OG Podcast 102 === [00:00:00] Dom: We actually had to have a conversation with Josh about his addictive [00:00:03] tendencies. [00:00:04] Josh: No, I got, I [00:00:07] Dom: thank God you never got into drugs truly. Cause [00:00:10] Josh: I mean, like smoking weed, [00:00:11] Dom: I mean, I mean, you know what I mean? Is that even, well, there's a [00:00:16] Josh: reason why I never did drugs. [00:00:19] Dom: Because you would go [00:00:20] Josh: headlong and I did ecstasy one time in my life, right? [00:00:24] And I had just moved down to Miami and I was it was a requirement. You show up in [00:00:30] Miami [00:00:30] Dom: that here's Let me [00:00:33] Josh: just put let me just paint the picture for you. This is this is me 25 years old. I had just lost a hundred in 30 pounds or whatever, you know, and I just moved to Miami or to Florida to go to culinary school and some bros from culinary school that moved from Boston, like Maryland, they had like, they've been like, Hey, bro, you want to go to, you want to go to ultra with us? [00:00:52] And, you know, two [00:00:54] Charlie: mail orders are like, two Marylanders here being like, what the fuck [00:00:57] Josh: I just, I specifically remember them [00:01:00] being from Maryland. And, uh, they, they were, Hey, you wanna go to Ultra? And I was like, yeah, sure. They probably gun doc. Actually, I went [00:01:07] Dom: to, Hey hun. Hey Hun. You got that Good? You got that good. [00:01:10] Josh: Uh, when I say they were bros, they're definitely bros. You know what I mean? And, uh, I got it down by the water. The water. Yeah. I, I, I definitely had a good time. I don't remember, of clothes down by the water Yeah. That you worship on and then you talk to your mother on the phone. I, I lost my clothes down in the pool and, uh, Hey buddy, why don't [00:01:27] Dom: you go home with your e and just, you know, smoke some [00:01:30] reefer. [00:01:30] Josh: Yeah. Yeah. So anyways, bucket list, bucket list, uh, achieved. And then, uh, you know, I became a proponent of, I am never doing that again because that was way too fun. And I feel like that is a slippery slope that I do not need to go down. But with Pokemon [00:01:49] Dom: cards, at least at least with Pokemon cards, it's like mobile games. [00:01:53] Uh, [00:01:54] Josh: yo, I mean, you know, contestant champion, at least in like, okay, so I stopped [00:02:00] playing Kansas champs, but like, at least like the Pokemon TCG, like when I buy packs of cards, at least when I buy packs of cards at the back of it, there's a [00:02:08] Dom: code card is every dumb thing. We say, [00:02:13] Josh: you know, you guys realize I'm a world, I, I, I raid lead a world war craft. [00:02:16] I'm used to recording. Yes. We were recording. I'm used to like 23 degenerates being like wish. com wish. com. What is wish. com? Because they like jokingly say that I'm like when you order a master looter and [00:02:30] you get the wish. com version I'm the I'm the wish. com version Savage That's fucking savage That was a joke from like a long time ago and like usually like probably like probably like Tanner Fittini the guys that come it's like it has Unfortunately followed me for like a very long time like six months and it's like I haven't fucked up anything in loot mastering in Months. [00:02:52] And, oh, dude. [00:02:54] Dom: I'm gonna, I just, I just, okay. I'm not gonna interrupt you for real. No, you go. Interrupt me. [00:02:57] Josh: Interrupt me. [00:02:58] Dom: Interrupt me. I need to take a step away from [00:03:00] road. I'm like actually bleeding pretty good on my leg. Oh yeah. Cause you're a good cat. Yeah. Keep going. Let's talk about some. [00:03:07] Josh: Oh, here, here, here. [00:03:08] Let's talk about some. I'll intro. You'll do the intro? You'll do the intro? is there. [00:03:14] That's [00:03:14] Charlie: not the, that's not the intro.[00:03:30] [00:03:45] What's up everybody? Welcome to the Overachievers Gaming Podcast. [00:04:00] Charlie: Hey, we're not gonna talk, we're not gonna, I'm not gonna talk about what the, uh, what the concept was or what the, the details are, but we're gonna just say that, you know, we're, uh, the litter box extraordinaire. [00:04:11] Yeah. Uh, chef, chef Grando, um, and then, uh, who is not here in present in the front of the camera at the moment, which is Ashi Pastrami, the Ji Kena kid himself. And maybe, just maybe, a little bit of gaming news. Anyway, uh, I thought Dom was coming back in time, but apparently I was, uh, but no. Look [00:04:48] Josh: at that, look at that, look at that timing, look at that timing. The timing, [00:04:51] Charlie: we just got back. [00:04:53] Also, uh, nice headphones, Dom. Oh, you [00:04:56] Josh: got new headphones, I just realized that. I've had these [00:04:58] Dom: forever, are you guys kidding me? [00:05:00] [00:05:00] Josh: No, maybe I, no, you usually use, you usually wear these. Well, [00:05:03] Dom: so I was using earbuds, but I got these arctics probably like months ago because, um, Polly, my one cat, she chewed through my, through my, uh, whenever, whenever like we sleep in, the cats want to get fed. [00:05:15] They don't, uh, they don't like, they don't do normal things. So [00:05:21] Charlie: Polly will chew. They don't just go. [00:05:23] Josh: Yeah, you're right meow you [00:05:24] Dom: chewed through my my little ear buds No, I got these a bit ago because of that that wasn't working. They weren't working [00:05:30] anymore. So, [00:05:30] Charlie: oh, well, [00:05:31] Dom: they're great Nice, [00:05:33] Charlie: was it artix? Is that the brand? [00:05:34] I guess my sony my sony headphones are starting to fall apart of the pads. I need to get new pads I'm using [00:05:39] Josh: some basic ass. I've I've these iPhone I thought we were flexing. I was just, yeah, I mean, [00:05:48] Charlie: it's a good flex. I mean, my, an iPhone is a, is a, uh, is a [00:05:51] Josh: flex at this point. , it's okay. 'cause you know what I do? [00:05:54] Instead of buying things like nice audio equipment, I'm sorry. Instead of buying things like nice technical equipment, I [00:06:00] buy things like shiny ass Pokemon in the large quantities. You know what I'm saying? [00:06:04] Charlie: Instead of coming to Comic-Con, you'll actually go [00:06:07] Josh: and just, that has, that has nothing to do with Comic Con me not being able to come to Comic-Con me. [00:06:12] Whatcha gonna do? Charlie? I Can you come [00:06:13] Charlie: still? I'm gonna go. Yeah, I mean, I got, I got tickets. I mean, I have Josh's, so, and he already paid for them. So, if we can find someone who wants, you know, uh, to go, maybe we can get Josh's [00:06:23] Josh: money back. It's not that I don't, it's not that I don't want to go, it's that I kind of... [00:06:26] No, it's okay, [00:06:26] Dom: you don't want to go. But, so, I can find, when we post on Instagram, Instagram. [00:06:30] [00:06:30] Charlie: Sure, yeah, it's a, it's a Friday, Sunday pass. Friday, Sunday. [00:06:35] Dom: But listen, dude, it's okay that you don't like, that you don't like nerds. You weren't, you [00:06:39] Josh: weren't here to hear my reasoning as to what my very legitimate reasoning as to why I [00:06:44] Charlie: cannot go. [00:06:44] The legitimate reasoning is fine. Like we get, you're, you're, you're not good in social situations. It's okay. There's a lot of people there. And like, I know that you're, you're on. Your unfathomable fear of hotdog carts will just not let you go to the the collection. No. You know what, [00:06:58] Josh: you know what, you know what it is [00:07:00] actually, actually, you know what it is. [00:07:00] And I'm and Dom, Dom, I've been slidings skyscrapers. I've been sliding Dom's dms a little bit about this, but what I'm really a scared of is mega phobia. Mega phobia. No, when they set off the mega, you know, when the moon, you know when the phones went off this week and like they did the p s A basically like it actually, it enabled the chip inside of him. [00:07:18] Yeah, dude. Like y'all are, y'all are fucking crazy. Like, I don't want to be in that city, man. 'cause like, The G5 or the, the, what is it, the M5 [00:07:25] Dom: the fucking G5, shut the fuck up. You can't even [00:07:30] [00:07:30] Josh: say it right, [00:07:31] Charlie: you fucker. Yeah, the fucking [00:07:35] Dom: Winn Dixie motherfucker over here. That's funny. The G5, [00:07:38] Josh: oh my god. Alright, [00:07:39] Charlie: well, uh, uh, Crondo, give, give, give Dom and the listeners the rundown. I'll be back, uh, this cough kicked in immediately, so [00:07:46] Dom: I'll be right back. Wait, what rundown? of? What is there to run down? [00:07:50] Josh: What does that even mean? I actually, I think we were supposed to talk about I think the coffee just hit him like really hard And he was just like, oh shit I gotta go I got both, I [00:07:59] Dom: got both my [00:08:00] coffee and my protein shake We're going double [00:08:02] Josh: fisting right now I got water and Pokemon cards So like anyways, um [00:08:06] Dom: This is not a sponsored post I've been drinking this protein shake Yeah This Fair Life protein shake Predominantly for the last couple weeks And it has been a wonderful Wonderful, uh, breakfast alternative. [00:08:22] But you lost a bunch of lost so much weight. Yeah. Because I'm not eating a bunch of bacon and eggs every morning now. Oh! [00:08:29] Josh: Not the, not [00:08:30] the bacon and eggs, man. Can't sacrifice the bacon and eggs. Bacon and eggs are truly are [00:08:33] Dom: delicious. They are life. What kind of eggs do you like? What's your favorite egg? Me? [00:08:38] Oh bro. What's your favorite [00:08:39] Josh: style? Poached eggs all day, every day. Oh, po poached eggs [00:08:42] Dom: are truly wonderful. I mean, like as a chef, like Benedict, [00:08:44] Josh: I feel like yeah, it's, I mean, it's just like the best in my opinion, but [00:08:48] Dom: eggs benedict might be, I think when I go to a a, a more, more, if I go to like a cafe, I'll get like an eggs benedict. [00:08:54] But if I'm at like a diner, I just want like either Hammond eggs or bacon and eggs. Yeah, like sunny side up, [00:08:59] Josh: right. [00:09:00] Steaks. You gotta have sunny side up. Well, I like that. [00:09:01] Dom: Or fried egg. I like, uh, um, uh, over medium. [00:09:04] Josh: Oh yeah, over medium. Yeah, because you like the, you like the yolks to, you have like a little yolk cook consistency. [00:09:08] Yeah, yeah, [00:09:08] Dom: yeah. Sunny side is too, too [00:09:11] Josh: snotty, too runny, too run for you. And then over, over hard or [00:09:14] Dom: hard over [00:09:14] Josh: whatever the fuck. Yeah. Where it's just, it's just cooked [00:09:16] Dom: like a too much. But like over medium, you get a little break, you get a little bit of run still. But it's not like gooey or it's not like not gooey. [00:09:24] I like the gooeyness. It's not, uh, It's not gross. Yeah, it doesn't look like, uh, boogers, you know, [00:09:30] that's why I feel like sinusitis. Um, I [00:09:32] Josh: can't believe Charlie just like abandon us. He just like, yeah, go ahead. He just took off dude. All right, chef, give him the rundown. Like, Oh, or you can find us on, uh, no, I guess he didn't, but whatever. [00:09:47] It's like, um, One of these days when I pull my head out of my ass and I decided to pull up post on our tick tock. Uh, that's when you guys can tune in. I know. Yeah. I would, I would post on it, but like, but I mean, [00:10:00] are you still posting? [00:10:00] Dom: I am. Yeah. I don't have a tick tock. [00:10:02] Josh: Yeah. I'm actually, I gotta do, I gotta do another video today, but, uh, I'm learning like what's good and what's not good. [00:10:07] But, uh, I really [00:10:09] Dom: cute. Yeah. I actually, I did [00:10:13] Josh: a, I did a really, so I did a, I did a really good one because my, uh, well, I haven't, I haven't done it yet, but I, I, I recorded a good. Uh, set up for 1, 2, 2 videos because, uh, number one, the, uh, the, so the Scarlet and Violet 1 51 set that I've been [00:10:30] opening up, I mean, I've got, uh, we won't talk about how much I've actually invested in this, but it's a, it's a significant amount. [00:10:35] And, uh, , [00:10:37] Dom: I, uh, I had refinance my mortgage. I've, uh, yeah, I sold, sold, I've sold our tray reu. He's actually do it in different home. [00:10:44] Josh: Fortunately, I actually got. I fundraised most of it, uh, prior to when it came out, but then I got, I got a little dumb and did some impulse buys, but, uh, It's been worth it because I've had a lot of fun, but anyways, we, the, uh, the ultra premium collection came [00:11:00] out, which is like this big box and it's basically got like 16 packs in it. [00:11:03] And, uh, my friend, uh, Sierra came over on Friday night and she has way better luck opening cards than I do for whatever fucking reason. And so I set it up where, um, she opened the first eight packs and I opened the second round of eight and it was like me versus her. And it's like, night and day difference, how dog shit my luck is in comparison to her. [00:11:24] Like she pulled like straight bangers and I pulled like a trainer card, like [00:11:30] a very like weak full art trainer card, you know, and she pulled out like a full art blastoise and a full art Zapdos and like, he's like really create like some of the best cars in the set. And, uh, so that, that I'm going to make a video with that. [00:11:42] And then, uh, the other one, uh, last night I was opening cards with my homies and I opened up a trainer box, which is nine packs sucked ass. I opened up two more sucked. I opened, I got these little mini tins that I have like two packs each again. Yeah. Basically. But, um. At least I'm recording it all. [00:12:00] So like I am turning this stuff into content. [00:12:01] You know what I mean? So like it is gambling, but like I'm, I'm kind of using it. And, uh, then I, then I opened up, they, they came out with this, uh, Zapdos collection box, which has four packs in it. And, uh, I hope on the last pack, I opened up a full art Zapdos, which is worth about like 60 bucks. So, and the, I mean, the, the collection box was only like 22 bucks. [00:12:22] So I definitely have a lot of like content that I have of, of that I'm going to turn into videos over the next week. But, uh, it's been, it's been a [00:12:30] lot of fun. I still can't get a Charizard. Charizard full art is like the fucking one I can't fucking pull. And it's so frustrating because you go on Reddit. [00:12:37] And you'll see like so many posts. I, it's just, it just infuriates me where it's like, Oh my God, first pack magic. And it's like, I got the fucking jars. I'm literally shaking, [00:12:47] Dom: um, is like not real though. Right. [00:12:54] Josh: Of course, of course, of course. But I mean, you know, there are people out there that does happen too. [00:12:59] Dom: And it's so, I mean, yeah, it [00:13:00] has to happen. There was, um, there was, um, uh, a pro match at the gathering tournament, like a decade ago. That's like forever ago. Okay. And, um, it was, they were playing a format called, um, um, uh, Limited. Yeah. That's not the format, but that's like the type, but the format of that. [00:13:18] They were doing Sealed, I think it was. And Sealed is when you... Or Draft. No, it's Draft. Draft is when everyone gets a pack, and there's eight players. You crack the pack, take out a card you want, and you pass it to the [00:13:30] next person. You build a deck based off that. The, the, the packs make it all the way around, eight times. [00:13:35] And everyone makes a deck based off that. One of the pros... He opened his pack, and it was a foiled Tarmogoyf, which if you don't know, Tarmogoyf is one of the rarest, uh, of the older sets of magic cards, worth like a lot of money, and it was foiled. So, he's on camera, and like, he, he cracks it, and you know, it's like the face down, face down camera, and he cracks it. [00:13:56] He's like, he's like shaking, he takes it out, and he [00:14:00] kept it, but like, it's not, it wasn't a very good card. In the moment, yeah, and so people gave him shit because he kept the card for, for a like value purpose and not to win the tournament and he got a lot of shit for it, but he kept, I mean, he got a full time fucking tarmac like, you know what I mean? [00:14:16] Like, wait, what do we say? Funny? Um, and so that's why I decide I really don't like people without hair on top of their head. Right? That was right. [00:14:26] Josh: Yeah, [00:14:26] Charlie: I mean, I don't either. That's great. [00:14:29] Josh: [00:14:30] How was your, how was your deuce? Do you have your coffee or is [00:14:32] Charlie: it booming? Uh, it was like, I didn't, you know, I just woke up. [00:14:36] Wait, did you go get [00:14:37] Dom: coffee or you went to poop? I went to poop. Oh, you went to poop. I [00:14:40] Josh: knew it. I knew it. I knew [00:14:42] Charlie: it. Yeah, it's just, normally it's, normally it's like, you know, half hour, 45 minutes. It's fine. But this was just like, Calphy's like, Oh, hey there. Oh, hey there. Now that everybody needs to know what my, uh, [00:14:52] Josh: whatever. [00:14:53] Body type is like. So anyways, so even, I will say this much, even though I am buying a shitload of Pokemon cards, I started playing the [00:15:00] actual trading card game. Okay, so I am actually not just not just amassing this horde of shiny Pokemon I am actually playing the game and trying to use some of these things and It's actually kind of crazy how few of the cards are useful when you start like figuring out what's good in the game but uh Yeah, I, uh, I'm, I'm, I've put my deck, I'm, I've got about like half my deck constructed and I'm, uh, going to go to, uh, I'm going to go to a local tournament and I'm going to see how I do and [00:15:30] see how it goes from there. [00:15:32] Oh yeah, [00:15:32] Dom: dude. Playing in, I'll tell you right now from someone who just really enjoys playing. Um, do you need, what are you doing? You know, you got a guest. Well, it's because it's starting to get my rooms a fucking mess. Usually it's blurred when I do, uh, work calls. Uh. In in the [00:15:52] Josh: winter, it's all based around this guy right here. [00:15:56] Dom: Um, Playing in like things like [00:16:00] this competitively is super fun because you, you get like a different kind of appreciation, like the things that you own, like the models, like, you know, I build and paint a ton of models in Warhammer that not barely any of them will see play, but the nice thing about like doing competitive things like this is you like build your, you build your shit out, you go to do this, you're like, Oh, well this really performed well, that performed, and you like tinker with it and it just gives you like a different kind of appreciation. [00:16:25] Right. Doing actually crazy enough. I have like pretty [00:16:30] busy like tournament like season coming up for me I'm nice Boston in December for a grand tournament, which is like a 200 person Warhammer tournament. No shit. Okay in January I'll be in Vegas for a thousand person [00:16:42] Josh: Warhammer. Do you get like ranked when you go to these tournaments? [00:16:45] Yeah. Yeah Yeah, so it's like a world championship, right? [00:16:48] Yeah. [00:16:49] Dom: Well, yeah Yeah, I guess [00:16:52] Josh: it all goes towards [00:16:53] Dom: like, uh, there's like a point system. It's called, uh, best coast pairing is, is the, is the tournament [00:17:00] organization. No, not the tournament organization. Oh, ITC. That's what it is. ITC is, uh, is who like does all like the rankings and stuff. [00:17:08] Like last year I finished with, with leagues vote in the main faction of play. I finished like, I think top hundred in the world, uh, which was really cool because I didn't really play that much big tournaments. Anything but you know. But I would like to do more. I wanted to do more this year, but there was a new edition that just came out and the whole, everything was really fucking weird about it. [00:17:29] Next year I'm [00:17:30] gonna care more about it, I think, but in January that will end out this year, like 2020 three's competitive season, so, so it won. I didn't really do too many tournaments, so it really won't really matter for this year. Yeah. December, I'm going out to Boston, January's the Las Vegas Open, which is like a thousand. [00:17:48] It's like a massive, and then in February, I'll be in Rhode Island for a grand tournament, which is like, I'm gonna like 200 people. And so I'm trying to like, do more of those big ones. Cause it's really fun. Like, you know, usually like. [00:18:00] It's like five or so of us that will travel to these from like the shop I play at and like it's just like It's like kind of a silly fun thing. [00:18:08] Like I'm gone bringing my little magnet case and like, you know, [00:18:12] Josh: bringing all my stuff Hey, dude, you're talking to a guy that's sitting here is sat here for four hours last night and organized his fucking Pokemon cards to put together a deck. [00:18:21] Dom: So what like what is just like The rundown of a... Also, my app is focused. [00:18:28] Why does it say it's not focused? Oh, because I was clicked on [00:18:30] the... [00:18:32] Josh: Oh, an actual Pokemon [00:18:33] Dom: game? Yeah, I'm actually, oh, yeah, I'm watching a Pokemon game. No, yeah, I want, I want, I'm just curious. Oh, yeah, yeah, so, so, like, you draw, like, what's your, what's your hand? Seven cards? Yes, [00:18:42] Josh: but you, like, at the beginning, you pick six out and you have to put them to the side as prize cards. [00:18:48] And, like, you can kind of think of your prize cards as your, like, health pool. And, uh, cause once there's two, there's two, uh, two ways to victory. Number one, if you, each [00:19:00] person has to have an active Pokemon, right? So like when you get your first hand, if you don't get an act of Pokemon, you can put out, then you take them all again and you have to redraw until you have at least one first turn. [00:19:12] Both, both people take their turns. Um, that's like the staging phase, I guess you could, you could think of it as, and you put out your active Pokemon. And then you can put out any other regular ones on your bench. You can have up to six on your bench. Okay. And some, some Pokemon have abilities you can use [00:19:30] during your turn from the bench, like Pidgeot, like Pidgeot, for example, has an ability called quick search, where you can once per turn, look through your deck and pick out. [00:19:40] Any card you want, so the [00:19:42] Dom: stuff on your bench is interactable, even though that's correct. [00:19:45] Josh: Yeah, that's correct. Yeah. So like I load my bench up with all I try to load it up with like two Pidgeot X's because then I can look through my deck twice per turn and pull out. Any card I want twice and it becomes pretty fucking OP, [00:20:00] you know what I mean? [00:20:00] Very fast and it can spiral out like within two to three turns for the enemy. But like the other the other caveat to winning is the other condition Is if you kill the active pokemon and the opponent doesn't have anybody on their bench you instantaneously win And I was that's charlie when I came in winning when I came in laughing my ass off earlier That's what I did like unbeknownst to like what I was setting up For turn two, like I was doing all these things to this guy and I didn't even look and realize the line. [00:20:26] Yeah, I play online. Is [00:20:27] Dom: it through like [00:20:28] Josh: official Pokemon or is it through? Yeah, there's like an [00:20:30] actual. So like when you open a pack of cards at the end of the pack, there's like a code card. Um, I don't know. I had, I used to have a million of my just cashed all of them in, but you get like one code card. [00:20:42] It's like a digital pack in the game. Right. So like I've redeemed like hundreds of packs basically from all the [00:20:47] Dom: stuff that I've opened. That's what I would do. Kind of similar. Similarly with magic. It's funny you mentioned that bench thing. That does not exist too much in magic where you could take, like, you have a sideboard, but that just means that in between games, you get to shuffle in [00:21:00] cyborg cards in your regular, depending on who you're playing against. [00:21:02] But there are some cards, very rarely. It'll allow you to interact with things outside of your normal game. Gotcha. There used to be this one card that said, um, you could like, like, very simple terms, like you could add in, like while you're playing, you could add in a card from outside the game. There was no rules on what that meant. [00:21:20] What? So it was literally, people would literally bring, like, A million cards with them and then they would they like, oh, I'm playing against this. I'm gonna add [00:21:30] in some fucking That's the dumb dad One time there was a big tournament and this person had this card You know, they're playing against someone that was about to beat them and they knew another player had this like other busted card They literally Like, yo, lemme get that card. [00:21:43] Let me borrow your card. And they took the card in from a different player. 'cause it, dude, there were no rules around. Dude. Fuck the fuck man. I, I mean, there were no rules around that and that, you know what I mean? I, you [00:21:51] Josh: know. Okay, so, so let me, lemme finish explaining. So, so with po, so with Pokemon, again, like there's, so each time you kill the enemy's act of Pokemon, [00:22:00] that's how you win a prize card. [00:22:01] And there are like the star and. Uh, EX cards, V star and EX are usually like the evolved versions of Pokemon or like the better versions and they award two prize cards if they're killed. So anyways, the game, the game is pretty cool. I've been having fun with it. I've been learning a lot of the different decks and I'm looking for it. [00:22:22] So they actually, the cool thing is that the league I'm going to is called the Masters League and it's only for people that were born before 2004. [00:22:30] So I won't be like. Total, you know, anyway, I, don't be a creepy uncle. Exactly. Cause like I, I, I called the store and I was like, bro, like, I don't want to seem like if I, I'm just like, I've been collecting and I just thought it'd be cool to like, check it out. [00:22:43] And he's like, Oh yeah, no man. He's like, usually people are like, I get a lot of dads and you know. Like older dudes that are in here. And I was like, perfect. Like, that's what I'm looking at. Like, that's, I don't want to go play with a bunch of kids. Like, I would feel like actually like a fucking loser if I went and, and it's like, ha kid, I beat you with, cause I have a, I have a [00:23:00] job where I make all my money and I can buy whatever the fuck I want. [00:23:02] And you just got stomped. Like, that was feel like actual. I saved up all of my, [00:23:07] Dom: my, all of my cash to be able to buy this one pot. Why did you do that? [00:23:14] Josh: The first, a [00:23:16] Dom: normal, a normal, a normal Warhammer, like a local Warhammer tournament, it's called an RTT. Okay. Stanford road trader tournament in the nineties. But now you just call it RTT. That's just like your local shop puts it together. But those points go towards your, your [00:23:30] like ITC ranking. Hilariously. [00:23:31] Okay. But so the first time I ever did, when I was so excited, I brought my army that I just finished painting. It was like the Egyptian dudes, the thousand sons. That was my first time. Two other people were playing thousand sons at this tournament. I went, uh, I was, I was, I lost two games, or I may have lost, I don't, whatever it was, my third game, I ended up going 1 and 2 at the tournament, so I was like 1 and 1 at this point. [00:23:56] I, my third game was against this young kid named Connor, who was like [00:24:00] 10 I think at the time, super sweet kid, plays this shop all the time, everyone, he's like, everyone's favorite like, Like kid at the store. Everyone's like, Oh, Connor really got high fives all the adults like, you know, he's like a super kid. [00:24:10] He like tries to be funny like You beat this kid's [00:24:12] Josh: ass, didn't [00:24:12] Dom: you? I'm, I'm waiting. So I beat him. Yeah, so I beat him. And we shook hands. He was like so, he was super like, like straight faced guy. We shook hands. He was like, Oh, thanks. And I was like, Oh, thanks, Connor. And he walked away and I see him go to his dad and he starts crying. [00:24:25] How old is this kid? He was like, probably 10. Oh, shit. And I was like, I was [00:24:30] like, fuck, dude, no fucking way. And I'm like, I'm like, Connor, what's wrong, dude? And he's like, you know, he's like, I'm not sad that I lost. And this was actually like a very, like, he like put, he said this very like, um. Maturely? Yeah, he's like, I'm not sad that I lost. [00:24:44] It was a really fun game. He's like, I, I played against your army three times today and I just didn't have fun. Like he played against three, all three thousands of players at this tournament. Oh. And he's like, it was the same game for three games. And it just wasn't very fun. He's like, you didn't do anything. [00:24:57] I was like, I'm sorry. And he's like, he's like, I was like, dude, you're fine, [00:25:00] buddy. You know, and I went, I went back to like my, my, like getting my stuff ready. I'm just sitting there like, I will not be responsible for making a 10 year old cry. So I went to Zeke. It's not really your fault, man. Like, I mean, but, but again, I don't give a fuck. [00:25:14] That's my fault or not. I don't, I'm playing with plastic toys. And I was like, yeah, Zeke, I was like, you know what? Uh, I messed up my scoring. I think Connor won. And Zeke's like. And I was like, yeah, I think I messed up, Connor won, and I went back over to Connor, I was like, dude, I did the math wrong, Connor, you [00:25:30] actually won by a couple points, dude, this was your game, you got it, and this kid was like, fucking Christmas, cause he won a game today, and I was like, Yeah, dude, all good and someone was like, oh, you know, like there was a lesson there I was like listen, I'm not here to give a fucking ten year old a lesson And I wouldn't with playing dice like I don't give a fuck cuz I got my [00:25:49] Josh: I remember I remember when I was like But I think I [00:25:54] Dom: was like 13 Maybe that that's happened to all of us, right? [00:25:57] Yeah, I remember I got [00:25:59] Josh: [00:26:00] Stomped at the Star Wars tournaments, dude, and those dudes used to just kick my ass and not feel [00:26:04] Dom: bad about it. But I'm not trying to [00:26:05] Josh: be though. And they would get pissed when I beat them too, dude. Oh, they'd be so [00:26:10] Dom: mad. I think the lesson here is to not be like those. Yeah. [00:26:14] Charlie: The lesson is to not be an asshole. [00:26:16] Josh: Yeah. Yeah. Oh, I felt so good to be the kid and beat the, beat the older, older people, [00:26:20] Dom: dude. The only reason I ever, I ever regret letting Connor win is for like a month straight. He'd come up to me like, Oh, dude, I remember I beat you. I was like, you [00:26:30] little fucker. I'd be like, I'd be like, [00:26:32] Josh: I mean, you know. He was like, do you want [00:26:35] Charlie: me to, Actually, let me think on that. [00:26:37] You can replay [00:26:38] Josh: that again, dude. I got my army with me, dog. You know, we can resimulate this shit, you know. I've [00:26:43] Dom: beaten Connor. Well, since then I've beaten Connor. I was like, everyone gets one kid. [00:26:48] Josh: Everybody gets one, you get one, you've been popping your mouth. Awesome. Now [00:26:52] Dom: I'm going to have to see. No, but he's like a super sweet kid. [00:26:54] He's the best Connor. Connor's a really, he's a good dude. But yeah, I, I was just like, I have a [00:27:00] feeling responsible here for [00:27:01] Josh: this. So Dom, like, like when you were, I'm curious, cause like, I, I know when you, when you're getting ready to go to your first, uh, Warhammer tournament or whatever, like, did you go into it? [00:27:10] Just, just automatically saying like, I'm just going to get, I know I'm going to get stomped today. [00:27:14] Dom: So when I went to. For, in this year, I went to, because I went to Vegas in January for the, my first time I ever did it, it's called a Super Major. That's where the Las Vegas Open is. When I went to Vegas, it was like 10 of us, it was so tight. [00:27:27] I fully was going for the experience. I [00:27:30] thought I was just going to lose like every single game. I expected every single person there to be a pro. But the cool thing about these tournaments is that's not the fucking case. There's like... So many people playing, it's other people just like me. Yeah. Unless you statistically get, cause like once you play your first game, you already know what the end, the end's gonna be. [00:27:48] Because the pros are the ones that are there, winning by a hundred. And then they get, they get their next matchup and they're going against other people that won by a hundred. And so their, their path to the top is already been [00:28:00] selected from turn one. Yeah. Interesting. So like, for me, I was like, Oh, I'm going to, I'm going to go fucking, Oh, like a fucking 0 and 8 or whatever. [00:28:07] Cause it's like, you know, you get like a million matches at the big tournaments, you know, at the, at the local thing. It's only three, but like the GT, I'm playing a grand tournament, which is a major in December. That's five matches. Three the first day, two the second day. So like, when I went to Vegas, I was like, oh, I'm gonna get fucking stomped, I'm gonna go 0 6, I'm gonna get so messed up, but I went 3 2 1, I had one draw, which was annoying, so I did way better than I thought I ever could have done going to Vegas to play a large [00:28:30] Warhammer tournament, so that was really, but I expected that, when I go to the local things, I don't really give a fuck, I'm just playing with my buds, like, I'm just trying to be silly, you know, but [00:28:37] Josh: like Well, I've been playing, I've been playing a lot of the online thing, cause I wanna like, I basically, be built my deck on there. [00:28:45] Oh, dude, I'm like, I'm stomping people right now. And I mean, I'm like, Josh is out here playing [00:28:51] Dom: bots. [00:28:52] Josh: No, no, dude. Like, [00:28:58] they take away. [00:29:00] No, dude. Like, like, I actually, like, I, I had to like, check myself myself the other day because like, I thought about it and I was like, I was like, man, like I'm sitting here like talking shit. Like I just, I just, I inherently just like, I just. Love to talk shit. Like I just it's just part of who I am. [00:29:15] You're such a fucking toxic gamer. No, I grew up at the Halo 2 era, bro. We used to I'm from the OG era. I'm gonna fuck your mom. Okay, like I'm a father. Like, you know, like I'm from that like that the way back of the day before they [00:29:30] had But you're playing Pokemon, Jon. It's not Halo. So check it out. I know. [00:29:33] You [00:29:35] Dom: And I know, [00:29:36] Josh: I know that, I know that I'm not, I'm not like hold on. Can you imagine what Mallory just heard in the next room? [00:29:42] Dom: Thank God she's gone. Thank, I would not have been screaming that if she was home still. She's doing flowers. Hold on, [00:29:49] Josh: hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. I know that's why, like, the other day, like, I, I, I had [00:29:59] to [00:30:00] check myself because like, I'm like, man, I could possibly be playing against like a, I, I, I had to check, I had to check myself cause I'm like, man, I can be playing as like a nine year old kid and I'm over here like talking shit. Like, I'm like, I got to stop doing this, but nonetheless, like I, uh, [00:30:15] Dom: nonetheless, I told the kid I bugged. [00:30:17] Josh: I did. Yeah. I'll give him the, give him the game. I'll him. The thumbs dos down all day long. Dude. I'll talk shit to the OTES all day. [00:30:24] Dom: What was that mobile MOBA game that came out from Marvel a while ago? Do you remember? Uh, [00:30:30] [00:30:30] Josh: Mar the Mobo one. There was a mobile mo. Oh yeah, yeah. The one that never actually released. [00:30:35] It was only got released in America. It was only ever. I know you're talking about Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I remember trying it out . It's like, yeah, [00:30:41] Charlie: I remember Champions, champions of Power or something like [00:30:42] Dom: that, or, so I remember playing it and I was fucking killing it. Mm-hmm. I was like, yo, yo, yo. We had someone Super war. [00:30:46] That's right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Super war. We had someone on the pod. I was like, yo guys, I'm fucking killing it. And they're like, yeah, dude, you won't get matched up against bots. Like, I'm just, I'm just... I [00:30:56] Josh: do remember that, I do remember that, yeah. It was, huge, I think, [00:31:00] yeah. I think it was, I was like, [00:31:01] Dom: I was like, yo. [00:31:04] I remember, I was like, yo, I'm just fucking [00:31:06] Josh: slaving it. Ha ha! [00:31:09] Charlie: It's like, yeah, because it's not about people. [00:31:11] Josh: Dude, that was so [00:31:12] Dom: funny. I was like, yeah, you're only playing [00:31:13] Josh: bots, of course you're fucking slaving it. Yeah, that's me, that's me. I'm, I'm, I'm just playing against bots. Damn, that was so yeah, that was funny. [00:31:22] Charlie: Well before we get into video games Dom I actually started building my own. That's true. [00:31:28] Josh: Yes, that's true. Would you finally start [00:31:30] an army? [00:31:30] Dom: He started building and painting some of the stuff he had. So you got your Necron, your Space Marines, then you got some Urks, and you got, uh, some Stormcast. So you got, you got both, you got both. [00:31:40] Oh, did that, did that link, that Reddit link, did you find instructions? Uh, [00:31:44] Charlie: no, I haven't, I didn't get into that yet. So I was in the, I was in the middle of just trying to get everything painted black first because some of those things are like, I'm like, I don't know how I'm going to get in here with a, with a paintbrush to [00:31:54] Dom: paint some of this stuff. [00:31:54] So Like if you have, um, uh, so, okay. So like these guys. [00:32:00] I don't know if I'm gonna be able to do this. So you don't have to get in every crevice, right? So like, here's this, here's like this little, uh, Is it, is it focusing? Gettin there, yep. Yep. So this, this is like a Thunderkin, right? So if you can see behind the gun, and under this little bar he has, that's like part of his suit and shit, right? [00:32:18] Yeah. I'm not painting... I'm not painting under, under the gun. I'm not painting back in there. There's no, there's no, you don't need, there's no point. There's no [00:32:30] reason you're not going to see it. Your players, if you want though, which some people do. So these little guys, right. I built these guys, like they had this big ass gun. [00:32:40] You can see the chest so I wanted to paint that so what I did was I did what's called batch painting So this isn't but like I painted it without the gun on the chest Yeah And then I later went on actually I magnetized every single one of these because they have different weapon loadouts. It doesn't matter So every single one of these little guys [00:33:00] has magnets in the arms so I could switch out [00:33:01] Charlie: Magnets in the arms! [00:33:03] I don't know how you do that, just glue? Yeah, well I have Andremol [00:33:07] Josh: and glue? [00:33:07] Dom: I have a little dremel. Yeah. I have a little fucking hand, uh, dremel, like a little tiny little hobby, uh, drill bit. And I, I drill into the arms. I have like, you know, teeny tiny little magnets. I put them into the arms. I put them into the, yeah. [00:33:23] Into the body. That's cool. Well, cause like, here's the thing. Some tournaments do what's called WYSIWYG, which stands for what you [00:33:30] see is what you get. So some tournaments are, like, if your guy's modeled with an axe, he has to play with that axe. Or if your guy's modeled in a way that it doesn't work, that guy just doesn't come up onto the board, he's dead. [00:33:46] So you're out a model in a unit. So like, some are very strict about it. It's not usually the case, thank God. But some are pretty fucking strict about it, so like I, I made sure that the one I play mostly at tournaments, which are Leagues of Otay on my Space Dwarves, I'm like fairly able to like switch shit [00:34:00] out on them, which otherwise would be [00:34:02] Charlie: really annoying if, you know, but... [00:34:04] Yeah, I mean that's cool, I'm, I mean I got in, it's, it was cool to get into the... You don't have to do any of that shit. Yeah, not yet, I'm, I'm just getting to the point like I wanna, I wanna paint them, I wanna... you built, yeah, I just wanna paint them, and I wanna, you know, my wife and I are gonna try to play some local stuff. [00:34:17] Not local, but like, her and I are gonna try it out. Be cool. I mean, that's what I want. That's what I want to do. We used to be, we used to be big into, um, just like board game stuff anyway, so it's kind of, I like the skirmishes and trying to figure [00:34:30] out some things, so. Hell yeah. I read through, excuse me, I read through all the, uh, rule books and, uh, the lore and everything. [00:34:35] That's, that's cool. So [00:34:37] Dom: the rule books that you may have, if they came with the stuff you bought at the time, Charlie may be outdated at this point because there's a new edition. Um, but all of the rule stuff is now online. There's two apps, uh, that Warhammer puts out and they both give you the rules for free. [00:34:55] There's Warhammer 40k and that has all of the rules for the game for free that's [00:35:00] updated constantly and there's Warhammer AOS Which is for Age of Sigmar also has all the rules for free So if you if you download those you'll be able to to check back up on whatever gets updated at the time Um, but also like the, the way you learn to play this game as you, as you act, or you just play it, like it makes no sense, but you're just like, Oh, I'm slugging dice and it gets figured out. [00:35:21] Josh: That's literally how I, I didn't do any tutorials or read any instructions on how to play Pokemon TCG. I quite literally just like started playing a game and [00:35:30] lost like the first five games. And then I just started stomping people against the bots. Um, and, uh, not really, but like it, it really. Yeah, I think it's a bit like you were saying, it's the best way to learn. [00:35:40] Just get in there and get started. It's the best. It's [00:35:42] Dom: the best way to learn. Yeah, [00:35:44] Charlie: but it's cool. I mean, when I had my lunch hour, I would just sit there and I'd eat in five minutes and then I just sit and build. And then I painted everything yesterday or blocked everything out. [00:35:54] Josh: Yeah, there's another game that I want to play really badly. [00:35:57] Disney Lurkana. But I cannot [00:36:00] get the fucking cards, like they're so hard to get right now. Like scalpers are going absolutely. Buckshit crazy for it. And it's just uh, like they can walk into Target or Walmart or whatever Clean the shelves off and spit throw it up on Facebook marketplace and sell like instantly did for like twice [00:36:19] Dom: the price shops I could only even they're not either they're not getting them or it's like it's fucked up [00:36:25] Josh: Um, no, the local shops really aren't there but most of the distributors are pushing it out through [00:36:30] the the big box stores and it's just flipping like instantaneously and Yeah. [00:36:37] And, uh, the, the second print of the game, so I've been like ball. So I actually, I didn't even say this earlier, but I, uh, the earlier on Friday I got my official, uh, notice that Florida Man's Pokemon is a licensed business in the state of Florida. Oh, congratulations. Yeah. So, um, I've been like, obviously, really heavily researching like what's [00:37:00] popular in the trading card game world right now. [00:37:02] And ironically, in a weird way, like magic's probably lower on the totem pole. For some reason, one piece has a trading card game that is, yeah, we talked about that last time. I did. I did talk about it last time. Yeah. It's just, it's just really, it's actually like the new set came out like the same time. [00:37:20] That are like set for, I think, came out the same time that one 51 came out a couple weeks ago on the 22nd. And it's just like bonkers to me, like watching how much, how much like [00:37:30] money people are spending on these games. Like it's actually mind blowing to me and uh, it's, it's taken, it's definitely taken over like my interest a little bit on, uh, More so than video games, mostly because, um, I really haven't liked a lot of the modern video games that are coming out. [00:37:46] And I feel like we were talking about this earlier this week with huge, like he was asking some questions about like how we feel about modern day video games and things like that. And that's just like, I don't know, like Baldur's gate would probably be the exception of where I say, [00:38:00] like. 90 percent of modern games just don't keep my attention for more than like a couple hours. [00:38:05] And this stuff's like really interesting to me. And I don't know. I like the idea of the fact that you can like go out and meet, meet other people that are into it. And it's a little bit less reclusive of a hobby, you know? And I think that's what I was looking for is like something that's gaming related. [00:38:19] That's not as, not as a, all I do is sit at home like, wow. [00:38:29] So I'm pretty excited to get [00:38:30] into it. I'm excited to get into my first match and see how I, how, how, how it goes. Yeah. Like I'm, I, and I, and I don't think I'm going to, I think I'm just going to like rip off the bandaid and just go straight into a league match. Like I'm not even gonna like bother with, with going to like, you know, the local tournaments or whatever. [00:38:46] Cause I don't really want to go. I'd rather just show up and that people don't know who I am. Just throw money at the problem. Yes, go for it. It's only 10 bucks to get in the tournament. I'm just saying. Yeah, like I, I'm going to go in there. I'm going to, I, I'm fairly confident that I'm going to [00:39:00] stomp people with this deck. [00:39:00] Either that, or I'm going to get stomped, absolutely annihilated. And I'm going to come back on the pod in like three weeks and be like, well. Week one tournament, Chef Krondo got ass stomped by Palkia and whatever like, you know, some nine year old kid named Conor. Some nine year old kid named Conor just stomped me into oblivion. [00:39:22] It's like I went in the car and called my dad and started crying talking about midlife crisis. That, [00:39:27] Charlie: uh, [00:39:28] Josh: Dad! I just got [00:39:30] beat by this 8 year old Connor. I spent like 2, 000 on Pokédex [00:39:33] Charlie: cards. He's just getting younger every single time I mention him. Yeah, that's [00:39:35] Josh: really funny. Did I say 8 [00:39:38] Dom: year old? He said 8. [00:39:39] I've been cool. Oh my god. What are you play? I know. Well, Counter Strike 2 came out. Oh! Isn't that hilarious? Official? Yeah, they stealth came out with Counter Strike 2. Like, Valve is just like, oh, here, by the way, here's Counter Strike 2, everyone. It was like a week or two ago. Really? Um, yeah. [00:40:00] And so, I used to be a big Counter Strike fan when I was a child. [00:40:03] When I was like, literally in high school. Me and my, me and my one of my best friends, Benny Arender. We would, there was a place in the mall. Cause both of us had like really shitty, like gateway PCs. There was a place in the mall called games three or something. And, uh, you can go and you could pay 15 bucks and play all day. [00:40:20] Anything you wanted. They had a bunch of computers. They had all the X Boxes lined up. So we would show up and we both just play counter strike. Um, and then finally, as we got a little older, our computers could handle a little bit better, [00:40:30] but, um, yeah, I used to love counter strike so much when I was a kid. [00:40:33] I was so bad at it, but counter strike 2 came out and it was free, you know, like. That's the cool thing about Counter Strike is, we're just like, here's this game. Valve is like, we just do this shit. Um, and so uh, Counter Strike 2 came out, I've been playing it very casually, and uh, I'm just so bad at it. [00:40:53] It's like hilariously bad at it. Yeah, [00:40:55] Josh: well you're not practiced. Like, the people that are playing that shit have the mechanical skill of [00:41:00] like, instantaneously headshotting you with shit. [00:41:02] Dom: I'm curious of like getting into it a little bit more competitively, but I had to stop the other day. Like it's like the most counter strike bullshit ever. [00:41:09] I got called the n word twice. I was like, okay, I'm done playing this for the day. Yeah, that's common. This is counter strike in a nutshell right [00:41:15] Josh: here. Yeah, a hundred percent. That's how I remember OG counter strike a hundred percent Yeah, and so like Chinese slurs and and that [00:41:24] Dom: it's it is the most derogatory setting Of any, of any video game. [00:41:29] It's [00:41:30] like [00:41:30] Josh: crazy how toxic it is. Yeah, I think it's probably, I think it probably is more toxic than League, and League is pretty much up there as one of the most toxic games of all time. It's just like, I'm [00:41:38] Dom: playing casually and all everyone does is like all they're, everyone is doing is just yelling at each other. [00:41:44] I think it's the proving, [00:41:45] Josh: I think it was the proving grounds for, for all the toxic people to like grow on in life. More games came out. Yeah, to evolve to become like the overlords of toxicity. You know? Yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:41:55] Dom: Yeah, it's been really fun though, because I, I used to love, it's all the same maps pretty much. [00:41:59] I used to [00:42:00] really love playing it. All FPSs are so bad. But, uh, the crazy thing about Counter Strike game style, like Counter Strike and Valorant, whatever other games that are similar to it, is like, it's so different from other FPSs in terms of like how shooting works. Like Counter Strike? Yeah. I don't know if it's so much more like, if it's like realistic or whatever, but it's like. [00:42:22] You can't move and shoot ever. That just isn't a thing, right? Like, cause the bullet, uh, drag or whatever you [00:42:30] call it is just everywhere. And it's just such a weird, it's so much like crouching and moving. Cause you got to stop real quick and you have your reticule. It goes back to being, it's just a weird games. [00:42:40] It's just a weird shooting. Like, you know, Halo, you're running and all you're doing is running and shooting, you know, um, bouncing around sniping. It's like so hard to do. And yeah, it's, it's just crazy, but it's been really fun because. It's more so just fun. 'cause for nostalgia, I don't really give a shit about it outside of any anything. [00:42:57] I, I'll probably stop in the next like couple weeks, but, [00:43:00] um, it's been funny to play a new Counterstrike in 2023. Like what a, what a word. Just what a sentence to [00:43:05] Charlie: say out loud. I literally just had somebody in my steam just pop up and says, no, this person's not playing. Counterstrike too, as you said [00:43:11] Josh: that So [00:43:11] Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Was it, was it Dom by any chance? No. . Is he loading it up? Surprisingly, surprisingly. Did you load it up? Getting a little bored? [00:43:18] Dom: That would've been very funny. I'm getting a little bored on [00:43:21] Josh: this. I'm kidding. I'm kidding. [00:43:22] Dom: It was, yeah, but, uh, and also I was still playing Phasmophobia a bunch, just cause it's like my favorite fucking game at this point. [00:43:28] I think Phasmophobia [00:43:30] might be one of my favorite games of all time. Hilariously enough, this stupid ghost hunting game is like one of my favorite games. Hey, [00:43:36] Charlie: whatever you enjoy. Speaking of, it's just so silly. Speaking of favorite games, uh, Assassin's Creed Mirage dropped like three days ago. [00:43:42] Dom: Was is, I didn't even know they were doing a new Assassin's [00:43:44] Charlie: Creed. [00:43:44] Yeah, that was, um, [00:43:49] Josh: yeah. [00:43:50] Charlie: That's says in the, in the, in the chat. If you know that plot twist, that person calling you the N word is Connor and he's gone. Evil. [00:43:58] Josh: Uh, so good. He found [00:44:00] you. He tracked you down. [00:44:02] Charlie: Call back. That was a good one. Uh, but yeah, no, there's a new Assassin's Creed called Assassin's Creed Mirage. It's an homage to the original Assassin's Creed. [00:44:10] It takes place with, uh, Basim. Um, I don't remember when. So it's like, not. I don't know what the timeline is for the original one. Cause, uh, I think the original one was like the ADs. And this is BC. Or CE. It's common error, so C, so it's like [00:44:30] 800 something, I can't remember, but the, um, the, it's, it's, I mean, it's fun, it's, it's hard, um, I'm, I was surprised at how difficult it is, or I just, I just suck at pairing because I was just like, I was just having like throwbacks to, uh, Sekiro. [00:44:46] Uh, [00:44:47] Josh: I was just like, no, I can't do this. Did you say flashbacks or PTSD? I think PTSD is the correct word. The Vietnam dog. Oh my God, bro. Fuck that game so hard, dude. I'll never forget. Fine. Like [00:45:00] thinking for a second being like, I got this. I got this. Like I could, I could play this game. And then you find that Valley where that. [00:45:07] Dumbass snake is flying around all over the place and I turn the game off and never put never walk. Never. I [00:45:11] Charlie: got I Surprisingly beat that the first try on the snake thing. I did that the first time that wasn't a game that That one god damn [00:45:20] Josh: See it's still getting me. It's getting me choked [00:45:22] Charlie: up That one that wasn't the one the one that really got me was there's like one little night That you had to go and fight and you had to get into like this [00:45:30] building Um, and it took like 5 or 10 minutes to get there because of all the people you had to like, kill along the way. [00:45:35] And like, and like, okay, cool. I got there. I like, masquerally did this. And the guy comes in, and if you don't parry the first move, he kills you instantly. I was like, fuck. So I was like, I got to the point where I'm like, okay, cool. I got this. I was like, I got his health bar down. I got his health bar down. [00:45:49] And there's a second health bar. I'm like, motherfucker. Yeah. Like, I can't believe there's a second health bar. I was like, alright, I'm not doing this game anymore. But anyway. The game, uh, is quite fun. [00:46:00] And it really puts in, there's no levels anymore, which thank God, there's no more levels. There's no less of an RPG element. [00:46:05] It's just more of a stealth action game, which I kind of, uh, find enjoyable anyway. And, um, so yeah, you get, I mean, you get skills that you can level up, but there's no like level per se, there's no like gear that you have to find. That's like randomly you have to buy and then forge your equipment and whatnot. [00:46:20] Like you used to in the original one. A lot of fun. I'm probably only like a couple hours in because I just started playing yesterday, but, um, and then I'm headed for, you know, a work [00:46:30] event, um, all this week, so. Oh, where are you going this week? Headed to LA. For Adobe Max. So, if anyone's going to Adobe Max. [00:46:37] Is that a trade show? And, uh, well it's not a trade show per se. It's like Adobe's, um, um, It's a showcase. Creative showcase, yeah. Wait, when do you get back? [00:46:45] Dom: Are you, you're kind of, like, [00:46:46] Charlie: Thursday? I get back Thursday, yep. Ah, [00:46:48] Dom: okay, then you're, okay, cool. Yeah, so I, I get Josh didn't want. [00:46:54] Josh: I didn't want Alright, so so anyways about video games, uh, so I bought two video games. [00:46:59] I'm [00:47:00] not done yet. Okay, go ahead No, you wouldn't you wouldn't you wouldn't talking shit. So I know Don [00:47:05] Charlie: went to talk shit. I was still true doing I'm still trying to figure out. All [00:47:09] Josh: right, I'll back up [00:47:10] Charlie: 350 [00:47:15] I don't remember what it is. 350. 160 something. No. I forget what it is. I'll find out. Uh, anyway. Game's fun. Highly recommend it. If you're an Assassin's Creed fan of the original, it's, I, I would definitely recommend playing it. It's not like The Last [00:47:30] Three at all, so if it's, if you are a fan of Valhalla, Odyssey and Origins, it's not that game, uh, style whatsoever. [00:47:37] It's definitely different. Yeah. Combat is actually very hard, so the idea is to not get into combat. But, um, if you are, if you find the right gear, you can make it. So if you Perry once or twice, you can instant kill people, which is what I'm trying to do. So, but then I have to go back to pairing, which is what gives me PTSD for zero. [00:47:54] So anyway, that's it. That's really the only game I'm playing besides the games I've been normally [00:48:00] playing on my phone, so. Nice. Although there's that new game, Dragonair, that just came out for, um, for, for mobile that is, that I've seen a bunch of other people play. I know, uh, OSUBD sent me the link to check out, um, What the fuck's it called? [00:48:15] Dragonair? Dragonair. H E I R. Um, it seems, it seems okay. I just can't, it's like um, D& D style, it sounds like they're trying to capitalize on the, [00:48:29] I'm trying [00:48:30] to think of the word, it seems like they're trying to Baldur's Gate stuff with how it's the game looks good, I just haven't really figured it out, and it's on a PC in Epic Store? Oh, interesting. Um, it's just another character collector game, but I can't, I can only do so much cause I'm still playing eternal evolution and Lord of the Rings. [00:48:51] You love that eternal evolution game. I love that game. That game is great. Yeah. There's a collaboration event that's going on right now. That's kind of sucks, but whatever. Between the game and just [00:49:00] Michelle my [00:49:00] Josh: mobile game now is Pokemon trading code game but um, so counts, I'm I'm still loving Baldur's Gate Toronto and I got to act three. [00:49:11] The game is absolutely fucking fire at this point. Like I Yeah, I just got off the game is insane like my the the abilities that you get later on in the game are Disgusting. Like, my, our characters are just OOP as hell. Like, we're just duking everybody. Like, it's not even [00:49:30] fun. I mean, I'm sorry. It's not even fair is the word I was looking for, but, uh, [00:49:35] Charlie: it's not fun anymore. [00:49:36] I just kill [00:49:36] Josh: everything. Oh, it's great. We just, we just mow everything down. Like we go up in these fights where it's just like these epic bosses or whatever, and we're just like blowing them up in one turn and we're laughing hysterically about it. Cause it's just, our characters are gross, but, [00:49:50] Charlie: uh, yeah, we're looking forward to actually playing. [00:49:51] Now that I've played the game and gotten in, getting past act one, like I understand it now. So now I definitely want to get back. I want to check out the, yeah, [00:49:58] Josh: yeah, sure. You do, [00:50:00] um, no, I'm just kidding. Uh, he, we, we started, we started a game with him and he, and he was all, you know, Oh, I'm not really feeling this. [00:50:09] And I was like, I was playing a fighter and I was like, had a two, two minute weapon. I'm like walking around beating everybody's ass. And he's like, this is. Awesome. [00:50:18] Charlie: Well, I didn't really, I hadn't really played that much and I stole something I got put in jail. My character died. Remember what happened? I was like, I was sitting there for like 10 minutes and like, we've got to come find you. [00:50:29] I'm like, I [00:50:30] am dead. We, [00:50:31] Josh: we, we, we spent, we spent so long trying to find him that we finally found his corpse and he was like definitely dead as fuck. Like we could not resurrect him. Yeah, it was, it was, uh, Perfect. [00:50:42] Charlie: I was trying to play Necromancer to [00:50:43] Josh: try something else. Yeah. He just ran off on his own and accidentally pickpocketed from somebody. [00:50:49] Yeah. I didn't know what I was doing. Then he threw, and then he got thrown in jail and you try to break out. Yeah, yeah. I get it. I remember this fondly [00:50:55] Charlie: now. Yeah. So I was just like, it's just, it's, it's fine. But like, I just wasn't having a, I was like, [00:51:00] okay, I need to act. What it was is like, I was playing, I needed to understand the mechanics of the game before I played in a party because y'all, I wasn't listening to the story and whatnot. [00:51:10] So I was like, it didn't really understand. I didn't understand what was going on. Now I know what the story is and everything. It's like, it's more fun to play. Oh, I [00:51:15] Josh: got you. Yeah, we were, we were definitely just completely bypassing the story. [00:51:20] Charlie: Yeah. So if I can, now that I know the story, I want to beat it once, once I beat the story once and I can hop in for sure, because I like the fact that you can play with the team. [00:51:27] So maybe we can resurrect that game once I get a little further. [00:51:30] So, anyway. [00:51:32] Dom: Have you guys played, uh, Project Zomboid? [00:51:35] Charlie: I've played it on... They have it, they have it for... They have it on Steam. I put it on my Steam Deck. I couldn't get into that game. Yeah, [00:51:42] Dom: I wanted to really get into it because it looks fun, but it's like one of those games that it's almost like too complex. [00:51:46] Charlie: as shit. Like, you have to like, and I looked up in the community and read it, like, well you can do this, that, and this, and you have like mods you can do, and I'm just like... I don't want to do all that. I just want to try I just want to kill some zombies. Yeah. Just like, I want to give it a go. I don't want to, like, do a bunch of [00:52:00] shit. [00:52:00] Dom: It's like way too it's like way too it's like so fu cause I I I saw it online, and I was like, oh this looks like cute and fun, and I got it, and I was like, oh my god, I'm hungry, I'm thirsty, oh my god, my I cut my hand so I crawl through a window that's broken. Oh man. I suddenly My shoes are worn. So it's like all this shit. [00:52:16] I was like, what the fuck? Why is this? Why is there so much of this like hilarity involved? And just let me kill some zombies, dude. [00:52:23] Josh: Like [00:52:23] Charlie: catering to like the hardcore people [00:52:25] Josh: out [00:52:26] Dom: the gate. It's like they made a like funny, like eight bit [00:52:30] daisy. But like, if I wanted to play at Daisy, I would play Daisy. You know what I mean? [00:52:33] Like, it, it definitely, yeah. It was, uh, it was a, I got it even though I think it was like 10 bucks or something. I don't know. It's like technically the biggest [00:52:41] Charlie: field. Yeah. I, I picked it up when it was on sale for like Yeah. Next to nothing. It was like, yeah, sure. I'll, you know, indie game i's I'll support the developers. [00:52:47] Um, right. And I was just like, not for me. . [00:52:50] Josh: Yeah. What was that? What was that? [00:52:55] Charlie: Yeah.[00:53:00] [00:53:00] Dom: Where are you going today? What you got going on? You had to be so, you had to leave us. [00:53:03] Charlie: Uh, apple picking with the [00:53:04] Dom: Miaticos. Okay, that's perfect actually. I went apple picking two weeks ago. How? Dude, is [00:53:11] Josh: that not the most Connecticut fucking thing I've ever heard in my life? Isn't that like a thing for you guys? [00:53:16] It's just a Northeast thing. It's a Northeast thing. It's a Northeast thing. Okay. It's a very common thing. Sorry. Not a Connecticut thing. I didn't mean that in a condescending [00:53:22] Charlie: way. It's the same thing as like getting, you know, when you go to, when you're living in the Northeast and you go apple picking, it's the exact same thing as when you get off a plane, you're handed ecstasy and you'd be [00:53:30] like, let's go. [00:53:30] Josh: Oh, oh, okay. Okay. Now I'll go. Okay. Okay. Okay. Makes perfect sense. Okay. I got you. [00:53:36] Dom: I got you. We went a week or so ago. Florida man understands. 20 apples. Yeah. Where are you guys going? I don't know yet. [00:53:43] Charlie: Is it in Connecticut or is it? No, it's in, it's in New Jersey actually. [00:53:46] Dom: Oh yeah. I mean, that makes sense. Yeah. [00:53:48] We went to a place called Du Bois Farms, spelled Dubois. But of course they're like, no, it's Ddu. It's Du Bois . [00:53:56] Josh: It's like Du Bois. Yeah. It's [00:53:58] Dom: like a key farm. The apples were boys [00:54:00] tight, dude. Oh my God. Oh boys. We brought home like 20 apples in mal. I'm gonna make a pie with 'em. And I was like, no you're not. [00:54:05] Because I ate a pie. Ate all of them. , [00:54:09] Charlie: you boys. Duh boys. Maybe we'll go to that one. I don't know where we're actually going. Move on it either way. Uh, yeah, looking forward to that. Anyway, what's coming out that you guys are [00:54:18] Josh: looking forward to? Oh, I actually bought Detective Pikachu Returns. I haven't, I haven't had a chance to play it a game or are you talking about the... [00:54:24] Yes, it is a game. Oh, I thought it was like the movie. No, no, no, no, no. It is an actual [00:54:28] Dom: game. I love that [00:54:30] movie. Yeah, [00:54:30] Josh: the movie was great. Um, this, this was uh, cause Detective Pikachu was an actual game and then this is a... Follow up to that. And, um, I haven't played it yet because my friend, uh, Sierra, she wanted to play it with me and she couldn't come over on Friday night for whatever reason. [00:54:45] Or she got over late. I don't remember why, but, um, we haven't had a chance to get into it yet. So I will have something to report on that. Um, what's coming out soon though, is a really good question. I don't know. Oh, uh, Super Mario RPG [00:55:00] remake comes out on November 16th, which I am super duper excited about. [00:55:04] Um, [00:55:05] Dom: well, you know, it's funny. I. I'm, they keep saying it's gonna be in winter 2023, but there's been no fucking update since then, but the new, uh, Space, Space Marine 2 is supposed to come out anytime in the next two [00:55:17] Josh: months, but there's no [00:55:18] Charlie: release. That's, that's the one that was, that's like, um, uh, World War Z, right? [00:55:24] Yeah. Yeah, that's the one that you posted that looks actually kind of fun. It [00:55:27] Dom: looks awesome. I really want to play it, but there's like no... [00:55:30] There's no, like, anything in regards to, like, when it's coming [00:55:35] Josh: out. I really want to play Sea of Stars, personally. Like, Sea of Stars, for me, seems like right up my fucking alley. [00:55:42] No, it's not free. It's on the Switch. But, uh, and it might be on... It's free on [00:55:48] Charlie: playstation. I want to say it's free on playstation. It's free on playstation plus? Yeah, maybe. Which by the way, I don't know if anyone heard, not that this helps us, but they actually upgraded playstation plus where it includes movies now.[00:56:00] [00:56:00] Oh, interesting. If [00:56:01] Josh: you're into that. This is on steam. [00:56:04] Dom: What like, uh, like what movie platforms? Like what, yeah, like what studios or whatever. I don't [00:56:09] Charlie: know. I don't know. I don't know. I just saw it pop up in one of my emails. [00:56:13] Josh: It basically to me looks like a, I mean, Stan's already beaten it and he said it's, it's, uh, it reminds me of a couple of different games, but like when I was watching the trailer for it, it, uh, it definitely reminds me a lot of like how Chrono Trigger. [00:56:26] Played and how it just kind of strikes me as [00:56:30] like, yeah, it kind of strikes me as like a modernized version of how game Chrono Trigger would be played on a, on a modern console, um, turn based RPG style, but like, I'm just, I'm just saying like the movements, the mannerisms, even like the. I don't know. Just the overall design. [00:56:48] I don't know. It just really reminds me of it heavily. Um, but it looks like a very, it's a very old school classic looking RPG that has modernized graphics. They call it, what do they call it? It's like a, um, [00:57:00] 2d, 3d or something. I don't, I don't know what they call it. There's like a, there's like a [00:57:07] Yeah, there's like a term for the type of like modernized, it's like 2d modernized kind of gaming. But anyways, I, I love, I think the game looks phenomenal. It's gotten amazing reviews across the board. So if you're a big RPG fan, I would definitely look into trying it out. Um, that's high on my list. And then my super Mario RPG on November 16th and [00:57:30] trying to see what [00:57:30] Charlie: else another game that's coming out soon. [00:57:32] Like I think before the end of the year, I was like, fuck another one. Um, I can't remember which one. I don't know. If you can think about it, and you're watching this on YouTube, leave it in the comments below. And I will... Check it out. Lot of, a lot of games to play. Um, [00:57:54] Josh: you guys, I'm trying to see what else is coming out. Like, there's [00:58:00] just like a bunch of games, but like, not, this is what I'm talking about. Like, it, there's a lot of games coming out, but it's like, oh, [00:58:07] Charlie: endless dungeons the other one that I want [00:58:08] Josh: to try. Yeah. That I, I probably will try that out. I wanna [00:58:12] Charlie: tryon, um, 'cause I've, Stan's talked a lot about it and I wanna see it. [00:58:15] And also, I think, uh, Season 2 of Diablo 4 is coming out in like, 9 days? 17? So I actually, I might try it, but I got, I'm trying, well, the goal for me is I need to beat Assassin's Creed, and then I need to beat Baldur's Gate, and then I'll give it a go. [00:58:30] But the season, from what they, from what I've seen of people recapping of it, and what Stan talked about in the, um, in the chat, it seems cool, but... [00:58:42] I don't necessarily know if I need to play it, because I've already finished everything I can do in it. Unless they add more stuff to do at the end. Um, probably not super fun, but. [00:58:50] Josh: Yeah, Final Fantasy 7, uh, Rebirth comes out February 29th, huh, that I'll definitely be [00:59:00] buying. What game? Uh, Final Fantasy 7, the second half of the remake. [00:59:04] Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Rebirth. Yeah, [00:59:06] Charlie: for sure. February 29th. That'll [00:59:08] Dom: be a... Dungeon, what That was a pretty laser wave. Stan is always playing, like, every game that exists. Stan's, [00:59:16] Charlie: he's a full time streamer now, that's what he does. I get it. I mean, [00:59:20] Dom: fair enough. I, I don't know how it just keeps up. There's, it's like too much to keep up. [00:59:23] It's too, [00:59:23] Charlie: I mean, it's too, it's definitely too much to play. But yeah, I definitely want to try Endless Dungeon for sure. [00:59:29] Josh: [00:59:30] Yo, cool looking [00:59:30] Charlie: graphics. Yeah, it looks super rad. It's, and it's not that expensive too. It's like 40 bucks, I want to say. [00:59:37] Josh: I'm looking right now. Wait to Persona 5, Tactica, Turok 3, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. [00:59:46] Charlie: Oh, no, Call of Duty Mobile, Warfare Mobile is coming out on November 1st, I want to [00:59:52] Josh: say. Prince of Persia, Alone in the Dark, like these are the big name titles that are coming out like none of those games really [01:00:00] makes me feel like a, like I'm a bat, like a fake gamer or something because I just don't have any interest in any of these games are coming out. [01:00:07] Dom: No, it's just no, it's not. Listen, we're at the age now. I've been saying this for like 10 years, let alone at the age now, but like we're at the age where our time is limited and you only want to do things that you want to do, like for sure. And so, yeah, I, you know, I don't have really much time. No, you're just [01:00:25] Charlie: a fake gamer. [01:00:26] I'm just a fake [01:00:27] Josh: gamer. I'm just gonna, I'm gonna play my [01:00:30] Pokemons, my Pokemans. Do your Pokemans. I need a new Resident Evil game. Come on, guys. It's like all I, that's all I care about. Resident Evil, World of Warcraft. I'm almost done with World of Warcraft. I've got one phase left and then... I, um, I'm going to put it to rest. [01:00:46] Charlie: Almost done. Uh, [01:00:47] Josh: we've heard that before. I'm going to put it to rest. For real [01:00:51] Charlie: or for fakes? For [01:00:52] Josh: fakes. [01:00:54] Charlie: Yeah, we know. [01:00:56] Josh: Does a heroin addict ever really recover from heroin? [01:01:00] I'm kidding. I mean, yeah, when they completely cut it out and do the thing. Yeah, I know, I know, I know. I am told, I was, that was a very facetious statement. [01:01:06] It was not meant to have any seriousness behind it because I am well aware of my... Crack, crack addiction. Okay. I gotta go poop [01:01:17] Charlie: now. So I can buy everyone for coming out. Love you guys. Dom's got to go [01:01:21] Josh: do some things. If you're about my Pokemon adventures next time, we're going to do all that stuff. [01:01:25] Charlie: You can find us on Instagram at OG podcast or Twitter's over achievers.
