Alexandra Hughes: Welcome to season three of the ASCA Viewpoints Podcast, the podcast where we talk about the student conduct profession in higher education. I'm Alexandra Hughes, your Viewpoints host. Alexandra Hughes: Hello everyone, and welcome back for another episode of the ASCA Viewpoints Podcast. I am your host, Alexandra Hughes. Thank you so much for joining us on this episode. It's going to be a relatively quick episode, really about news and what's going on in ASCA. We have a lot of things that are happening, a lot of things that are coming up and you should have received this information in your email. However, if you didn't, we are compiling it all into one place. So go ahead and grab a pen or a piece of paper, if you need a computer or a notepad, iNote, whatever you need, go ahead and get this so you can get this information down. Alexandra Hughes: We are going to go in chronological order of what is happening and what is coming up next. First off, on February 17th that is right around the corner, we have a Reflections call for editors. So for those of you who don't know, we have Reflections as a part of ASCA, and Reflections on student conduct is an annual ASCA publication whose issues explore and examine topics important to the field of student conduct and higher education. Reflections on student conduct provides members with articles of interest and highlights hot topics in the practice of student conduct and higher education. So, if that is something that you would be interested in, please go ahead and make sure that you are applying. The deadline for applications again is going to be Monday, February 17th. Please contact Cristina Gonzalez if you have any questions, or need additional information. Alexandra Hughes: Let's see what we have here. February 24th, we have a lot of leadership applications due, so we really want you all to get involved in ASCA and in these leadership roles. And so we have many different things that you can get involved in. First off, there is Community of Practice chairs, there's Committee chairs, there are Region chairs. So all of these positions are really going to allow you to take a step in a leadership position in ASCA, really contribute, really give back, and really create the conference and the type of ASCA that you want in the organization that you would like to be a part of. So again, those leadership applications for Community of Practice chairs, for Committee chairs and for Region chairs are going to be due February 24th, 2020. Alexandra Hughes: Also, on February 24th, 2020, we are also going to have the 2021 Assistant Conference chair/the 2022 Conference chair application due as well. So as you guys know, we have the assistant conference chair that helps out the current conference chair, and then they will be the conference chair that following year. So again, if you're interested in being the 2022 conference chair, which would be the 2021 assistant conference chair for our annual conference, please go ahead and submit an application. Again, it's important that you get that in. If you didn't know, some of the work that the chair does, you'll be leading, designing, coordinating and really facilitating all aspects of the conference. So this is an important role, and we really want you to go ahead and apply if you are interested in that. Alexandra Hughes: We also have calls for being a campus host, so that is going to be due on February 28th. Again, that is February 28th, so we're looking for institutions that would like to host the following things. First of all, we're going to be having a Free Speech Institute and we're looking for one institution to host. We have a Student Organization Institute and we will be looking for two institutions to host, and we will also be having a Sexual Misconduct Institute and we will be looking for two institutions to host that as well. So again, if you would like to be considered to be a campus host for some of our campus-based programs, please turn in that application. It's going to be due February 28th, 2020. Alexandra Hughes: Let's see. Lastly, on my list to share with you all, the Gehring Scholarships are going to be opening up soon. Look to see them towards the middle and end of this month, but they will be due March 16th. So for those of you who don't know, we have our Donald D. Gehring Academy, which is really our premier educational event. Just to give you guys a little bit of background, the ASCA Donald D. Gehring Academy for Student Conduct Administration is an intensive program designed for participants to learn through a competency based model. The Academy consists of multiple tracks designed for specific training needs and topics will be announced early November. Alexandra Hughes: We are past November and those topics have already been announced. This year, our 2020 academy will be taking place from July 23rd to July 27th of 2020, and it will be in Minneapolis, Minnesota this year. So, if you are interested in that, please go ahead and apply. Again, those scholarships will be opening up towards the end of this month and they will be due March 16th of this year, of 2020. I would encourage you to apply. I would also encourage you to go to the academy. I've gone in the past, I went last year. I will be there this year. It's really a fantastic opportunity, and the scholarship is a good way to go and attend. Alexandra Hughes: Those are all of the things that I have for you for this new cycle on what's happening and what's going on. As far as dates, I'm going to briefly go over those yet again. So again, February 17th, the Reflections call for editors are due. February 24th, all leadership applications are due. February 28th, the call for the campus host will be due, and March 16th, the Gehring scholarships will be due. Please go ahead and play this back, share this episode with anybody on your team, on your staff, in our organization that you know needs to know these dates. Write them down, and we ask that you again, remember to get all of your information in before these dates. Alexandra Hughes: If you have any further questions, please feel free to email asca@theasca.org, and we will get back to you in regards to any questions or anything that you may have. Again, check your email because everything is sent out, and it has all the information and links and things in there for you to get all of the information and apply, and get everything in. That's all I have for you. I hope that you have a wonderful rest of your day, and we look forward to seeing you next time on the ASCA podcast. Thank you.
