Daniel [GM] (00:00:30): Welcome to Explorers Wanted. We are a weekly Numenera Actual Play podcast. I will be your humble GM, Daniel Andrlik. With me today is Alex Finn. Alex [ChaCha] (00:00:42): Well hello's. Daniel [GM] (00:00:44): Stace Babcock. Stace [Nix] (00:00:45): Hi, I'm here. Daniel [GM] (00:00:46): Sampson Davis. Sampson [Dili] (00:00:48): Guys, Blasphemous is so good. Daniel [GM] (00:00:51): And Marietta Jones. Marietta [Atalia] (00:00:54): Hello. Daniel [GM] (00:00:55): So who remembers what happened last time? This time I am going to pick on Marietta. Marietta [Atalia] (00:01:01): Guess what? I didn't have my notebook, but I took some notes. Okay, so last week on Explorers Wanted, Atalia didn't scan a single thing. Alex [ChaCha] (00:01:15): Yeah. Alex [ChaCha] (00:01:20): Sorry. I thought that's what the response was you wanted. Marietta [Atalia] (00:01:26): Anyway, after scanning everything, we had control of the ship and we were heading to Charmonde after Nix had that vision of her mother being like, "They're at the door, ah!", and then she disappeared. Stace [Nix] (00:01:39): I don't think it was a vision, Nix's mom was there. Marietta [Atalia] (00:01:42): Yeah. Her little weird teleportation thing happened. We were like, "Oh, we got to get to Charmonde" and ChaCha has a voice in her head now from the little box thing. And it was like, "Mmm, you should probably check out the containment breach in the aft", which she then refers to as "ass" for the rest of the episode. Alex [ChaCha] (00:02:01): Yes. Marietta [Atalia] (00:02:02): So Nix is like, "We got to figure out how to get there right away", and she's like, "I want to use this thing and figure out how to get there". And so ChaCha and Atalia help her and she rolls a two. And Daniel's like, "Ooh, that's a free GM intrusion", and so then Nix has this route through some ducts, duct with a "T" like a duc "T", "T" ducts. Alex [ChaCha] (00:02:25): Crawled through a flock of ducks. Marietta [Atalia] (00:02:27): And it's sealed and it's an eight- pointed polygon duct. Stace [Nix] (00:02:32): Standard size. Marietta [Atalia] (00:02:33): And it's sealed and everything. Sealed, okay. And Sampson... I mean, not Sampson, sorry. Well yeah, Sampson, but Sampson playing Dili. Dili opens it with his fancy schmancy, sonic screwdriver, and we can barely fit in. It's not super possible to turnaround, unless you're ChaCha later on in the episode, and Nix leads, and then it's Atalia and Seskii. Then it's ChaCha and Dili. And it's fine, it's fine and then there's a down shaft, which Nix can't even see, and she just like crawls on down there. Then Atalia looks over the edge and it's 40 feet down and she's like, "Oof, I don't know about this, but I guess I'll go for it. Please don't die Seskii!", and then Seskii is fine because Seskii is amazing. Marietta [Atalia] (00:03:21): Then ChaCha's like, "Ooh, we should make a little like rope hold anchor for Dili to get down so that he has an easier time", and so she pulls out her laser gun and she shoots it. Daniel was again like, "ChaCha, do you want a GM intrusion?", and Chacha was like, "Yes, I would love one". Then it ricocheted all over the inside of the duct and they took some might damage, but there were some good rolls, so it was mostly okay, question mark. Then she was able to use that to make an anchor and Dili sealed it really good so we could use it to climb back up later. Theoretically, spoiler alert, not possible. Marietta [Atalia] (00:03:56): Then they continued on down the duct and it was getting warmer and warmer and Nix was like, "Ooh, this is so comfy. My natural train that I've always desired", and I'm like, "Bro, it's like a fucking sauna in here. Where are we going?". And then we come around a corner and we see some light, like actual lights, that are just stuff that Atalia could see, because she's cool. And she's [inaudible 00:04:16]. Anyways, turns out that it's glowing red hot, the metal from the duct. So even Nix is like, "Oof, maybe we won't go this way. So we turn around and ChaCha starts backing up... Or Dili starts backing up, and then he hits like... Oh no, no, no. First there was a there's another GM intrusion and Sampson was like, "Yeah, I'd love that". And so what happens is we hear a crashing noise behind us and the alarm starts to go off and Dili starts backing up like, "Ugh, clearly we can't go this way". And he like trips over a, what is it, a vent that had tripped up or something? Sampson [Dili] (00:04:50): A wall inside the vent just came down. Marietta [Atalia] (00:04:54): That's... yeah. And then that was kind of questionable. So then there was like a tear in it or something. So then Nix was like, "Ka-chaw", and then she was like, "Ka-chaw, ka-chaw", and then we cut through and so we escaped the ducts. Then it was a really cool room and Dili was like, "Ooh", and Atalia was like, "Ooh", but you didn't say it out loud or anything because she's trying not to scan everything. But we're very excited about this heart of the ship. It was like, "Ah!", but then also the breach in the containment. So then Nix is like, "Okay, through this door is where we need to go from those plans that I saw, that I really understood really well". So we go in there and we see this pile of organic goop on the floor and there's like a giant hole from it and it's like the [Herc 00:05:40] digestive juices. And then we ended the episode. Stace [Nix] (00:05:44): You know what's more interesting than the heart of the ship? The heart of the cards. Marietta [Atalia] (00:05:52): Sorry. Sampson [Dili] (00:05:52): When are we going to draw a smiley face on all our hands? When's that episode? Sampson [Dili] (00:05:57): Nope. All right. I was trying to go off... Daniel [GM] (00:05:59): I'm all lost. Sampson [Dili] (00:06:00): Okay, Alex got it. Marietta [Atalia] (00:06:02): I haven't read this book. I don't know what you're talking about. Sampson [Dili] (00:06:06): You haven't read the Yu-Gi-Oh book? What? Marietta? The Yu-Gi-Oh novel? Alex [ChaCha] (00:06:20): The singular Yu-Gi-Oh book. Marietta [Atalia] (00:06:23): Wait, there's actually a Yu-Gi-Oh novel? Daniel [GM] (00:06:24): No. It's like episode two or three of Yu-Gi-Oh. Marietta [Atalia] (00:06:29): I just watched enough of Yu-Gi-Oh to know Blue Eyes, White Dragon or whatever. And that's it. That's all I know about Yu-Gi-Oh. That's it. That's Yu-Gi-Oh, right? Please tell me that's... That's like the only part I needed to remember, I presume. Alex [ChaCha] (00:06:44): Listen, unless you get to the part where people steal his grandpa, it's not important. Marietta [Atalia] (00:06:50): Wait. Stace [Nix] (00:06:50): Wow. Spoiler alert. Marietta [Atalia] (00:06:51): That's the first episode, that's the first episode. Stace [Nix] (00:06:57): I caught an episode every now and then on FoxBox. Alex [ChaCha] (00:07:04): God, that sounds dirty. Let me see your FoxBox. Stace [Nix] (00:07:08): It was children's Saturday morning programming, Alex. Alex [ChaCha] (00:07:12): I know. Sampson [Dili] (00:07:13): That's probably why they changed it to "4Kids", because... Alex [ChaCha] (00:07:15): Yeah, Fox 4Kids. Because people go to ask him for that FoxBox. Stace [Nix] (00:07:19): No, they changed it to "4Kids TV exclamation point" after that. Sampson [Dili] (00:07:23): Yeah. Then it got bad. Stace [Nix] (00:07:25): Yeah. Sampson [Dili] (00:07:26): Or maybe we grew up. I don't know. Marietta [Atalia] (00:07:27): Well, that was a fun tangent. Stace [Nix] (00:07:30): Thank you, Marietta. Marietta [Atalia] (00:07:31): Wow, look at this organic massive goop on the floor. I think it's the Herc digestive juices. That's weird. Daniel [GM] (00:07:45): So yeah, that's the scene. What did you guys do? Alex [ChaCha] (00:07:49): Too bad couldn't fit those bushels through the shortcut. Marietta [Atalia] (00:07:52): I think that might've been the long cut. Stace [Nix] (00:07:56): As far as you guys know, this dropped us off fairly close to the containment breach. For all you guys know it was a legit shortcut. Marietta [Atalia] (00:08:03): Legit. Sampson [Dili] (00:08:04): Wait, did our Hercs get tossed out when we got here? How can this be Herc juice? Stace [Nix] (00:08:09): Yeah. Marietta [Atalia] (00:08:09): I don't know. Alex [ChaCha] (00:08:11): These were here before us. Look, there was a container. Our Hercs got made into shredded Herc meat. These Hercs clearly have been here for a while. Stace [Nix] (00:08:22): Listen, the other Hercs might've survived. We don't know that they died upon impacting the earth. [Stanis 00:08:30] didn't die. Sampson [Dili] (00:08:31): Hercs fly? They were bugs, right? Oh man. If they had wings, that... Ooh, I don't want to think about that one. Stace [Nix] (00:08:36): Yeah. Marietta [Atalia] (00:08:37): Also, if this is digestive juice, can we see if it had digested a body perhaps. Daniel [GM] (00:08:44): Well they would have sucked up whatever they digested. This is sort of the leftover juice. You don't see anything left in it. Stace [Nix] (00:08:50): Maybe you should scan it. Marietta [Atalia] (00:08:53): Atalia walks away. Sampson [Dili] (00:08:58): [inaudible 00:08:58] scared of the heart of the thing. I want to come with. Marietta [Atalia] (00:09:00): All right. It was very hard to contain myself. Alex [ChaCha] (00:09:06): There's another heart of the something isn't there? From Titanic? Sampson [Dili] (00:09:12): Heart of the sea. Alex [ChaCha] (00:09:12): Thank you. Stace [Nix] (00:09:12): Your heart will go on. Sampson [Dili] (00:09:16): Yeah. Stace [Nix] (00:09:17): [inaudible 00:09:14]. Sampson [Dili] (00:09:17): Ooh, there's two things yeah. Stace [Nix] (00:09:18): So is there tracks in this digestive juice or anything that would indicate we're the source? Daniel [GM] (00:09:24): No. As you would imagine, probably nothing organic steps in this digestive juice and gets out of it. Stace [Nix] (00:09:31): Not even the Hercs themselves? Daniel [GM] (00:09:32): No, they're very careful about that. Marietta [Atalia] (00:09:34): Ooh. Daniel [GM] (00:09:35): And they slurp up whatever they want. Alex [ChaCha] (00:09:38): Can we see any leftover berry remanence? Like letting us know somebody was intentionally keeping these Hercs? Daniel [GM] (00:09:49): You don't... Well, actually give me a perception roll. It's going to be a 9. Alex [ChaCha] (00:09:54): 18. Daniel [GM] (00:09:55): You don't see any signs of the berries in this room. Alex [ChaCha] (00:09:59): I think we're going to be cannibalized. Or is it a cannibalization if Hercs eat you? Daniel [GM] (00:10:04): They're not human so it wouldn't be cannibalization. It would just be them eating. Alex [ChaCha] (00:10:09): Thank you God for telling me. Sampson [Dili] (00:10:12): Does ChaCha talk to herself again? Is there another door in this room or is it just the one door? Daniel [GM] (00:10:17): It's just the one door. This is a containment area so there's only one way in or out. Alex [ChaCha] (00:10:22): ChaCha whips out her pistol. I guess we have to murder the Hercs. They were too beautiful for this world. Stace [Nix] (00:10:30): ChaCha, sometimes I find the things you say real disturbing. Daniel [GM] (00:10:33): You guys hear a voice, kind of echoing through the ship, and it sounds like Stanis. Stanis (00:10:41): Okay, I think I figured out how to at least broadcast my voice to the ship, but we are about a minute from Charmonde and the ship seems to be not slowing down, but it still seems to say it's going to stop. So just in case, you guys might want to hold onto something. Alex [ChaCha] (00:11:01): Oh. ChaCha tries to secure herself to something attached to the wall. We are not reenacting Spaceballs. Stace [Nix] (00:11:09): Nix is getting out of the room with the digestive juices that are going to fly around. Sampson [Dili] (00:11:14): That's a good idea. Marietta [Atalia] (00:11:15): Is there a console in here or anything? Daniel [GM] (00:11:18): No, not in this room. Marietta [Atalia] (00:11:20): Okay. Stace [Nix] (00:11:21): Nix goes out to the next room. Alex [ChaCha] (00:11:23): I guess we're attaching ourselves to the heart of the ship. Marietta [Atalia] (00:11:25): Yeah. Dili do you want to go... do you want me to go scan the heart real quick before we crash? Sampson [Dili] (00:11:30): If you can do that quickly I- Stace [Nix] (00:11:33): Nix is just going to go stand against those forward wall. Sampson [Dili] (00:11:37): Same, yeah. I was going to do the same. Stace [Nix] (00:11:37): And if there's something to hold on to. Alex [ChaCha] (00:11:39): ChaCha's going to secure herself to the heart of the ship. Sampson [Dili] (00:11:42): Okay. Daniel [GM] (00:11:44): And Stanis sounds kind of tense and you hear her voice, like- Stanis (00:11:47): Okay. And we're stopping in, it looks like 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5- Stace [Nix] (00:11:58): It's going to be sick! Stanis (00:12:00): 4, 3, 2- Marietta [Atalia] (00:12:04): I hate this. Stanis (00:12:04): 1- Sampson [Dili] (00:12:05): Atalia, are you not going to scan? Stanis (00:12:05): And stopping. Daniel [GM] (00:12:07): And then there's a moment where you guys feel like this... There is a loud thrum from the heart of the ship and then you guys feel just barest push forward as it stops. You feel a little like, almost sick to your stomaches because it's almost like the ship shifts gravity unexpectedly in different ways to try to compensate for the sudden stop. Stace [Nix] (00:12:34): All right. Daniel [GM] (00:12:36): And so then it says. Stanis (00:12:37): Okay. We appear to be stopped. We are... we are really high above the city guys and yeah. So we're here. Hopefully you guys found what you're looking for. Alex [ChaCha] (00:12:53): We found Hercs. Daniel [GM] (00:12:55): Stanis doesn't reply. It doesn't seem like she can hear you yet. She's just figured out how to broadcast her voice. Stace [Nix] (00:13:01): Is there an intercom in this room or like? Daniel [GM] (00:13:04): Give me and understanding Numenera roll of 12. Stace [Nix] (00:13:07): Okay. Daniel [GM] (00:13:07): For you it would be a 15. Stace [Nix] (00:13:07): Oh yeah [inaudible 00:13:11]. Alex [ChaCha] (00:13:12): I guess ChaCha will help. I try to describe what she's looking for. Daniel [GM] (00:13:17): Okay. So that'd break it down to a 12 for Nix. So she would have an asset. Stace [Nix] (00:13:22): I get a nine. Daniel [GM] (00:13:24): Nix, you have no idea. Marietta [Atalia] (00:13:26): So are we falling or are we just floating? Daniel [GM] (00:13:29): Everything feels normal now. For a moment you felt sick while it was stopping, but none of you got slammed into any surfaces. Stace [Nix] (00:13:37): It's like when an elevator stops. Sampson [Dili] (00:13:39): So Atalia, you going to do that scan or? Marietta [Atalia] (00:13:41): I guess since we didn't die in terrible doom, sure. Sampson [Dili] (00:13:45): Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Alex [ChaCha] (00:13:47): ChaCha will detach herself from the heart of the ship. Stace [Nix] (00:13:50): ChaCha that was so extra. Daniel [GM] (00:13:52): So Atalia, if you're scanning the heart of the ship, this is obviously a piece of Numenera, it is a level seven device. Marietta [Atalia] (00:14:05): Whoa. Daniel [GM] (00:14:05): And it is clearly the core power source, the engines that drive everything in this ship. This literally is the heart of the ship. There's no controls for interacting with it. It's too complex for that. In fact, you suspect that every control or strange interface that you've encountered throughout the ship is just touching a small piece of this because it would be too complex to try to control it all from one thing. Marietta [Atalia] (00:14:34): Well, I'll tell Dili. Daniel [GM] (00:14:37): Which suggests to you that this is a ship that typically would require for any kind of extensive work, a large crew. Marietta [Atalia] (00:14:45): Okay. So I think that at one point there's a large crew running the ship. Stace [Nix] (00:14:50): And the Hercs ate them. Marietta [Atalia] (00:14:52): I hope not, but I'll tell Dili what I discovered from the scan. Sampson [Dili] (00:14:56): Dili wasn't raptured. [inaudible 00:15:02] was part of that. Dili doesn't get raptured. Anyway, fucking let's go. We'll just find some perks or whatever. Marietta [Atalia] (00:15:13): We should probably get back to Stanis too. See if there's any way to get down from the ship. Sampson [Dili] (00:15:13): Well, we kind of need to scour around the ship, right? Because we didn't find any in the bridge. Any way of getting down. Stace [Nix] (00:15:18): Oh yeah. Marietta [Atalia] (00:15:19): Can I see if, in the heart of the ship, if there's any other controls in here. Not for the heart specifically, but like... Stace [Nix] (00:15:23): No. Daniel [GM] (00:15:23): There's not like a... I would say based off of your scan, you didn't see any consoles for controlling other ship systems. Marietta [Atalia] (00:15:34): Okay. Daniel [GM] (00:15:35): Everything here is focused around the heart. Marietta [Atalia] (00:15:37): Yeah. I can't really find any information out about like what things are in here. I feel like all of that was like up on the bridge and we were kind of like in the "ass", as ChaCha was referring to. Sampson [Dili] (00:15:49): Start walking then. Marietta [Atalia] (00:15:51): Well, actually this is the heart, but that's the "ass". I'll point to the aft where we just were. Sampson [Dili] (00:15:57): That's how you know an engineer made it. Marietta [Atalia] (00:16:01): Are there any other doors or areas where Hercs, if they were recently here, could have gone on their own. I don't think they have opposable thumbs. Daniel [GM] (00:16:10): They don't. But the problem is that you've noticed is that unless it's a secured area, the doors just kind of open on their own as entities approach them. Marietta [Atalia] (00:16:19): Man, just like Walgreens. Alex [ChaCha] (00:16:20): ChaCha nods sagely. Marietta [Atalia] (00:16:22): Cool. Alex [ChaCha] (00:16:23): Should we go back and check that vent that shut on Dili? Marietta [Atalia] (00:16:27): We can't.. We're not going back up there, that would be crazy. Alex [ChaCha] (00:16:30): No. I mean, from the outside. Someone shut it from the outside. Sampson [Dili] (00:16:34): I think it was this containment breach. Cause there was an alarm that went off. Marietta [Atalia] (00:16:38): That breach was already there though, remember? Daniel [GM] (00:16:42): Oh, that's a good point. Atalia, you were scanning, so just give me an understanding Numenera roll of nine based off of your scan and your train, so it's a six. Alex [ChaCha] (00:16:53): And ChaCha helps. Daniel [GM] (00:16:54): ChaCha helps, it's a three. Marietta [Atalia] (00:16:55): Okay, cool. Because I rolled a five. Thanks ChaCha. Daniel [GM] (00:16:59): Okay. Things shut because this heart is overheating. The heart is running at a higher capacity than it should. Marietta [Atalia] (00:17:10): I don't think it's liking what's going on here. I don't know if it's because we stopped or what, but it's overheating in here, which is probably not ideal for sustained flotation. Sampson [Dili] (00:17:22): Right. Yeah. Well, why would the heat exhaust shut down if it's overheating? Marietta [Atalia] (00:17:27): So that it doesn't touch the heart? Because the heart itself is what's overheating here. Not the whole ship. Daniel [GM] (00:17:32): So the vent is definitely running heat out of the heart. Marietta [Atalia] (00:17:35): Okay. So that shut wall is what is hurting it now, is what I think. Sampson [Dili] (00:17:40): It's getting a heart attack, literally. Daniel [GM] (00:17:42): I would say with your roll, since you had ChaCha helping you, you suspect it because it detected the vent was obstructed. Marietta [Atalia] (00:17:49): Oh, because our asses were in it. Daniel [GM] (00:17:52): And it was shutting things down in order to essentially solve the problem as best it could, which would be to ash whatever it was obstructing it. Sampson [Dili] (00:18:02): Fuck. Marietta [Atalia] (00:18:03): I'm glad it didn't. So would that undo on its own or is there a way to undo that so that it's functioning properly? Daniel [GM] (00:18:10): Maybe once the heart stops overheating. It hasn't yet. Marietta [Atalia] (00:18:14): Oh, cool. Stace [Nix] (00:18:15): What kind of roll would it be to figure out what we need to do to under-heat the heart? Daniel [GM] (00:18:20): I think that would be a 21 understanding Numenera. Alex [ChaCha] (00:18:25): So ChaCha's trained, so that's an 18. I'm sure Dili and Atalia would help. Sampson [Dili] (00:18:32): Can I help if I am not trained? I've neutralized the inability, but I'm not technically trained. Daniel [GM] (00:18:39): Yeah. The way I typically interpret it, I don't know if it's rules as written or whatever, but typically if you have an inability, I won't let you help. But if you have training, sure, you can help. If you're at least neutral, you can help. Sampson [Dili] (00:18:55): All right. Then Dili will help. Alex [ChaCha] (00:18:57): So that brings it down to a 15, 12. Daniel [GM] (00:18:59): Mm-hmm (affirmative). Alex [ChaCha] (00:19:00): Okay, let's do this. I got a 14. Daniel [GM] (00:19:05): Okay. The ship is meant to be in motion. It can't stay stopped for too long and a lot of the overheating was because it sensed it was preparing for the stop. In fact, you think that probably, while you guys only felt the gravity shift when it was stopping, you're suspecting reading between the lines with what you and Atalia detected at various earlier rooms. That the way it's stopping is it's having to strain its gravitational control to essentially hold the ship in place. Like the ship's default mode is to keep going. Alex [ChaCha] (00:19:44): ChaCha would like to explain this to Nix. We need to keep the ship moving or else it's going to explode. So get off the ship now to help your parents and we'll swing around and get you again. Stace [Nix] (00:19:58): What? Alex [ChaCha] (00:19:59): Stopping hurts the ship. Stace [Nix] (00:20:01): I don't know how to get down from the ship, Chacha. Alex [ChaCha] (00:20:03): It's the ship. Stace [Nix] (00:20:03): I don't know how to get down from the ship, ChaCha. Alex [ChaCha] (00:20:04): She shoves the little gliding wing into Nix's arm. Daniel [GM] (00:20:11): Oh, that's right. You have that Cypher that's a butterfly backpack. Alex [ChaCha] (00:20:14): Yes. Stace [Nix] (00:20:15): I mean, I think we should give figuring out how to land this thing a shot, though. Alex [ChaCha] (00:20:19): We can't. There's no landing. Stace [Nix] (00:20:22): Crash it then. I can bring us in for a controlled landing. Marietta [Atalia] (00:20:27): Can I insight-check Nix, to see if that's actually true? Detecting falsehoods. Alex [ChaCha] (00:20:36): Same. ChaCha would like to insight-check her. Alex [ChaCha] (00:20:40): Nix is a confident glaive. Sampson [Dili] (00:20:43): I don't think that's a good idea. Daniel [GM] (00:20:46): I would say Atalia and ChaCha. ChaCha, especially with the help with your friend inside your head. There's no such thing as a safe landing in this ship. It's designed to be constantly in motion. You can either crash it at the speed it usually goes, or you can somehow find your own way to jump out. Alex [ChaCha] (00:21:04): There's no stopping this ship, without it crashing. Crashing could kill a lot of people. We need to get it back in motion. Marietta [Atalia] (00:21:14): There's got to be a way on and off the ship though. It's clearly crewed by a lot of people at some point. They couldn't just like continuously be in motion on here forever, you know? I don't know. Marietta [Atalia] (00:21:26): We should go back to where the console is and I could see what some of these other rooms do, or something. But if we can't cool us down, if we can't get off the ship, if we can't crash it, unless it's at full speed, then that's not... No. Marietta [Atalia] (00:21:38): I'm not. I really want to save your family, but I do not want to die over it. If you want to take your butterfly thing and jump, cool. But I don't think you crash-landing it is going to be safe for anyone. Marietta [Atalia] (00:21:50): You're very capable, so capable, the most. Sampson [Dili] (00:21:55): So first we should probably get back to the bridge. Marietta [Atalia] (00:21:56): Yeah, let's do that. Sampson [Dili] (00:21:58): Whatever we do, maybe we can put the ship in a circular flight pattern above the city and then we can figure out how to actually get down. Because apart from the safety thing, even if you did land safely, there are people waiting for us. Not just your parents, but dangerous people. Sampson [Dili] (00:22:12): And we're probably seen by everybody in the city at the moment. So all eyes are on us. So landing the ship will just bring attention that we probably can't avoid. Stace [Nix] (00:22:22): Yeah. Okay, yeah. That's fine. Let's, really fast, try to find a way to get us all out of here safely, if there is a way. And then if not, ChaCha, I'll use your Cypher. Marietta [Atalia] (00:22:33): Yeah. Okay. Back to the bridge. Alex [ChaCha] (00:22:34): After I see how far down it is, guys, really. Marietta [Atalia] (00:22:37): Oh yeah, which we'll be able to see from the bridge. Can we have a Scooby gang cut scene? Stace [Nix] (00:22:45): Nix goes back over to the ruptured vent? She's like, "Alright, back in." Alex [ChaCha] (00:22:49): No, you go back in. Marietta [Atalia] (00:22:51): No. Sampson [Dili] (00:22:52): No, no. Nix, please. Stace [Nix] (00:22:52): Fine. Alex [ChaCha] (00:22:54): The way's blocked. Stace [Nix] (00:22:56): Going to hurt my feelings, ChaCha. Alex [ChaCha] (00:22:58): The way is blocked. ChaCha doesn't understand how Nix forgot that the other side of the vent is closed. Daniel [GM] (00:23:05): Okay. There are other corridors here, though, that you can make your way up. Stace [Nix] (00:23:11): Did Nix know a second-best path? Daniel [GM] (00:23:13): I would say, yeah. I mean, it'll take a little bit longer, but you could use it to get back. You figured that out. Stace [Nix] (00:23:21): This way, guys. Daniel [GM] (00:23:22): Okay As you're going, you encounter mostly corridors leaning. There's not a lot of separate chambers down here, this close to the heart, but then Stannis's voice comes over the Intercom. So it's like, "Guys, we're starting to get noticed. There is a lot of activity on the ground. Specifically town guard, Navarene army, emergency deployments." Sampson [Dili] (00:23:55): I wonder if they're going to activate the fortresses. Alex [ChaCha] (00:23:58): Probably. They overreact a lot. Sampson [Dili] (00:24:01): Shit. Marietta [Atalia] (00:24:02): Maybe there's a cloaking feature. Let's go find out. Sampson [Dili] (00:24:05): Quick question, Dan. I feel like I read in the book that the fortresses have some defense mechanism, but that the defense mechanism is busted. Is that busted part known to the Charmonde citizens? Or do they think the fortresses defense thing works? Alex [ChaCha] (00:24:23): I'd assume they think it works, unless they're bad leaders. Daniel [GM] (00:24:26): Well. There are fortresses. I don't think it's known to what degree they operate. I don't think it's common knowledge. Sampson [Dili] (00:24:35): Okay. Marietta [Atalia] (00:24:36): Are we getting back to the bridge? Or is there stuff in between? Sampson [Dili] (00:24:39): So that was Stannis giving you that warning. You do find yourself to a junction where it is clear. You could go one direction to link back up with a series of rooms that would get you back to the cargo bay and then there's one path towards the bridge. So it depends. If you want to make a detour to check the cargo bay or not. Alex [ChaCha] (00:25:01): What would we check the cargo bay for? Is that for just the statues and stuff or to see if the herreks were there. Daniel [GM] (00:25:06): I thought you guys were saying something about the cargo bay with herreks and checking that, so I don't know. Alex [ChaCha] (00:25:13): Oh. Marietta [Atalia] (00:25:13): Nix, we're going to go to the bridge and move the ship away from the city and stop it again. Daniel [GM] (00:25:17): Mm-hmm (affirmative). Okay. Is everybody going to do that or are you staying as a group? Are you splitting? Sampson [Dili] (00:25:22): Dili will follow Nix. Stace [Nix] (00:25:23): Yeah, I'm trying to go back to the bridge to see if I can figure out what some of these other rooms do. If there's something I think we could use to help us. Daniel [GM] (00:25:30): Mm-hmm (affirmative). Alex [ChaCha] (00:25:32): ChaCha might make a slight detour. Daniel [GM] (00:25:35): Okay. So, ChaCha goes off to make a detour. The rest of you are heading on your way to the bridge. The path is relatively familiar because it's the path you took before. Marietta [Atalia] (00:25:45): Yeah. Guys, guys, ChaCha tried to push buttons on the bridge. Should we really- Stace [Nix] (00:25:49): She's got that voice in her head, now. Daniel [GM] (00:25:51): Well, she's going towards the cargo bay where you didn't see many buttons. Marietta [Atalia] (00:25:55): Someone should go with ChaCha. Sampson [Dili] (00:25:57): You were the only one who could stop her. Physically, I mean. Marietta [Atalia] (00:26:01): Yeah, I'm not looking to get in a fight with ChaCha. She's got that gun. I don't have a gun. Stace [Nix] (00:26:05): Not fight with ChaCha herself. Help ChaCha. What are you guys talking about, stopping her? Marietta [Atalia] (00:26:12): You were just, like the example was she tried to push a bunch of buttons. Stace [Nix] (00:26:15): Yeah, so go with her. Stace [Nix] (00:26:17): I'm going to be able to help you with anything with this ship if I go with her. Sampson [Dili] (00:26:21): Fine, I'll go, I'll go. Stace [Nix] (00:26:23): Thanks Dili. Sampson [Dili] (00:26:24): If I die it's [inaudible 00:26:25] Stace [Nix] (00:26:24): If you die Dili, I'll miss you a lot. Marietta [Atalia] (00:26:28): Do you want Jeskii to go with you? Daniel [GM] (00:26:30): I wasn't ready for that one. Sampson [Dili] (00:26:32): [inaudible 00:26:32] Huh? Marietta [Atalia] (00:26:33): Do you want to take Jeskii? Sampson [Dili] (00:26:33): I... Daniel [GM] (00:26:36): Jeskii makes a huge yawn showing off all of her teeth. Marietta [Atalia] (00:26:39): Look at those puppies. Sampson [Dili] (00:26:41): I don't know if that'll be enough. Jeskii is probably better with you. I can just use my robot buddy that I probably picked up. Stace [Nix] (00:26:49): Wait, if our automatons followed us... Marietta [Atalia] (00:26:54): I think our automatons are toast at this point. Sampson [Dili] (00:26:58): The automatons lasts about an hour. Those of you who are heading back up to the bridge will cross the room where the automatons are. So you will probably spawn some more copies of yourself. Sampson [Dili] (00:27:07): Mm-hmm (affirmative). Stace [Nix] (00:27:08): Dude, I have a question. Throughout our travels through the ship, have we found any Cyphers? Daniel [GM] (00:27:13): Oh, that's a good question. Have you guys actively been looking for Cyphers? Stace [Nix] (00:27:18): Well, Nix hasn't had Cyphers since she sold them. Daniel [GM] (00:27:24): Yeah, but that's not my question. Is Nix actively looking? Stace [Nix] (00:27:29): So yeah, I would say she's been actively looking for Cyphers in a very general sense. Daniel [GM] (00:27:34): But is she engaged in it as she's crossing through these rooms and these vents. Stace [Nix] (00:27:39): No, she's not like searching hard, but she's keeping an eye out. Daniel [GM] (00:27:44): That won't be enough to find Cyphers. You could enlist other people to help you with that. Daniel [GM] (00:27:49): I feel like Nix is very mission-focused, right now. So I have a hard time believing that she's studying the Numenera in each room to see what could be detached as a Cypher. Stace [Nix] (00:27:58): All right. But Daniel, I got rid of my Cyphers because I believed that you'd give me more at some point. Daniel [GM] (00:28:05): I will, but not this way. You've got to have somebody else looking for you. Stace [Nix] (00:28:09): I'm not really giving you shit, Daniel. Okay. No Cyphers. Daniel [GM] (00:28:13): Yeah. Marietta [Atalia] (00:28:13): Yeah. I've got one, too. I've got lie-eater. Sampson [Dili] (00:28:16): Anybody could look. You could look. Stace [Nix] (00:28:18): No, you're right but Nix wouldn't look, though. Not actively. Marietta [Atalia] (00:28:22): We've got much more pressing matters at this moment. Daniel [GM] (00:28:25): So, let's resolve the cargo bay first. Daniel [GM] (00:28:28): So, ChaCha and Dili, you enter the cargo bay. It looks relatively similar, at first glance, but I need you each to make a perception roll of nine. Sampson [Dili] (00:28:40): This is an intellect roll? Daniel [GM] (00:28:42): Mm-hmm (affirmative). Sampson [Dili] (00:28:43): I will spend a level of effort. [inaudible 00:28:46] And roll a 13. Alex [ChaCha] (00:28:48): I got a 10. Daniel [GM] (00:28:49): Okay. There is something pooled underneath the cart. Sampson [Dili] (00:28:53): Oh, that's new. Alex [ChaCha] (00:28:56): Yeah. That's the berries in that cart. So this is what I wanted to see if the loose herreks went after the berry [inaudible 00:09:08]. Sampson [Dili] (00:29:04): So it should be fed, right? Alex [ChaCha] (00:29:08): It depends on how many herreks were there. Sampson [Dili] (00:29:11): We had two weeks worth of berries, so they should be fine. They only eat their fill is what the- Alex [ChaCha] (00:29:17): Yeah, but we only had two weeks for two herreks. Sampson [Dili] (00:29:20): And do you think there are? Unless there's a lot. Are there herrek? Do we see herreks anywhere in the room? Daniel [GM] (00:29:30): No, but I will say this puddle's the wrong color to be the digestive juices. Sampson [Dili] (00:29:35): Oh, that's not the right color. Oh. Oh, boy. Can you scan, ChaCha? Alex [ChaCha] (00:29:40): No. I can do this, and ChaCha bends over backwards. Sampson [Dili] (00:29:45): Right, right. Keep that in mind. Daniel [GM] (00:29:48): You guys could take a closer look, Sampson [Dili] (00:29:50): Right? Let's go take a look. Daniel [GM] (00:29:51): Okay. Alex [ChaCha] (00:29:53): Yeah. I think ChaCha will not exorcism crawl. She'll walk like a " human" with air quotes. Sampson [Dili] (00:30:02): Actually before getting too close, Dili will walk around to whatever end the cart is open on and see if there's anything in the cart, beyond statues. Daniel [GM] (00:30:14): So the puddles near the front of the cart. So, you're going to take the long way around? Is that what you're saying? Sampson [Dili] (00:30:21): Yeah. Go to it, then, with 15 feet between, do a circle and just check to see that there's nothing hiding in the cart. Daniel [GM] (00:30:29): So in the cart, you only see the statues and some knocked over bushel barrels that have digestive fluid on them and nothing else. Sampson [Dili] (00:30:40): All right. That looks like they got to the berries, but they're not there. So that's good. All right. Let's [inaudible 00:30:48] Alex [ChaCha] (00:30:48): Are all of the bushels gone? Daniel [GM] (00:30:50): The bushels are empty. And ChaCha, you were checking the puddle in front, right, while Dili was going the long way around? Alex [ChaCha] (00:30:56): Yes. Daniel [GM] (00:30:57): So the puddle in front seems to be some sort of mucus. And then looking closer to that, as underneath the cart, you see what appears to be the torn-open remnants of what, may have been, just a guess, a large egg sac. Alex [ChaCha] (00:31:16): Would ChaCha be able to guess it was attached to our cart, or it was just hidden underneath that cart. Daniel [GM] (00:31:24): It was definitely attached to your cart. Alex [ChaCha] (00:31:26): So I think our herreks had sex and had babies on our cart. Sampson [Dili] (00:31:31): Uh-oh. Daniel [GM] (00:31:33): And Nix just wasn't paying attention that night. Sampson [Dili] (00:31:37): Calming sounds of nature. Stace [Nix] (00:31:39): Oh no. Sampson [Dili] (00:31:47): They did it in the cart. We all lied in that cart, ugh. I feel dirty. I felt dirty for months, but this is the worst that's been, ugh. Alex [ChaCha] (00:31:58): You weren't strapped to the bottom, so it's not like you were where they did it. Sampson [Dili] (00:32:03): The whole thing feels tainted though. You know. Daniel [GM] (00:32:06): Dili made this cart and then they defiled it. Sampson [Dili] (00:32:10): This was holy. And now it's not. Alex [ChaCha] (00:32:17): I mean, it could be worse. This could be just an egg sac from a completely different monster. And we're just in-between herreks that will eventually want to eat us and a new creature that we don't know what it wants. Daniel [GM] (00:32:34): And now that you are closer, I will say this. You do see what looks to be... You can't tell because if they were herreks, herreks had six legs. There seem to be hundreds of little footprints coming out of that mucus before they disappeared. Alex [ChaCha] (00:32:51): Good news, Dili, they didn't have sex. It's a different monster that we don't know what it wants. Sampson [Dili] (00:32:57): What? How do you know? Alex [ChaCha] (00:33:00): Because herreks they have six legs, and ChaCha holds up six fingers. This one has so many more. So many more. Sampson [Dili] (00:33:09): Well, there could be more than one. There could be a whole clutch, tiny little baby herreks, making tiny little baby steps. Alex [ChaCha] (00:33:18): Well, I mean, it makes it awkward because we're now out of berries. Sampson [Dili] (00:33:22): Yeah so we should go tell the others, actually. That's a good point. Alex [ChaCha] (00:33:25): You know what we could do? We could drop these on the city of Charmonde. Sampson [Dili] (00:33:30): Why would we do that? Alex [ChaCha] (00:33:31): Aerial warfare. We strike first. Sampson [Dili] (00:33:34): We're not fighting Charmonde. Alex [ChaCha] (00:33:36): Who knows if they'll survive the fall. Maybe they think a passing ship is dumping trash. Sampson [Dili] (00:33:43): Smaller things tend to survive higher falls. And these are pretty small. So they might be light enough to survive. So that might not be a great thing. Alex [ChaCha] (00:33:53): I mean, if loan shark guy's dead. Then there's nothing left in Charmonde that we need, besides Nix's parents. Sampson [Dili] (00:34:00): Nix's parents. Okay. Yeah. We agree on that. Jima might still be here, although she'd be fine. Alex [ChaCha] (00:34:07): Yeah, Jima will murder them all if she's still in Charmonde. Sampson [Dili] (00:34:11): What about the guy who makes the Scorps? You want to kill him? Alex [ChaCha] (00:34:15): I don't know him from Adam. So if he dies, he dies. Sampson [Dili] (00:34:20): Who's Adam? Marietta [Atalia] (00:34:21): Thank you. Alex [ChaCha] (00:34:22): It was this kid down the street from Steve, Adam wasn't as cool. He's kind of a dick. So agreeing. Sampson [Dili] (00:34:31): Let's put that on the back burner. Let's get back to the bridge and tell them that this is happening. Alex [ChaCha] (00:34:37): They could be in the ventilation shafts, so they'll know. They'll know. Sampson [Dili] (00:34:40): Oh, but just in case, let's go. We should just go. Daniel [GM] (00:34:44): Okay. Sampson [Dili] (00:34:44): I'm going to go. Dili's going to go. Daniel [GM] (00:34:46): Okay. Question. Dili or ChaCha? Alex [ChaCha] (00:34:49): Yeah, what? Sampson [Dili] (00:34:50): I'm going to roll a die. Evens, ChaCha. Dili, odd. Daniel [GM] (00:34:55): Okay. Sampson [Dili] (00:34:56): Fuck. Dili. Daniel [GM] (00:34:58): Okay. Dili. Evens or odds? Sampson [Dili] (00:35:02): Odds. Daniel [GM] (00:35:04): Okay. Stace, please roll a die and tell me if you get evens or odds? Stace [Nix] (00:35:08): Evens. Daniel [GM] (00:35:09): Okay. Samson. Dili and ChaCha, as they're making their way to the bridge, they are moving relatively quickly and they move into that room that had the strange crystal on the wall that made people laugh. And the one that spits out automatons, and then you notice a small automaton clicking. Small-ish, not as small, think about the size of Jeskii. Sampson [Dili] (00:35:41): Fuck. Daniel [GM] (00:35:42): Moving towards you. This automaton on six legs, snapping two little grippy things next to its mouth. It looks a lot like a herrek made a Synth. Daniel [GM] (00:35:55): And then we're going to cut back to the bridge. Where- Sampson [Dili] (00:35:59): Quick question on size. In my head, Jeskii the size of a malamute. Daniel [GM] (00:36:03): Yes. Sampson [Dili] (00:36:04): That's small. Oh my God. I hate those. Daniel [GM] (00:36:07): Remember the herreks on their own are big enough. An adult herrek is enough to move the card with statues and you guys in it. Sampson [Dili] (00:36:14): I thought they were human-sized, in terms of length. Daniel [GM] (00:36:18): They are. Sampson [Dili] (00:36:19): Oh God. Cool. Daniel [GM] (00:36:20): So Nix and Atalia. You get back up to the bridge and Stannis is just like, "Yeah, so it looks like they're mobilizing down there. I assume that they've decided that we're a threat to the city." Stace [Nix] (00:36:39): Yeah. We're going to go ahead and move away from the city. So that way, maybe they'll settle down. Daniel [GM] (00:36:44): That's not a terrible idea. Where are we going to? Stace [Nix] (00:36:48): How far would we have to go to be out of at least visual range? Daniel [GM] (00:36:53): Depends which direction you go. If you head to the East, there's the mountains, which means that you could get, you could go over the black riyaj. It'd be pretty hard for them to see you because of the way the foothills would interfere with their vision. If you head to the West, you would probably have to go farther to get out of their immediate sight. Daniel [GM] (00:37:11): Either way. It's probably minutes of travel for you guys in the ship. That would be the equivalent of hours, or even days on foot. Marietta [Atalia] (00:37:19): I would like to see and investigate if there's like any sort of cloaking mechanism that this ship would have. Daniel [GM] (00:37:25): Okay. So give me an understanding Numenera roll of nine. You are trained, so that's a six. Marietta [Atalia] (00:37:32): Okay. That's a 17. Daniel [GM] (00:37:34): There doesn't appear to be a way to cloak the ship. It seems like if any kind of stealth it has, is typically seems to be based on the fact that it moves so fast, that it's hard for people to track it, typically. Marietta [Atalia] (00:37:45): Okay. The other thing whenever we're ready to investigate would be, if there's any sort of teleportation off the ship mechanism. Daniel [GM] (00:37:54): That will be more difficult. Give me an understanding Numenera, roll of 15. That's a 12 for you. Marietta [Atalia] (00:38:00): Okay. And I'll spend, two levels of effort. Daniel [GM] (00:38:05): Okay. So that brings it down to a six. Marietta [Atalia] (00:38:07): That's a 10. Daniel [GM] (00:38:10): So there is a way to teleport off the ship. There is a system for that. It is also listed as offline and then needing repair. Marietta [Atalia] (00:38:20): Fuck. Hey Nix, there is a teleportation mechanism to get off the ship, but it says it's offline and needs repair. So I feel like we would need Dili for that, probably. Stace [Nix] (00:38:31): Yeah. Marietta [Atalia] (00:38:31): I can make things work once. I can make weird shit work sometimes and then maybe Stannis could just stay on the ship and she could fly it away. Like she could go back to Shallamas, maybe, because she wanted to take those, [inaudible 00:38:47] crystals there. Stace [Nix] (00:38:47): Stannis, you good with that? Daniel [GM] (00:38:48): I'd prefer to turn in those crystals, yeah. I've been traveling a long time with them. Stace [Nix] (00:38:53): All right. Marietta [Atalia] (00:38:53): Would you feel comfortable with that Stannis? Daniel [GM] (00:38:56): I might need your guys' help to figure out the exact controls for it, but I'm not in a hurry to return to Charmonde because, well, you never know. She might be there. Marietta [Atalia] (00:39:10): She could be in Shallamas, too. Daniel [GM] (00:39:12): I know. Stace [Nix] (00:39:13): Isn't that what the face person told me? That my mother was waiting for me in Shallamas? Daniel [GM] (00:39:18): She did that. The head in the water. Yeah. Did say that Marietta [Atalia] (00:39:23): Just be careful. She could be there. Daniel [GM] (00:39:25): Well, if she's there, then may the best woman win. Stace [Nix] (00:39:30): So where's the center coms, Stannis? Daniel [GM] (00:39:32): Oh, it's over here. It's not too hard once you get the gist of it, but here. So, there's something here where you could theoretically pick rooms, but I don't understand how to identify the rooms. Daniel [GM] (00:39:45): It's just a listing in a language I don't recognize. But this one I was able to figure out. If you press this while you're running this control, it'll broadcast your voice to, I assume, everywhere in the ship. Stace [Nix] (00:39:58): All right. So Nix pushes the button and says, "Dili, this is the captain speaking." Stace [Nix] (00:40:03): ... push the button and says, "Dili, this is the captain speaking. I need you to come to the bridge and fix some shit." Sampson [Dili] (00:40:08): Captain? Is that the captain? Sounds like Nix. Alex [ChaCha] (00:40:10): Did we elect a captain? Daniel [GM] (00:40:13): You guys didn't, but Nix can't hear you back. Marietta [Atalia] (00:40:15): She's the one with the navigation skills, so... Daniel [GM] (00:40:18): Yeah. And [Stannis 00:40:19] says... I mean, obviously they can't... I don't know how to get them to respond, or if there is a way for them to respond, but I'm pretty sure they heard you. Alex [ChaCha] (00:40:28): Sweet. Marietta [Atalia] (00:40:29): I guess if we're just going to be waiting for them, I'll start and try to see if I can figure out what specifically needs to be done to bring this teleportation back online and what that entails. Daniel [GM] (00:40:41): Give me an understanding human error role of 18. So if you're training, it'll be a 15. Marietta [Atalia] (00:40:46): We're not fighting anyone when we get off the ship immediately, are we? Daniel [GM] (00:40:50): Depends where you get off the ship. Marietta [Atalia] (00:40:52): True. Okay. I'm going to spend the intellect, I guess. Might be useless... Daniel [GM] (00:40:59): Brings it down to a nine, unless you're doing two levels of effort. Marietta [Atalia] (00:41:02): That was two levels of effort. Daniel [GM] (00:41:04): So that's a six. And what did you roll? Marietta [Atalia] (00:41:09): I rolled a one. Alex [ChaCha] (00:41:09): Dispend that XP to reroll that? Marietta [Atalia] (00:41:11): Yeah, I have an XP dispense. Cool. I'll do that. I'll do that. Mm-hmm (affirmative). Daniel [GM] (00:41:17): Okay. Marietta [Atalia] (00:41:18): That's a 19. That's worth, right? Daniel [GM] (00:41:20): Yeah. Okay. So the ship's teleportation system obviously has a default connection back to the teleportation path that you guys boarded on, but there is a line of site based one that appears to be that it could be brought back online presumably to have a defective... It needs something to centrally serve as a intermediate-like capacitor to handle power, so it needs something like that. Yeah, and it's based that you could see the chamber. It's not that far from the bridge. It's maybe a couple of junctions off in a direction you guys haven't normally traveled, in the ship at least. But it's there, and it needs some of that work. You're can't necessarily tell without digging in deeper exactly what kind of thing would serve as a capacitor there. It might be something where there might be... If there is any way apart for that, great if you could find it and identify it. Otherwise, you might need somebody to fabricate something that could serve that purpose. Stace [Nix] (00:42:32): Okay. I think I'm going to need Dili for this part. There might be something that would work, but I'm not good at making Numenera. That's not my thing. Just like to check it out, caress it occasionally. Yeah, so I wonder what's taking them so long. Daniel [GM] (00:42:48): So we cut back to ChaCha and Dili. You're in this chamber, and you see these automatons moving at you that look like smaller [hurrics 00:00:42:56], and they're moving at you with a quick pace. Sampson [Dili] (00:43:01): Oh shit, oh shit. We should go. Alex [ChaCha] (00:43:02): Now we know it's at least [inaudible 00:43:03]. This is good, and we know that they're heading towards the bridge to eat Nix and Atalia. But they have Stannis, so they could eat Stannis first. Sampson [Dili] (00:43:17): Yeah. No, this is great. Think it out in your head, though. We should go. Can we get to the bridge? Are they blocking our path? Daniel [GM] (00:43:24): The automatons are blocking your path. They could be, in fact, you think, mirroring that behavior of whatever they're based off of. Sampson [Dili] (00:43:32): All right. Daniel [GM] (00:43:34): And it's at this point that I need you two to roll initiative as the real hurrics are coming at you from the other direction. Sampson [Dili] (00:43:42): Shit. Alex [ChaCha] (00:43:44): I got a 12. Daniel [GM] (00:43:46): What did Dili get? Sampson [Dili] (00:43:47): 11. Daniel [GM] (00:43:48): Okay. I think ChaCha is going to go first. ChaCha? Alex [ChaCha] (00:43:52): Okay. Daniel [GM] (00:43:53): There are these automaton hurrics coming at you from one direction, and it is now obvious to you that real hurrics are coming at you from the other direction. Alex [ChaCha] (00:44:02): So ChaCha's going to shoot up a real hurric. Daniel [GM] (00:44:08): Mm-hmm (affirmative). Are you using your laser gun or your darts? I guess it doesn't matter. They're both light weapons for this purpose. Alex [ChaCha] (00:44:13): Yes. Daniel [GM] (00:44:15): So yeah, that'd be a six to hit then for you. Alex [ChaCha] (00:44:17): So 13. Daniel [GM] (00:44:19): Okay, so you definitely are using your laser gun? Alex [ChaCha] (00:44:23): Yes. Daniel [GM] (00:44:23): Okay, so one of four of these hurrics takes a blast, and it makes a screeching sound. Next up is Dili. Sampson [Dili] (00:44:34): Dili will use his minor illusion to create a bushel of berries. I guess he would position it in a way such that he would hope the hurrics kind of go that way, like go to the right, and then they will cut around to the left. Or that would leave an opening for Dili and ChaCha to run to the left. Daniel [GM] (00:44:53): Interesting. Okay, so give me an intellect based roll, or deception based roll if you have deception, of nine. Sampson [Dili] (00:45:05): Nice. I will spend a level of effort to rule over that. That lowers to a six. I spend one of my many XPs to reroll that. Daniel [GM] (00:45:16): Was that a one? Sampson [Dili] (00:45:17): It was a four. It's not that bad, but we need to get out. Nat 20. Alex [ChaCha] (00:45:24): Yeah. Daniel [GM] (00:45:24): Okay. What would you propose as a major effect? It's not going to fool all of them, but if you'd like, we could say all, but one of them as fooled by it. Sampson [Dili] (00:45:34): Can I say... Wait, was that with the 20? Is that what you're proposing? Daniel [GM] (00:45:39): We could say that your major effect is all but one of them, as opposed to what normally would have been, which is a success would have fooled one of them. Sampson [Dili] (00:45:46): I'll go with that. Daniel [GM] (00:45:48): Okay. So three of them kind of peel off towards that illusion, and their automatons follow, as one is moved forward. It's now critter's turn, so the three of them are kind of pursuing that berry. The one that is coming at you, its automaton is, of course, mirroring it. And it is going to attempt to grab Dili with its pinchers. Dili, please make a nine speed defense roll for the real hurric. Sampson [Dili] (00:46:16): Oh, this is going to suck. Okay. I'll put a level of effort into that. So it was a nine originally. Six? Daniel [GM] (00:46:27): Yes, that's a six. Sampson [Dili] (00:46:29): Spend another XP. Oh wow, it's a four again too, so that's just... Alex [ChaCha] (00:46:34): Oh no. Sampson [Dili] (00:46:37): 14. Daniel [GM] (00:46:38): Okay. You managed to dodge just as this thing tries to snap at you with its pinchers. Also, the other, its automaton copy, is going to try to snap at you with its Synth pinchers, but this will only be a three speed defense. Sampson [Dili] (00:46:53): Is that because it's slow, or because I know it's copying so I can- Daniel [GM] (00:46:57): It's because of what it is as the automaton copy, what it's capable of. Sampson [Dili] (00:47:01): Okay. I'll roll that straight. I get a six. Daniel [GM] (00:47:05): Okay. You managed to dodge it snapping at you. And now we go back up to ChaCha. You've just seen two of these things try to snap at Dili. The three other hurrics and their three other automaton copies are chasing this illusion of berries over there, which actually look pretty tasty. Sampson [Dili] (00:47:24): Focus, ChaCha. Alex [ChaCha] (00:47:27): ChaCha is going to shoot at the hurric that snapped at Dili. Daniel [GM] (00:47:33): The real one or the automaton one? Alex [ChaCha] (00:47:35): The real one. Daniel [GM] (00:47:36): Okay. So are you using your laser weapon? Alex [ChaCha] (00:47:40): Yes, please. Daniel [GM] (00:47:42): Okay. Please roll depletion on that for me. It's just a D20- Alex [ChaCha] (00:47:45): 17. Daniel [GM] (00:47:46): Okay, so that's fine. So then you can shoot it again. So this'll be a six to hit. Alex [ChaCha] (00:47:51): 14. Daniel [GM] (00:47:52): Okay. It does not like that. Alex [ChaCha] (00:47:54): Unfortunately, that's the point. Daniel [GM] (00:47:57): Yes. Next up is Dili. Sampson [Dili] (00:48:00): Dili is going to run towards the bridge. Daniel [GM] (00:48:02): Okay. So you're going to dodge past these two creatures on either side of you, so it is going to be... Give me just sort of a speed based role of nine. Sampson [Dili] (00:48:13): I will put a level of effort into this, bring that down. Daniel [GM] (00:48:18): What did you roll, Samson? Alex [ChaCha] (00:48:19): Could he use some of that XP? Sampson [Dili] (00:48:21): I've got plenty of it. Yes, I will spend- Daniel [GM] (00:48:25): Wow. Sampson [Dili] (00:48:25): ... third XP this combat. Stace [Nix] (00:48:27): Hey, Sampson, let me spin the one you asked me to reserve for reroll. Sampson [Dili] (00:48:32): But are you sure? Because this would bring me down to seven XP, so... Yeah. Alex [ChaCha] (00:48:38): Well, you haven't teared up, though, have you? Sampson [Dili] (00:48:40): No, I haven't. Alex [ChaCha] (00:48:42): What are you doing? Stop. Stace [Nix] (00:48:43): Hey, all right. Yeah, I'll spend it. Sampson [Dili] (00:48:46): No, no. I only need the four to tear up. I only need four for the scene that I hope Dili lives to. So don't spend your XP, Stace. I got plenty. Stace [Nix] (00:48:57): Five minutes later. Sampson [Dili] (00:48:59): 11. Daniel [GM] (00:48:59): Okay. Yeah, you managed to get past them. Where are you running to? Sampson [Dili] (00:49:04): Come on, ChaCha, let's go. Daniel [GM] (00:49:05): So you're heading towards the door that leads up to the corridor to the bridge? Okay. Okay, so you make your way. Next up is the hurrics. The hurric that was coming after you, Dili, is going to pursue you as well as the automatons. They're running along behind you, but they're in the same boat as you, like they could catch up to you, but they can't attack unless you actually stop. The three others... Stace, roll a die for me and tell me if you get even or odd. Stace [Nix] (00:49:36): Even. Daniel [GM] (00:49:39): Okay. Only one of the hurrics figures out that the berry is an illusion and comes after ChaCha instead. So ChaCha, please make a nine speed defense roll. Alex [ChaCha] (00:49:50): 18. Daniel [GM] (00:49:51): Alex, you dodge out of this hurric's chompy bits, and I need you to make a speed defense roll of three as the automaton tries to do the same thing. Alex [ChaCha] (00:50:01): 10. Daniel [GM] (00:50:01): Okay, so you dodged both chompy bits. And now it is ChaCha's turn. Actually, before we do ChaCha's turn, what are Nix and Atalia doing on the bridge? Stace [Nix] (00:50:11): It depends on how close Atalia needs to be to figure out the teleportation. Because if it's not particularly close, Nix would put the ship in motion before it overheated. Daniel [GM] (00:50:23): Well, Atalia has already said that she's probably going to need Dili to actually do any of the fabrication stuff that's needed. Marietta [Atalia] (00:50:28): But we asked him to meet us on the bridge. So I don't know... Unless there's some alarms going off or something, I don't know that we would be prompted to go meet them or anything. Sampson [Dili] (00:50:38): Question, Dan. I thought the fabrication thing was only for the teleporter system, not the actual moving the ship part. Daniel [GM] (00:50:44): No, that's totally separate from the teleporting, from the moving the ship. Marietta [Atalia] (00:50:48): But the teleportation needs to be visual. Daniel [GM] (00:50:51): The teleporting needs line of sight for wherever it's trying to send you to. Sampson [Dili] (00:50:56): Stace, isn't that what you're asking, to actually get the ship moving? Stace [Nix] (00:50:59): To avoid overheating, because it's overheating from staying in one spot, so Nix put the ship in motion, even if it's just a circular pattern. Marietta [Atalia] (00:51:06): Okay, cool. That makes more sense. I was just afraid if we flew away... We need that line of sight, but we can come back to it. Okay. I guess Atalia is trying to figure out as much of it as she can and just understand the system so that when Dili shows up, she can be like, "This is specifically what we need." Stace [Nix] (00:51:26): Once Nix sets a circular course, would it be back on autopilot? Daniel [GM] (00:51:30): Yes, she could. Although, it's definitely going to have to strain the gravity to do that a little bit, as well, but not as much as holding it still. Stace [Nix] (00:51:39): Not taking a real tight circle, Daniel. Maybe like a... Daniel [GM] (00:51:45): It doesn't have to be at the speed the ship is going, of course. Stace [Nix] (00:51:48): Oh, okay. Got it, got it. Yeah. If, in your opinion, it would seem like an unusual amount of time for Dili and ChaCha to make their way back, then Nix would go looking. Daniel [GM] (00:52:03): Okay. I mean, if you want, you can do a tight rotation, or you could do a wider rotation. It's totally up to you. Stace [Nix] (00:52:07): Yeah. I think line of sight still to the city, but wide enough that it maybe give him a little breathing room, if we do have to bail. Daniel [GM] (00:52:16): Okay, cool. I think you're able to set that up. That's fine. So you've managed to get the ship back in motion again. Oh, sorry. To be clear, are you aiming for a circle that sort of makes it hard for somebody to track on the ground? Or are you looking for a circle that's just sort of like let's just circle around the city, so that it doesn't blow up? Stace [Nix] (00:52:36): I think Nix would, if it seemed doable, try to do a little concealment. Yeah. Daniel [GM] (00:52:42): Okay. So that means a wider circle then. Stace [Nix] (00:52:45): Yeah. I'm thinking at least a mile from the edges of the city. Daniel [GM] (00:52:49): Okay. Yeah, that's fine. Okay, that makes sense. Okay. So the ship is going round and round. Anything else that Atalia and Nix want to do? Marietta [Atalia] (00:52:59): Nope, just using the console. Stace [Nix] (00:53:01): And then Nix gets back on the intercom. "Dili, this is the captain again. Hey, I need you in the bridge to fix some shit. Everything all right?" Sampson [Dili] (00:53:12): Smash cut... Dili is crying as he's running from hurrics. Daniel [GM] (00:53:22): Okay. So it's ChaCha's turn. ChaCha, you just fucked up some hurrics where you are over there. There are, of course, the three hurrics that are in immediate range and the one that is currently chasing after Dili along with its automaton. What would you like to do? Alex [ChaCha] (00:53:40): Would it be possible for ChaCha to fire on the one chasing Dili while trying to follow Dili? Daniel [GM] (00:53:50): Yeah. You won't get a short distance, but I will let you... You could fire on it. And we could say from cinematic reasons, you're trying to follow Dili, but your shot will have to be while you're stationary, effectively, at least in human error terms. Alex [ChaCha] (00:54:04): Yes. Daniel [GM] (00:54:05): So that will be a six since your artifact functions as a light weapon. Alex [ChaCha] (00:54:13): Well, 19, good sir. Daniel [GM] (00:54:15): Would you like the extra damage or a minor effect? Alex [ChaCha] (00:54:18): Extra damage. Daniel [GM] (00:54:20): Okay. So what does it look like when this beam kills the hurric that's chasing after Dili? Alex [ChaCha] (00:54:24): I think it explodes on Dili. It's a little bit of sploosh on his back. Daniel [GM] (00:54:30): Okay, sounds good. Sampson [Dili] (00:54:31): It's digesting me. Daniel [GM] (00:54:33): Yeah, I was going to say, is there any digestive fluid in that, or no? Alex [ChaCha] (00:54:37): No, let's not be super-duper mean. Daniel [GM] (00:54:41): Okay. So, Dili, you get slammed with some mixture of like mucus and fluid on your back, just all over your back. It's just like a sudden slap of warm viscous fluid, and- Sampson [Dili] (00:54:59): Thanks. Thanks, thanks, thanks. Daniel [GM] (00:54:59): And then the automaton that was chasing after Dili kind of stops what it's doing and kind of goes dead still where it was chasing him. Next up is Dili. Sampson [Dili] (00:55:13): Dili, not in a great place. Am I at the stairs part of the corridor where we first met our- Daniel [GM] (00:55:21): You could be at the door to get out of this room. Sampson [Dili] (00:55:23): At the door, okay. Dili started calling up, "Guys, hurrics! Hurrics are here." Hopefully that will get to Nix and Atalia and Stannis. Daniel [GM] (00:55:33): Well, Nix and Atalia, give me a perception roll. Your target is 12. Marietta [Atalia] (00:55:39): I'm trained in listening and perception. That's a 16. Stace [Nix] (00:55:43): Five. Daniel [GM] (00:55:46): Okay. Atalia, you think you hear Dili's voice kind of faint calling up from down the corridor or beyond the bridge saying there are hurrics in here. Marietta [Atalia] (00:55:56): What? And I'll turn my head, and I think Jeskii will maybe turn and look at the same time too. And we're like- Alex [ChaCha] (00:56:03): Jeskii is with us. Marietta [Atalia] (00:56:05): No, Jeskii didn't go with you. Dili was like, "I don't need Jeskii." No regrets. Sampson [Dili] (00:56:11): That was not the tone. That was that not the- Daniel [GM] (00:56:13): Yeah, he was like, "Fuck that pooch. I'm good." Stace [Nix] (00:56:14): Oh, Dili. Marietta [Atalia] (00:56:16): I don't need that B. Alex [ChaCha] (00:56:18): Oh, Dili. Making bad decisions left and right. Marietta [Atalia] (00:56:22): Hey, Nix, I think that's Dili calling us. I think the hurrics are attacking them maybe. Stace [Nix] (00:56:28): Oh, shit. Marietta [Atalia] (00:56:30): At least, it wasn't very loud, but it sounds like maybe he's in that corridor thing. Stace [Nix] (00:56:35): All right, I'll check it out. Daniel [GM] (00:56:36): Stannis says, "I'll try to see if I can narrow down where the hurrics are." Stace [Nix] (00:56:42): Thanks, Stannis. Daniel [GM] (00:56:43): So she starts working on one of the consoles while I assume the rest of you are headed back. Stace [Nix] (00:56:48): Nix is headed back. I can't speak for Atalia. Marietta [Atalia] (00:56:51): I'll come too if there's nothing further I can garner about the teleportation system by spending more time with the console. Daniel [GM] (00:57:00): Okay. Okay. Alex, roll die and tell me if you get evens or odds. Alex [ChaCha] (00:57:03): Let's see... Even. Daniel [GM] (00:57:06): Okay. So two of the hurrics figure out that the berries are an illusion. When they turn around, one starts heading in the direction of Dili. The other one is going to come up and try to do a chomp on you. So please make a nine speed defense roll. Alex [ChaCha] (00:57:21): 17. Daniel [GM] (00:57:21): Okay. So you dodge his chomp, and then give me another speed defense role of three as its automaton copy tries to bite at you. Alex [ChaCha] (00:57:28): Nine. Daniel [GM] (00:57:29): Okay, cool. So you have dodged both of those attacks. Then the other one is chasing towards Dili. It can't attack this round, so it's just going to keep going in its direction. And now it is ChaCha... Well, actually, it's not that far, so Nix and Atalia give me initiative rolls. Marietta [Atalia] (00:57:53): 12. Stace [Nix] (00:57:54): Seven. Daniel [GM] (00:57:55): Okay. So, Nix and ChaCha, one of you goes next, depends which one of you wants to go. Alex [ChaCha] (00:58:01): Whatever. Stace [Nix] (00:58:02): I feel like ChaCha is already in the situation, so she would probably... Daniel [GM] (00:58:06): Okay, so it's ChaCha's turn. There are two of these critters that have tried to... Well, one of these critters has tried to bite you, two others still are buying into the illusion, and one and its automaton copy are chasing after Dili. What would you like to do? Marietta [Atalia] (00:58:20): I thought I already exploded the one chasing Dili? Daniel [GM] (00:58:24): You killed one chasing Dili. There's another one chasing Dili now. Marietta [Atalia] (00:58:30): Okay. Which one did ChaCha previously... So ChaCha killed one, but she also wounded another. Which one is that? Daniel [GM] (00:58:38): You killed one. That was the same one you wounded before. Dili did not wound any of them. So there was one still after these illusionary berries. Sampson [Dili] (00:58:47): Quick note about the illusion, that would have dispersed once I was out of range. Daniel [GM] (00:58:52): Oh, shit. Okay. Well, so technically there's one more coming after ChaCha. So, ChaCha, please make a nine speed defense roll. Sampson [Dili] (00:59:00): Sorry, ChaCha. Alex [ChaCha] (00:59:01): 19. Daniel [GM] (00:59:02): Okay. I would say since you got a 19 it would make sense that you've just dodged the other ones. So there's two of them coming at you, but they're missing you. Alex [ChaCha] (00:59:13): So I guess ChaCha will start firing on the ones that are trying to kill her. Daniel [GM] (00:59:18): Okay. I assume the real hurrics are your target? Alex [ChaCha] (00:59:21): Yes. Daniel [GM] (00:59:22): Okay. So give me a six speed. Alex [ChaCha] (00:59:27): 11. Daniel [GM] (00:59:27): Okay. So it took some damage. It does not like that. Okay. Next up is Nix. Nix, you were coming down the corridor. You see Dili there, and you see a hurric and an automaton hurric copy coming up behind him. Stace [Nix] (00:59:41): Oh, are they in immediate range or... Daniel [GM] (00:59:43): For giggles, let's say it's immediate range. Stace [Nix] (00:59:45): Are either of them apparently injured? Daniel [GM] (00:59:48): No. Stace [Nix] (00:59:49): Nix is going to go for the live one. Daniel [GM] (00:59:51): Okay. Stace [Nix] (00:59:53): And what is the difficulty straight up? Daniel [GM] (00:59:57): Nine. Stace [Nix] (00:59:58): So Nix will bite it, or attempt to bite it, so that that's hindered. Stace [Nix] (01:00:03): Bite it, or attempt to bite it, so that that's hindered as an attack, but it's an unarmed attack, which Nix is trained in, so that should stay a nine. Then- Daniel [GM] (01:00:12): That should stay a nine, yeah. Stace [Nix] (01:00:12): It might, for this? Daniel [GM] (01:00:14): Yes. Stace [Nix] (01:00:15): Yeah, fuck it. Then, two levels of my effort. Three. Five. Daniel [GM] (01:00:23): Okay, so you bite into this thing. It doesn't like that. Your poison injures it, and it definitely droops a bit. Stace [Nix] (01:00:32): It takes seven. Daniel [GM] (01:00:33): Seven points of damage, okay, so you kill this live one, actually. What does it look like as you bite it to death? Stace [Nix] (01:00:42): The hide looked tougher, or the shell, or whatever it's got, looked tougher than Nix expected, so she really chomped, and instead, she just tore an entire chunk of this thing's neck out, and, I assume, swallowed. Daniel [GM] (01:00:56): Yeah. Also, these are wooly insects, even the babies, so you come up with this huge tuft of wooly fur between your teeth. Yeah. Stace [Nix] (01:01:06): It's in her teeth. Then, Nix would like to use successive attack. That's two speed, or one speed, for me. That is, I get to attack a second foe as part of the same action upon killing an enemy, but for ... Daniel [GM] (01:01:22): Okay. I will say this, the automaton does droop as soon as the real [horac 01:01:28] dies. Stace [Nix] (01:01:29): Okay, well ... Daniel [GM] (01:01:31): I would totally give it to you, cinematically, except I already established earlier in the scene that that's what that happens. Stace [Nix] (01:01:36): The delay is pretty tight? Daniel [GM] (01:01:39): Yeah. Stace [Nix] (01:01:39): I mean, yeah. You know what I mean. Okay, yeah, no worries, and she wouldn't use it. God. Soon, though, Daniel. Well, actually, it can be ranged, or it can be melee, so Nix could attack one by ChaCha with her [crosstalk 01:01:55]- Daniel [GM] (01:01:54): Yeah. Okay, so you attack one of the ones by ChaCha, the live one, I assume? Stace [Nix] (01:01:59): Yeah. Daniel [GM] (01:02:00): Okay, so that is a nine. Stace [Nix] (01:02:03): Medium ranged, I'm trained, so that's a six. Daniel [GM] (01:02:06): If it's medium ranged, say, yeah, a six. Stace [Nix] (01:02:09): Then, I'll take a level of effort. Daniel [GM] (01:02:11): Okay, so that brings it down to a three. Stace [Nix] (01:02:16): I want to spend that XP that Sampson gave me. Alex [ChaCha] (01:02:23): To not brain ChaCha? Stace [Nix] (01:02:26): I got a 17 this time. Daniel [GM] (01:02:28): Okay, so that's plus one damage. Stace [Nix] (01:02:30): So, five. Daniel [GM] (01:02:33): One of them gets hit, and it is very upset. Next up is Dili. Dili, you are free of any horacs or automatons, because Nix just slaughtered the one that was next to you. Sampson [Dili] (01:02:46): Man. Well, now that Nix is here, everything's fine, so Dili's going to slow down, and, I guess- Daniel [GM] (01:02:51): Man, this would be a really great opportunity for a caustic storm. Too bad you don't have it. Stace [Nix] (01:02:55): Because all your friends are right here. Sampson [Dili] (01:02:56): Shit. I'll just have to make one. Marietta [Atalia] (01:03:04): Atalia touches her face. Sampson [Dili] (01:03:09): Now that Nix is here and fucking one-shot it, Dili's going to slow down on the steps, and, I don't know. Daniel [GM] (01:03:15): I mean, you're a short distance away from any remaining horacs. Sampson [Dili] (01:03:18): What's the range on the dart thrower? Short distance? Daniel [GM] (01:03:21): Short distance, yeah. Sampson [Dili] (01:03:22): All right, Dili will use his dart thrower and fire at one of the live horacs. Daniel [GM] (01:03:28): Okay, so since it's a dart thrower, it'll be a six. Sampson [Dili] (01:03:32): 14? Daniel [GM] (01:03:33): Okay. Were you shooting at the wounded one or the one that has not been touched? Sampson [Dili] (01:03:37): I'll go for the wounded one. Daniel [GM] (01:03:41): It does not like getting a dart in his side. Sampson [Dili] (01:03:43): Reasonable. Daniel [GM] (01:03:45): Next up is the creatures. One is going to make a snap at ChaCha. ChaCha, please make a nine speed defense roll. Alex [ChaCha] (01:03:57): 17. Daniel [GM] (01:03:58): Nice. Then, make a three speed defense roll as its copy tries to do the same thing. Alex [ChaCha] (01:04:05): Six. Daniel [GM] (01:04:06): Nice, okay. The other live horac is going to try to bite at ChaCha, as well, so that'll be a nine speed defense roll. Alex [ChaCha] (01:04:17): 11. Daniel [GM] (01:04:18): Then, dodge a three as its automaton tries to copy it. Alex [ChaCha] (01:04:23): 11. Daniel [GM] (01:04:23): Okay, so you dodge both of their attacks. Now, it is Atalia's turn. Atalia, you can see these critters a short distance away. You saw Nix just slaughter the one that was next to Dili and fire off a, using her sling rocks, at one of the ones that was attacking ChaCha. One of the live ones that's attacking ChaCha is injured. The other one is uninjured, and there are two uninjured automatons. Marietta [Atalia] (01:04:49): I will do damage to the one by ChaCha. I guess I will do an onslaught. Daniel [GM] (01:04:57): They're both there, so are you attacking the wounded one or the unwounded one? Marietta [Atalia] (01:05:01): The wounded one. Trying to just get one down. Daniel [GM] (01:05:04): Are you using physical or mental? Marietta [Atalia] (01:05:06): I'll do physical. Daniel [GM] (01:05:09): It'll be a nine. Marietta [Atalia] (01:05:11): This is intellect? Daniel [GM] (01:05:12): Mm-hmm (affirmative). Marietta [Atalia] (01:05:13): 13. Daniel [GM] (01:05:14): Okay, so what does it look like when you kill that one? Marietta [Atalia] (01:05:18): I think it's just like a beam of darkness shoots out from Atalia's hand, and I think it goes straight through its head, and it just falls over, dead. Daniel [GM] (01:05:29): Cool. Its automaton, of course, also goes dormant when that one dies, okay? Next up is ChaCha. There is one of these critters and its automaton next to you. Alex [ChaCha] (01:05:43): Shoot it with a gun. Daniel [GM] (01:05:44): Okay, that's a nine. Alex [ChaCha] (01:05:46): 19. Daniel [GM] (01:05:48): Minor effect or extra damage? Alex [ChaCha] (01:05:50): Extra damage. Daniel [GM] (01:05:51): That is plus three, on top of four. Okay, so it takes a bunch of damage, and it does not like that. Next up is Nix. There's one live horac left and its active automaton over by ChaCha. Stace [Nix] (01:06:08): Nothing's changed? Range is the same? Daniel [GM] (01:06:10): Range is the same. Stace [Nix] (01:06:11): All right, so Nix will attempt to hit it with her sling. Daniel [GM] (01:06:17): That'll be a nine, and you're trained, so it's a six. Stace [Nix] (01:06:21): 15. Daniel [GM] (01:06:22): Your sling rock is a medium weapon? Stace [Nix] (01:06:24): Yes, so it's four. Daniel [GM] (01:06:27): What does it look like when you kill this last horac? Stace [Nix] (01:06:30): How many eyes does it have? Daniel [GM] (01:06:32): Sampson, roll one D12. Sampson [Dili] (01:06:32): One D12. 12. Daniel [GM] (01:06:38): 12 eyes. Stace [Nix] (01:06:40): All right, so the one that is closest to being in the center, if there is one, just straight through it. You hear a wet, thwacking crunch. Daniel [GM] (01:06:51): It splatters warm mucus all over ChaCha. ChaCha gets rained in warm horac mucus, and then the other automaton goes dead, and you guys are out of combat. You hear over the intercom, [Stannis' 01:07:05] voice comes, and she says, "Guys, okay, I think I've managed to figure out how to find the horacs. That's the good news. The bad news is, well, four of them just died, it looks like, but there's about 35 other ones all throughout the ship. That's where we'll end this episode. Sampson [Dili] (01:07:30): Fuck. Marietta [Atalia] (01:07:31): We've got to go get those statues, and those void stones, and we're going to just have to get the fuck off this ship, and leave it to the horacs, until they starve to death. Stace [Nix] (01:07:41): Yeah. Daniel [GM] (01:07:43): Marietta, something that stuck out for you about Atalia this episode? Marietta [Atalia] (01:07:46): I don't know. Killing something with onslaught is always enjoyable, I suppose. Daniel [GM] (01:07:51): Really nothing else about what Atalia figured out about the ship? Marietta [Atalia] (01:07:55): The teleportation was nice to know that that was a thing. I'd suspected it for a while, so it was like, nice to have one of those suspicions confirmed. No cloaking, though. Come on. Have they not developed that [Romulan 01:08:07] technology yet? Daniel [GM] (01:08:08): No, not yet, unfortunately. Marietta [Atalia] (01:08:11): Bummer. Daniel [GM] (01:08:11): Maybe it was turned out to be inferior to just being really fast. Marietta [Atalia] (01:08:15): True. I wonder what warp speed we're going, really. Daniel [GM] (01:08:19): Pretty fast. I mean, you got from the Dark Hills to Charmonde in an hour and a half. Sampson [Dili] (01:08:25): Yeah. We probably broke a sound barrier or two. Daniel [GM] (01:08:28): Yes. Marietta [Atalia] (01:08:29): We went plaid. Daniel [GM] (01:08:30): Yeah. They've gone to plaid, surrounded by assholes. Daniel [GM] (01:08:38): We have a segment that we do each week called Player Intrusions, where we offer you, the listener, an XP to check out something that we think that you would absolutely dig. This week, it is Stace's turn. Stace, what would you offer our listeners an XP to check out? Stace [Nix] (01:08:53): I would offer our listeners an XP to check out the Legends of the Storm series by Bec McMaster. It's a romance novel series. They're paranormal romances. They're set in semi-medieval Iceland. I'm not really sure what year it's supposed to be. It is a paranormal dragon shifter romance series. There are four books out so far. Stace [Nix] (01:09:18): The first one's Heart of Fire, and it's like an introduction to the world. The worldbuilding's pretty cool. It's plucky village girl who faces off with mean, ancient dreki, which is what they call these ... Dreki are better than dragons, in this universe. Dragons are not as good, so just to be clear on that. Really cool combat battles, and then their romance is hot. Stace [Nix] (01:09:44): Storm of Desire is the second book. It's like a second chance marriage/the heroine is the dreki, the dude is human. There was pretty heavy betrayal, previously. That one wasn't my cup of tea, but it was still very well-written, if that's your thing, like second chance marriage stuff. Stace [Nix] (01:10:04): The third one, Clash of Storms, is a sneaky, quiet, smart heroine. You think she's quiet, but she's really not, and it is a redemption story for one of the villains, at least initially. Yeah. It's actually one of my favorite ones. It introduces some badass characters that are coming in a book that's not out yet. I'm dying. Stace [Nix] (01:10:28): Then, the next one, book four takes a departure. Neither of the two main characters are dreki, shifters. One is a fallen Valkyrie, and one is just a really big human dude. She's a fucking badass and sick as hell. It's a really good story about finding happiness, and then, of course, again, these are all romances. I want to make that clear. Then, yeah, the fifth one comes out in like 2021, and I cannot wait. Alex [ChaCha] (01:10:57): Sounds like exactly what I need to be reading in my life right now. Stace [Nix] (01:11:00): Yeah. I would say, too, Bec McMaster, if you've read her ... No, no, that's Kristin Callahan. My bad. If you've read her steampunk vampire series, I would say the series is, at least to me, better. In her old books, she'd get too close to the consent line for my personal tastes, but in these four, in this Legends of the Storm series, I didn't have that issue at all. They're just really good stories and really well-written, so if you like- Daniel [GM] (01:11:29): Nice. Stace [Nix] (01:11:29): ... romance, you like paranormal romance, you like medieval Iceland, if it's medieval, I don't know. Tell me, somebody on Twitter. Yeah, check it out. Daniel [GM] (01:11:38): Okay. I suddenly was rapidly googling vampire steampunk, because that hit a bunch of buttons for me, but I'm also into strange Nordic stuff, so that would be cool, too. Stace [Nix] (01:11:53): Yeah, it's really cool. It gets into some of the mythology and stuff. Well, I don't know how much because I don't know beyond like Thor, a whole lot, so I don't know how true to ... Daniel [GM] (01:12:04): Right, right, right. Stace [Nix] (01:12:06): ... folklore dreki are, or where is the author's invention, and where is the established folklore, I don't know the line. I don't know where the line is. Daniel [GM] (01:12:15): Cool, cool. Yeah. You gave a great rundown, so I don't really have followup questions, but very cool. If people wanted to reach out to us to tell us what they think of Bec McMaster's books, or what they think of the podcast, or interact with us in general, how would they do that, Marietta? Marietta [Atalia] (01:12:34): Well, the best place to start is definitely our website, which is explorerswanted.fm, where you will find links to everything. We are on the social medias. We're on Twitter, @explorerswanted. We're on Instagram, @explorerswantedpodcast. We're on Facebook as Explorers Wanted Podcast. Then, we have our very own Patreon, which is a great way that you can financially support us if you are able to. We would love to create more content one day. It's a big dream of ours. Marietta [Atalia] (01:13:01): Then, we are most active on our Discord, which is a great way to actually have conversations with us and talk about what you think about the show. There are links to Explorers Wanted Discord channel on all of our social medias and on our website. That is definitely the best way to interact with us. We would love to hang out with you. We want to hang out with you. Yes, you. You, you. Right now, we want to hang out with you. Please come hang out. Daniel [GM] (01:13:23): If you like the podcast, if you enjoyed what you heard today, the best thing that you could do to support us is to tell a friend, and tell them what you liked about the show, and why they should listen to us. The second best thing you could do is leave us a five-star review on a podcast directory, specifically Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Podchaser. Those three make the biggest difference in us finding an audience. Daniel [GM] (01:13:51): When people are looking for podcasts, those written five-star reviews make a ton of difference, as far as whether or not they decide to give it a try. We actually have another new five-star review on Apple Podcasts. What's that, Stace? Stace [Nix] (01:14:06): Yeah. Issun 86 from the US of A titled their review Friendly Introduction. A fun and humorous introduction to the world of Numenera. Equally a show about adventure, found family, and exploration. Great all around. Daniel [GM] (01:14:22): Awesome. Yeah. I love to hearing that. Yes, if you love the podcast, leave us reviews like that. It makes a huge difference. If you didn't like the podcast for some reason, if you felt it was just meh, or something like that, then they say time heals all wounds, so give it some time. In a way, it's true that time heals all wounds, but more accurately, time gnaws. It chews. Once its done, those old wounds won't be recognizable anymore, and honestly, neither will you. Daniel [GM] (01:14:59): If you want to reach out to us individually on social media, you can. You can find me on Twitter, @andrlick, A-N-D-R-L-I-C-K. Stace [Nix] (01:15:10): You can find me on Twitter, @StaceWindu. Sampson [Dili] (01:15:10): Talk to me about video games, like Blasphemous, @SlamPotato. Alex [ChaCha] (01:15:14): You could join me on the dark side with, dun, dun, dun, dun, Animal Crossing still, @realteaunicorn. Marietta [Atalia] (01:15:25): You can tell me mages or templars, Dragon Age, @imonahike on Twitter. Alex [ChaCha] (01:15:30): Always mages. Marietta [Atalia] (01:15:31): Always mages. Daniel [GM] (01:15:32): Always mages. Sampson [Dili] (01:15:32): What's a Dragon Age? Marietta [Atalia] (01:15:33): What? Stace [Nix] (01:15:36): Rarely, if ever, mages. Mages on the third playthrough, maybe. Daniel [GM] (01:15:41): Wow. There's a lot to unpack, there. Alex [ChaCha] (01:15:41): I bet you liked Solas. Stace [Nix] (01:15:47): No, I did not. Do not come at me with that. Marietta [Atalia] (01:15:50): I have Solas fan art printed. It's fine. Daniel [GM] (01:15:57): That's it for us. Hope you enjoyed the show. We'll be back next week, as we will be for every week in the foreseeable future. Have a good night, day, afternoon, weekend, holiday that you are listening to this, and bye. Alex [ChaCha] (01:16:13): Bye. Stace [Nix] (01:16:13): Bye. Marietta [Atalia] (01:16:13): Bye.
