Welcome to The Lock Sportscast, a weekly source for Locksports news and sometimes interviews. This is episode 49. Recorded May 8th, 2021. I'm your host, Charles Current in today's episode, shopping trolley hats, a couple help requests. First public pick of the Avis ISI 700 Aus source for credit card pick sets. [00:00:21] Lock picking lawyer selling leashes, product updates, sales, and giveaway. [00:00:43] You can find the audio version of the show on most podcast apps and The Lock Sportscast dot com. You can find the video version on YouTube links to stories discussed will be in the show notes, YouTube, and some apps limit the length of show notes and links, but you can always find full show notes with links at The Lock Sportscast dot com a couple of quick announcements. [00:01:04] It has come to my attention that because of changes to the Apple podcast app and the latest update. Those that use, it may not see the newest episode in their feed for several hours after I post it, the app used to directly check for new episodes itself. Now it waits for the Apple servers to tell it a new episode is available. [00:01:24] And the word is that they just aren't checking very often. Also it no longer properly displays links in the show notes. Um, there is a rumor that that might be fixed in a future version, but until then, The Lock Sportscast dot com is the place for links. If you are using the Apple podcast app Don's Lock, send in an article about a tic Tucker's clever solution to the Woolworth's trolley dilemma on Yahoo news. [00:01:52] Basically he shows how to use the bow of a Kwikset key instead of a coined to unlock the trolley known as a shopping cart here in the U S. We don't have any of these setups where I live. So I can't confirm whether this works or not or what the, like the gallery is. I'm not sure. Evidently according to the article, some areas require these systems by law. [00:02:15] I don't know if it's true prevent shopping carts from being stolen or, or what the deal is, but there are all do appear to be 3d printed devices that can be used for the same purpose as the KIBO. Um, available online, basically easily to easy to remove you, unlock the cart and you remove the thing while using the cart. [00:02:36] Also some retailers who use these locks will sell you a removable quote-unquote coin for 99 cents according to them. So I'm not sure what the point is. If anyway, I don't know why the system is there, how it works, but it appears to be quite insecure in whatever it's for. Back on April 27th, HV logic sent in a story to me that was posted on Reddit. [00:03:05] I did not get it in the show last week. Like I should have, I had a technical difficulty with my online database where the one I was using at one location didn't sync up properly. So it wasn't on my list when I want to do the episode last week. Hopefully it's not too late to get it on this week. It was a post by PacLock. [00:03:28] It said help needed, but our custom D D key cutter is a bit behind schedule, but we need to get our first shipment of military DD locks out to the military. Anyone have an alloy style cutter that can handle the profile style keys. Our key head is more square than that, of . Um, just to case that matters. So I will have a link to that post. [00:03:54] In the show notes, even if you don't have a key cutter, it's an interesting one to check out. Cause you can see what the, uh, military D D Lock key profile looks like. Also Albert LaBelle put out a post on Twitter that said I got my new hardness test file set. Things are about to get interesting. Sharelle shared that tweet with me. [00:04:15] And then Albert Labell actually also tweeted me and said, I sure could use some feedback from the community on the subject. I do not want to go too deep. Just want to be able to confirm or dispute whether the padlock shackles are actually hardened or not and where the line is. So I will share links to both the tweets, both of those tweets and to Albert Lavelle's channel. [00:04:41] So if you have any insight into this head over there and, uh, have a chat with him. Mr. Black magic shared a video that he made with his Lock cam. Again, this one being what he thinks is the first public pick of the Abus E C 700, which is a six dimple pin plus four hidden dimple pins with an overset mechanism and he picks and guts it with his Lock cam. [00:05:07] He says this Lock has been picked and documented with text plus pictures by decoder as. Quote public first, but I made the very first video with picking and gutting about this very interesting Lock. So head over there and check that out. It actually is really well done video. He does a great job of explaining the custom tool he made, why he had to make it, how the overset mechanism works on the lower pins. [00:05:33] And it's a really good video. And apparently the first public video pick of the. That specific Lock and rubber banded shared a post on Twitter that said, guess what, everyone I partnered with to bring their much sought after credit card picks, set to the USA, designed with help from Lock, newb, and talent pick. [00:05:56] This is a great set to pick up for backup or to collect now on hooligan keys.com. He also made a tweet about a code for free shipping on orders over $30. And you can get that. From the sales segment of this or from his tweet. And just a reminder in my giveaway, you can win a $20 gift code for hooligan keys.com. [00:06:23] So with that and the $30 free shipping, you could get a really good deal over there. And over at uncensored tactical, there is a recent podcast episode and titled three lines of gear for lockpicking with sky pirate, actual. Uh, Pat and sky pirate, actual go over the concept of three lines of gear for real world entry. [00:06:51] And it's a concept he touches on in his book, but it's a really good episode of the podcast to go over the, they touch on what the three lines of gear are, what should be in each kit, roughly everybody's situation is slightly different, but they give you some really good ideas on. What they carry and what they think should be carried in each line of gear. [00:07:11] So I recommend that you head over and check that out. If you're in any field where you might have to do real-world entry, Pat also made a new YouTube video. It's entitled how to pick a Lock. 62nd crash course raking method. The description reads, this is the Lock picking crash course I give to every one of my in-person students. [00:07:32] Some things about lockpicking choir, just the right tools and just the right amount of hard earned, fine motor skills and lessons learned from failures. The method in this video is very non-scientific and very easy to learn and get started with your new addictive hobby and enjoy. It's a, it's a good first intro for how easy it can be to pick a master Lock. [00:07:54] So. Uh, it might be a good one to show anybody who's interested in getting started in Lock sport, or maybe if you are a part of a, uh, fire department or police department, something quick to show to your buddies to show them just how easy it can potentially be. And a couple of people shared with me that the Lock picking lawyer put out a video on Lishi showing exactly how easy they are to use. [00:08:18] And he announced that he started selling them in his store covered instruments.com. It looks like they are sold out at this moment. The move appears to have been a bit controversial in some of the lockpicking circles. What do you guys think? My mail, um, I really don't have an opinion on this. It's a Lock picking tool. [00:08:39] Like any others is what it is, make the locks better. And Jeff and things reached out and said, I know this one is old, but I wasn't sure if you had seen it or heard about it. Legal Lock picker disappeared for awhile, especially when someone that big in the community disappears for a while. It might be worth noting. [00:08:58] But I understand if it's not newsworthy, it certainly is newsworthy. I saw the video by helpful Lock picker last week and the week before that. So I just didn't get into my show. I don't know why for anyone who hasn't already heard legal Lock Pickers channel went silent about a month ago. Helpful Lock picker on YouTube has been in contact with him at times and shared the reason for his absence in a recent live stream. [00:09:24] It seems that legal Lock picker contracted COVID and has been having a difficult recovery. So I'm sure everyone will join me in wishing him the best and hoping he feels better. Soon. If you don't already, you should subscribe to his channel. You should also subscribe to helpful Lock Beggar's channel. If you didn't already know this. [00:09:43] Because he does a weekly live Locksports update, live stream where he shares news. And he's usually filming that about the time I'm recording this. So a lot of his news doesn't make it into mine. So something to think about, make sure you go over there and subscribe to him. It's another great way to find out what's happening in the community. [00:10:06] Also, Jeff and things wanted us to know that. Bosnian bill posted on Facebook. Apparently he lost a friend due to COVID and he said for the first time I'm going to take a week off from making videos. I lost a dear friend to COVID and I'm helping her husband and kids through the aftermath. So, um, everybody keep him in your best wishes or your purse or whatever it is that you do. [00:10:32] And, uh, well, wish the best for him. And we have a couple of milestone subscriber counts here. We have fish picks, announced that he had reached 1000 subscribers, but as of this recording, he's already up to 1.25 K. So congratulations. It's really not surprising to me. His videos are amazing quality. Just. The quality of the edits, the visuals, the voiceover, he really, really, he does an excellent job. [00:11:04] And in, to me, it's no surprise that he's going so quickly. I mean, he started like four months ago and he's already at 1.2 5k. So congratulations. Fixed pick you've earned it. Also CLK supplies has reached their 5,000 subscriber Mark, and they put out a special video entitled. We want to thank you. [00:11:24] Reflecting on our hashtag Lock boss Journey, 5k subs, the description to the video reads. We all want to give a huge thank you to the lockbox community. We want to, we wanted this community to be about learning, growing, encouraging others. And of course having some fun. Thank you to all you guys. That's exactly what it is. [00:11:45] We have made so many Lock boss, friends along the way, and we appreciate you all enjoy Lock, bus, giveaway, videos, favorite bloopers, and other funny videos. It's a, it's an entertaining watch. I recommend you go check it out. If you haven't already Martin Newton shared on Twitter that they have received the components for 500 more of their pocket picks and they will be assembling. [00:12:10] For the rest of the week, you can order those directly from them. I will have a link to the Twitter post and they do have instructions on how you order them in there. Those of you that have been with this podcast for a little while, you might remember that back in episode 36, I shared a dimple Lock decoding card by Coca Litos. [00:12:30] Well, Lock newb, got his hands on one and did a review. So he posted on Twitter. I believe this is the world's first dimple Lock specific key decoding card. Pretty cool. Huh? Thank you to the designer, Mr. Coca Litos for sending me this card to look at and it's called the OFC dimple Lock decoding card. I will have a link to Lock newbs video and the a site where you can purchase the card in the show notes. [00:12:58] And on Twitter, squelch tone, put out a quick tweet that said clever key chain idea with a link to a eBay post or a listing is entitled Medico original or biaxial key Locksports pick case zipper poll. How your choice of one zipper poll to add to your Lock port pick case handmade from a genuine nickel, silver Medico key. [00:13:25] It's the key bow with the actual key blade cutoff. So it's just the bow and a whole drill through it with a split ring really makes kind of a unique key. Paul, I almost want to get one to put on my coat anyway. Could also be used as a key chain, whichever your choice they are available on eBay. And I will have a link in the show notes. [00:13:52] There are no new speed picking records to announce from speedlocks.org this week. However, we do have a couple of posts from Roon picker. He says at the very last minute, right before I placed the order with the factory, we reached red tier the assets 700 and MRI have been added to the prize pool. So it sounds like a pretty nice prize pool. [00:14:13] Uh, I've always coveted one of those M hearts, but I'm too cheap to try and buy one. Anyway. I'm also not in the running for this. So. Uh, he did also put out a tweet that said reminder to everyone that we will be doing a live stream tomorrow on my channel at 5:00 AM Pacific standard time, announcing the bracket for the speed Lock tournament, tune in to find out who your opponent will be. [00:14:36] And that's actually going to have already taken place by the time you hear this. So I would recommend you head over to his channel and check out the video. If you are interested. In Lock Pickers, United karate belts. This week, we have two new purple belts to announce pole Delta and the tin man, 1986, both earn their purple belts. [00:15:00] Congratulations to both of you [00:15:08] in the Lock Pickers, United discord reads. Please welcome Mr. Paradise to the rank of black belt. You want to watch his asset combi video for the reaction he has just after 42 minutes. We can all relate to that level of joy. When the Lock finally relents also, he tackled the Assa twin V 10, with barrel spools for Epic quests. [00:15:29] He created some beautiful picks that you should check out. If you want to understand what is expected for refined pick making, and he created a cutaway Lock, please congratulate him. And on his crowning achievement, check out the video he put out about. The pics and cutaway he made for his black belt. [00:15:47] I'll have a link for that in the show notes, in case you aren't already subscribed to his channel for anyone that is not familiar with what the Lock Pickers United credit belt system is, you can head over to The lockpicking subreddit. And there is a page there that you can click on that is belt ranking information. [00:16:06] It gives you everything. You need to know what the ranks are. What's entitled. What's an. Required to get the particular belt, all of that great information. It is the definitive source for all of that information. Last time, take a quick break. Say thank you to all the people that made this episode possible. [00:16:25] First off. Big, huge, huge. Thank you to Bob B for his third $50 one-time donation. Uh, he sent in a note with this one that said one of these days, I'll get a shout out for earning blue. Keep up the good work you do. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, Bob. Much appreciated. And, uh, just since it's part of the subject of the note, just quick reminder to everybody, the purple belt, the no higher that I announced is not a hard limit. [00:16:55] I will announce anybody, but he's built that they are proud of, or if. Somebody, you know, earned a belt that you, you think they should have announced. Just let me know. I will announce that the purple belt and higher is to limit my workload, searching for these things. That's it, you know, and a little bit to the announcement length in the show. [00:17:15] If I just announced everybody's most people don't listen to the show anyway, so, but if you request it, I will announce it all right now to the Patrion subscribers, we have the founding executive producers. Panda-Frog Michael Gilchrist Starrylock William's brain day to be deciphered Liibans Locksports Journey, Pat from uncensored tactical, pH picker, three raccoons and a raincoat and Chirael and our latest producer brand new subscriber on Patrion is mug. [00:17:46] So thank you again to all of you. You really do help pay for the bills of the show, and it's very, very much appreciated. Also highly appreciated. We have the content producers, the chief content producer for this episode is Anthony Chirael. So he he's also, uh, the chief content producer and one of the founding executive producers very much appreciated. [00:18:11] He does a lot to keep this show going. And I just want to say thank you so much. Other content producers for this episode are Albert Labell, dawns locks, HB logic, Jeff and things. Joshua Gonzales, MOG Michael Gilchrist, Mr. Black magic Panda-Frog pocket woman. Pyrolock Roon rubber band Starrylock and Tony reli. [00:18:34] Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. The show is not possible without the information and support of the community. So if you're getting some value out of this podcast, all I ask is that you return portion of that value. And whatever way you can. W if that's sending in news links information, that is the number one way you can help keep this show going. [00:18:55] I can't do it all by myself. So I really rely on you guys to send that information in. So if there's only one thing you can do a little bit of your time to do some quick searches, or just even if you're not searching, just grab whatever you happen to see that you think I might be interested in and send it my way. [00:19:12] I would really appreciate it. Just the time it takes to send me a tweet. Tag me in, in a tweet, something, uh, send me an email. Anything. I appreciate it. It really does help. You can share the podcast with others and if you happen to tag me in it, I will get you entered in my giveaway to also the same with providing information. Or if you want to help financially, you can, uh, subscribe on Patrion or donate via PayPal. Like Bobby does. It doesn't have to be that much and it is not necessary. [00:19:51] The show is free and will always be free. A quick update on the state of the podcast. Um, like I said, there's been some changes in the podcasting world. So the Apple podcasting app is acting weird right now. I apologize. It's not my fault. Um, hopefully everything goes smoothly in the future. If you want to send some feedback, you can do that. [00:20:12] Lock Sportscast dot com slash contact. If you want to, you know, re that's something I say, or have your own little say in, in what's happening in the community, you can submit a note, video or audio recording. You can keep it. If you can keep it a reasonable length, plight and work family safe without politics or drama, I will, uh, I'll share it on the show. [00:20:37] I don't mind sharing my time and we'll move on to the crazy locksmiths story from American key supply. This one is a short one this week, but a good reminder of why you really need to treat this more like police and fire and EMS do make sure the scene is safe for you to enter. Let's read this story. I had a call by the police to open a door in the downtown of my city. [00:21:04] I was picking the Lock. And when I was done, I turned my head to the officer to tell him it's done. And then I saw five policemen with Bulletproof vests and me in front of the door with just my t-shirt. Now I'm more careful about that kind of job. Yeah. It's a position. They never should have put a locksmith in, but I think there'll be other ways to get through the door. [00:21:24] That would be better than putting a locksmith in the line of fire potentially. So just, uh, just to remind you, if you're your locksmith. Take your safety seriously. You are on the front lines in a lot of these situations. And in sales this week, we'll start off with Tony Raleigh sent me a note, a Tony Verli of 3d Locksports dot com said, Hey, just want to let you know, the PacLock 10 coupon code is no longer active, but I couldn't keep your viewers hanging. [00:21:54] So here's a code just for them. It's 10% off with the code L S cast 10. So that's. L S C a S T one zero at 3d Locksports dot com for 10% off. Just so you know, I don't get anything out of any of these codes or gift codes. I give away anything. I don't get anything out of them. I'm just trying to, to promote the Locksports communities, businesses and rubber band, put out a tweet. [00:22:21] On April 26th that said to celebrate a great year at hooligan keys. Use this code for free shipping for any order over $30, which is what the new set we three Kings and a friend is going for right now, get all your dorking keys in one go. And she asks for retweet for visibility. And then on May 3rd, evidently he realized he had forgot to attach the code. [00:22:45] So we have the code ship it 2021 is good for 30 days. And he says, heads up. My shipping code also applies to international shipping. So if you want to buy some USA based picks and such now is a good time South or Lock picks, put out a tweet said, Hey, y'all we just rotated our sale items page, check out what's on sale now@southorange.com and have a fantastic weekend. [00:23:13] So if you're interested in anything over there, I'll have a link in the show notes. And like last week we have I'm back for $15 off@uhshardware.com. It is technically for returning customers, but I have seen people in the discord server saying that they successfully used it, even though they had just created a new account. [00:23:35] I don't know how long it will be. Good for, could be expired by the time you hear this, who knows, but it doesn't hurt to check it out. We also have the standing 15% off at Maaco locks with the code by Maaco and their black Fridays sales are still up. We have $10 off with the code gift at UK Lock Pickers dot co.uk. [00:23:56] And I tested that and it is still working and giveaways. We still have Mr. Black magic doing his, when a Lock cam and more hashtag Lock magic, 200 giveaway. Basically in one, take, pick a Lock. You haven't picked before. [00:24:17] So before you enter, make sure you check out the other entries to see what people have already done. Anyway, I'll have a link to his video in the show notes. If you want to check it out for all of the rules, I won't go through them all here again. Did last week soft picker, uh, seven. Deadly sins, hashtag speeds, loft giveaway running the first round until the 15th of May. [00:24:42] So you still have a little time to get in on that given away one of set or giving away seven, you can win one of seven Masha Lock, 68 35, all keyed alike. That will be used in the second round of the giveaway. All the rules in his description in the video, I will have a link in the show notes. So you can head over to his channel, check out his English one 76 video, and he will have the rules for this month. [00:25:29] There. [00:26:32] You can win either one of my PacLock 108 with the logo engrave or a $20 gift code for hooligan keys.com. You combine that with the free shipping you get on an order over $30. What a deal here. You're saving a bunch of money anyway, or my custom PacLock. Whichever you want. Uh, I will be doing the draw for last months. [00:27:17] They probably haven't because they probably thought somebody else did, or I saw it. Just send it in. You won't overburden me. It saves me a lot of time. If I don't have to go searching for it, if I'm just waiting through what people have sent me. It's a lot easier. Anyway. Thanks. Keep it legal.
