Hello and welcome to Season 4, Episode 51 of Vinyl-O-Matic. It's me, Your Old Pal Will. This time around we are continuing our journey through singles with a-sides that begin with the letter R as in Romeo. There should be a little something for everyone. Let us start off with Mr. Ernie K-Doe. Yes indeed, we just heard Half Japanese and their single "Refreshing" backed with "Do It Now". Jad Fair is in fine form on this 2014 Joyful Noise Recordings release that is split blue and orange. And we got things started off with the late great Ernie K-Doe and his single "Real Man" and the fun b-side "Te-Ta-Te-Ta-Ta". That is from 1961 on Minit Records. Next up, we have some smooth nostalgia from down under. Welcome back to Vinyl-O-Matic. If you cast your minds back to the top of the set, you will recall we heard from Little River Band and their 1978 Harvest Records smash hit "Reminiscing" along with the b-side "So Many Paths". So many in fact it seems like they could have found a different one for that track. This single was of course appropriated by Biz Markie in the next decade. We followed that up with a split from 2004 on Better Looking Records. The a-side was The Album Leaf with "Reso" and the b-side was Her Space Holiday performing "Callinblue". I picked this up at a San Francisco incarnation of Moog Fest back in the aughties. Before we continue with the jams, let me remind you that KWTF is an all-volunteer non-profit community radio station. Now more than ever, we could use your support. To find out more about how you can help, please point your browser in the direction of KWTF(dot)net(slash)donate. And now, a little "Reverence" please. Yeah, we could pretty much all use a "Sugar Daddy" like the one we just heard in Christine McVie's b-side. And of course, the a-side is about as witchy as your going to get with Stevie Nicks. At least as far as Fleetwood Mac singles go. That is on Reprise Records from 1976. Prior to that we heard Jesus + Mary Chain and their 1992 Blanco y Negro single "Reverence" and the flipside "Heat". Prime cuts from their Honey's Dead album. Next up we've got the single that put the glitter into the glam. Funk yeah. Don't worry about being right, just be real. That was Parliament with their 1975 mover "Ride On" backed with "Good Footin'" on Casablanca Records. Before that, we had Marc Bolan and the magickal number "Ride a White Swan" backed with "Is It Love" and the Eddie Cochrane classic "Summertime Blues". This 1970 Fly Records single paved the way for glam rockers everywhere. This concludes our journey for the time being.
