00:00:02 This is part two of answering your question. So today we are going to talk about getting ahead when you always feel like you're getting behind, you're trying to manage your finances, and then you get one step forward and two steps back. We're also going to discuss how to get your husband on board, because I actually got this question numerous times when I asked you guys to submit your questions. 00:00:31 So we're gonna answer that today. And also how to pay off debt on a low income. We're talking a thousand dollars a month or less. So this is part two of your questions answered. If you would like to send me a question to answer, go to speakpipe.com/budgets made easy, s p e a k p i p e.com/budgets made easy. And of course the link will be in the show notes. 00:00:58 So go send me one of your questions and maybe I'll answer it on the podcast. Let's dive in. Hi Ashley. This the more Sanchez. My question for v i P two challenge is, how do you keep the motivation to keep going when you're already starting so far behind? Where do you start when you're already so far behind on so many different things and life throws you more and more curve balls? 00:01:28 So how do you stay motivated? Where do you, where, where's your first step? Thank you. And I have truly enjoyed our course. Thank you very much. What a great question, because I get this a lot. Do you feel like you're not making any progress when in reality you are, you just don't see it? So one of the first things I recommend that you do is make some visual trackers. 00:01:55 We talked about this in Lisa's BSS episode, I believe it was like 83. Go back and listen to that one. She felt stuck. She felt like things just kept coming up and she couldn't get ahead. And when she finally sat down and made a visual, she really, she had actually paid off $19,000 since January. So you might not be as far behind as you think you are, 00:02:20 it's just sometimes there are, well, all the time, there are seasons to life, right? And sometimes it just like, oh my gosh, I just can't take anything else coming up right now. And you just focus on like, okay, the last week, the last month. But when you look at back to where you actually started on this journey, 00:02:40 I bet you've made a lot of progress. So where to start, that is where I want you to start. Of course, there's other steps along the way, but to really keep the motivation when you feel like you're so behind, make some visuals. Even if you're just tracking your minimum payment, you can actually see that you are making a dent in your debt and you are making progress. 00:03:04 So start with that and work from there. How long did it take your husband to get on board with paying off debt and what was possible? How do I get my husband on track with wanting to budget and pay things off? All right, let's dive into getting your spouse on board. And I will tell you that my husband was not fully on board when we started this journey. 00:03:35 He's used to me getting these hair brain ideas, these, you know, all these things I wanna do. And then I go out and I do all this stuff and then I, you know, walk off away from it, you know, a month or so later, right? So he just thought, this was another one of my crazy ideas. 00:03:52 And he has a very different mindset around money. He comes from an abundance mindset. I can always make more money where I don't, I come from a scarcity mindset. There's never enough. And so it was a little bit harder to get him on board. And some of the things that I did was I would play podcasts in the car. When he was in the car with me, 00:04:14 he couldn't get away. Like, so we took a long road trip and he listened to the podcast with me for several hours. He, you know, was a little bit slower, but he got on board after hearing it over and over. Now something else that I did was I did all the work and I would show him the progress that we made. 00:04:33 So they may not be fully on board, but as long as they're not wrecking the budget and setting you further and further behind, keep doing the work. Just show it to 'em. And you know, another thing that I encourage couples to do, and my husband and I are very good at this, is we dream together. We talk about, okay, 00:04:51 what if we got all this money someday? What if or what do we wanna do when we retire? What do we wanna do with our goals for next year? And really dream together because something that might be happening is your spouse doesn't have a goal that they want to work towards, and it may not be the same goal as yours. So you really have to compromise, 00:05:16 communicate, and work together toward the same goal. So sit down and just dream together. Find out what they really wanna do with their life and see if you can come together, maybe compromise a little bit and work together towards your financial goals, which you definitely gotta get on the same page in order to make it work. My sister wants to know how she can pay off debt with less than a thousand dollars a month. 00:05:49 All right, this question, I really need more information. And why she is only bringing in a thousand dollars a month, whatever her expenses, you know, all the things, a thousand dollars a month is really not manageable. If you are on a single income, you know, you gotta buy food and guests and rent like a thousand dollars is not sustainable. 00:06:14 So I would encourage her to find ways to make more money. Now, there's lots of ways on my website, budgets made easy.com. We've also covered that on the Money Mindset podcast as well. But she's gonna have to find ways to make more money. Like there's no way around that. Now, if that is all her spending money or you know, 00:06:37 maybe her rent is covered, food is covered, you know, with subsidies or things like that to government assistance, she can like $20 a month, $50 a month. It just depends on the, I need the whole picture in order to answer this question. But if you have a low income, go check out my debt payoff stories on the website. 00:06:58 Budgets made easy.com and there is one on there. They only made about 30,000 a year, which obviously is more than a thousand dollars a month. But they ca they were super creative with things that they did to make extra money so that they could pay off their debt really fast. So there's some really exci, well, I don't know exciting is the right word, 00:07:21 but there are some very creative ways to make money when you have a low income. All right, now as we wrap up here, I wanna know, do you have any questions that you would like me to answer? Go to.com/budgets made easy and of course the link will be in the show notes as well. Now as we wrap up here, I wanna leave you with a little note from my friend Mario Line. 00:07:50 And she has been a follower and a member of Money Success Coaching for a while now. And you know, I just love her kind where she is so sweet. So I'm gonna leave you with a note from her. Hi Ashley, this is Mario Line, one of your loyal followers.
