Speaker 5 (00:07): You're listening to The La Jolla Cosmetic Podcast. Monique Ramsey (00:15): Welcome everyone to The La Jolla Cosmetic Podcast. I'm your hostess, Monique Ramsey. Today on the show, we have Corey Dylan. You may remember her from having her Ultherapy back in the summer this year. She's a radio hostess on Big FM 100.7. So Corey, back here on the podcast, welcome. Corey Dylan (00:37): Thank you for having me back. Appreciate it. Monique Ramsey (00:39): Yeah. It's nice to have you back. You look fabulous. Corey Dylan (00:41): Well, thank you. Thank you. I am getting some compliments on my skin these days and we'll talk about that, I'm sure. Monique Ramsey (00:47): Yeah, exactly. So remind us, in the audience, what you came in for and what were your goals? Corey Dylan (00:55): Well, as we get older, as we do, I just celebrated my 51st birthday. Can I say that publicly and not- Monique Ramsey (01:02): Yeah. Yeah, you can. Corey Dylan (01:03): ... Feel horrified by it? On my 51st birthday, lucky to be here, and as we get older, obviously there's sagging and I started to feel like I was getting a little jowly right here, and I've never had a super strong jaw line to begin with. And I was like, "What can we do that's not surgical?" And so I asked about Ultherapy. And we did a little Ultherapy. It's just in and out in, what, I think I was there a couple of hours. Monique Ramsey (01:32): It was an hour and a half, yeah, two hours maybe total? Corey Dylan (01:35): Yeah. Treated great by everybody. And then I came back, I think, what was it, a couple weeks later to have a little bit of filler here on the jawline. And though it's very subtle, right? It's one of those things that, especially when you're looking in the mirror every day, you won't be like, "Whoa, oh my God, I'm a different person." Monique Ramsey (01:52): Right. Corey Dylan (01:52): But I will tell you that I get a lot of compliments lately about how great my skin looks. So that part was more immediate because when that collagen is building, I don't know, your skin just, you're not necessarily noticing the tightening and the lifting, but what you are noticing is your skin, the tone, the texture, less acne, and things like that. It just looks better. And that was something I wasn't necessarily expecting. Monique Ramsey (02:21): Yeah. And so for everyone, we'll have a link in the show notes about what Ultherapy is. And it's really using ultrasound therapy, but it heats the tissue, is really what it's doing. Is heating the tissue, as you know, as you were in the chair feeling it. Corey Dylan (02:36): Yes. Monique Ramsey (02:36): Yeah, right? A little hot. But it heats the tissue to help stimulate that tightening and lifting. The collagen is stimulated to start renewing and building and that takes time. Corey Dylan (02:45): Right. Monique Ramsey (02:47): So it is one of those things, you do have to be patient, but the trade off is it's a very natural look, and it's the only FDA-approved device for lifting and tightening, which I think is amazing. You can get sometimes tightening with a laser or certain therapies, or you might have lifting with a facelift or threads, but this is sort of a all-in-one. You just have to kind of plan ahead if you were... I remember you were talking about a family wedding, right? Corey Dylan (03:12): Yes. Monique Ramsey (03:12): Has that happened yet or? Corey Dylan (03:13): Oh, yeah. My nephew got married just two weeks ago. Actually, almost exactly two weeks ago. And the whole family was here and it was just great. It's just amazing when you're doing something like that or the family's getting together, and we were celebrating my uncle's 80th birthday, that was a really big deal too. It's just, you have to be your best, and when you feel your best, and I'm still working on everything here down, you know what I mean? With the gym and- Monique Ramsey (03:39): You and me both. Corey Dylan (03:40): ... Enjoyment of having those cocktails every night, because that's the easiest thing to dump, sadly. Monique Ramsey (03:45): I know. Corey Dylan (03:46): It's the hardest thing. I just look at it as honestly taking care of myself and trying to be the best me that I can be, so that now as my parents get older and these things that are happening that require a lot more responsibility of me, the adult child, I'm just better equipped to handle everything, honestly. Monique Ramsey (04:04): Well, it's kind of when it's just one less thing to think about. I've always been acne prone, so when my acne's under control, I'm less stressed for sure because my makeup goes on faster. And now you mentioned the giving up the cocktails, but you have actually a whole, I don't know, would you call it a podcast or, I mean, you do segment- Corey Dylan (04:25): Yeah. Monique Ramsey (04:26): ... Where you talk about different cocktails and the history of the cocktail and what makes the cocktail. It's fabulous. I was on one of your White Russian ones- Corey Dylan (04:35): Oh, yeah. Monique Ramsey (04:36): ... I think. Yeah. I think it was that. And I was like, "This is so interesting. I never knew why it came about." And so, if you'll tell everybody about that so they could follow, because it's a really great little segment. You do. Corey Dylan (04:46): Well, thank you. I do a live show every week. I'm going to do one this week with a cocktail that was actually created by a woman who was a legit lead bartender, which was very rare 100 years ago at The Savoy Hotel, I believe in London. It's a very famous cocktail bar and it's called the Hanky Panky. Monique Ramsey (05:11): How great is that? Corey Dylan (05:11): From the terminology. Monique Ramsey (05:12): When do we get to watch that? Corey Dylan (05:13): I try to do them every Friday at 3:00 Pacific time. I do them, I stream live on my Facebook page @Corey Dylan and my Facebook profile. But I also do it on my YouTube channel, which I don't have a unique name. I mean, you would just, I think it's, I don't know, if you look for Ms. Corey Dylan or something like that, it's up there. But they'll live on my Facebook page in infamy. I'm trying to work that angle because this is something, I mean, we all kind of took up something to keep ourselves active during the pandemic. And at the time, I was living in Atlanta and just stuck living and working in a two bedroom apartment just going crazy, right? Especially through the winter months. And so I just, a lot of people started doing a happy hour, but I just started making different cocktails. I do find the history of these different cocktails kind of interesting, and everything in moderation as my mother tells me. Monique Ramsey (06:06): Yeah. Well, I think it's nice. I mean, if you're going to have a little glass or something at the end of the day or end of the week, it's fun to try something new. You never know what you might enjoy having. Corey Dylan (06:16): Right, right. And I think it kind of speaks to even what you guys do at La Jolla Cosmetic. I mean the technology has come so far. Women have been trying to do this, what, for ages. I mean, you probably know more about the history of cosmetic surgery. I mean, I can imagine Cleopatra tried a couple of things including charcoal and different things to apply for the makeup. Monique Ramsey (06:37): Yeah. You bring up a really good point, and I think, I love the fact during the pandemic, so you kind of came up with something new, and really that's how this podcast evolved. We did QuaranTea, spilling the tea on the different topics, QuaranTea with LJC, and we did a whole bunch of Zoom interviews just like this with the doctors and providers. And it actually ended up winning a Global Award. Corey Dylan (07:02): Wow. Monique Ramsey (07:02): So that was super fun. But I don't think I've ever worked so hard in my whole life. It was like boom, boom, boom. Every day we were having a different show. But that's kind of how this evolved because it was so popular. People wanted another way to learn information about the different procedures. And so- Corey Dylan (07:18): Right. Monique Ramsey (07:19): ... And I love the fact that you're being so open about it and talking about the Ultherapy. And so you mentioned some filler along the jawline. Corey Dylan (07:26): Yeah. Monique Ramsey (07:27): Would you remember what you had? Corey Dylan (07:28): Was it, see, I don't want to get it wrong. Was it Restylane? Monique Ramsey (07:31): It was Radiesse. Radiesse. Corey Dylan (07:33): Radiesse. Okay. I knew it started with an R. Okay. Monique Ramsey (07:36): Yeah, right. Yeah. Radiesse. And that's a thicker formulation, I guess, to say. I know they can use it for the hands where, as you get older, you see more veins, you see more indentions. Corey Dylan (07:50): And the skin becomes more translucent. Monique Ramsey (07:52): Yeah. So Radiesse in the hands can help rejuvenate the hands, but it's also used for bone. So along the jawline. And so what I didn't realize is that it's a really good complement to Ultherapy because our Ultherapy rep was there the day you had your treatment, and she's the one who recommended it. She said, "You're stimulating this collagen production. So in about three weeks, come back, do the Radiesse and it works together and will help make the result better." Corey Dylan (08:22): Right, right. A little more immediate for my own satisfaction or whatever you want to say about that. But I've also done Botox at La Jolla Cosmetic and another filler, which I don't remember. That's one thing I love about La Jolla Cosmetic is you guys are super comforting and you talk me through everything, make sure that I'm comfortable during any procedure. There are so many different options. You guys have over 80 different treatments and procedures. So there really is kind of a custom fit for whoever comes in who has whatever thing that they want to fix or improve upon. Monique Ramsey (08:57): Yeah. And we have a treatment planner that we launched this past summer. And really, what it does is you can go in and say what area of the body you're trying to fix, and it will ask you two or three questions. And it narrows down, because out of, overnight, almost 90 procedures, how do you know? You might know, "Okay, I know Botox does the forehead or the crow's feet and I know I want that." But other times, there might be seven different ways to fix something. And maybe you're a candidate for all seven, maybe you're a candidate for two, but you won't know until you kind of get started. So if you use that treatment planner, you can really kind of dial down, and then once you're given your results, you could sort them by highest price to lowest price, lowest price to... I always go low to high. (09:46): What's the cheapest thing I can do? That's just who I am. So then it's like, "Okay." And then if there's before and after pictures, it'll lead you to those, or a podcast about that procedure, it leads you to that. And I think that's a really good way to kind of know that the whole spectrum, because there's a lot between what's non-invasive or minimally invasive, all the way to what's going to be a bigger solution. If you're talking about your neck, then obviously face and neck lift is going to do the most and last the longest. But not everybody wants to have that or is ready for that. Corey Dylan (10:17): And it's funny you mentioned that because honestly, I was watching the Padres game with my neighbor this week. She is 72. Monique Ramsey (10:24): Oh my gosh. Corey Dylan (10:25): Don't tell her I said her age. But she said, she goes, "I think I'm done with my place and I think I want to try out your place." So I may be coming with my next door neighbor soon. But she is 72 and she really wants to get rid of what is happening with her neck. And so she was talking about a neck lift and I did tell her to go on the website, I forgot about the treatment planner, which is how I discovered, honestly, and read up about Ultherapy. And I said, "I think this might be for me." And then I talked to you guys about it and you're like, "Yep, that would be probably the best option for you at your age and with what you're trying to accomplish." So, yeah. Perfect. Monique Ramsey (11:01): Yeah. And next week, we have a live event and it'll be available on-demand. So everybody can go to our Specials page. I'll put the link in the show notes. But we're going to have Dr. Riedler talk about aging for facial rejuvenation, kind of by the decade, because what in your 20s can you do? Corey Dylan (11:19): Yeah. Monique Ramsey (11:19): What can you do in your 30s? What's going to be better in your 50s and 60s? And of course everybody's different. But in general, because there are so many different things, and she's going to talk about how the face ages and what happens, where you're talking about that getting hollowed out, and so she's able to kind of give that information on what's happening structurally and how we can then fix it. So do you have anything on your wishlist now or are you good for a while? Corey Dylan (11:47): Well, I will be back with my neighbor for sure. And I told her, I said, "Well, I just got a little Botox and filler." I mean, I want to try La Jolla Cosmetic for the facials and things like that. We'll stay tuned. I have to go to my actual dermatologist because I've got a few things that I need taken care of. But even my dermatologist told me for things like Ultherapy, you need to go somewhere like La Jolla Cosmetic because that's what y'all do. And they don't do that. They just take care of the, hopefully not, but precancerous stuff and things like that. Monique Ramsey (12:19): And that's something we don't do. So we let the experts do those things because if we see something suspicious, our doctors will tell you where to go. Corey Dylan (12:28): Right, right. It's just a nice companion relationship that I've got going because I've always tried to take very good care of my skin. But for the last 20 some years of my life, this Pacific Northwest girl who has very Irish white skin has been living in the Sunshine State, and now California. So I think maybe a trip back to La Jolla Cosmetic to talk to one of your aestheticians- Monique Ramsey (12:49): Yeah. Corey Dylan (12:50): ... Will be in order. Monique Ramsey (12:51): We have some really cool treatments. There's the DiamondGlow that's part of the skin medical line where they have all kinds of cool infusions with the TNS Advanced+ Serum or brightening serums or all kinds of things. And then there's the Hydrafacial MD, and then there's Oxygeneo, which actually, I think they changed their company just to Geneo, not Oxygeneo, but it uses oxygen infusion, that's how I remember it. And so each of these treatment's kind of good for different things. And so either Cameron or Brittany, they can tell you what's going to be the best to keep that skin glowing. But you do look absolutely glowing. So I think Ann was your provider and she's out on maternity leave. Corey Dylan (13:34): Aww. Monique Ramsey (13:35): But- Corey Dylan (13:36): She had a baby? Monique Ramsey (13:37): ... Yeah, she had her baby. Yeah. Corey Dylan (13:38): Aww. Fantastic. Everybody's healthy and happy, I hope? Monique Ramsey (13:41): Yeah. Yeah. Corey Dylan (13:41): Good. Monique Ramsey (13:42): So she'll be back soon. So we haven't seen her in a while. I think she finished about the week after your treatment, so- Corey Dylan (13:48): Wow. Yeah. Monique Ramsey (13:49): ... She's probably due back soon. But yeah, she did a beautiful job and I think, I'm glad you're so happy with your treatment. Corey Dylan (13:56): I am. Absolutely. Thank you guys so much. And you're my glam fam from here on out. Monique Ramsey (14:03): Yeah. This is why I never want to leave La Jolla Cosmetic because- Corey Dylan (14:06): I know. Monique Ramsey (14:07): ... I'm like, "Well, I'm a patient, so." Corey Dylan (14:10): Right? You're like, "I'm a patient. I was so happy I joined the company." Monique Ramsey (14:16): I joined the company. We actually have had a lot of employees start as patients and want to work- Corey Dylan (14:19): Really? Monique Ramsey (14:20): ... Yep. And want to work for us, which is very cool. That's a big compliment. Corey Dylan (14:24): Yeah. Well, I just tell everyone, I'm like, "It's your face and your body. I mean, it's the only one you have, right." So- Monique Ramsey (14:30): Yeah. Corey Dylan (14:31): ... Be very careful, feel free to look around, but make sure that one of those places that you look at and talk to and investigate is La Jolla Cosmetic Surgery Center and Med Spa, for sure. Monique Ramsey (14:40): Yeah. Thank you. Thank you. Well, thanks for spending a few minutes with us to wrap it all up. I will be so excited to watch the Hanky-Panky tomorrow. Corey Dylan (14:49): Yes. Monique Ramsey (14:50): 3:00 and go Padres. And so anybody who's listening, check our show notes for all the links. Hopefully we can get you in soon, Corey, for your after photos- Corey Dylan (15:00): Yes.... Because it's right about that time. If you could come in the next few weeks, we'll get your afters and we'll put it side by side in the show notes once we get that done. Because that is one of those things, especially with a procedure like this that's much more subtle and it takes time, you kind of lose track of, "What did I start with and where am I now?" So thanks everybody, and thanks for telling your story, and we'll see you all next time. (15:23): Thanks for having me, Monique.
