Daniel [GM] (00:30): Welcome to Explorers Wanted. We are a weekly Numenera Actual Play podcast. I will be your humble GM, Daniel Andrlik. With me today is Marietta Jones. Marietta [Atalia] (00:43): The Midwest is really hot and humid and I'm really ready for it to be fall. What it is right now obviously, it's fall. I love fall. It's so wonderful. I'm so happy to be here. Daniel [GM] (00:52): Sampson Davis. Sampson [Dili] (00:53): It's been a million years since we recorded. Do I play ChaCha, or do I play Nix? I can't remember. Daniel [GM] (00:59): Alex Finn. Alex [ChaCha] (01:00): Listen Marietta, the Midwest goes balls deep into summer. There's no turning back. Daniel [GM] (01:07): And Stace Babcock. Stace [Nix] (01:09): I quit. Marietta [Atalia] (01:23): Don't quit. We love you. Daniel [GM] (01:24): Okay. Let's see, who remembers what happened last time? I think I'm going tot pick on Stace. Stace [Nix] (01:31): Yeah, Okay. Last time and Explorers Wanted. Our crew is on this weird ship that is not designed to land, they don't know that yet. They get on the ship and as they are exploring around inside this ship, they found Stanis's crystals and all that stuff. But Nix sees her mom, just chilling in the corner and Nix was like, "oh mom, what the Fuck?" And then her mom vanishes, I'm way out of order and mixing up two episodes, I understand this, okay. Yeah Nix's mom vanishes, so Nix is like, "I'm going to figure out how to fly this shit." And start heading into the ship, towards the bridge and is only slowed by Atalia's incessant scamming. There was a room with blue walls, yeah. There was a room that had no gravity and there was some pretty cool acrobatic tricks. Now there's a room where, if you touch the thing in the middle it caused uncontrollable laughter and then also spit out atometon twins or atometwins of each member of the party. Stace [Nix] (02:39): Between that room and the next room was a yellow light cube in the stairway and guess who went through the light cube? Chacha, that's right. It was ChaCha. Marietta [Atalia] (02:49): Oh, I was going to guess Stanis. Stace [Nix] (02:52): And picked up a passenger, a mind sharer. ChaCha is now sharing her mind with this entity who knows a lot about the ship, which is cool. The crew finds the bridge, figure out how to point it in the direction of Charmonde and ChaCha just tried to push a lot of buttons. We didn't allow that. We got on our way, realized we didn't know how to...no we figured out how to stop it, but we didn't figure out how to land the vessel. And yeah, the general plan is to figure out how to land or whatever.and save Nix's parents but also the thing inside ChaCha's head had warned her that there's a containment breach, in the aft part of the ship. And that's where we ended. Daniel [GM] (03:42): Yeah. And specifically at the beginning with Nix's mom, she had said " Nix, they're at the door." And then vanished. Stace [Nix] (03:50): Is it capital D door or lower case d door? We don't know. Daniel [GM] (03:53): Well I don't know, she didn't annunciate clearly enough. Marietta [Atalia] (03:56): Here's a question, did the twin atometoms, are they still active or did they explode? Daniel [GM] (04:03): Well you, it takes you about an hour and a half to get to Charmonde, they probably stared breaking down about 30 minutes before you guys reached Charmonde. Up until then, you'll have these twin atometons mirroring all your actions. Alex [ChaCha] (04:16): I just have a horrible idea and I'm not sure if I want to do it. Daniel [GM] (04:20): It ended with ChaCha, that new voice in your head telling you. passenger (04:25): Well you guys are awfully high up and sure I'd love to help you. But I'd be more worried about that containment breach in the aft. Alex [ChaCha] (04:32): And which way is the aft, what's an aft? passenger (04:35): It's the back of the ship, if you think of it probably the opposite side of the ship that you're on right now. Alex [ChaCha] (04:43): Oh okay. And the ChaCha's going to turn to the rest of the crew and kind of go, " um, there's somebody in the butt of the ship, we need to go clear out the butt." Stace [Nix] (04:54): What? Marietta [Atalia] (04:54): What? Alex [ChaCha] (04:56): There has been a breach in the ass of the ship. Stace [Nix] (05:00): Yeah. Sampson [Dili] (05:02): How do you know, what do you mean there's a breach? Alex [ChaCha] (05:05): The voice in my head told me. Sampson [Dili] (05:08): Oh. One of those [inaudible 00:05:10] ? Alex [ChaCha] (05:11): No this on is new. Stace [Nix] (05:12): Oh yeah. Sampson [Dili] (05:14): Like recent? Alex [ChaCha] (05:16): Yeah. It was the yellow cube thing. It's in my brain now. Stace [Nix] (05:23): Oh yeah. In a good way? Does it know how to land the ship. Alex [ChaCha] (05:27): It did tell us about the breach Stace [Nix] (05:30): Well should we go confirm the breach? Also does it know how to land the ship? Alex [ChaCha] (05:34): It said the breach is the most important thing. Stace [Nix] (05:38): Okay. Dili you're good at fixing things right? Sampson [Dili] (05:41): I guess. I can do what I can, I need to see the breach though. It's not like I can just materialize material. Stace [Nix] (05:49): Let's go see if the voice inside ChaCha's head is telling the truth. Sampson [Dili] (05:52): Yeah okay. It's in the aft, so bact in the cargo hold, ChaCha? Alex [ChaCha] (05:57): I don't know it's the butt of the ship. Wherever you keep the butt, we're in the head. Sampson [Dili] (06:03): Yeah okay. Let's go check out this breach. Stace [Nix] (06:08): Do you want to go check out the breach? I'm not so worried about the breach, I know you could fix it Dili, but I'm more worried about what was inside the breach. What's being contained. Marietta [Atalia] (06:20): Yeah, I mean did something break in or break out? Sampson [Dili] (06:25): I don't know a whole lot about ships but I feel like a hole in the ship may keep us from getting to Charmonde, so we should definitely go check this out. Right? What if the ship is leaking fuel? Stace [Nix] (06:37): Yeah I'm just saying do you want me to go with you? Sampson [Dili] (06:39): Oh yes, I'm not going alone. Stace [Nix] (06:41): I mean is it on autopilot, are we okay could we all leave? I mean aside from the breach will it continue? Daniel [GM] (06:49): Well what you guys figured out before, you were able to plot a course to Charmonde and Nix was able to figure to how to tell it to stop in the air once it got to Charmonde, but there is as far as you guys are aware no way to land it. It's either somehow jumping from it with everything you need to bring or deliberately crashing it. Stace [Nix] (07:11): Which I could totally do guys. Yeah, let's go. Sampson [Dili] (07:15): ChaCha, so now how recent does your new voice say the breach is? Alex [ChaCha] (07:22): I think ChaCha is going to...she'll look up and kind of think that really hard...when was the butt breach. passenger (07:30): I have no idea but it's blinking on that console that alert clear as day. Alex [ChaCha] (07:36): Oh, you know the ship? passenger (07:38): It's been blinking since we got in here. Alex [ChaCha] (07:41): Once we fix the butt breach, you'll help us land the ship. passenger (07:45): Oh this ship doesn't land. It was never meant to land. It was launched and it was meant to stay in perpetual motion. It's actually a rather clever hack that your friend figured out how to stop it. Alex [ChaCha] (07:55): Do we just crash it into the castle or do we, is there a way to lower people down? passenger (08:06): Maybe. I don't think you can, it doesn't have anything builtin to do that. I'm sure you and I, in the beginning of our new friendship could figure out a way to make it work. Alex [ChaCha] (08:21): Deal. passenger (08:22): But in the mean time you probably want to deal with whatever that breach is, because it's going to complicate anything you're going to try to do with this ship. Whether it's crashing, landing or in fact for all we know surviving the next 30 minutes before we reach Charmonde. Sampson [Dili] (08:42): It's already been 30 minutes? Daniel [GM] (08:44): Yeah it will probably take you an hour and a half to get to Charmonde, but probably that first hour is pretty involved in getting everything setup. Sampson [Dili] (08:54): Oh, okay. Alex [ChaCha] (08:56): ChaCha nods her head at the party and just says, "okay, one there is no way to land, only crash, but maybe after we fix the breach, which will kill us in the next 30 minutes, f we don't fix it. My new friend and I can make something probably with Dili to help us get out of this ship safely." Stace [Nix] (09:24): Okay. Sampson [Dili] (09:24): All right. Stace [Nix] (09:25): Should we go? Daniel [GM] (09:26): The voice in your head ChaCha says... passenger (09:28): Close enough. Alex [ChaCha] (09:30): Okay. To the Butt, and she raises her hand in a fist in the air like " yes!" Stace [Nix] (09:36): Does the voice in your head know how to get to the butt? Alex [ChaCha] (09:39): It's on the console right there. It was blinking. Stace [Nix] (09:43): Oh, okay. Nix would like to see if she can determine from the console the best route to get to the containment breach. Daniel [GM] (09:52): Okay, that will be understanding Numenera roll. Stace [Nix] (09:56): What? Okay. Marietta [Atalia] (09:58): My sister... Alex [ChaCha] (09:59): ChaCha would like to help. Daniel [GM] (10:01): It's an understanding Numenera roll of 12. Nix you have an inability. Stace [Nix] (10:06): But ChaCha helps. Daniel [GM] (10:08): Yes ChaCha and Atalia can help, so that would bring it back down to a nine with those two assets. Stace [Nix] (10:16): You know that Nix just sometimes knows what's up with Numenera? Daniel [GM] (10:19): Hmm-um (affirmative). Stace [Nix] (10:19): Oh, that's two. Daniel [GM] (10:23): Which is a GM intrusion for you. Stace [Nix] (10:25): It is. Daniel [GM] (10:26): Nix you think you have found a shortcut. Stace [Nix] (10:28): Oh no. Sampson [Dili] (10:28): Shit. Daniel [GM] (10:30): It's a little bit irregular in the way it approaches it but, and it does involve crawling through some of the ventilation ducts, but you think you could bypass a lot of delays with some of the usual security lock downs that a ship like this would have. You're pretty sure that some of these indications are security bulkheads or possibly, other kinds of dangerous situations. But you think if you follow this particular set of duct work from the previous room that you came from, that you can get to the aft pretty quickly without having to deal with some...any kind of strange Numenera challenges from prior worlds. Stace [Nix] (11:17): Hey guys I found a shortcut. Marietta [Atalia] (11:19): Oh yeah. Alex [ChaCha] (11:20): Oh. Sampson [Dili] (11:21): Right, let's try it. Stace [Nix] (11:22): Yeah can Seskii fit? Daniel [GM] (11:23): Each of you could fit. It is once again going to be a single file type situation. Alex [ChaCha] (11:28): Should Dili go through that shortcut? He got stuck in the tunnel. Stace [Nix] (11:31): Yeah I think if we go through these vents and then we also, see here Atalia, go around that, and over here, then we don't have to worry about finding anything that you're going to want to scan, you know what I mean? Really speed things up. Marietta [Atalia] (11:46): Does that seem accurate to me, once you showing this to me, does this seem true? Daniel [GM] (11:53): It seems, you're welcome to try to do your own thing but Nix is going to make a compelling case for why she thinks it's a good shortcut. Alex [ChaCha] (12:01): ChaCha's going to tell this plan to her head voice. Daniel [GM] (12:06): Okay, whatever works for you guys. Marietta [Atalia] (12:09): Well as long as Seskii can fit. Stace [Nix] (12:11): Cool. I'll lead the way. Daniel [GM] (12:15): You go back to the previous room and you see this strange grate that appears to be one of these ventilation shafts. It is interesting, in that humans typically, for simplicity, when we build ventilation grates, we typically either make them rectangular squarish, or in some cases if they're getting fancy with it circular. This one appears to be an eight pointed polygon. But it's there. It does look like it is relatively well sealed but you guys could try to figure out how you want to get through it. It depends on if you want to try to figure out how to remove it naturally, if you want brut force it or what you want to do to get through this cover. Stace [Nix] (13:08): Could Dili use his right abilities and be our tool [inaudible 00:13:16]? Sampson [Dili] (13:16): Dismantle, can Dili try to dismantle this? Stace [Nix] (13:18): Yes. Yes that's the word. Daniel [GM] (13:21): Sure, with his specialty screwdriver. It uses sound waves. Sampson [Dili] (13:29): No it's an eight pointed star one that you can barely find. Daniel [GM] (13:33): Right. I was going for sonic screwdriver but okay. Sampson [Dili] (13:37): No I got you. Daniel [GM] (13:39): Okay, thank you. Thank you for validating me. Dili I guess this would be, I think this would kind of fall line with the crafting Numenera role because you're not salvaging it, you're just trying to open it. I could say crafting Numenera would give you an edge on this. Sampson [Dili] (13:52): Okay. Daniel [GM] (13:54): For you it's going to be a nine including your crafting Numenera really. Sampson [Dili] (13:59): With the tools [inaudible 00:14:01] six? Daniel [GM] (14:02): It would. Sampson [Dili] (14:03): Well now lets put a little effort into the play of the intellect. Alex [ChaCha] (14:06): Oh can we help? Daniel [GM] (14:07): Yeah he could have somebody help. Alex [ChaCha] (14:09): ChaCha will hold a light over him, so he could see what he is doing. Who offers assistance? Daniel [GM] (14:17): That brings it down to a three. Sampson [Dili] (14:19): And with the level of effort that's a [inaudible 00:14:20], I'll do it. Pop it on. Daniel [GM] (14:21): Okay, you manage to detach this quite easily, in fact you think you could replace it. Pretty easily when the time comes, when you're no longer needing it. Dili I think because you've done this, I think if you run into this same grate again you'll probably have it asset to doing the same thing with it. Sampson [Dili] (14:42): Let's hope this is standard, throughout the ship. Back to you Nix. Stace [Nix] (14:46): All right. Is it difficult for Nix to clamber up there or? Daniel [GM] (14:48): No Nix you get in there no problem. Anybody can get in there. It is uncomfortable, it is rather tight spaced, it is an odd angle because of the sort of polygonal structure. You have these eight grooves essentially evenly spaced around you as you're crawling through it, but it is also, it is very much a...it's true for everybody to so degree but I guess particularity for Dili, it is very much like a quinch in, kind of elbow your way down the path. It's not easy going, probably easy for Nix, Atalia probably as well, ChaCha maybe. Alex [ChaCha] (15:31): ChaCha's good at climbing. Marietta [Atalia] (15:31): You sure this is faster than walking? Stace [Nix] (15:33): Yeah, you'll see. I got it all mapped out. Daniel [GM] (15:36): Nix you are following the map that you kind of figured out. You know you need to go right at the first junction, left at the next junction which isn't that far away and then you go a little further and there is something about a Z junction that looked relatively simple, and as you make your way to it you see the shaft kind of turns to a direct path down. A right angle from where you guys are. Stace [Nix] (16:07): Mario could do it. Sampson [Dili] (16:10): Who's Mario? Marietta [Atalia] (16:14): What are we doing? We're going down this? Stace [Nix] (16:16): Oh yeah. Daniel [GM] (16:17): Probably none of the rest of you can see it yet because Nix is in front of you, blocking the view. Stace [Nix] (16:21): Nix is just going to start bracing herself down it. Daniel [GM] (16:24): Okay. This will be climbing roll then, to try go down this without just sliding down it. Stace [Nix] (16:31): Okay. Daniel [GM] (16:31): Sliding down it to brace yourself. The climbing roll would be 12. But I think Nix, do you have training in climbing? Stace [Nix] (16:39): Oh damn, yeah I do. Daniel [GM] (16:41): Okay. It's a nine for you to start. Stace [Nix] (16:44): Spend it, two levels of my effort. Daniel [GM] (16:46): Okay. It's a three. Stace [Nix] (16:48): Threw as five. Daniel [GM] (16:49): Okay. You manage to control your descent and make your way down this, which is good because there's really not enough room to turn around. You're basically going head first down this shaft. Who would be next right behind Nix? Marietta [Atalia] (17:02): I guess I would be with Seskii Daniel [GM] (17:05): Okay. It is a 12 climbing roll, to go down this vertical shaft. Marietta [Atalia] (17:11): All right and I'm trained in climbing. Daniel [GM] (17:13): It's a nine. Marietta [Atalia] (17:14): Man I do not have much left in my pools, it's all I can do. Will Seskii be okay getting down this? Daniel [GM] (17:20): I don't know, we'll find out. Marietta [Atalia] (17:22): Seskii, is it an endless shaft down? Daniel [GM] (17:26): You can't see where it ends. In fact, you've lost track of where Nix is. Marietta [Atalia] (17:29): I can see in the dark. Is it just angle? Daniel [GM] (17:32): Oh you can. Yeah you can see Nix down there. Marietta [Atalia] (17:35): Does it seem like there's a bottom? Daniel [GM] (17:37): There is definitely a bottom that Nix has reached and she's starting to kind of squiggle forward into it. But it does honestly look like a 40 foot drop. Marietta [Atalia] (17:45): Oh shit. Daniel [GM] (17:50): Nix didn't know that when she started climbing down there but... Marietta [Atalia] (17:56): My dudes this is like a 40 foot down the shaft kind of situation. Stace [Nix] (18:01): It's fine. Marietta [Atalia] (18:02): Is it fine? Stace [Nix] (18:03): Yeah, get it down here, it's good. Marietta [Atalia] (18:05): Is it fine Dili? Sampson [Dili] (18:07): What? Daniel [GM] (18:11): Also, since this is dark, apparently. Dili will pull out a glo globe. Marietta [Atalia] (18:17): Well... Daniel [GM] (18:18): How many glo globes have you got left Dili? Sampson [Dili] (18:20): I think I have all of them. I didn't throw mine into the river. Marietta [Atalia] (18:23): This is a glo globe tracking sin okay. Daniel [GM] (18:26): Okay. Marietta [Atalia] (18:29): Surprise. Sampson [Dili] (18:30): I track my darts. Marietta [Atalia] (18:31): Welcome to Explorers Wanted. Alex [ChaCha] (18:33): Wait we have a limited amount of darts? Marietta [Atalia] (18:35): Apparently we have a limited number of glo globes too, who knew? Two each for the glo globes, 12 starting projectiles free range weapon. Stace [Nix] (18:43): Oh I'm glad one of us knows. Alex [ChaCha] (18:46): Listen ChaCha has drugs. Marietta [Atalia] (18:48): Yeah, it's 40 feet down I guess I will try to do this, cool, it's a 13. Daniel [GM] (18:54): Okay. Atalia you manage to make your way down, once again you have to go head first because there's not enough room to turn around. Marietta [Atalia] (19:01): Seskii be so careful. Daniel [GM] (19:03): You manage to control your descent and you have to be careful but at the same time, in some ways I would think that this is probably... I don't know, how would Atalia feel about this? Because this kind of climbing and death defying stuff, even if it's not what you planned on. This is kind of what Atalia's business is. Marietta [Atalia] (19:24): Yeah this is kind of her thing. I would say that Marietta would be horrified but Atalia is probably more concerned about Dili and Seskii getting down than she is about herself. I think she gets down and maybe she's annoyed about it, so it's not as quick as she would usually be or something. Daniel [GM] (19:43): Okay. You get down just fine, as you're reaching the bottom you can hear a scraping sound that claws against metal, as Seskii kind of slides down using her claws to slow her fall. Marietta [Atalia] (19:56): Okay. Daniel [GM] (19:57): But she reaches the bottom no problem and you hear this. Seskii (20:00): Woof Marietta [Atalia] (20:00): Oh what a good Seskii. Daniel [GM] (20:03): Yeah and she kind of nuzzles her nose against your foot. Marietta [Atalia] (20:06): Oh man. Sorry you had to do that. Daniel [GM] (20:10): Who would be next? Would it be Dili or ChaCha in the order that you're crawling through this tunnel? Alex [ChaCha] (20:16): Probably ChaCha. Daniel [GM] (20:17): Okay. Alex [ChaCha] (20:17): Unless Dili you think you would go next. Sampson [Dili] (20:20): You don't want a quick escape? That's fine. Daniel [GM] (20:23): Okay. Alex [ChaCha] (20:23): I think ChaCha is going to remember how to Dili got stuck last time, is going to go before. Sampson [Dili] (20:28): I didn't get stuck. How dare. Daniel [GM] (20:33): ChaCha is going to be, since you are trained in climbing, it's a nine. Alex [ChaCha] (20:36): Okay, and what would it be to attach a rope to make Dili's descentt easier? Because ChaCha did take that rope and crampon or whatever it's called, when we were in the caves. Daniel [GM] (20:50): Securing it against the metal in a way that's going to work is probably going to be some sort of might based roll. In order to embed it into the metal somehow. Because there's nothing to really tie it to, is the problem. You're going to have to somehow make something to tie it to, drive a spike into the wall or something like that. Alex [ChaCha] (21:12): Not even where the vent that we are coming out off, where the weird screws would have gone in. Daniel [GM] (21:20): You're too far into the tunnels for that to stretch because your rope is only 50 feet. And this drop is 40 feet. Alex [ChaCha] (21:27): Okay, lets try it. Daniel [GM] (21:28): And unfortunately ChaCha doesn't have spikes or anything like that, because she doesn't have an Explorers pack, she only has drugs. Alex [ChaCha] (21:34): Yes. Only drugs. ChaCha brings only the essentials. I've been racking my mind for a week and how are we using these drugs. Sampson [Dili] (21:45): Oh I've got ideas, but we'll see. Stace [Nix] (21:49): Recreationally? Alex [ChaCha] (21:51): Okay. Stace [Nix] (21:52): Sorry. Alex [ChaCha] (21:53): What's the skill? It's might base, what the difficulty? Daniel [GM] (21:59): I would say, to try to...well you don't have any spikes or anything like that. What are you going to use to drive, to try to secure this against this metal? Alex [ChaCha] (22:07): Laser gun? Just to make a hole, to tie the rope through. Daniel [GM] (22:12): Okay. To try to do that it's going to be, it's probably easy to make that fire. I don't think you need to roll for it. At this point I will offer ChaCha an XP. Alex [ChaCha] (22:23): Yes. Stace [Nix] (22:24): You fool. Daniel [GM] (22:26): Who will you give the other XP to? Alex [ChaCha] (22:30): Dili because I'm probably going to end up shoot at his eyes, so it's cool. Sampson [Dili] (22:32): Blasts ricochet around the vents. Alex [ChaCha] (22:34): Yeah. Daniel [GM] (22:35): You fire the laser beam at this vent and it immoderately reflects off the surface and begins bouncing around. There's really no way for you guys to dodge this so I would like both you and Dili to make a might defense roll. Dili it will be a 15 for you but ChaCha, since you are a right at the heart of it and because this is from intrusion, it starts off at a 21 for you. Alex [ChaCha] (23:05): Oh snap. Whoop si. Sampson [Dili] (23:08): I'm going to put a level of effort into mine, bring that down to a 12 and roll a 17. Daniel [GM] (23:14): Nice. Alex [ChaCha] (23:17): Nice. I think I'm going to definitely have to use some effort into this in case, because why not. I'm going to go with two levels of effort just because... Daniel [GM] (23:32): Okay. Alex [ChaCha] (23:33): ...ChaCha might need her eyes in the future. Daniel [GM] (23:35): Okay this is going to bring it down to a 15. Dili you will only take one might damage as this ricochets around. Sampson [Dili] (23:41): Hurray. Alex [ChaCha] (23:43): Okay. We are trying for a 15. 19 suck it. Daniel [GM] (23:50): Okay. You will only take one might damage. What would you like as a minor effect, or what would you propose as a minor effect? Alex [ChaCha] (23:58): That we actually get the hole. Daniel [GM] (24:01): Okay, yeah that's fair. There's enough of a scotched surface that you could theoretically try to attach the rope to it. You're very aware that this is not particularly secure it's probably dangerous, but you can secure a rope to it. Alex [ChaCha] (24:17): Okay. That's what ChaCha is going to do and she is going to do her little Dracula bit out of the vent. Daniel [GM] (24:26): Okay, is she going to use the rope or not use the rope? Alex [ChaCha] (24:29): If she's aware that it's dangerous I think she's going to save the rope as an asset for Dili and not potentially break it off, using it for herself. Because she's already trained in climbing and she already draculared down one cliff face. Daniel [GM] (24:47): Okay. It will be a nine then for ChaCha, including her training in climbing to go down. Alex [ChaCha] (24:50): Okay. 13. Daniel [GM] (24:53): Okay. ChaCha yo manage to make your way down the vent. Dili. Sampson [Dili] (24:58): What the hell is that ChaCha? Alex [ChaCha] (24:58): Making a hole. Sampson [Dili] (25:01): All right. Stace [Nix] (25:02): You guys okay? Daniel [GM] (25:03): To Dili it is a 12 to start. You can use the rope which will give you an asset, bring it down to a nine. Sampson [Dili] (25:11): Can Dili reach his bag in the tunnel? Daniel [GM] (25:14): Yeah. Sampson [Dili] (25:16): All right. Dili is going to pull out some crafting tools and see if he can kind of secure the hole, widen it makes sure it kind of goes all the way through. And make sure it will hold. Daniel [GM] (25:26): Are you trying to just work with the materials that are there or are you willing to spend a synth? Sampson [Dili] (25:31): I'll spend a synth. Daniel [GM] (25:32): Okay. If you are spending a synth with your training and your tools, that will bring you down to a six. Sampson [Dili] (25:40): All right. Take my chances with that. 14. Alex [ChaCha] (25:44): Yeah. Daniel [GM] (25:46): It is pretty secure, you're pretty sure that this is going to be able to hold people and on the flip side it also means that it probably needs somebody with your skill level to unhitch it without snapping the rope later. But it is pretty damn secure here. There's a solid asset for you to go down here. It's a nine with no other risk. Alex [ChaCha] (26:10): Could we go back up this rope though? Daniel [GM] (26:12): Dili's secured it very well. You guys could climb back this rope if you needed to. Alex [ChaCha] (26:17): That was also part of my idea. Marietta [Atalia] (26:21): [inaudible 00:26:21] get back in these vents? Daniel [GM] (26:22): No it's very good that Dili did this because otherwise this rope, this secure point was going to be gone as soon as he went down. Marietta [Atalia] (26:28): That's also... Sampson [Dili] (26:29): I'll see if my shoulders could hold up and Dili will start climbing head down, head first down the thing. Daniel [GM] (26:36): Okay. It's a nine. Sampson [Dili] (26:37): All right. Daniel [GM] (26:38): And if you want to spend effort. Sampson [Dili] (26:40): I really shouldn't just because that would bring me down to one might. So I'll just roll it. Daniel [GM] (26:47): I'm sure it's fine. I'm sure there's going to be nothing else wrong with Nix's shortcut. Stace [Nix] (26:50): Noting at all. Sampson [Dili] (26:52): I got an 11. Daniel [GM] (26:53): Okay. You get down the shaft just fine and you guys are all on this new part of the vents. Nix from what you remember, this part should go straight for about another 60 feet before you've reached the next junction and then you'll need to go left. Stace [Nix] (27:10): All right. Onward. Is Nix slithering? She's just scrunching and the stretching? Daniel [GM] (27:16): Yeah we could say that. She's definitely doing some sinuous things with her spine, to kind of propel herself along. Everybody is like, "does anybody else hear rattling?" And it's really just Nix's hair rattling [inaudible 00:27:32]. Stace [Nix] (27:31): Nice. Daniel [GM] (27:31): Nix you are following this path and Nix it's getting warmer. Stace [Nix] (27:40): How much warmer? Daniel [GM] (27:42): Right now not that bad, but definitely distinctly warmer. It's gone up probably about five degrees. Stace [Nix] (27:49): All right. Is there any apparent source for the heat at this point or? Daniel [GM] (27:54): Not that you can see. Stace [Nix] (27:55): Okay. Cool. Daniel [GM] (27:57): You reach the next junction and you know from here you need to go right. Stace [Nix] (28:01): Thought you had said left. Daniel [GM] (28:02): You did go left already. I assumed that you already made that turn. Stace [Nix] (28:05): Okay. Cool. Yeah. To the right. Daniel [GM] (28:08): I'm fast forwarding through some stuff. Stace [Nix] (28:09): That's fair. Daniel [GM] (28:10): The rest of you notice that it's getting warmer too. Nix you make that junction at the right and from here you the tunnel kind of shifts shapes and starts smoothing out into a circle. Stace [Nix] (28:23): It's a little easier guys. Sampson [Dili] (28:24): I don't believe you. Stace [Nix] (28:27): Hang in there Dili, this is good for you. Sampson [Dili] (28:29): This sucks. Daniel [GM] (28:31): Okay, as you go Nix you're feeling actually more comfortable than you were. This is pretty good. Stace [Nix] (28:34): Okay. Daniel [GM] (28:35): This is a very comfortable temperature for you. And it's getting more comfortable the further you go. Stace [Nix] (28:41): Okay. Nix keeps going. I'm assuming the other... Alex [ChaCha] (28:48): No, I'm like where is the boiler way. Stace [Nix] (28:51): ...everyone else has noticed that it's getting warm but... Daniel [GM] (28:53): Oh sure they have. And for the rest of you, it's been warmer. Assuming you guys are all going down this circular path. The rest of you are definitely sweating. It's starting to get, it's not to the point where it's uncomfortable but it's sort of that moment where you're like, this isn't a sauna, but it seems to be getting close to that. Alex [ChaCha] (29:18): If it's gotten that warm. ChaCha is going to kind of check in with the voice in her head and be like, "this path wasn't going to anything on fire, was it?" passenger (29:30): Oh I don't know the whole layout of the ship, I would have never gone this way normally. Seems like, seems a little bit dramatic. Almost unnecessarily cenomatic. This is odd. You guys have kind of gone from the normal ventilation shaft and now you're crawling through the heat exhaust shafts for the ships systems. Alex [ChaCha] (29:56): I think ChaCha is going to kind of play telephone with Atalia and be like, you should tell Nix we're going through the heat exhaust system for the ship. Daniel [GM] (30:10): Seskii kind of looks over her shoulder at you, goes "wulf." Marietta [Atalia] (30:13): Yeah I know, man I totally feel that Seskii. Hey Nix, Nix this is the heat exhaust. Stace [Nix] (30:20): Oh is that why it feels so good in here? Marietta [Atalia] (30:23): Yeah it's like a sauna in here. Stace [Nix] (30:26): I don't think it's that warm. I mean it feels nice. Marietta [Atalia] (30:29): That's great for you but that's not the case for the rest of us. Stace [Nix] (30:35): Well what do you want to do? This is the fastest way Atalia. It's going to be fine. Marietta [Atalia] (30:40): Okay, well how much further is it, because I'm not letting Seskii bake alive in here? Stace [Nix] (30:44): This is why you got to hydrate. Hydrate or die Atalia. Marietta [Atalia] (30:48): Are we almost through? Stace [Nix] (30:50): Hydrating, never. Marietta [Atalia] (30:51): The tunnel. Stace [Nix] (30:52): Oh. Marietta [Atalia] (30:53): Are we almost to the end here, my dude? Stop enjoying the climate so much. Stace [Nix] (30:59): 300 meters more. Marietta [Atalia] (31:01): Is it all in the heat exhaust? Sampson [Dili] (31:03): 300 meters, shit. Stace [Nix] (31:05): Oh yeah, it's pretty close. Marietta [Atalia] (31:07): If Seskii gets hurt I will not be happy. Stace [Nix] (31:10): I would never do anything to intentionally hurt Seskii dude. Seskii (31:14): Woof. Marietta [Atalia] (31:14): Right, let's keep going then. Stace [Nix] (31:17): All right. Nix keeps going. Daniel [GM] (31:21): Okay Nix, this part is mostly a straight shot for a while. You guys crawl the next 100 meters in this increasing temperature, and up ahead in the darkness you can see something that looks like some sort of light. Stace [Nix] (31:38): Hey I see a light. Marietta [Atalia] (31:39): You want to go check it out and see if it's the exit? Stace [Nix] (31:42): Yeah see if you can keep up Atalia. Daniel [GM] (31:49): In the back you say "oh my gosh." Marietta [Atalia] (31:50): Atalia is going to let Nix go ahead and wait a second, and is this hit temperature causing Atalia damage at this point? Or is it still increasing? Daniel [GM] (32:01): It's super uncomfortable because you're dressed for... Marietta [Atalia] (32:06): Spooky spy things. Daniel [GM] (32:07): ...not this weather. Marietta [Atalia] (32:07): Yeah. Daniel [GM] (32:08): Yeah. You are sweating profusely. Sweat is dripping from your face and onto the metal below you. Marietta [Atalia] (32:16): Okay. I am going to wait though and make sure that she can get through to the next part before I try to follow her because... Daniel [GM] (32:22): Okay. Marietta [Atalia] (32:23): ...clearly one of us is doing better here than the rest. Daniel [GM] (32:27): Nix you get a bit, you get a little bit further and then you see where the light is coming from. The heat is definitely increasing and what you're seeing is about 50 meters ahead, the metal surface of this vent is glowing a dull red. Apparently from the heat. Marietta [Atalia] (32:46): Oh no. Stace [Nix] (32:46): Oh no guys. I've seen this before, bad news. It looks like the vent up there might be red hot. Alex [ChaCha] (32:54): Test it with the back of your hand, not the front. Stace [Nix] (32:58): Cool. Daniel [GM] (33:00): And Nix it has now gotten to the level of hotness where it is starting to become uncomfortable for you. Stace [Nix] (33:05): Oh Atalia I see what you mean, it is a little hot in here. Marietta [Atalia] (33:08): Are there any other exits? Daniel [GM] (33:11): Meanwhile, Dili is in the back, just panting because as we have established Dili doesn't sweat. He pants. Marietta [Atalia] (33:19): Oh my God. Sampson [Dili] (33:19): How did we establish that? [crosstalk 00:33:19] Daniel [GM] (33:20): Because of his antiperspirant crystal. Sampson [Dili] (33:22): Oh that's right. Marietta [Atalia] (33:23): I can't physically sweat, I just keep getting hotter, and hotter. Stace [Nix] (33:29): All right we are going to have to back it up to the junction and take a different route around. Wow that was represented on the ships schematics. I got to say, what a disappointment. Marietta [Atalia] (33:40): Yeah there another exit, can we get out here and keep walking or something? Sampson [Dili] (33:46): Did we pass the panel on these long climbs? Daniel [GM] (33:52): You have not yet. I think at this point I'm going to offer Dili and an XP. Sampson [Dili] (33:55): I will take it. Daniel [GM] (33:56): Who will you give the other XP to? Sampson [Dili] (33:58): I'll give it to Seskii. Daniel [GM] (34:01): Seskii can't spend it, but. Sampson [Dili] (34:03): All right. Daniel [GM] (34:04): Or if she is Seskii is going to spend it on some sort of short term benefit, on how to get the best... Marietta [Atalia] (34:10): Oh no. Daniel [GM] (34:10): ... Seskii food. Marietta [Atalia] (34:11): Belly rubs and whatnot. Stace [Nix] (34:12): You don't want to level up Seskii? She could tear up too, as we tear up. Marietta [Atalia] (34:17): Is Seskii level one follower? Daniel [GM] (34:19): No comment. Marietta [Atalia] (34:20): I actually don't know what Seskii stats are at all. Sampson [Dili] (34:23): Dili does. Can I play Seskii? Marietta [Atalia] (34:25): I have not rolled for her or anything. Alex [ChaCha] (34:28): What has Seskii given Atalia a benefit of? Daniel [GM] (34:32): Seskii does give some benefit it makes sense for Seskii to give it to her. Marietta [Atalia] (34:35): Just trying to figure out her modifications Daniel. Daniel [GM] (34:39): I'm going to give the XP to Stace so that when she rolls a one or two she can re roll. Stace [Nix] (34:48): Okay. One marked for re roll, you got it. Daniel [GM] (34:51): Dili, you hear something that seems relatively universal in the sense that it sounds like some sort of distant alarm clacks on and you hear something slamming shut behind you. Sampson [Dili] (35:09): Oh shit, guys something happened. There's an alarm and I think something, I think our way back just closed. Marietta [Atalia] (35:18): Okay, well lets go check that out. Right now since I'm sweating a lot. Sampson [Dili] (35:25): There isn't a way up there, does it branch or is it just the one path? Stace [Nix] (35:29): Let's turn around and find out. Daniel [GM] (35:31): There were a couple different junctions that you guys made turns at. For your information Stace, Seskii is level two. Stace [Nix] (35:39): Are you going to tell me what the modifications are? Daniel [GM] (35:42): No, because that is something that doesn't have to do with Seskii, it has to do with Seskii specifically and her relationship with Atalia. Stace [Nix] (35:49): I know. Alex [ChaCha] (35:49): Their [inaudible 00:35:51] acidic relationship. Daniel [GM] (35:53): It in fact only exist because of the card that was drawn during Atalia's sessions era. Stace [Nix] (35:59): Oh wow. Sampson [Dili] (36:01): Shit. Daniel [GM] (36:01): Seskii was inserted into the campaign based off of that card draw. Marietta [Atalia] (36:07): And that's how you get an animal companion. Daniel [GM] (36:09): Dili is going to start trying to shuffle backwards. Sampson [Dili] (36:12): Okay. Daniel [GM] (36:13): Dili you shuffle backwards as fast as you can and again this was kind of a straight shot. You reach sort of that last junction that you're at and your feet encounter some sort of vent that's been closed and blocking your way out. Sampson [Dili] (36:31): Oh shit. Did Dili come this way alone or did everyone else follow? Daniel [GM] (36:36): Depends, I don't know if everybody else followed you backwards. Marietta [Atalia] (36:38): I would have tried to but ChaCha is between me and so is Seskii. Daniel [GM] (36:43): Yeah. It depends if ChaCha followed you back. Or if ChaCha just kind of hung out. Alex [ChaCha] (36:48): Can ChaCha try and actually physically turn round? Daniel [GM] (36:53): There's not enough room to turn around. Alex [ChaCha] (36:55): Even for ChaCha? Daniel [GM] (36:57): Okay, if ChaCha wants to try to do that I think it's going to be a speed based roll. But the difficulty starts at 24. Alex [ChaCha] (37:06): What? Daniel [GM] (37:08): This is some deep contortionist shit that you're trying to do. Sampson [Dili] (37:14): You should have been a contortionist, not a juggler. Alex [ChaCha] (37:14): Listen were not even sure ChaCha's human. Daniel [GM] (37:17): This isn't yoga. This is sideshow acts stuff. Marietta [Atalia] (37:21): This Cirque du Soleil guys. Alex [ChaCha] (37:23): How do you know ChaCha isn't a Cirque du Soleil reject? Daniel [GM] (37:27): I don't know, I guess the dice will tell us. Won't it? I mean, I know. But... Alex [ChaCha] (37:33): I want to do it. Just fuck, putting two levels of speed in. Daniel [GM] (37:38): That brings it down an 18. Alex [ChaCha] (37:41): Can do a little pray, going to reset our dice app. Okay. Ready. Natural 20. Guess what? Daniel [GM] (37:49): Great. Alex [ChaCha] (37:49): She rubber band man. Daniel [GM] (37:53): Okay she defiantly turns around. What would you propose is the major effect? Alex [ChaCha] (37:56): What do you think is good major effect? Daniel [GM] (37:59): It's tough right, because getting turned around is a pretty big deal? Sampson [Dili] (38:03): Maybe in turning around she accidentally kicks open a hidden panel. Daniel [GM] (38:07): In a heating shaft? Sampson [Dili] (38:09): It's a maintenance panel. It's a major effect. Daniel [GM] (38:12): I know, I know but I'm also thinking about the fact. Would anybody who is doing maintenance on this, in their right mind go down this vent as a person? Sampson [Dili] (38:23): Five dumb asses who are just trying to get to the aft. Marietta [Atalia] (38:25): I mean eventually you have to because things will get stuff down there. Stace [Nix] (38:29): What if she hits a weak spot that causes it to yeah, break? Daniel [GM] (38:35): I like that., I like that. Alex [ChaCha] (38:36): Yeah. Daniel [GM] (38:37): ChaCha, you as you're turning around you spot a weakness in the seams of the vent. Alex [ChaCha] (38:42): Okay. I found the way out. We just have to get through this seam. Do we want to make room for Nix to punch? Sampson [Dili] (38:53): Can we? Marietta [Atalia] (38:55): I don't think we can. Daniel [GM] (38:55): Well, ChaCha wasn't immediately following Dili. There is theoretically enough room that you guys can space so that Nix can focus on the seam. Although Nix, you all will have to kind of back up so that Nix can back up. And get to the point where she is face first with the seam. Stace [Nix] (39:13): Back it up, up, up. Marietta [Atalia] (39:16): Okay, I'll assist to that effort. Sure why not? Daniel [GM] (39:20): By the way you guys are at T minus 10 minutes to Charmonde. Stace [Nix] (39:24): Ah shit. Guys you're taking too long. Marietta [Atalia] (39:27): All right we're backing up to make room for her. Sampson [Dili] (39:30): We'll punch you in the face when we get out of here Nix. What the fuck? Stace [Nix] (39:33): You can try Dili. I would be so proud. Daniel [GM] (39:38): Okay. Nix how would you like to attempt to work on this seam? Sampson [Dili] (39:44): Death punch, like Kill Bill. Stace [Nix] (39:45): I think an elbow punch. Or I guess just an elbow. Daniel [GM] (39:49): Okay. Marietta [Atalia] (39:50): You know of this elusive elbow punch. Sampson [Dili] (39:54): I'll punch it with my foot. Daniel [GM] (39:56): Okay. Nix, what I'll say is, I'm going to give you a base level of difficulty for this. I will say that there's also a sliding scale of success here. But your base level is 15, to try to bust through this. Stace [Nix] (40:15): Oh God, two levels of bite. Daniel [GM] (40:18): Okay, that brings it down to a nine. Stace [Nix] (40:20): I'll anything else, would being trained in unarmed attacks help? Daniel [GM] (40:26): No because your unarmed attack training would be mostly based around, how do you strike another person or creature, not necessarily something... Stace [Nix] (40:34): Okay. Daniel [GM] (40:34): ...metal. Stace [Nix] (40:35): Well that's all I can really do for that then. I'm just going to roll it. 13. Daniel [GM] (40:42): Okay. You do manage to break the seam open and you can see shaft. You can see sort of a corridor underneath. You will take three might damage though as this metal kind of slices into your arm if you breakthrough. Stace [Nix] (40:59): Okay. Armor help me out? Daniel [GM] (41:01): Armor will help you. Stace [Nix] (41:03): Oh gosh, I hope this doesn't get infected. Sampson [Dili] (41:07): Does this look infected to you? Daniel [GM] (41:13): Okay. You smash enough there that you think that, if you slide forward a little and kick at it with your feet you can burst it open enough that you guys can slide out of this vent. Stace [Nix] (41:26): Nix does that. Daniel [GM] (41:28): Okay. You guys do that. You have found exit from this vent and I assume Nix is going first out into this corridor. Stace [Nix] (41:38): Yeah. Daniel [GM] (41:39): You drop down into this corridor and you see that there is a path that leads to another door. There's a path that leads backwards towards yet another door but in the direction that you're going, you can see another door that leads to one potentially closer to where you were headed. And the rest of you can come out of there just fine. Once you get out here, it's actually way relatively comfortable except for the heat that's venting out of the opening that you've just made. Sampson [Dili] (42:11): When Dili gets out his illusions kind make it seem like his skin is melting because that's what he's feeling. Daniel [GM] (42:16): Right. Okay. It's all Raiders of the Lost Ark. Sampson [Dili] (42:20): I'm sorry Nix I'm not going to punch you, I just got frustrated. It's hot. Stace [Nix] (42:24): I understand Dili, I would have been real proud if you actually punched me in the face though. It's not easy to do man. That would be a real indicator of your development. Sampson [Dili] (42:34): I don't think I can reach. Alex [ChaCha] (42:35): ChaCha will go up and kick Nix in the shin though. Stace [Nix] (42:38): What the fuck ChaCha? Alex [ChaCha] (42:42): You need to learn how to read for heat exhaust vents. Stace [Nix] (42:46): Yeah you're right. Man I really thought that was a shortcut. Those schematics, something's wrong with them. Alex [ChaCha] (42:53): Yeah. Stace [Nix] (42:54): Yeah I think it's the door. Nix will go through the one that appears to be going in the...closer to the same direction they had been going in. Daniel [GM] (43:02): Okay, when you go in here, you see a massive room and at the center of this room is a trap tion that, it's complexity you haven't seen before. There is so many moving part. There are so many lights. There's so much pulsing going and it seems to have a rhythm, you almost feel like you've found the beating heart of this ship. Sampson [Dili] (43:29): Dili's go wide and little stars start to spear, " oh my God you have..." Daniel [GM] (43:34): It is pretty amazing. This is advanced elements that you guys are associate with strange Numenera. But from Dili's perspective they're also so many complex intra connected moving parts that understanding the entirety of it, is probably beyond you at first glance. You probably have to study it for a while. But you seel all these little pieces that you can understand mechanically what they're doing. It is an incredible feat of engineering and Nix you know from the map you saw that on the far side of that should be a door that leads you to where the breach is. Stace [Nix] (44:19): All right no time for sightseeing Dili. Sampson [Dili] (44:21): But it's, look at these filigrees. Stace [Nix] (44:26): I have never seen a filigree in my life Dili. Sampson [Dili] (44:29): It's this thing, it's this thing right here. Come on. Stace [Nix] (44:31): It's a cool thing. It's real cool. Yeah. It's a dope ass machine. Yeah. Sampson [Dili] (44:36): Yeah. Stace [Nix] (44:37): We'll come back to look at it. Marietta [Atalia] (44:39): We should fix this or we can't look at it at all. Stace [Nix] (44:42): Yeah, if we survive. Alex [ChaCha] (44:44): Yeah. Sampson [Dili] (44:44): Right. All right. Stace [Nix] (44:44): All right. Sampson [Dili] (44:44): Dili looks sadly at it as we leave. Daniel [GM] (44:52): You guys go through that door I assume? Stace [Nix] (44:54): Yes. Alex [ChaCha] (44:54): Yes. Daniel [GM] (44:54): Okay. You are T minus five minutes to Charmonde and you go into this room. And you see what looks to be, what was intended to be some sort of containment chamber. And what you see is this destroyed surface that almost looks like it was organic in nature. And you're not sure what was in there. Its empty now. There's just a puddle of something in front of it. Stace [Nix] (45:26): Oh yeah, that's breached as hell. Sampson [Dili] (45:29): This is bad. Sorry is there a hole in the breach was the breach... Daniel [GM] (45:35): Not in the hole just in what was this some sort of organic containment pod. Sampson [Dili] (45:40): Okay. That's okay. Daniel [GM] (45:41): And there is this fluid down in front of this. You're not sure if it was torn or dissolved or what I was. This surface in front it, this organic surface. Sampson [Dili] (45:52): Are there tracks in the liquid? Daniel [GM] (45:54): There are no tracks in the liquid. But anybody who wants to can give me an intellect roll of 12. Those of you have skills in remembering pertinent details, which is two of you. It would be a nine. Stace [Nix] (46:09): That's a 13. Sampson [Dili] (46:11): Mines slightly remembering memories that... Daniel [GM] (46:13): No that wouldn't work for you Dili. [inaudible 00:46:16] Marietta [Atalia] (46:15): I got 14. Daniel [GM] (46:20): This puddle looks a lot like the digestive fluid of the herks and it looks like a lot of it. And that's where we'll end this episode. Marietta [Atalia] (46:31): Cool, cool. Alex [ChaCha] (46:32): Hey do we still have those berries? Stace [Nix] (46:34): They're on the card, yeah. Daniel [GM] (46:36): Somewhere back in the cargo. Something for ChaCha. What stuck of ChaCha this episode? Alex [ChaCha] (46:44): Just you know, being a Cirque du Soleil reject was pretty cool. Daniel [GM] (46:48): Okay. Okay. Alex [ChaCha] (46:51): [inaudible 00:46:51] judge her as a contortionist somehow? Daniel [GM] (46:53): Honestly it makes sense in the context of everything else we found out about ChaCha so far. Alex [ChaCha] (46:58): Yeah she walks long distances somehow, contortionist somehow. Daniel [GM] (47:03): Yeah. Alex [ChaCha] (47:04): She's just designed weird. Daniel [GM] (47:05): We do a segment each week called player intrusions, which is where we offer you the listener an XP to check out something that we think you would actually really dig. This week it is Alex's turn. Alex what would you offer our listeners an XP for? Alex [ChaCha] (47:19): Well we are recording this in the lovely month of August, releasing October 28th and it is right around spooky time and I encourage you, even though please do not go out and trick or treat because it is not safe. It will never be safe. To find a fun way to celebrate spooky time in your own way. I'm trying not to make this a round about, about how white people have ruined Halloween for everybody. Just find some joy. For my family I was raised that holiday time is a time to watch scary movies, it's a tradition of oh it's Christmas time to put in Freddy vs Jason. Halloween is fun because I can do it and not seem like a crazy person. And I just love the feel of it and the aesthetic and just now that I own a home it's kind of fun to be the one giving out candy and seeing kids being just super excited to do something. And probably can't do that this year but hopefully everybody finds a way to make this a fun time for everybody. And as a side note I would like to say happy birthday to my best derby Rot wave Panda, it's literally her birthday when this releases. Daniel [GM] (48:49): Well happy Panda. Stace [Nix] (48:51): Happy birthday Panda. Daniel [GM] (48:52): Yeah Halloween is awesome. I went through a phase when I was not into it, but now that I go trick or treating with my daughter and walk around the neighborhood, it's become a big deal again. And my wife loves to go all out decorating the house. Alex beyond watching scary movies what are your other Halloween traditions? Do you go all out with costumes or party or do you...what do you do on Halloween besides watching scary movies? Alex [ChaCha] (49:18): I mean it's like a weird thing where it's just super relaxing and you put in the movie, you just kind of sit there and chill and for a while we made it a thing. We made sure that we weren't in the house because my family dogs are super reactive to the doorbell and just door in general. Me and my mom would go out to eat on hallow. That was really fun, but just in general my aesthetic for people who have not seen screenshots of my living room, it's like gothic cottage core. It's what I go to decorate my house. I'm hopefully getting my full size play doctor, not just the mini. I'm bogey. Daniel [GM] (50:09): Yeah we go all out decorating. We have skeleton horses that make weeing nays as you get close to them. And the bloat ghost and things like that. We have the weird [inaudible 00:50:21] things like that. Alex [ChaCha] (50:22): You saw the smoke dragon right? Daniel [GM] (50:25): Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Alex [ChaCha] (50:26): You're just, how do I get that in my yard? Daniel [GM] (50:29): Yeah pretty much. Pretty much. And I totally get the family traditon of, off typical movies for a holiday. My parents always watched Scarface on Christmas for some reason. Don't know why. Stace [Nix] (50:40): Okay. Sampson [Dili] (50:42): It's all that snow. Daniel [GM] (50:43): Yeah, it's all that snow. Stace [Nix] (50:46): My family used to go nuts on Halloween and make haunted houses, legit ones. In the barn or around the side of the house, peeled grapes and stuff and then one year, I'm pretty sure without permission used the abandoned house across the street for the haunted house. Marietta [Atalia] (51:03): Amazing. Stace [Nix] (51:03): Yeah it was later burned down by the fire department for practice, but they went out. It was terrifying. Alex [ChaCha] (51:09): That sounds amazing. Stace [Nix] (51:11): My dad chased us with the chainsaw one time. It had no blade, I feel like I have to say. They told such scary yarn about a guy who hacks kids with chainsaws, then my dad came around with the chainsaw. We scattered. Marietta [Atalia] (51:25): That would be horrifying. I'm scared for you. Alex [ChaCha] (51:30): I have one adorable Halloween story actually. And it's really sweet. I was an English teacher in Korea and my, for Halloween they'd go around trick or treating in each classroom and for some reason it was allowed that the kids could give out candy to who they wanted to give candy. And so the unpopular kids didn't get a much. And somehow I raised my classroom right where they were like, lets share and let's all have an even amount of candy. Daniel [GM] (52:06): That's awesome. Alex [ChaCha] (52:07): I just wanted to cry in front of them because they thought of that themselves. They wanted to make sure that each kid had the same amount. And it made me feel so good. Daniel [GM] (52:17): Very cool. If people wanted to reach out to us to tell us about their Halloween traditions or what they thought of the show, how would they do that Marietta? Marietta [Atalia] (52:24): Well if they were a wise individual they would start at our website, which is explorerswanted.fM, where they would find links to all of our social medias and we are on Twitter which is @ExplorersWanted. We're on Instagram which is @explorerswantedpodcast and then we're on Facebook as Explorers Wanted Podcast and we also have a patron now, which is a great way to support us if you're able to do that. We're Explorers Wanted on there we would love that. And then we're also very active on our discord and there're links to that on all of our social medias and our website. It's the best way to access us and socialize with us, but we love tweets and messages and pictures or whatever. Yeah. Please interact, we're desperate. I am at least. I'm very desperate please, please, please. Daniel [GM] (53:12): Yes absolutely we love chatting with people in our discord group any time that they reach out to us on social media. If you love the podcast, the best that you could do for us is to tell a friend. And tell them what you liked about the podcast and why they should listen. The second best thing that you could do for us, is to leave us a five star review on the podcast directories. Specifically Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Podchaser. The reviews there make a huge difference for people finding us. Particularly written reviews. The five star ratings are great but written reviews make a big difference to people checking us out. And in fact we have our first five star review on Podchaser. Marietta [Atalia] (53:56): Yeah Martyn Allan wrote excellent actual play podcast set in the world of Numenera. Great character story and world building with a funny cast and GM. Check them out at their patron page if you want to help support this podcast. Thank you Martyn. Daniel [GM] (54:11): Very nice. Thank you so much Martyn. Martyn is actually one of our patrons and he's also on our discord. He's a great guy. If you didn't like the podcast or if you just thought it was meh. Well this is timely and that is that Halloween is coming up as Alex mentioned and any of you out there who are Buffy fans and watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer know that Halloween is usually a day off for monsters, despite the fact that seems to be one bad one each season that's willing to break the tradition. But this is the joy of fiction, because honestly the monsters never take a day off. They never relax. They wait. They are always there. And if you choose to you can even see them sometimes. The trick of course is the application of silver. Get a front silvered mirror not the typical back silvered, get a silver mirror and set it across the dinning table with a single candle between you and it in an otherwise dark room, hum quietly to yourself. The tune doesn't matter. Soon you will see them. Their gaze yellow malleolus, peering out from behind your own eyes. Daniel [GM] (55:22): if you want to reach out to us individually on social media, you can. You can reach me on Twitter @andrlik. Stace [Nix] (55:30): You can see if I ever find something clever to say @StaceWindu on Twitter. Sampson [Dili] (55:35): It's probably me in your eyes, say hi @SlamPotato. Alex [ChaCha] (55:41): If you think that these monsters could really use some self care, tweet at me @realteeunicorn and tell me what your favorite monster vacation is. I personally like to get my nails done. Marietta [Atalia] (55:54): I'm still absolutely horrible at Twitter, please tell me what I'm doing wrong @imonahike. Daniel [GM] (56:01): Okay, that's all for us. Hope you enjoyed the show. We'll be back next week as we will for every week in the foreseeable future. Have a good night, day or evening or whenever you're listening to this. And Bye. Marietta [Atalia] (56:15): Bye. Sampson [Dili] (56:15): Bye. Alex [ChaCha] (56:15): Bye. Stace [Nix] (56:15): Bye. Alex [ChaCha] (56:47): I'm supper nervous at how awake I am.
