O hai... it's me, Your Old Pal Will. Welcome to another episode of Vinyl-O-Matic. In this episode, we will continue our journey through albums that begin with the letter C as in Charlie. I think we might have one more show before we move on to albums with titles that begin with the letter D as in Delta. Our last listener challenge was quite the hit with over 3 hours of songs that remind many folks of summer. You can find a link in this episode's show notes, located at vinylomatic(dot)com(slash)s05e17. This time around, our listener challenge is Top 3 Songs that Keep You Sane. Leave a comment in the show notes, or click the link there and add them to the Spotify playlist yourself! All right. On with the show, this is it! I'll talk to you right now and tell you what we just heard. That was The Tubes and the opening track from their 1981 album Completion Backwards Principal. We heard from Slow Club off of their excellent 2014 Wichita Records release Complete Surrender with a magnificent Motown-esque track called "Suffering You, Suffering Me". From a 1966 novelty sound effects record entitled Comic Book Heroes, we heard a theoretical band called The Capes & Masks with a bit entitled "The Wedding of Mr. Universe and Fantastic Gal". Starting the whole shebang off, we heard from Neil Young and Crazy Horse with "Lotta Love" from his 1978 album Comes a Time. Rumor has it that 200,000 copies of that album have been used as shingles for one of Neil's barns. Next up, we have Niki Danilova aka Zola Jesus. Welcome back to Vinyl-O-Matic. Up at the top of that set, we heard from Zola Jesus and a song called "Vessel" from her 2011 Sacred Bones Records release Conatus. We took a trip down to Monterrey County as Erroll Garner performed a mambo bop number called "Carmel Mambo" from the album Concert by the Sea. From a posthumous release entitled Confrontation, Bob Marley and the Wailers brought us "Buffalo Soldier". And we just heard New Order and their 12" Factory single from 1983 "Confusion". Now for yet another song that is appropriate for the times we are living in. Barump bump bump bump... hey, we just heard from Rene Amont and the Internationals with the Uruguayan classic "La Cumparsita" from an album entitled Continental Cocktails. I guess in this case, the continent would be South America. We heard from NYC heavy noise rockers Couch Slut with a number entitled "Penalty Scar" from their 2017 Gilead Media album Contempt. Getting that set going, we heard from Oakland's Kowloon Walled City and their song "Wrong Side of History" from the excellent 2012 release Container Ships. And now for something completely Prince. I don't think anybody is going to San Antone with shelter in place going on, but otherwise, I would totally give Charley Pride a lift. Before that, we heard from Josie Cotton with some new wave meets 60s girl group feels in a song called "He Could Be the One" from her 1982 album Convertible Music. Astute listeners will know that this is one of the 2 songs she performs in the 80s classic "Valley Girl". Prior to that, we heard his Purpleness with "Sexuality" from his 1981 Warner Brothers album Controversy. This concludes our programming for this episode.
