Daniel Andrlik: [00:00:30] Welcome to Explorers Wanted. We are a weekly Numenera Actual Play podcast. I will be your humble GM, Daniel Andrlik. With me today is Sampson Davis. Sampson Davis: I forget to get water before we started, so now I'm just going to have to deal with that. Daniel Andrlik: Yeah. You'll just have to settle for beer. Marietta Jones. Marietta Jones: I've chosen strawberry margarita as my form of hydration. Daniel Andrlik: Stace Babcock. Stace Babcock: Mike's Hard Lemonade cranberry. Daniel Andrlik: And Alex Finn. Alex Finn: [00:01:00] Max has a big old juicy booty. My mom made me send a picture of it to my aunt. Daniel Andrlik: So who remember what happens last time? I'm going to pick on Marietta. Marietta Jones: Ooh, I took notes. We started last episode with me with Gma in her little safe house that she'd give me the question-question mark Cypher. And then, ChaCha, Nix, and Dili were in the alley deciding where to go. They were going to go to Mamma Jerrun's [00:01:30] or Doc Taraz's safe house, and they decided to go to Mamma Jerrun's first and she was in a meeting with someone who they didn't really see, but she's like, "I'm busy, I can't help you. Figure out your own shit." And then as they were leaving they heard her say to the person, "The job I had in mind was," or whatever. And then, they start heading towards where Doc Taraz is being kept, and I think Merrick's there. And then, Atalia tries to help [Cheron 00:01:56] heal herself, but she's nervous and [00:02:00] Marietta rolled a three, so didn't really help her. Marietta Jones: And then, she needs at least 24 hours and then they mildly discuss Atalia, Jeskii, and Grandma or Gma figures out that Jeskey is probably a gift from Salianna to Atalia, some sort of convoluted mother gifts. Makes a lot of sense. That was a revelation. And then Atalia goes to Mamma Jerrun's looking for [00:02:30] the group, and Mamma Jerrun's like, "I'm busy. I'm trying to have this gosh dang meeting." And Atalia's like, "Hey, have you seen the people that I hang out with sometimes?" She's like, "Yeah. They just left. They said they needed to hide." And I was like, well, my options are so vast that I have no idea which of the multitude to pick. So she went to where Doc Taraz was being kept and Nix was there, and we helped Doc Taraz go to the bathroom after a while. Marietta Jones: It was a little weird. And then, she insinuated [00:03:00] that she knows [Amaranth 00:03:02] and Salianna after Atalia shows up, and we decide that we're going to let her go the next morning, but we wait to have our full night's rest before we do that. And so, Nix lets her go in the morning after doing the three different A, B, and C forms of paperwork. And Atalia scoots out the back door while Nix is gone because she's not good at talking about her feelings, [00:03:30] and needs to go meet Gma by herself, and she's not convinced that Nix will be down for that. [crosstalk 00:03:35] to have that confrontation at all. And then, Atalia rolls up at Gma's safe house, and she is pulling teeth out of this bro on the floor. And Atalia's like, "Gosh, Grandma, you ought to lock the door at least." And then we ended the episode. She was like, "I think I figured out where it is," or something in that [00:04:00] sense. Daniel Andrlik: Yeah. So we leave with your Gma is standing there with a bloody tooth and her pliers. Marietta Jones: Excellent. Daniel Andrlik: The figure on the ground is definitely passed out. You can tell they're breathing because there's a blood bubble being blown from their nose. Gma says, "Good news. I think my friend here has given us the information we need to fund the control module. Marietta Jones: Good, because tooth infections. [00:04:30] It's close to the brain. Don't recommend. Daniel Andrlik: Yeah. It's probably the least he needs to worry about. And she leans down, and in her other hand, you didn't notice it before, a dagger is in it and she stabs upward through underneath his chin, up into his brain. Marietta Jones: Ruthless. Gosh. [00:05:00] Okay, well, that's a way to take care of that problem. Daniel Andrlik: Well, you interrogate somebody who's a member of a criminal organization, you don't just let them walk away afterwards. That'll always come back to haunt you. Marietta Jones: [crosstalk 00:05:14] You're going to laugh at this. You remember that Doc Taraz lady? Daniel Andrlik: Yeah. The [nano 00:05:18] you guys were stalking. Marietta Jones: Yeah. We interrogated her and then we let her go. Daniel Andrlik: Did she see your faces? Marietta Jones: I'm sure she knows who each and every one of us are. Including me. [00:05:30] I'm sure it'll be fine. Daniel Andrlik: She puts her head in her hands. She's like... Marietta Jones: Atalia will pull the Cypher out of her back pocket though that you gave her earlier and said, "But if I do know what this is, I don't think it'll be a problem for that much longer." Daniel Andrlik: Yeah. How the hell did you end up tangled up with Doc Taraz? Marietta Jones: He was siphoning the energy off of Nix's mom, from her teleportation attack banks that are connected to some weird thing [00:06:00] from Nix's... Not her fucking co-op, what is it called? Stace Babcock: Her fucking co-op. Daniel Andrlik: Honey, I love you very dearly, but as you could imagine the last couple days have been hard on me, so forgive me if I'm harsh in my language. Marietta Jones: What did Nix leave to go... her organization thing. Daniel Andrlik: Her cult, honey. That's the word you're looking for. Marietta Jones: [00:06:30] Yeah. Okay. Thank you. The Wayward Travelers or whatever, they have some weird thing going on, and there's this item and she's having teleportation attacks. And Doc Taraz was stealing the power from it to power her artifact that's under her house, which I wanted to check out because apparently it does things like copy Cypher. Very curious about that. But we have bigger matters to deal with now, so if I don't get it- Daniel Andrlik: Gma leans back for a second and she's like, "That's interesting. Under her house you say?" Marietta Jones: [00:07:00] Yeah. That's what she said, but she also said it was a Labyrinth, so before we were letting her go I was thinking that we might need her to take us to it. But also don't trust her, because of course I don't. I haven't trusted her since I smelled the lady. Daniel Andrlik: Hmm. Who else knows about this? Marietta Jones: She told us during our interrogation of her which was mild at best. So not my mother, just our group. But we decided that we weren't going to [00:07:30] address it immediately because of this. Though, Dili suggested that maybe we use that to get the item that I need to finish the quest. But then you said that you didn't think that even if I completed the mission, that she would actually remove it from me. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. Well, if it's absolutely just you and your friends and nobody else, it should be okay. Stace Babcock: Nix definitely mentioned to Atalia that she told the Knyxos about it. Marietta Jones: Oh. Atalia would take that back then. Actually, I just remembered [00:08:00] Nix did tell the Knyxos about it while she was being interrogated by them. Yeah. She was being interrogated. That's why you were there. You knew that. Okay. So the Knyxos do know I guess. Daniel Andrlik: Most of the rest of Gma's features stay absolutely still, except you notice that her right hand grips the pliers more strongly, and the tooth shatters into dust. She says, "She told to Knyxos?" Marietta Jones: [00:08:30] I mean, it was just Minos, [Zeusis 00:08:31], and [Asidra 00:08:32], and her in a room. What would you do if you were her? Daniel Andrlik: Well, I would spend all my time trying to get out that room or killing them all. Marietta Jones: I mean, she did tackle [Deuces 00:08:44] down the stairs. I think she just needed an opportunity. Daniel Andrlik: Did she finish the job? Marietta Jones: No. Daniel Andrlik: Okay, well, I'm just saying, honey, it feels like you've gotten wrapped up in a lot of dangerous things [00:09:00] ever since you reunited with Nix. I'm not saying anything. You know what I'm fond of Nix. But ever since you were kids, she always used to stick up for you. But it seems to me that your life has become far, far more complicated, because you've been reunited with Nix, and whatever of her ideas she came back from that cult with. Marietta Jones: I forgot some feelings about her little [00:09:30] cult thing. That's not my favorite. But I will say, that if it hadn't been for them, I wouldn't have been able to even start removing from myself from the handler situation. So I do have them to thank for that, but I see what you're saying. I do. I mean, as much as I didn't want to think that way, as much as I wanted to just be a part of the group the way that she wanted me to be, it was my downfall. And I worry about that, because I do want to destroy this thing. I would like to [00:10:00] stop my mother, and I think that's just going to make me a lot hotter, too. Daniel Andrlik: I mean, we all have lines and what's most important is do what's in our lines. But like I said, honey, last night, and I'm not asking you to make a decision now or anything, I'm just saying sometimes too many lines can trip you up. It's not a safe world, and sometimes the best you can do [00:10:30] is survive, and we [Stone's 00:10:33], we're survivors. Marietta Jones: I don't want to live like this forever, either. I did have my own dreams that weren't tied into my mothers, and I would like to still pursue those, but I can't do it here. Daniel Andrlik: Then we need to get this thing out of you, honey. Marietta Jones: Okay. Let's do it then. I don't want to be a handler, I don't want to be my mom. Daniel Andrlik: All right. Just keep that thing I gave you close, okay? Marietta Jones: Oh, it's in my back pocket, don't you worry. [00:11:00] It's right there. Accessible. Daniel Andrlik: Right. Just don't use it until we have this part taken care of. Marietta Jones: Oh, on. I'm aware that it works across great distances. Daniel Andrlik: There's a vault, the Handler's Keep, over in Ward Maras. The control modules should be kept there. It's unlikely that your mom would have been able to check one out. She would have had to only check out the device that goes into [00:11:30] the injector. So there's a good chance that it's still there. "Well," she pauses and looks down at the body next to her and says, "At least until they notice our friend here is missing." Marietta Jones: So we do need to go now then is what you're saying? Daniel Andrlik: Doesn't necessarily need to be now, but I don't think we have more than a day to make our move if we want to surprise them. Marietta Jones: I guess, how do you want to do it? Daniel Andrlik: Well, I'm not in any condition for a frontal assault like with the Knyxos. I'm not going to [00:12:00] be able to do anything at that level. Maybe something, maybe you could sneak in. I probably wouldn't count on myself for sneaking. I could probably provide a distraction as long as it's not a full on assault. Marietta Jones: If you go around the building as I can use this scanning artifact to know where it is in there, and I can probably get him out. Daniel Andrlik: That'd be useful. She reaches into that box you had earlier and she pulls out a piece of gauze, and she pulls out [00:12:30] a writing utensil, and she scrapes three symbols into the gauze. Then she tears off that strip and hands it to you and says, "The vault's locked, but assuming our friend here wasn't stronger than I give him credit for, that should be the code to get in." Marietta Jones: Well, that makes things a lot easier. Daniel Andrlik: Well, you have to get past the guards first, and we have to hope that they don't [00:13:00] have anybody else stationed there. But I can try to think of a distraction. I mean, the biggest thing is we need to make sure that Salianna doesn't figure out what you're doing. Marietta Jones: I mean, she shouldn't be able to unless she's tracking me in some other way? Daniel Andrlik: I'm less worried about that, I'm more worried about could she be at the vault in some way? Could she predict this? It's been a long time and I have to give your mother credit, she's slyer than I expected, even [00:13:30] knowing her like I do. Marietta Jones: Yeah. I'm perfectly happy to attempt to infiltrate. Also, I could get assistance and we'd obviously benefit from that, but I think slip in, slip out. Daniel Andrlik: Extra hands would be good. It's more risk, but definitely with me in my wounded state, it would be good if somebody could provide you backup in case something goes wrong. Marietta Jones: And you think we have up to another day. Do you want to take that day to rest? Daniel Andrlik: I'm not in condition [00:14:00] to do anything else, honestly. I may have overexerted myself with my friend here. Marietta Jones: Where is the safe house that... Is it the same place that I was in before with them, or is it a different building. Daniel Andrlik: No, it's in Ward Maras, which is the ward that Nix's family grew up in and that Doc Taraz lives in. It's the really highfaluted area that isn't actual court people. She can give you an address for it. It's just a building you haven't been to in that ward. Marietta Jones: [00:14:30] I'm going to go get it. And then- Daniel Andrlik: Well, don't go now. I still want to provide a distraction for you. Let's wait a day and then make our move then. Honey, we don't know for sure how many guards are in there. Marietta Jones: Yeah. I'll go scout it. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. Be careful. I love you, Atalia. Marietta Jones: Do you want to just meet up tomorrow night by the address, and I look at a map that I presume that we have somewhere, like an alley a few blocks away. Daniel Andrlik: [00:15:00] Yeah. Between you and Gma you can figure out a spot. That's no problem. She's like, "That'd be good." Marietta Jones: I just know you don't want me to bring anyone else here. Daniel Andrlik: Yeah. Especially since I need to rest before I try to move this body. Marietta Jones: Yeah. Speaking of which, I brought you this baguette. Daniel Andrlik: Oh, thank you so much, dear. Seriously, I have some of these rations in here, but they are terrible. Marietta Jones: Yeah. I noticed those MREs. So I thought I would grab [00:15:30] something as I walked past. Anyways, some carbs never did anyone bad. Daniel Andrlik: She munches them up and says, "It's funny. There's some nanos right now there are saying these are bad for you, but honestly, I couldn't live with them." Marietta Jones: They say you can just not eat any of them, and that your body will be fine. But [inaudible 00:15:52] and people don't realize it, so I can't really stick to that anyways, some people in there. Daniel Andrlik: Yeah. Yeah. Makes sense. [00:16:00] The only thing I wish I had had the foresight to do was to pack some tea. Go scope the place out. Find your friends if you feel like you would be good to get them, they could provide help, and I'll meet you there tomorrow night. Marietta Jones: Okay. Atalia will leave a handful of shins on the table, just like five, because she's really broke right now saying, "It's all I got in my pocket right now, sorry. But if you need anything else, I'll see you tomorrow night." Daniel Andrlik: All right. And so, you leave. And where does Atalia head after [00:16:30] that? Is she heading back to the Doc Taraz safe house, or somewhere else? Marietta Jones: I think she alley-to-rooftop, alley-to-rooftop, makes her way over to Ward Maras to find this address, but she'll do a wide loop of it first as she gets closer. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. So since you're doing a cautious stealthy approach, that'll make it a 12 to start stealth, and then for you since you're specialized, that's a six. Marietta Jones: All right. I going to reroll that one actually. Just going to- Daniel Andrlik: [crosstalk 00:17:02] [00:17:00] Was that a one or something. Marietta Jones: It was just a two, so I would just like to know. That's a 14. I'm collecting 14s tonight. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. So you make your wide circle around, and you get up, and you're at a rooftop across the street from this building. It's relatively unassuming, but giving that what your Gma told you, you do notice a pattern of movement [00:17:30] around the windows and that is there almost always is a silhouette of somebody at the window looking out for all the windows. Marietta Jones: Can I scan it without being seen? Daniel Andrlik: You would have to sneak up next to it so you could do that. You've been doing pretty well, but because this is unwatched, so it's a 15 start, you're specialized, which makes it a nine. Marietta Jones: And the level of effort, my pools are so gross, still. Daniel Andrlik: So it's a six. Marietta Jones: 11. Daniel Andrlik: [00:18:00] Okay. So you get up close, you feel quite comfortably, without being noticed. And you scan this building. You get a layout. There are three floors to this building, two above ground, one below. There are multiple rooms, most of at the top two floors look like standard rooms. There are definitely, at least in the upper floors, you count at least 10 people there. Down in the [00:18:30] floor below you can see that there is a stairway down, and then there are three relatively simple rooms, and then it hits a spot in the scan that is absolutely just black and absent. Something where the scan doesn't penetrate, but it's a very obvious rectangle covering a fair amount of space. So even though the scan doesn't say anything about it, it's quite obvious that this is some sort [00:19:00] of structure the scanner can't penetrate. Marietta Jones: I'll pat Jeskey on the head and whisper so, so quietly, like is it just me? Daniel Andrlik: She turns and licks her nose. Marietta Jones: And then I would like to get the fuck out of there. Daniel Andrlik: So first roll, one D-10 to determine if your artifact [crosstalk 00:19:20] depletes. Marietta Jones: Ooh, that is a good thing. Three. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. That's fine. So you and Jeskey, I would say you could slip out of there no problem. You don't have [00:19:30] to roll stealth again. Where would Atalia go after that? It's probably about 11:00 PM now. Marietta Jones: Atalia has no money, so she'll head back to where Doc Taraz was being kept, see if they're there. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. So then the camera flips over to the safe house where Doc Taraz was originally kept the formerly known as Doc Taraz cell safe house, and Nix has just walked in and realized that Atalia is nowhere to be seen in here. Stace Babcock: Yo, you guys [00:20:00] seen Atalia? Did she say where she was going? Sampson Davis: What? What's that? Stace Babcock: Where'd Atalia go? Sampson Davis: It's been a long day. Alex Finn: We were sleeping. Sampson Davis: Yeah. Alex Finn: She was on watch, wasn't she? Sampson Davis: In the shadows, she does that. Stace Babcock: No. Alex Finn: Is she taking a poop? People do that? Sampson Davis: Is she behind you? Alex Finn: Poop. Stace Babcock: No. Weird. I guess, I mean... Nix will look back out onto the street and look both ways. Daniel Andrlik: [00:20:30] Just an empty, silent road. Stace Babcock: Well, I guess we'll just chill and wait for her to come back? What else are we supposed to be doing? Do we have a job? Alex Finn: No. Sampson Davis: I thought we were going to go look for the control module that is controlling the thing inside of Atalia, but we need Atalia for that one. Alex Finn: Yeah. She has the little scanner that would show us a building layout, and we probably shouldn't go into anymore buildings blind. Sampson Davis: That [00:21:00] would be great. Alex Finn: I was willing to do it that other time because they had you, Nix. But I mean, I like Atalia, but if she goes in by herself, it's not safe for us to go get her. She has Gma. Sampson Davis: Yeah. Also, Atalia seems like the kind of person that might be able to just slip out by herself, and that we would make things a lot worse, probably. Alex Finn: Yeah. Remember how the auction went? Stace Babcock: Yeah. No. That's not helping the point, ChaCha, [00:21:30] actually. Because she did not slip out. She didn't say where she was going? Sampson Davis: I didn't even know she was gone. Alex Finn: No. Stace Babcock: I mean, I think we need to just lay low honestly, for now. I think we might have really pissed of the Knyxos if you think about it. Sampson Davis: I've been trying not to, but I think you're right. Stace Babcock: Yeah. I think we pissed Minos right the fuck off. So I guess I'm honestly fine with just chilling [00:22:00] until Merrick kicks us out of here or whatever. Daniel Andrlik: Dili, you hear a voice in your head, familiar voice, that says, "Yes, they're an odd one." Sampson Davis: And Dili will say, "Which one?" Daniel Andrlik: Minos, there's something wrong about him. He's different than he appears. Sampson Davis: As in he's not human? Daniel Andrlik: Unclear. Sampson Davis: What detail tipped you off that he was different? Daniel Andrlik: There's something in the way his [00:22:30] thoughts feel when you're near him. Sampson Davis: Nix, so you talked to who I think is the head of the Knyxos, what was he like? How was that interaction? Stace Babcock: Oh, yeah. He's a giant dude, and has this weird metal collar. He seemed pretty chill, honestly. I think he did want to kill me, but he didn't. He had a lot of questions. Well, no, I actually think maybe he didn't want to kill me, because he was really interested in actually having [00:23:00] me work for him. Sampson Davis: Yeah. What was with that? Because you had a bounty with the Knyxos, right? So what did he want? Stace Babcock: He either wanted me to be Deuce's new partner or I was totally trying to see if I could trade info on the artifact for getting the fuck out of there. Sampson Davis: What did you tell him? Stace Babcock: That there's an artifact somewhere under Ward Mara's that's really powerful. Sampson Davis: Okay. That's going to- Daniel Andrlik: And that is how one of the queen's nanos got their abilities. Stace Babcock: Oh, yeah. And that the queen's [00:23:30] nano uses it to be badass. Sampson Davis: Interesting. Okay. But- Stace Babcock: Yeah. I thought maybe we could get the guardians to ambush them down there or something, once the dust had settled and I'd gotten out of there. But I hadn't worked that out yet before y'all invaded, I guess, Dili. Honestly, that was ballsy. Sampson Davis: Yeah. That wasn't my idea, obviously. Alex Finn: That was the Gma, after Gma hit him. Sampson Davis: Yeah. She did. She slapped me, hard. That was [00:24:00] not what I wanted. Stace Babcock: Oh. Gma's never hit me, man. What did you do? Sampson Davis: Well... Alex Finn: He didn't promise to commit. Sampson Davis: I said I would help. Alex Finn: Yeah. But you have to be 100% in it when you're saying, "Yeah, we're going to go and fuck shit up and rescue." You were like, "I'll go in and rescue," but the fuck shit up? That was the crux. Sampson Davis: I don't really fuck shit up on drop of a hat. [00:24:30] I need time to prepare. Let me build something, I can fuck shit up, but just throw me into something, I got nothing. I got a knife, now. Stace Babcock: Well- Alex Finn: [crosstalk 00:24:41]. Daniel Andrlik: Dili needs foreplay first. Sampson Davis: Yeah. Romance me, come on. Stace Babcock: Yeah. So I think probably honestly for once you guys... Well, I almost said something, but I didn't mean it the way it sounded. But I think that maybe we should just lay low. Like you said, Atalia's real sneaky. Sampson Davis: [00:25:00] Yeah. I agree. We should definitely stay in here. I doubt we could find Atalia if she wants to not be found. Stace Babcock: If we don't see her though by dusk I think that I would probably want to go looking. Sampson Davis: Agreed. Stace Babcock: If she's not back before the streetlights come on. Sampson Davis: Agreed. Marietta Jones: Well, wasn't it streetlights when you let her go, though? Stace Babcock: Oh, fuck. Before the streetlights turn off. Alex Finn: I think that's when we go talk to Mamma Jerrun. Sampson Davis: [00:25:30] Oh, yeah. Who is that person. Did you guys recognize? Stace Babcock: Guys, I think that Mamma J's not super happy with us, so I'm going to give her some time to forget about the fact that we interrupted her meeting, personally. Alex Finn: I mean, the other option is we bust into the handler's hideout looking for Atalia. Sampson Davis: I don't think we should do that. I bust into one criminal organization's hiding place. I'm over it, honestly, not a big fan of that. Stace Babcock: [00:26:00] Let's just make sure Atalia is actually missing, before we bust into the handler's. Alex Finn: I don't think we should bust into the handler's. We barely survived busting into the Knyxos, and we had Gma. We don't have Gma. Stace Babcock: So we're chilling. Yeah. Right. We're chill. Sampson Davis: Chill. Yeah. Alex Finn: Yeah. Chill. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. So you guys chill for about four hours, and then Atalia slips in. Marietta Jones: I brought baguettes. Sampson Davis: Yay. Marietta Jones: [00:26:30] One for you, and one for you, and one for you. Daniel Andrlik: This is Atalia's new solution for everything. Marietta Jones: I'm sorry. I'm really bad at conversations. I went to go see Grandma, or Gma. We know where the controller is. And I'll pull out the scanning artifact, and turn around the plans of the building that I most recently scanned. Daniel Andrlik: Mm-hmm (affirmative). Okay. Yeah. Everybody can see the layout. Sampson Davis: Where is it? Marietta Jones: I think [00:27:00] it's in this vault, is what she said. And I think this is the vault, and I have the code for it. Sampson Davis: Oh, no way? Where's the building. Marietta Jones: Oh, it's in Ward Maras where Nix's family lives, lived, sorry. Daniel Andrlik: The exiles on their way to [Treyolas 00:27:20]. Sampson Davis: So here's a thought. There's some sort of Labyrinth beneath Doc Taraz's place, right? So there's probably [00:27:30] other entrances. So do you think there's a chance... Hey, Atalia, what are the limitations on your building scanner? Do you think it could scan a Labyrinth? Marietta Jones: Do I think I could scan a Labyrinth? Daniel Andrlik: Depends on the size of the Labyrinth. Marietta Jones: Also, look, I'm really not big on that idea. I'm really curious as a nano about that artifact, but Nix told the Knyxos about it. Sampson Davis: Oh, no, no, no. We're not touching the artifact when we go down there. I'm thinking what if there's [00:28:00] a path using that Labyrinth to get underneath this building. Marietta Jones: Oh, I think they're separate things. I mean, I think this labyrinth is specific to the queen. I don't think it would pop up underneath a handler's hide out, you know what I mean? Sampson Davis: Why not? Marietta Jones: This is a Doc Taraz Labyrinth to her artifact that's related to the queen, I don't see why it would pop up underneath a handler's thing. The queen doesn't work with the handlers. Sampson Davis: She didn't build the Labyrinth. It [00:28:30] was there before. Marietta Jones: No, but neither did the handlers. Sampson Davis: Yeah. That's what I'm saying. No one that we know in this world built the Labyrinth. Marietta Jones: There's no data that we have that indicates that there's more than one entrance or exit to this Labyrinth. The only one that we're aware of is Doc Taraz's access to it. I don't know, was the city built on top of this? I don't know. Stace Babcock: So what do you need from us, Atalia? Do you need a distraction? What? Marietta Jones: I'm meeting Gma back there tomorrow and we're going to [00:29:00] infiltrate. I will probably sneak in and out alone, but I do need a distraction because as you can see, and she'll point to the various people dots on the map, yeah, there was someone on every fucking window. I do need a distraction. She's down to provide one, but she did suffer some injuries recently thanks to... Stace Babcock: Oh, I can be really distracting. Marietta Jones: Yeah, you can. Stace Babcock: Oh, ChaCha. This might be a good chance for you to try out your new show or whatever. Alex Finn: We need [00:29:30] to make it a plan about afterwards, so we need to finish the plan, not just go in, fuck shit up, and then dot, dot, dot. Sampson Davis: I agree with ChaCha. Stace Babcock: So then, we meet back here I guess. Marietta Jones: And you guys don't have to help me see this through. Sampson Davis: Why? Well, hold on. Why wouldn't we help you? Marietta Jones: We has a lot of loose ends to wrap up, and we just have in some ways with Dili's former child, [00:30:00] and we still have more, though. It's still the Knyxos, there's no way to make a plan when shit is literally hitting the fan from every side. We have to deal with this one. I need help with this. If you guys want to address the other aspects instead, I understand, but I have to break into there and get that item back. I cannot let the handlers and my mother have control of my life from henceforth. Stace Babcock: No, for sure, dude. But should we just meet up back here? You know what I'm saying? [00:30:30] Should we just have a rally point? Marietta Jones: Sure. Yeah. I presume it's here, though I think Merrick wants his safe house back, so I don't know. I also didn't really like Mamma Jerrun's response, man. I get she was in a meeting, but it's not like we knocked on the door on a whim. Sampson Davis: Yeah. I get the feeling that we need another... Wait, didn't Merrick say that we were supposed to have a supervisor or something at this point? Stace Babcock: Yeah. A guide or some shit. Alex Finn: Y'all are having this conversation in front of ChaCha? Stace Babcock: No. [00:31:00] No. Daniel Andrlik: Also, none of you guys got the chance to tell Mamma Jerrun what was going on. Stace Babcock: So yeah, ChaCha's- Marietta Jones: I think Atalia did to some extent, but I presume Gma has a plan. I have a place to meet up with her, but I needed more time to heal another day. Also, needs to be done quickly in general. Sampson Davis: Okay. So what if we do two teams, distraction team and infiltration team. [00:31:30] ChaCha can be distraction team, I can help with infiltrating. I can cast shadow illusions or whatever. Nix what do you think? Where do you think you'd fit best? Stace Babcock: Yeah. No. I think totally I would distract, especially after the Knyxos. I'm not the sneaky type, you know what I'm saying? But I'm highly visible. Sampson Davis: Okay. I can't disguise you both if we're on different teams, [00:32:00] if by the way that's what everyone is cool with. Stace Babcock: I mean, Dili, are you offering to go inside of another criminal headquarters? Is this what I'm hearing from you? Marietta Jones: Dili, I appreciate it. Are you sure? Sampson Davis: The handlers don't know my face, so that's at least a step up from where I've been in the last 28 hours, so yeah. Alex Finn: Are you sure? They had a contract for you Dili. Marietta Jones: I'm sure they do know your face. You're wanted. Stace Babcock: [crosstalk 00:32:26] It is literally everywhere, Dili. Marietta Jones: You're wanted [00:32:30] and also the handlers are up on who's wanted, I'm sure. Sampson Davis: Well, also I can disguise myself and you, Atalia, so that's not an issue. Also, again, illusions, I can help with stealthing. Daniel Andrlik: Oh, that's right. Dili's the only other one of you that has any training in stealth. Sampson Davis: That, too. Marietta Jones: Amazing. Sampson Davis: Also-also, there's probably going to be some crazy ass Numenera stuff, and I'm pretty good at breaking that shit. Marietta Jones: Cool. Sampson Davis: I'm literally trained in it. Marietta Jones: Yeah. I mean, if you are willing to risk [00:33:00] coming in with me, I will not say no to your help in that capacity. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. So you guys are going to go to the rendezvous point? Marietta Jones: We will after the allotted amount to heal and hopefully get our pools back. Sampson Davis: Four more recovery rolls, please? Daniel Andrlik: Well, I would say that you lucky ducks could go up to 10 hour recover rolls if you felt like it again. Because it's another day, essentially. So you guys reached the rendezvous point, [00:33:30] stealthily, because you're with Atalia, and Gma steps out of the shadows. She's limping slightly but otherwise looks fine. And she sees you guys and she sees ChaCha and Dili and is like, "ChaCha, Dili, nice to see you again. You handled yourself well the other night." She turns to Nix and says, "You did an impressive job as well." Alex Finn: And you ran away. Daniel Andrlik: I needed to get somewhere safe, somewhere only I know about. Alex Finn: Are you doing that again? Daniel Andrlik: I'll [00:34:00] do whatever's within my lines, ChaCha. Alex Finn: That's good to know on who I should trust right now. Daniel Andrlik: Only trust the people in your lines. That's up to you. Alex Finn: Well, I will nuke the city of you cross mine. Daniel Andrlik: Fair enough, ChaCha. So we need to get this item. Atalia, it's going to be best if you sneak in. As far as I can tell there are three windows around back. I'm not sure which one is the best. I'm sure it'll probably depend on when you try to go in. We're going to need some sort of distraction, [00:34:30] something to draw the guard's attention, so that you can slip in and the off chance that Salianna is here, let me handle distracting her. Marietta Jones: You got mom, copy. Daniel Andrlik: All right. She smiles at Dili again, and she says, "How are you feeling tonight, Dili?" Sampson Davis: Still a little sore. Daniel Andrlik: That's good. Some lessons need to stick around for a while. Shall we go? Marietta Jones: Yeah. You have Nix and ChaCha, if they're willing. [00:35:00] Dili is actually going to come with in case I need someone else on the inside. Daniel Andrlik: She raises an eyebrow at that and she says, "If you think it's wise, honey." Marietta Jones: He's proficient in illusion magic. He's sneakier than he looks. Daniel Andrlik: Meanwhile, Jeskey is busy sniffing Dili's left hand, happily. Sampson Davis: Can I insight Jeskey? Daniel Andrlik: She just seems excited. Like Atalia's endorsement, Jeskey seems to be trying to [00:35:30] co-sign the endorsement for you. Sampson Davis: Aww. I give her a little scratch underneath the chin and ear. Daniel Andrlik: Her crystals grow a bright lavender. Sampson Davis: No, not too bright, not too bright, sorry. Marietta Jones: Oh, she knows. We're okay here. Daniel Andrlik: So Gma looks at ChaCha and Nix and says, "Well, ladies, shall we?" Stace Babcock: Oh, yeah. Daniel Andrlik: We just need to distract the guards. So we need to make an obvious looking break in. Stace Babcock: Oh, I can do that, Gma. Yeah, I got you. You want me to kick [00:36:00] the door? Or what? Daniel Andrlik: Let's do the windows. We want to make sure that we draw them out slowly. We don't want to do a full frontal assault, we just want to bring them closer to our side of the building. So you guys approach the front of the house. What do you guys do? Gma's following your lead. Alex Finn: ChaCha lights the door on fire and walks away. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. Okay. Cool. Yeah. You don't even need to roll for that, just set the door on fire. [00:36:30] So fire begins going at the door. What is Nix doing? Stace Babcock: What's Gma doing? Daniel Andrlik: Gma is following your guy's lead. She's focused on looking for Salianna. Alex Finn: I would smash the windows to get a back draft going. It also gives the handler's a way to escape so they won't be burned alive. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. Stace Babcock: Nix will take out her sling and break a couple windows. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. Okay. Okay. So Atalia and Dili, you have moved your way around the back of the building. Marietta Jones: I think [00:37:00] I will look in the map and see which angle will bring us in closest to the missing part of the map. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. So you definitely identify a window that would lead you closest to the staircase there. You don't even need to roll for that because you have a perfect layout of it. And if you want to slip in, it will be a stealth of nine which will be a three for you and a six for Dili. Marietta Jones: Okay. I also help Dili in once I get in, hopefully. Ooh, 19. Daniel Andrlik: [00:37:30] Okay. So definitely with a 19 you can definitely use your minor effect to make sure Dili has that asset at the same time. So it's a three for Dili now, too. Sampson Davis: Is that with the stealth training? Daniel Andrlik: Yeah. That's with the stealth training. Sampson Davis: All right. We'll try out of three. 10. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. So you guys both slip in the window, no problem, and began working your way down the stairs. There's all sorts of commotion. You can hear people running towards the front of the building, [00:38:00] which you presume is the distraction, whatever that was supposed to be. So you guys make your way down the stairs and you can see there's this long hallway. There are two doors on your left, one door on your right, and over where you can see where in your scan would be the blank space beginning, there is a imposing door with some sort of [00:38:30] touch screen interface on it. Marietta Jones: Atalia will scan it before she enters the code, after looking around the room. Daniel Andrlik: Yes. So there's nobody else in the hallway right now. You guys could roll perception of 12 to see if you hear anybody else. Marietta Jones: I'm trained in listening and perception. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. So that's a nine for you. Sampson Davis: I'm going to put two levels of effort into that. Marietta Jones: Exactly nine. Sampson Davis: 12. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. So both of you can [00:39:00] tell that in the room on the right, there are definitely several people in there. Unclear how many, it's more than two, but probably less than five. Marietta Jones: Is it Numenera controlled door, is it just a normal door? Daniel Andrlik: So the perception was starting to tell you if there's anybody else down here since you were looking around. So your scan tells you that that door at the far side is a Numenera door, it is level four, and it appears to be controlled by that touch screen interface. Marietta Jones: [00:39:30] Okay. Could I Numenera it, using my superb infiltrator making devices work for me to shape the door, so that they can't open it and come in? Daniel Andrlik: Ooh. So the room that they're in. Marietta Jones: Yeah. Because. The access to the vault is in this room, right? Hypothetically speaking. Daniel Andrlik: Yeah. Yeah. Marietta Jones: So I just want to make it so the door is jammed so they can't get it open. Daniel Andrlik: Yeah. So let's do superb infiltrator for that. It's more of a normal sized door, but your superb infiltrator would work for this, [00:40:00] so let's make that a nine. Marietta Jones: I also have a level of effort for that as well. And I also specialized in understand Numenera. 11. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. You feel like you have jammed the door that if the people tried to come out, there would be some sort of challenge of getting through the door. Marietta Jones: Okay. So now I want to see if I can find the scanner and I will enter in the code. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. So you go over to the touchscreen [00:40:30] interface. It lights up when you first touch it, and you see a series of symbols on it. And because you have the code, because you are specialized in understanding Numenera, this is a gimme for you. Marietta Jones: Yay. Thank you. Daniel Andrlik: So you enter the code and the door slides open. It is apparently very heavy from what you can see, but it moves almost silently. Marietta Jones: That's convenient. I didn't expect it to be quiet. And I'll [00:41:00] scan around the door just to make sure that there's not some alarm that will go off if I walk in. Daniel Andrlik: There is no alarm, but sitting on a chair in the middle of the room is your mother. Marietta Jones: I'll look over at Dili and say, "Have you don't this before?" Sampson Davis: Yeah. Wait. This specific thing? I don't think so. Marietta Jones: And then I'm going to throw a flash in her face. Daniel Andrlik: Oh, okay. [00:41:30] So roll initiative for me. 19. Sampson Davis: 15. Marietta Jones: Apparently it really wants me to punch my mom in the face. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. So you are throwing a flash in her face. You have an entrance, you will go first. So a flash is two damage in an area, so it is going to be an 18 intellect to get her before she can react. Marietta Jones: Okay. I will spend two levels [00:42:00] of effort on that. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. Marietta Jones: I'm supposed to rest, oh my gosh. Another XP on that one. That's a 16. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. So 16. You send off a flash and she lifts her hand. She's definitely hurt by it. She's not fond of it. Next up it is her turn. She is going to reach into her pocket and [00:42:30] throw out what appears to be a Cypher, and it activates between you and her spreading out in a 20 foot square wall of force. Marietta Jones: Oh. I was hoping you were going to say smoke and I could use my eyesight for it. Daniel Andrlik: And she looks at you as she does that and says, "That's very rude." And now, it's Dili's turn. Sampson Davis: Oh, shit. Marietta Jones: Sorry. Sampson Davis: Oh. Oh. What's going to happen. [00:43:00] Dili will make it appear like another copy of Atalia walks up from behind real Atalia. Daniel Andrlik: Mm-hmm (affirmative). Okay. Cool. Marietta Jones: We do a little full dance. Which Atalia's the real Atalia, mom? Daniel Andrlik: So Nix, there are definitely guards coming towards the front windows and things like that. What would you like to do? Stace Babcock: Yeah. Fucking sling rock them, too. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. So that'll [00:43:30] be a 12 to hit. Stace Babcock: And I should flip them off. 14. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. So your sling [crosstalk 00:43:37] wreck does four damage. Stace Babcock: Oh, I meant just to break the windows, but if I can hit them, sick. All right. Daniel Andrlik: Yeah. Yeah, Nix, you can hit one of them, for sure. He does not like that. He covers his face after part of the sling rock hit it. Okay. And actually, ChaCha and Nix, roll initiative for me just so I know where you are in order of operations. Stace Babcock: 19, damn. Alex Finn: Six. Daniel Andrlik: Ow. Okay. Cool. ChaCha, there are also guards [00:44:00] coming at the window where you smashed. Alex Finn: Oh, ChaCha walked away from the building after she set the door on fire. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. You are at a short distance but you can see them come to the window, see what's happening, come to the door, see what's happening with the fire. So also, Stace and Alex, roll a perception roll of 12. Stace Babcock: Ooh, 14. Alex Finn: 10. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. So ChaCha doesn't see anything, probably because she's walking away from the building, but Nix [00:44:30] you see Gma slipping through one of the side windows into the building. Stace Babcock: Oh, Nix ain't going to say shit. Daniel Andrlik: Mm-hmm (affirmative). Okay. So we cut back down below, Atalia. Marietta Jones: Yeah. Yeah. I know how I'm handling this scenario. I thought it all through in that interlude. Daniel Andrlik: Mm-hmm (affirmative). So you flash your mother, she threw up a shield of force. She said, "That's very rude." You no have an illusory copy of yourself, it's your typical Thursday night. Marietta Jones: [00:45:00] Yeah. It's my turn? Daniel Andrlik: Mm-hmm (affirmative). Marietta Jones: Okay. So I have any idea where the thing I'm looking for is in this room? Daniel Andrlik: You don't. There are many shelves along the walls holding different items. Marietta Jones: I guess I'll just attack her, again. I just don't think I can find it quick enough or anything. I feel like we have to address her before I can find what I'm looking for. Daniel Andrlik: How would you like to attack her? Marietta Jones: [00:45:30] I will onslaught her this time. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. Physical or mental? Marietta Jones: Probably physical if my mental from the flash is any indicator. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. You do that and the physical onslaught hits that wall of force and dissipates. Marietta Jones: Oh. Interesting. Okay. Daniel Andrlik: And it's Salianna's turn, and she says, "I figured you'd come here. It's the first place I would have come." Marietta Jones: I didn't know you missed me so much. I [00:46:00] don't see you for years and I just see you twice in like three days, mom. Daniel Andrlik: I haven't given up hope yet, honey. Marietta Jones: That's sad, because I gave up hope literally a decade ago. Sampson Davis: Dili's behind Atalia like, "Oh, shit." Daniel Andrlik: That's unfortunate. Let me ask you a question though, do you believe in yourself? Do you believe in your own skills? You know what you can do without anybody, right? Marietta Jones: But what are you without anybody, mom? Daniel Andrlik: [00:46:30] I'm still Salianna Stone, whether I've got handlers working for me or not. You're Atalia Stone. Marietta Jones: Let me know how that works out for you in retirement. Daniel Andrlik: So now we cut to Nix. You are outside the building and you have hit one guard. There is another one trying to fill the space in the window, leveling a crossbow bolt at you, but he is not going to get to go yet. Stace Babcock: Yeah. And ChaCha's walking away, still? Daniel Andrlik: At least this round, yeah. Until it gets to ChaCha's turn. Stace Babcock: Okay. So we're like, "ChaCha, [00:47:00] where are you going?" Daniel Andrlik: Okay. So you say that. Are you going to do anything else with your turn, because you can yell that out as a free action? Stace Babcock: I mean, yeah. She's going to say this as she's slinging another rock. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. So that will be a 12 to hit. You're trained in medium range I believe, so that's a nine. Stace Babcock: I am. It don't work though, because I got a seven. Daniel Andrlik: You sling another rock and you miss somebody in the window. They manage to dodge out of the way. However, Nix, you notice one of the figures, one of the shadows at [00:47:30] the window that's coming up suddenly drops and you hear screaming from inside. Stace Babcock: Oh, yeah. Gma in the house. Nix will say that fairly loud. If ChaCha's close enough, she'll hear. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. And now it is Dili's turn. Sampson Davis: Would Atalia have... Atalia wouldn't even know what it looks like, would it? Okay then, Dili is going to look amongst the shelves, keying in on his Cypher knowledge, anything that looks like [00:48:00] it could fuck somebody up, damage dealing. Daniel Andrlik: Oh, that's just damage dealing? Sampson Davis: Maybe not damage dealing, but it's something useful. Daniel Andrlik: So you're looking for a weapon among the Cyphers. Marietta Jones: Literally anything helpful. Sampson Davis: Yes. Something better than a dagger, or a dart thrower, or a projector. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. Give me a six understanding Numenera roll. Sampson Davis: I am neutral on understanding Numenera. Three level of efforts. 12. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. There is a definitely a [00:48:30] wall that is filled with various types of explosives. Sampson Davis: Dope. I'm going to jog over there, then. Daniel Andrlik: Yeah. So it'd be a short distance over to that wall, so you can spend your turn going to collect explosives. Sampson Davis: I'd like to do that. Daniel Andrlik: ChaCha. Alex Finn: What do you want me to do, Nix? Gma's already said that we're not as important as Atalia. Stace Babcock: I mean, I think that's legit. Atalia's her granddaughter, you know what I'm saying? That's legit. But Atalia's important to me, and probably to you, I guess. I don't know, ChaCha. But [00:49:00] I don't look at this as helping Gma, I look at this as helping Atalia. Alex Finn: Yeah. But I don't want to go in to help somebody and then almost die because they don't want to help me. That's what happened last time. Stace Babcock: Oh, yeah. No. We're not going in. Alex Finn: So I'm going to step back and let Gma take care of this. Stace Babcock: ChaCha. You stood in the doorway, ChaCha. Alex Finn: I tried to get Gma healed, so she could help you escape, too, but she refused. Stace Babcock: Oh, yeah. But I don't think Gma owes me nothing, [00:49:30] ChaCha. I'll be honest. I appreciate that, but we're not going in now. We're just going to keep distracting from out here, I'm going just going to keep shooting the windows, and if it gets too hot, we'll run, all right? Alex Finn: But how are we going to help Dili if we keep making the fire bigger? They have to get out. Stace Babcock: I mean, if it's on fire they'll leave, ChaCha. Daniel Andrlik: The door is on fire. Alex Finn: If we keep breaking the windows, the fire will get bigger and I don't know where they are in the building. So if we cut off all their routes of escape with a bigger [00:50:00] fire, how are they escaping? Stace Babcock: Is that your plan, ChaCha? Alex Finn: No. I don't want them to burn to death. Stace Babcock: So do you want to put out the fire? Alex Finn: Let the people who are coming out the windows deal with the fire. And when they come out the windows to deal with the fire, that's when we get them from a safer distance. Stace Babcock: Oh, yeah. I'm down with that. Alex Finn: Being too close isn't a good idea. Daniel Andrlik: Yeah. And that is definitely what's happening right now, is that people are trying to come either aiming at you guys from outside the window, [00:50:30] or some of them are trying to come out through the windows. Presumably there's also others that are probably inside actually trying to fight the fire, and then there's more screams from inside, presumably from Gma's entry. So then, we cut back downstairs. Atalia, you've been having this heartwarming conversation with your mother. Marietta Jones: Oh, every time we talk it's just sunshine and daises. Daniel Andrlik: It's just like old times. It's just like being a kiddo again. You hear screams coming from behind you upstairs. Marietta Jones: [00:51:00] Oh, are we going to have a whole family reunion? Daniel Andrlik: Salianna flicks her gaze back towards the stairway behind you and she says, "Brought your grandmother?" Marietta Jones: Oh, I didn't bring her. Gma came up all on her own. She did always have to clean up your messes after all. Sampson Davis: Off to the side, "Ooh." Daniel Andrlik: Salianna pauses for a second and says, "That's fair. You have every right to be angry, honey." Marietta Jones: [00:51:30] Let me go, mom. I don't want to be a handler, I don't want to be here. You have your own legacy, and you'll always be yourself. You don't need anyone else, you don't need me. Let me go. Daniel Andrlik: Give me a social roll. It's 18 to start, you're her daughter so it's a 15. Marietta Jones: Can I spend more of my pools? 18. That's not what I expected. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. So she pauses for a moment and [00:52:00] she looks at you, and she looks at Jeskey, and she looks back up at you again, and then she walks across the room and picks up a small object, and starts walking towards you. And it is at this point a dagger comes flying out from behind you and slams right into your mother's shoulder. And you hear Gma's voice behind you saying, "Careful dear, you don't know [00:52:30] what that is." Marietta Jones: She's saying that to me or my mom? Daniel Andrlik: To you. Marietta Jones: Yeah. Well, I'm still not convinced I can take her in a one-on-one fight. Daniel Andrlik: You can't. But that's okay. You're still learning. And she steps forward and your mom is standing there for a moment just groaning, and she tosses the object at you and says, "This is what you're looking for." Marietta Jones: I'll catch it, and I'll scan it. Daniel Andrlik: It is most definitely [00:53:00] a control module of the type that you are looking for. There is definitely a mode of pausing and deleting, and also for early activation. Marietta Jones: I will try to delete it. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. So give me an understanding Numenera roll of 12. You're specialized so it's a six. Marietta Jones: Seven. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. So you press this key code that you seem to intuit from it, and it flashes for a moment, and then indicates [00:53:30] that it has completed its task. Marietta Jones: Thanks, mom. I can confidently say that this is the nicest thing you've ever done for me. And I'll drop the controller and stomp on it as hard as I can. Daniel Andrlik: So you go and you smash that controller. Marietta Jones: And then I'll turn and leave. Daniel Andrlik: Yeah. She'll look over at Dili and say- Sampson Davis: Armful of grenades like [crosstalk 00:53:54] this took a different direction. Marietta Jones: No, I think you can keep those Dili. I think those are for you [00:54:00] now. Sampson Davis: No, I'm just going to put a lot of these back. Marietta Jones: No, I think those are yours. Sampson Davis: I wink at Atalia, and I genuinely will try to pocket two of them. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. So yeah you can pocket two of them. That's no problem. Even if Salianna notices, she's not going to stop you. And as you're walking towards the door, you hear your mother's voice behind you that just says, "Make me proud," as [00:54:30] Gma leads you up the stairs. Marietta Jones: So I'll turn back and say to my mom, "It'll only be through whispers, bummer, huh?" And she'll leave. "Thanks for going with me, Dili." Daniel Andrlik: So Gma leads you guys upstairs. Nix and ChaCha, these guards are at a fever pitch, well, a few that are left, and I would say give me a perception roll of six. Stace Babcock: Ooh, 17. Alex Finn: Nat 20. Daniel Andrlik: Ooh. Okay. You guys definitely notice Atalia, Dili, and Gma, [00:55:00] leaving the building and moving to one of the nearby side alleys to apparently wait. What would you propose is a major effect for the nat 20? Alex Finn: ChaCha can see if the fire is going to keep going. Daniel Andrlik: The fire is going to keep going. There are also a number of guards dead or wounded, so the fire's getting to a point where they really need to deal with it. Alex Finn: This is why I said don't break anymore windows, Nix. [00:55:30] We might want to not come back to this area for a little while. I hope nobody lives in this neighborhood, really. Marietta Jones: Not anymore. Stace Babcock: Oh, yeah. All right, ChaCha. I won't break anymore windows. I think we might be done, actually. Alex Finn: Yeah. They went over in that alley. Stace Babcock: Ready to bounce? Alex Finn: I guess. Stace Babcock: Want a ride? Alex Finn: Yeah. It would make me feel better. Stace Babcock: All right. Is ChaCha going to want the shoulders, or on the shoulders? Alex Finn: [00:56:00] She's going Yoda backpack. Stace Babcock: Yoda backpack. All right. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. So you guys meet up with the others in the alley. Sampson Davis: Oh, shit, you guys. That was fucking rad. You should have been there. Also, I stole two explosives. I don't know what they do yet, but- Stace Babcock: Can I have one? Marietta Jones: I'm so glad you took those. You should have taken more, but that's wonderful. Sampson Davis: Right? I got away with more than I thought. Alex Finn: There were explosives in that building? Maybe we should move further away. Stace Babcock: Oh, [00:56:30] shit. Sampson Davis: [crosstalk 00:56:31] There's a fire. What'd you guys do? Alex Finn: I lit the door on fire and that building's going down. Sampson Davis: Oh, fuck. Daniel Andrlik: Yeah, Dili. This mental calculus is very quick for you, as far as the explosive side. You've got some time because the stuff is in a vault down below, but probably not great to hang out here. Sampson Davis: We should get out of the Ward, actually. Marietta Jones: That's an idea. Stace Babcock: Yeah. Are we going [00:57:00] back to the Doc Taraz place? Yeah. We got to find a better name for that, you guys. Sampson Davis: Yeah. Marietta Jones: The safe house that's not blown. Sampson Davis: We need a clubhouse. Stace Babcock: The safe house that's not blown. Alex Finn: That's where we torture people and have awkward conversations. Marietta Jones: Yes. Sampson Davis: That could be anyplace. Stace Babcock: Yep. Daniel Andrlik: So that's where you guys are headed? Marietta Jones: Yeah. Atalia's nervously looking at Gma and back to them. And partway on the way there she'll stop and she'll say, "Wait, [00:57:30] I can't go with you guys." And I'll hand the reset Cypher and a letter to Nix. And I'll say, "I'm really sorry, but I do need to go now. I know that's not what we wanted, but I can't keep doing this over and over again. I am just breaking up, just me, and you all are a great group, and you showed me so much. You helped me nail that scenario and I really, really appreciate it. But I can't. Yeah. I'm going to go. Yeah. But that should [00:58:00] explain everything. You guys will do so good, so good." Stace Babcock: Well, first Atalia, I can't believe you finally wrote me back. But also, what are you going to do instead, dude? What are you going to get up to? Marietta Jones: I don't know. I guess you'll just have to wait and find out. Maybe I'll get a letter from you some time. Stace Babcock: Oh, yeah. I'll write, but I'm going to miss you. Nix hugs her. Marietta Jones: Atalia will hug her back and she'll say, [00:58:30] "Dili, you're going to be so great. And ChaCha, you're already so strong. You guys will be so good. I can't do it anymore. I'm sorry." I'll move slowly backward with Jeskey and try to duck out around a corner. She will go try to find Gma. Daniel Andrlik: Gma isn't far. She wasn't out of sight, but she was definitely trying to give you privacy. Marietta Jones: Are you coming with me, or am I just starting my whole new life [00:59:00] on my own? I'll hold out the Cypher, the other half, for her to hold. Daniel Andrlik: I still have things to do here, honey. Marietta Jones: Okay. I'm sure you'll find me. I have no doubt. Daniel Andrlik: I always do. Marietta Jones: Atalia will- Daniel Andrlik: I'll come as soon as I can. Marietta Jones: Okay. Atalia will kneel down, and put her arm around Jeskey, and activate the Cypher. Daniel Andrlik: So you activate the Cypher, and you guys aren't completely out of eyeshot of the others. They can see Atalia go [00:59:30] over, talk to Grandma, lean down, put her arm around Jeskey, and activate a Cipher, and there is a weird twisting. It's not a flash. It's almost like a blob in your vision, like a bruise. And Atalia and Jeskey are gone, and it's just Gma at the end of that alley. And Nix, Dili, ChaCha, what do you do? Stace Babcock: Nix will raise her voice so Gma can hear it and [01:00:00] she'll say, "If she ever needs me, find me." Daniel Andrlik: Gma smiles and starts walking away in the alleys. Stace Babcock: Nix will tuck the letter away and put the Cypher in her pocket, and she'll look at ChaCha and Dili and say, "One of you gets to explain this to Mamma Jerrun." Daniel Andrlik: And with that, we cut to a different landscape than we've ever seen before. Here we see a city [01:00:30] with synth buildings that look like bamboo shoots pushing themselves out of the ground and forming strange shapes and curvature. They form odd, interconnected linings. There are strange creatures running the streets that everybody seems to be treating as normal. The fashions are completely different than Charmonde, and the only thing that's recognizable about this [01:01:00] area is that at the far end there is a small building with the etched logo of the Order of Truth, like a missionary building. Daniel Andrlik: And there are strange hills and forests all around when a purple bruise in the air forms inside of this open air structure, [01:01:30] and Atalia and Jeskey appear. And you're in this small covered area. It's like the front porch of a building, of a home or something like that, although it's very different to you guys. And you can see that carved on a piece of wood on the front of the building, a name, and it just says A. Stone. Marietta Jones: Hey, Jeskey. That could [01:02:00] be my name. Daniel Andrlik: Jeskey just goes woof. Marietta Jones: And I go inside. Daniel Andrlik: And you go inside. And that's where we'll end this episode, and that is a wrap for Atalia Stone. Marietta Jones: Yeah, guys. Atalia's on to her next journey. Daniel Andrlik: That was a lot. Marietta Jones: A lot. Daniel, [crosstalk 01:02:21] what was your favorite part about this session? Daniel Andrlik: Ooh. That's good. There were two things that [01:02:30] I really loved. I loved the touch of giving Nix a letter. I liked that a lot. It's killing me now that I have to wait to know what's in the letter. Marietta Jones: I'm so sorry. I'll probably write it immediately after this. I know everything I want to say, it's just a matter of writing it. Daniel Andrlik: Yeah. Yeah. I'm very excited about that. I also really liked how Atalia still got the last word in with her mom. I love the [01:03:00] fact that Atalia's mom has done terrible things, and she's trying to make up for it in her own broken way, but Atalia didn't just roll over and accept that because of the things that happened to her as a result of that were real. Marietta Jones: Yeah. Mom needs some social skills, man. She's got the murder skills, but not the [inaudible 01:03:22]. It's like Atalia inherited that or something. Hi, I'd really like to talk to you about all this, but instead I'm going to abruptly leave and leave you a letter. Love, Atalia. Daniel Andrlik: [01:03:30] It's almost like the whole Stone family has done that for generations. Marietta Jones: Yeah. Daniel Andrlik: In some way, shape, or form. So I quite liked that. But yes for our listener, this is a wrap on Atalia Stone because Marietta is sadly leaving the podcast. Marietta Jones: Yes. I am departing, unfortunately. I've had so many wonderful experiences with the podcast, but I have other things in my future. I love the story that we've created, so [01:04:00] I'm glad I got to play Atalia. She's been a joy, for sure. Daniel Andrlik: Yeah. And while we're really sad to have you leaving the podcast, we are deeply grateful to have you in our lives. Stace Babcock: Yeah. You're certainly not getting rid of me, like a barnacle. Marietta Jones: Well, I hope not. Daniel Andrlik: Listeners, please stay tuned at the end of this episode, because we will have a highlight clip of Atalia's greatest moments from the campaign so far. Marietta Jones: What is Atalia's greatest [01:04:30] hits? What is it? Stace Babcock: You got some sharp one liners, though. She does. Daniel Andrlik: Yes. Stace Babcock: Sometimes, Marietta, the way you improvise that, I was like, "Damn." Writing it down for use in real life. My mom's like, [crosstalk 01:04:48] "What are you talking about?" Marietta Jones: [crosstalk 01:04:51] You know that girl I bring around sometimes? Daniel Andrlik: So we have a segment that we do each week called player intrusions. It is only fitting [01:05:00] that tonight's player intrusion comes from Marietta. So Marietta, what would you offer our listeners in XP to check out. Marietta Jones: A board game called Mysterium Park. It's by the guys who did Mysterium if any of you all played that which I have not. It was literally a let's look through everything that was popular in 2020 for gifts for Christmas. And this was one of the ones that I heard about, and it's really good to play. It's less than a half-hour, [01:05:30] but it's a circus. It's a park. You and your friends are mediums and someone has died. So I guess you guys are all psychics. And so there's one person that plays the ghost, and they give you cards with pictures to help you figure out which of the people on this board was the potential murderer. Marietta Jones: And so, each person has one card that they're supposed to guess, and each of the cards that they give you are different pictures that have various different [01:06:00] things in them, and they're really abstract. But each of the character cards has specific details on it, so sometimes they'll overlap, but they'll give you these pictures, basically, and you're supposed to figure out which of these pictures of people that they're trying to point you towards. And it's really convoluted and it's really like who is your ghost? Who are they as a person? Are they just going to give me a bunch of colors that match it, are they looking for items, are they going for a mood? And it helps if there's alcohol involved, but there's no [01:06:30] strategy. Marietta Jones: It's really just here's these cards, which one do I mean without communicating. So there's one round to figure out who the person was, and there's one round to figure out where in the park it happens, and then from those two rounds, if you succeed, because if you keep messing up and guessing the wrong people you will fail and then you'll ruin the game. But if you get through those two rounds and don't fail enough then you'll have three choices of three different people and three different locations. And one of [01:07:00] those three sets, pairs, is the murderer. And so, then there's a final round where they give you all clues. Marietta Jones: So you're all collectively trying to guess together and figure it out, too. It's not like it's competitive or anything. So they give you all the clues, and then you have to guess out of those three groups which one did it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. There's a lot of yelling, a lot of frustration. Especially if you have a ghost that's very artsy. But it's pretty cheap, I think it was like [01:07:30] 25 bucks, 30 at the most. But it's really quick, it's good. It's easy to pick up on, it's not a bunch of rules or anything. Daniel Andrlik: Mm-hmm (affirmative). Yeah. I mean, it sounds very similar to when I've played Mysterium, so it might even be the same [crosstalk 01:07:47] with different- Marietta Jones: Yeah. I mean, it's definitely the same people, but I've enjoyed it. And it's also when everyone's like, "Oh, we don't really want to do a whole Catan," it's like, "Okay, well, we can do Mysterium." So really fills [01:08:00] that. Check out Mysterium Park. Daniel Andrlik: Awesome. Well, one last time, Marietta, if people wanted to tell us about Mysterium Park, or what they think about the podcast, how would they do that? Marietta Jones: They would go to explorerswanted.fm, our website, and they would see that there's links to all of our social media on there. So on Twitter we are @ExplorersWanted, on Instagram, we are @ExplorersWantedPodcast, and our Facebook is Explorer's Wanted, a Numenera podcast. And on all of our social medias and our website there are links [01:08:30] to our discord, which is where you can come, hang out with us, and chat in our channels, and see how we're doing, and communicate, and be a part of our community, which is a big dream. And then if you're looking for another way to support us, the best way to do so financially if it's within your means is to support us on Patreon. That helps us hit our financial goals, and also we have dreams there that we would like to achieve. Make sure you visit our website, explorerswanted.fm. Daniel Andrlik: Mm-hmm (affirmative). And if you like the podcast, the best thing that you can do for us is to tell a friend. [01:09:00] Tell them why you like the show and why they should listen to it. The second best thing you could do is to write us a five star review on a podcast directory, specifically Apple podcast, Stitcher, or Podchaser. Those five star written reviews make a huge difference in people trying the show out. If you didn't like the podcast or if you just felt it was meh, well, let me ask you a question. Have you ever seen the tall man? You'd know him if you saw him. Daniel Andrlik: He's about 6'6", with short cropped black hair, and pale blue [01:09:30] eyes. Oh, and his nose is also very thin and angular, like if Ikea tried to make a rudder. There's no mouth underneath it, just his stretched gray skin, like an overcast autumn sky. His arms are too long, stretching almost to his knees, and each of his fingers ends in razors. If you haven't seen him before, you will soon. He's making his rounds and he never misses an appointment. If you want to reach out to us individually on social media, you can. You can find me [01:10:00] on Twitter @Andrlik, A-N-D-R-L-I-K. Stace Babcock: You can find me on Twitter @StaceWindu. Sampson Davis: You can find me @SlamPotato. Alex Finn: You can tell why my son is just demanding the Triscuts at @teawithaunicorn on Twitch or @realteaunicorn on Twitter. Marietta Jones: And let's be real, I'm just really an Instagram girl, I'm @imonahike. I tried with the Twitter, but... Daniel Andrlik: So that's it for us. Hope you enjoyed the show. We'll be back next week as we will for [01:10:30] every week in the foreseeable future. Thank you so much to Marietta for an amazing performance, an amazing character, over this campaign, and like I said, stay tuned afterwards for a series of Atalia's greatest moments. But otherwise, I'll say have a good night, day, weekend, or whenever you're listening to this, and [crosstalk 01:10:55] bye. Daniel Andrlik: [01:11:00] Atalia, who does she see there? Marietta Jones: [01:11:30] Atalia's there. She's in the dark, I would say mostly linens and wraps head to toe, black boots, and a nice cape, definitely looking to blend in with the shadows as much as possible. Her attire is fairly worn. She's 5'6", she's pretty tanned, has yellow eyes, and reddish brown hair. So as I'm backing out to the door, I'm going to toss the food towards the door that the guy would potentially come into the office through, you know what I mean? And I'm going to shut the door if that happens, and [01:12:00] then I'm going to try to escape. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. So because you have the unwelcome child card in effect, yes, you definitely toss the ration. It lands next to the door. But the [sesky 01:12:17] follows you out the door as you're shutting it. And it looks up to you with these happy eyes and wags its tail. [01:12:30] Nix, well done. Come in, have a seat. There is tea ready. And Nix, as you head over to the table, you spy on the far side of the table, Atalia. Stace Babcock: Atalia what? Hey. How are you? Marietta Jones: [crosstalk 01:12:46] is extremely uncomfortable. Just working. Working. Yeah. Working. Stace Babcock: [crosstalk 01:12:53] It's been like what, eight years? Marietta Jones: Yeah. Something like that. Yeah. How's [01:13:00] it been? Stace Babcock: Pretty rad, man. I've just been walking around a lot. Marietta Jones: Yeah. Walking around a lot, that sounds like a thing you would do. Stace Babcock: Yeah. What about you? What have you been doing? Marietta Jones: Just going to school, getting that education and [inaudible 01:13:20] per usual. Stace Babcock: Oh, yeah. I went to school, too. I forgot about that. Marietta Jones: What? Stace Babcock: Then I started walking. Marietta Jones: Oh, did [01:13:30] you? That kind of school experience, was it? Stace Babcock: Yeah. Well, no. Daniel Andrlik: So Atalia, could you do me a favor? Could you make a deception based roll about the going to school part. Stace Babcock: Fucking liar. Marietta Jones: I'll scan it. Stace Babcock: And check out this patch, man. And this code shit. Marietta Jones: Would I recognize any of this? Daniel Andrlik: Atalia, the patch you recognize as a symbol for the handlers that you worked for. [01:14:00] And that's where we're going to end the episode. Marietta Jones: Bum, bum. Daniel Andrlik: Bum, bum, bum. Marietta Jones: Bum, bum, bum. Stace Babcock: Wow. Marietta Jones: Me, work for bad guys? Never. Stace Babcock: Marietta, tell me what's going on. Marietta Jones: I don't know. Sampson Davis: Tell us your whole backstory. Go. Marietta Jones: Well. Stace Babcock: Tell me now. Marietta Jones: I had a happy childhood. Stace Babcock: I mean, I'll watch your sesky, but I'm also going to name your sesky. Marietta Jones: Please, [01:14:30] do. She needs a name. What do you want your name to be? Or what is your name? What's your name, girl? Daniel Andrlik: The sesky happily prances around and looks at you expectantly. Marietta Jones: Is it Sesky? No. I tried. Daniel Andrlik: It gives you this look like are you fucking serious. Sampson Davis: She's not a Pokémon, she's a sesky. Daniel Andrlik: So this is me putting you on the spot, Marietta. You are going to have to pick the name. I'm going to tell you this for sure. The sesky is not going [01:15:00] to accept a name from anyone but you. Marietta Jones: All right, Jeskey, you stay here. You be a good girl, a good sesky named Jeskey. Ooh, can I scan it? Daniel Andrlik: You can. Marietta Jones: I'm going to scan it. Daniel Andrlik: So yeah. You manage to cushion your fall, so you'll actually only take two points of damage. Marietta Jones: Okay. Cool. Daniel Andrlik: And so, you are on the stage. There are guards that are now alert. People are starting to freak out. [Tamara 01:15:29] looks right [01:15:30] at you and meets your eyes. Marietta Jones: I grab the item. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. Marietta Jones: I'm supposed to fold my face mask up beforehand, because obviously that would hide me, but I'm sure it's fine. Daniel Andrlik: Mamma Jerrun definitely knows exactly what you're talking about, and she is definitely lying about not knowing details about it. Marietta Jones: Lady, I do not understand you. You say one thing, and you mean a different thing. Daniel Andrlik: I have been told that's part of my charm. Marietta Jones: I've known [01:16:00] way too many people like you, and it just screams [crosstalk 01:16:04] issue. Daniel Andrlik: [crosstalk 01:16:04] Would you like a scone? Marietta Jones: No. You're just as bad as the handlers. Just lying to me. Daniel Andrlik: So Mamma Jerrun goes very still. Nix, you notice Merrick tenses up. And not in the way like he wants to do something, as in he looks like he's afraid of what happens next. And Mamma Jerrun looks at Atalia, takes a step towards her, [01:16:30] stops, looks at Nix, and Nix, the look in her eyes is like the most stern reprimand you've ever seen from when you were training at the monastery. It is telling you don't you fucking dare try to interfere with this. Daniel Andrlik: [crosstalk 01:16:54] And she steps up to Atalia, she gets up reasonably close, not [01:17:00] really looming over you, but closer than comfort, and she says to Atalia, "I would think very carefully about who you accuse of being dishonest or inappropriate or associated with that Order, Atalia Stone. I know you, and I know your family's history. Don't you dare try to cast aspersions at me. I'm [01:17:30] offering you a chance to make some money, get the things that you say you want so dearly, but haven't pursued in any way since you've started. Don't you dare make the mistake at assuming that I'm just an old lady to push around." And Merrick takes a step forward like, "I think we can calm down." Daniel Andrlik: And she looks at Merrick briefly, and he freezes and takes a step back, and she turns back to Atalia and says, "I [01:18:00] like your spirit. You're good in a pinch. But I feel like you guys now should have figured out I know exactly what happened on this job. Watch your ass." And then she takes a step back and she says, "Does anybody else have any questions for me with the time being, or does anybody else need some [01:18:30] tea, or scones? Or does anybody in particular have questions about the assignment that are not focused around insulting my integrity when I have been," she takes a deep breath, "exceptionally fucking patient with all of you." Stace Babcock: I would love a scone, Mamma J, and some of that tea. That sounds wonderful. Daniel Andrlik: Excellent. There are some chocolate chip on the table. [01:19:00] The tea is jasmine. Marietta Jones: Atalia is definitely just still standing there seething and just aggressively petting Jeskey's head, just like maybe I could kill him. Maybe I could just do it right here and it would be fine. Daniel Andrlik: Jeskey looks up at you and it's like Jeskey can tell what you're thinking, and Jeskey looks at you with very worried eyes and whines a little bit. Marietta Jones: Fucking fine. And then Atalia [01:19:30] will walk over, viscously grab a scone, and throw it to Jeskey. All right, I'm going to scan the cell for... This is so much better than just going for it. Alex Finn: But they're stuck there forever doing the same thing over and over. Stace Babcock: Oh, do you think they're alive? Alex Finn: Yeah. They're the same level as the horrors. Stace Babcock: Oh, shit. Atalia, what do you think of these echos? Do you think they're still alive? Marietta Jones: Would [01:20:00] they be Numenera based at all? Daniel Andrlik: It would be. Marietta Jones: Can I make an understanding Numenera roll to try to comprehend what's going on with these shades? Daniel Andrlik: Sure. Your target is a 27. Marietta Jones: Not a clue, man. Not a clue, my dude. It's pretty spooky though. It does seem like it might be Numenera, but that's way above [crosstalk 01:20:26] my pay grade. Stace Babcock: Do you have a book of Numenera, and can you spend two levels of effort [01:20:30] to get that below a... Marietta Jones: I do have a book of understanding Numenera, I could spend two levels of effort. Alex Finn: Yeah. And ChaCha's a nano. Daniel Andrlik: And the [crosstalk 01:20:40] gaming award for this session goes to Stace. Marietta Jones: What is that? What would it be if it was three levels lower? Daniel Andrlik: If it was three levels lower, it'd bring it to an 18. Marietta Jones: Why not? Stace Babcock: Maybe ChaCha could help, she's a nano. I don't know. Marietta Jones: I have three assets. Daniel Andrlik: Actually, could Dili help? Oh, no. You have three assets, nevermind. Stace Babcock: No, you're expending [01:21:00] two levels of effort, that's different than having an asset. Marietta Jones: And the understanding Numenera. Is it? Stace Babcock: That's one asset. Daniel Andrlik: So that brings it then to an 18. If you're going to use the book, that's another asset. You can have a max of two assets. So that'd bring it down to a 15. Marietta Jones: Which is what I just rolled? Daniel Andrlik: Really. Marietta Jones: Yes. That is exactly what I rolled. I said it earlier in the audio. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. So you spent four points of intellect, right? Marietta Jones: [01:21:30] Yeah. Guys, I'm going to need a nap. Daniel Andrlik: Yeah. Sorry, five points intellect. Five points intellect. Marietta Jones: Yeah. I hope we're not fighting anything. Daniel Andrlik: They're definitely Numenera based. They are definitely repeating echos of what they were. The things that they represent an echo of are not the same things as what they are. However, I will give you this. These echos, for the short moment that they exist, [01:22:00] are fully conscious, autonomous copies, of whatever they were. And because they have the same memories, the same understanding of the world, they repeat the same choices over and over again. And then, they fade away until it's time for them to come back and they're instantiated again at that same point with the same knowledge. And from their perspective, the same circumstances, [01:22:30] and they make the same choices again, and again, and again. Marietta Jones: I'll say that really quietly while she stares at them, but unfocused staring. She'll say it quietly, "That's what it is." Sampson Davis: Wow. [inaudible 01:22:50] this. Look at our existential crises. Fuck. Alex Finn: As a player, I was hoping I was wrong with that statement. I was just going off what ChaCha believes [01:23:00] is happening, but I didn't want to be right. Daniel Andrlik: Atalia, it occurs to you that this is a pretty significant consideration, because it means that species of many worlds all suffer from the same thing, that given the same memories and the same circumstances, they would always make the same choice regardless of the consequences. Marietta Jones: That's fucked up. So it is fate. It's fate. I think this proves that it's fate. I need to write a whole dissertation on this. [01:23:30] Maybe I could get a scholarship and go to school. Oh my gosh. Do you think- Stace Babcock: No. This isn't fate, this is Numenera. Marietta Jones: I'm taking the dice that has saved me on more than one occasion. I'm going to roll that and we'll see. Alex Finn: If it's a one, I'm going to pee myself. Marietta Jones: That's an 11. Daniel Andrlik: Oh, man. Okay. Stace Babcock: Oh, Sampson. When will you learn? Sampson Davis: Never, apparently. Marietta Jones: Thank you for trying [01:24:00] Sampson, I appreciate it. Daniel Andrlik: Marietta, please make a light defense roll of 15. Marietta Jones: Eight. Daniel Andrlik: So [Stanis 01:24:10], she reaches up with her legs and flips you over onto your back, and is now on top of you with a knife to your throat and holding your head against the rock. Sampson Davis: Hell yeah. I mean, oh no. Marietta Jones: Atalia is into it. Alex Finn: Yeah. I was like that [01:24:30] sounds nice. Marietta Jones: That's not what she says, to be clear. Stace Babcock: Atalia has [crosstalk 01:24:36] an asset. All right. I have an idea. Okay? This is what we're going to do. We're going to find some slime, we're going to smear it all over ourselves so when those metal arms try to grab us, they can't get a grip. We just shoot out. Daniel Andrlik: Just before you stand on the lift, you're each going to take a dunk in a bath of KY. Alex Finn: [01:25:00] Just lubing up. Sampson Davis: Yeah. Okay. As a player, I'm super into this, but I don't know if Dili would be super psyched. Marietta Jones: [crosstalk 01:25:11] We're covering ourselves in slime? Can I just wear all black like I'm already wearing, pull up my face mask? Does it have to be slime? Stace Babcock: I mean slime is one idea. I think we should no matter what do the slime because what's it going to hurt? Marietta Jones: My pride. Stace Babcock: No, I bet you would look good in slime, Atalia. Marietta Jones: Atalia just [01:25:30] jumps in the slime, rolls all around. Stace Babcock: I love that there's no question that there's available slime. Marietta Jones: Okay. So I'll tell them that. Daniel Andrlik: Give me a perception roll by the way, of nine. Marietta Jones: Which I'm trained in. Daniel Andrlik: So you're trained, so it's a six. Marietta Jones: That's a six. Alex Finn: Yay. Daniel Andrlik: Okay. Just beyond the door you see what appears to be a box that matches the description of [01:26:00] the box Stanis told you. It's not in the same room, it is beyond the door in the following chamber at the edge of your vision. Marietta Jones: Okay, my dudes. I also see the box. Stanis, I see your box. It's in that room that the door's open to. Stace Babcock: [crosstalk 01:26:16] Stanis, put some pants on. Marietta Jones: What? What's that? Stace Babcock: I'm sorry. I'm a bad person. Sorry. Marietta Jones: What? Stace Babcock: You saw Stanis' box. Marietta Jones: As Nix is leaving, [01:26:30] Atalia will scan the shiny wall. It hasn't been used? Daniel Andrlik: Yeah. Physically it's like nothing that you did there happened. Marietta Jones: So real, whatever that was. I thought I was just teleported? What happened to your mom? But I felt like I was falling and then I was in a misty field, and so I used this unused Cypher to move the mist away so I could see where I was, and it was marshy field, and there's all these decaying [01:27:00] rotting corpses of various different species in there, and this hand came up from the ground and grabbed my ankle, and so I onslaughted it. Marietta Jones: And then all of the corpses started screaming, but they're dead so it's was a gasping scream and it was really fucking creepy. And someone tapped me on the shoulder, and I turned around, it was this spooky lady, maybe 50 or so, I don't know, but she was like, "This gate isn't open to you." And then she booped me and I was back here. Sorry, I thought I had to say it all, or maybe [01:27:30] it wasn't real. But maybe it was real. But that's what my experience was. Stace Babcock: Nah, you definitely had a teleportation attack, dude. Marietta Jones: There's also this, and I hand her the note. Daniel Andrlik: She looks at the note and she says, "Aww. This is interesting. I was pretty convinced that your mother was in [Chalmas 01:27:53] right now." Marietta Jones: Yeah. That's what a water demon told me before it tried to kill me. Marietta Jones: I'll turn back and say to my mom, "It'll only be through whispers. Bummer, huh?" Then she'll leave. Marietta Jones: And I go inside.
