It’s that time of year, especially for most Americans, to give thanks. Despite the admittedly troublesome history, I can’t hate the concept of a holiday that exists to gather with friends and family, eat foods that we don’t normally get, and take a moment to count our blessings. In keeping with my past Thanksgiving posts (the joy of having a regular Thursday update schedule for over five years), I’m going to be talking about things I’m grateful for. It’s hard to do these without sounding like I’m humble-bragging, so if that’s not your thing, I’ll catch you next week. 8 Things I’m Thankful for: My friends (in person and online) and family For loving me, even when we don’t see eye-to-eye. For listening to me and being supportive of my dreams. Also — my family seeing doctors and taking care of problems before they become emergencies I’m not going to go into details here, but make sure you get yourself checked out. And if your doctor doesn’t listen, best wishes that you find one that will. My online writer support friends I don’t think I can list you all here, but Sako, Doc, Sara, Keith, Merlin, and Sarah are probably the ones I talk to the most. But, everyone from the Flip Side, Sarah’s friday night stream, my local NaNoWriMo discord group (especially my fav late night writers! Kaehn, Washwords, Jennifer, Atha, Kaida, Tammy, our NoVa liaisons Rennrat and MavinMaverick!) Alex, Paperfury (cause I reblog you all the time), Chris of Writing About Writing, Elle, omg… this list is too long already. There are too many of you out there. Past-Morgan for not deleting last year’s failed attempt at a space fantasy. I keep finding more and more words I can reuse. At the current tally, my current NaNoWriMo with the bonus re-used words will be just shy of 80,000 words at the end of the month. The story is nearing its end and 80,000 is just barely long enough for an adult speculative fiction manuscript. My dayjob It does more than pays the bills, and is filled with great, supportive people I want to keep up with My house It was an amazing shelter during quarantine, and just continues to be good to me (despite a recent leak). Catticus For giving me so much love and affection, even if I’m too busy to play several times a day. Sleep Something I get far too little of during NaNoWriMo. I can sleep when November ends! I know I have many blessings, and you are one of them. Thank you for your support. Thank you for sharing me with your writer-friends. And stay safe out there.
