No, this tale is technically in the future for our listeners, although it was-

Time is weird when you record two months ahead. Anyway, last episode on Explorers Wanted. Atalia executed a, I hesitate to call it a plan, scheme?

That's pretty generous.

Yeah, Atalia, impulsively, dropped down from the rafters at a secret auction, and stole the object the crew has been searching for since episode one. Best part, doesn't put her hood up first. Gets spotted by Tamara, the handler's enforcer.

Daniel [GM] 02:54
Does it with her seskii that The Handlers have known she might have.

Stace [Nix] 02:58
Oh, with stolen seskii, yeah. Wow. Atalia's just like, "I don't have any secrets anymore." You know? She's ready to be open and honest about her thievery, so she steals it. Mind you, Atalia ignored ChaCha's excellent plan of loudly bidding on this object while hedge magicking a flamboyant mustache on her face. So, Nix and ChaCha are in the middle of that. Atalia drops down, grabs the object. Tamara is after Atalia, and so Nix and ChaCha follow Atalia, "Where's Dili? Oh, left alone." That's going to be fine. You'll find out.

Yeah, so Atalia, Nix, and ChaCha runs towards the exit, fleeing from Tamara and two guards. Nix, in her first moment of heroism breaks through the door, and throws a Numenera neutralizer back through it, and they get out into the street. Atalia's like, "I have the object, peace." Runs away. ChaCha and Nix stay to fight. Nix does not fight well, ends up on the ground with tiny ChaCha protecting her, but they do manage to get out of that. Thanks to ChaCha helping Nix and then a photonic fabricated barrier they put up between themselves and the guards. They flee back towards Dili on the rooftop. Dili is on the rooftop, hiding beside a statue.

Stace [Nix] 04:33
An illusory statue. Aces of the Knyxos sneaks up behind him and says, "Hello Dili." Dili sets off a screaming madness cypher which promptly causes Dili and Aces to cover their ears while screaming for one total minute. At the end of that Dili manages to escape Aces on the rooftop by rolling off into the street. That's where Atalia encounters him, helps him up, and they scurry away holding hands. It's cute. And so Aces tries to follow, then Nix just breaks Aces knee. ChaCha evades, heads down an alley. Nix evades, heads down a different alley. There was no plan, right? So nobody knows where everyone else is going. Dili and Atalia end up outside Momma Jerrun's. ChaCha goes to The Queen's Spittoon. Nix is on her way to Momma Jerrun's but she stopped to run a quick errand. That errand being crushing Tamara's windpipe, watching her die. Took longer than Nix expected. And then Nix caught up with Dili and Atalia at Momma J's.

You did forget a crucial moment, you also picked up her laser weapon off of her dead body.

Stace [Nix] 05:53
Yeah. I don't know if that's really a crucial moment to Nix though because she don't need it.

Sampson [Dili] 05:58

But there were some people who could use it. 

Stace [Nix] 06:02
You guys can like Hunger Games over it, if you want. But right, so Nix's got this dope ass laser gun artifact that does four damage with an asset to aiming. So it's like a light weapon that does medium damage. It's pretty cool. Though Nix goes to Momma J's and encounters Dili and Atalia there, but before we go inside Momma J's, I want to talk about ChaCha. ChaCha went to The Queen's Spittoon, sat down with Loan Shark Guy and started doing a puppet show in her buddy cop universe of the "Heist" that just went down. So Dili, Atalia, and Nix meet up. Atalia's freaking out because she is like, "Oh my gosh. I didn't even put my hood up. Like this basic fucking part of my craft. I didn't even do it. Tamara saw me." And Nix was like, "Yo. I killed Tamara." But Dili has been hit by a sadness effect and he's just sure everyone is going to die. So we go inside of Momma J's. Atalia give Nix several long searching looks, but doesn't give Nix time to respond to her long searching looks, and hands the object over to Momma J who says something along the lines of, "Pretty cool. There's lots of designs in here. One of them does something with glyphs." And then Dili threw up, "power washing" the floor with vomit. It's related to his backstory, I'm sure we will find out more. And then...

Wow. Dili eats a cinnamon crunch scone, gets cured of his sadness disease, and Momma J pays out and gives ChaCha's share to Nix. And that's where we ended.

Yeah. I think that sums it up. So, just so you guys know you did complete one of your major paths, which was finding this artifact and bringing it to Momma J. So you each have an additional four XP.

So before we get started, is there anything that you want to do with this bounty of XP that is now sitting there. Before you get tempted to use it for roles.

ChaCha can now use healing powers, and she's faster, and I think a little stronger but not like Million Dollar Man.

Wow. Because I just spent my XP. I had zero XP and then I had four XP, and now I have zero XP again. And I did plus one to my edge.

I had eight XP because of the plus four and I've been hoarding some. So I added one to my effort. I gave myself an edge in speed. And that was my third advancement. I'm getting there.

Suddenly Dili whips off his shirt and has six-pack abs and is jacked as all fuck.

Sampson's just saving them all up. He's going to save it until he's got like 40 XP and then he's just go final form all at once.

Okay. Cool so you guy's have got all your advancements. Dili is power washing Momma Jerrun's floor.

Alex [ChaCha] 10:09

And she has turned to Nix and said,

[As Momma Jerrun] It's such a shame that something so carefully crafted could be so easily decoded.

And then she looks at Dili, looks back at Nix and says,

[As Momma Jerrun] It's not his fault. He's still young."

[As Nix]  Yes, Momma J.

Marietta [Atalia] 10:33
They are very willing.

Sampson [Dili] 10:37
[As Dili]  Okay. I'm sorry. I don't usually do that.

[As Nix]  I don't know you well enough to know if that's true Dili.

Sampson [Dili] 10:45
[As Dili]  I would be kicked out of the shop long ago if I were into flooring so easily. I'm sorry, is that cleaning supplies? I need to clean this up.

[As Momma Jerrun] Don't worry Dili I'll take care of it. 

Sampson [Dili] 10:56
Okay. Dili will kind of furl his brow a little bit and then you'll start to see how this combination of flow charts and bra-ket notation start to sprout and form around his head. You see he's deep in thought. And wiping the vomit off his mouth.

[As Momma Jerrun] Drink some tea dear, it'll help.

I don't throw up often so it was good. I'll take a cookie, thank you.

That's amazing.

Stace [Nix] 11:29
So what made you throw up Dili? Was it decoded glyphs?

Sampson [Dili] 11:33
Yeah. Not so tonight been stressful. Just in general. Actually, can I look at the object, just for a second? I'm not going to take it, I just want to look at this. You said there were plans of a device that would decode glyphs.

Daniel [GM] 11:48
[As Momma Jerrun] I suppose I could show you that.

And she brings it out, and you see this plan. Its bound. It's very complex. It's something that would take probably weeks to implement if you had all the materials ready to go. It's definitely something that's much more complex than you've tried to do before. At least nothing that you could do fast. As you're looking at it and as your reading some of the notes about it, and putting two and two together, you're like, "Yep. This thing could do the job."

Sampson [Dili] 12:20
[As Dili]  Nice. I never thought. I made those glyphs up on the spot. You rerouted the encapsulated interface and lowered the visual over rider by injecting PCI.

Daniel [GM] 12:34
Momma Jerrun turns off the plan and goes over and opens a box and sets it in there, closes the box. Then she says,

[As Momma Jerrun] Oh Dili, I'm sorry to give you bad news there. It does sound like a bit of a dilemma you have. Hopefully the shins will help you solve your problems.

Sampson [Dili] 12:54
[As Dili]  Right. Right.

Marietta [Atalia] 12:56
Can I glean what Momma Jerrun's mood is? As far as like if her maniacal plan is all coming together? Or is she relieved? Or?

Yeah. I mean, this is a pretty simple social role. I think it would be a six, so just trying to get that general feeling. What did you do?

Yeah.

Okay. It sounds to you like Momma Jerrun, it seems even more suspicious than usual. You think Momma Jerrun may have... You suspect she's telling Dili this and it's some sort of devious trick.

Marietta [Atalia] 13:38
All right. My suspicion guard is up. I'm prepared to defend Dili to the death.

Daniel [GM] 13:44
That's okay because Atalia is not impulsive at all. 

Marietta [Atalia] 13:48

Stace [Nix] 13:49
[As Nix]  Momma J, you got anything else for us? Or anything else you need?

Daniel [GM] 13:54
[As Dili]  Oh you mean in terms of work. Yes I suppose I do, but I think I prefer to have that conversation with all four of you.

[As Nix]  Oh, like we're a crew. Yeah. All right.

[As Dili]  Well seems like you work well together. It would be a shame for me to suggest in any way that the circumstances be different.

[As Atalia]  Yeah, actually I'm kind of worried. I thought ChaCha would have appeared. This kind of seemed like where we were supposed to go, right?

[As Nix]  Yeah. It's like, we shouldn't leave one of us by themselves.

Marietta [Atalia] 14:29
Atalia just stares. She holds Dili's hand again.

Daniel [GM] 14:36
I will say this, last time Momma Jerrun had looked at the fire, partway into your time together, and then come back and said that ChaCha was at The Queen's Spittoon.

Marietta [Atalia] 14:46
Oh, right, right, right. Okay. Yeah.

[As Atalia]  All right. Just give me one sec. I'll head over to the spittoon and find ChaCha. 

Stace [Nix] 14:55
Nix is going to do some recovery rolls.

Daniel [GM] 14:59
Okay. Momma Jerrun say,

[As Momma Jerrun] Oh that's fine. That's fine. I'll tell you what, you all look tired so why don't you come back and visit me tomorrow evening. We can talk about the details then.

Stace [Nix] 15:12
[As Nix]  Cool. So pretty sure... Well I was followed here but I killed them. So just watch yourself tonight. We sort of took it right under their noses. You know what I mean?

Daniel [GM] 15:23
Nix give me some sort of perception or insight roll, and it will be a nine.

Stace [Nix] 15:31

You catch a, it’s not like a smile or anything right, it's just the tiniest twitch of her lips. You can tell that she is deeply amused at this moment. She's like,

[As Momma Jerrun] That's very sweet of you dear, but I'm sure I'll be fine.

Stace [Nix] 15:50
[As Nix]  Can I take some of these scones?

She blinks for a second.

[As Momma Jerrun] Sure.

Stace [Nix] 15:55
Nix takes like two scones, and eats one, and puts the other one in her pocket.

[As Momma Jerrun] Right. Well have a good night all. I hope you get some good, well deserved rest. You did wonderful work today.

Then she kind of shoves you all out.

[As Momma Jerrun] Oh it's all right Dili I was up and working anyway.

And then she shuts the door.

Were we there for 10 minutes Daniel? By chance?

Yes. I think Dili's throw up probably took at least 10 minutes. You don't complete three throw ups in less than 10 minutes, if you're power washing.

Stace [Nix] 16:36
That's true you've got to make sure you get into all the corners.

Marietta [Atalia] 16:39

I think I was just stressed out and that kind of upset my stomach. We've been up for what seems like forever, so if we could go to bed sometime soon that would be awesome.

[As Nix]  Yeah. She suffocated. Then I dragged her body in an alley. Then I covered her with trash.

Yesum. So it takes you almost no time to reach The Queen's Spittoon. As you come in you see ChaCha over with Loan Shark guy in the middle of a scorpion puppet show. And I think that you guys would come within earshot probably near the climax of the puppet show. So ChaCha what do they overhear as they come within range?

She's going to grab one of the scorps and pretend like its Nix. She's like kicking the life out of Aces knee. And then this is for my little friend. And then break the scorp in half.

Sampson [Dili] 19:04
Is it obvious to us, the story that ChaCha is telling?

No, probably not to Atalia and Dili. Nix would probably pretty quickly figure it out, even with the embellishments. Loan Shark Guy is all fucking over it. He actually, like is sitting in this table next to you, he claps and gives a huge whistle. And when his goons are not as enthusiastic, he looks at them and they begin clapping as well. And then he looks over your shoulder and sees Nix and his face kind of goes dark and stony again.

[As Nix]  Yo, what up ChaCha I was worried about you.

[As ChaCha]  No, this place is safe.

[As Nix]  Yeah, you're right.

Loan shark guy does a side long glance at Nix and then he looks at ChaCha and he leans in and lowers his voice. Like it's definitely meant for only ChaCha to hear. And he says,

[As Loan Shark Guy] I'll tell you something ChaCha, anybody in this bar messes with you, they have to mess with me.

Alex [ChaCha] 20:10
[As ChaCha]  Exactly. We'll burn them all down and it'll be fun.

Daniel [GM] 20:14
[As Loan Shark Guy] Fuck yeah.

Stace [Nix] 20:15
[As Nix]  Okay. I'll leave you guys to it. I've got to go in the bathroom for a sec.

Sampson [Dili] 20:21
[As Dili]  You're just going to get blood out of something. Oh no.

Daniel [GM] 20:25
Okay. Its the same as always.

Stace [Nix] 20:29
She goes up to the creature that was traumatized and pats it on the side of the head and says,

[As Nix]  It's over now, buddy.

And once again, it's mouth doesn't move when it talks. It's just got this questioning...

[As Nix]  Yeah. She's gone. Yeah.

Just a tear come down from one eye.

Nix wipes it with her sleeve.

You hear this little happy sob from deep in its throat. And the mouth closes for a second and then it opens again.

[As Toilet Monster] I'm ready now.

Stace [Nix] 21:05
[As Nix]  It would be my honor.

Okay so we cut back to the rest of the crew, a few minutes later as Nix is coming out of the bathroom.

Sampson [Dili] 21:34
Question does Dili have his hood up?

Daniel [GM] 21:35
Yes.

Sampson [Dili] 21:36

Stace [Nix] 21:36
A legit question Daniel, considering.

As you're coming out of the bathroom, you see Karfa look over at you and kind of give you a friendly nod. 

Stace [Nix] 21:47
Like a he wants to talk to me friendly nod? Or like a...

[As Atalia]  ChaCha we're glad you're here.

[As ChaCha]  Well you can't go back to your Grandma's place because that's not smart to lead the bad guys to your Grandma's place. Can't lead them to Nix's place because that's dangerous. And Momma Jerrun's weird. She's doing weird business behind our backs. I don't like it.

[As ChaCha]  And so here is safe. Here they'll kill people. And it'll be fine.

[As Dili]  What? No. What do you guys have against Momma Jerrun?

[As Nix]  I don't know man, she seems fine to me. She's always giving me scones, paying us double.

Marietta [Atalia] 22:41
[As Atalia]  When we were in there, I was checking her out and she definitely has some ulterior plan.

Nix looks over at Loan Shark Guy and is like, all right ChaCha trusts you so. Pulls out ChaCha's money and gives it to her.

I think ChaCha just slow nods and slips into her pocket.

It's like it vanishes immediately into the folds of your cloak.

You don't know how many pockets she has or what's in those pockets. We'll find out one day.

But as you are looking at them, the woman you do not recognize whatsoever. The man, when you pull back his hood and look at him, because you have an asset to remembering details, a skill, you recognize his face even though you don't know who they are. You remember them because they stepped out of a crowd during a meeting and slit Jane's throat.

They haven't been really like cleaned and kept up per-se, but there are fresh sheets and blankets in the closets for them and it's certainly the nicest room, I think, that ChaCha has ever slept in. And Dili, this guestroom is bigger than the residential space that you have in your shop.

Okay. So you guys find the notes, though he hasn't figured out much else about the snake. Just mentioned that it was growing larger and seemed to be getting more restless inside the container. But he had a note that he had switched it to a strong glass container which should hold it just fine. Then you see that there is another pad of paper nearby, where he's got customer requests. So you see that there's one that's just somebody looking for a duplicate of one of his flashy things out front. The price looks ridiculously too high to you Dili. This guy was clearly better at business than you were, even if he was a worse rank. Then there's a note underneath that had something about pre-fab construction and it just had an address on it. And it's the address of the warehouse you guys visited last night.

And the rest of you guys see Nix's jaw kind of open wider than it should, from the roof of her mouth extends two fangs, and this weird yellow green fluid spits out across the rooms and lands on a surface and sizzles there for a moment as the fangs retreat back up into Nix's mouth. And Nix you feel so much better. That's where were going to end this episode.

Daniel is actually the one who recommended it to us first and then I started watching it, and it is amazing. If you want, I don't know, some bad ass women kicking ass. Some hot women kicking ass. I don't know what is the more appealing to the masses, also great emotional character development. My favorite thing about it, it takes place after Harley and the Joker split and Harley coming to terms that her relationship with Joker was finished. Shitty and terrible, which unfortunately I know women who have had really shitty and terrible relationships. And it's really good to see her acknowledge it and see it for what it is, and then overcome it and become stronger and just be really kick ass the whole time. She's really good friends with... Poison Ivy is in it, and a lot of it centers around their friendship, which was really really great. And friendship, kicking ass, overcoming adversity. You know, a good super hero show. But also just, it's good to see a female center kicking ass.

I'm not as swelled about a lot of DC things so I was really impressed with this and really happy with how they did it and portrayed everyone. And if you decide to watch it, just know that in real life, season two episode seven came out. So when you get to the end of that, you will know why there's so much hype.
