So without any further ado, let's look at the ultimate Christmas movie showdown. And and listen, this episode is dropping early enough that if you're watching here in lifetime, you can go grab this and then you can run this Christmas movie bracket, over the course of several weeks within your program so that students can then vote on what the movie is. And we did this a couple of years ago in our youth ministry, and it was amazing. 00:01:57:00 - 00:02:18:17 Nick Clason | Hybrid Ministry So the theme idea for this is the ultimate Christmas movie showdown, voted on by your students, either on social media, in your program, or both, or with Sidekick Pro and then the dress up. You don't necessarily need any sort of like dress up feature for this. It's really easy. The students vote on it. You then play the movie that the students vote on. 00:02:18:18 - 00:02:40:19 Nick Clason | Hybrid Ministry Like what could be simpler? Idea number two listen, here's the reality. Like, you might not think that you need to do anything with social media. You might not even consider it that important. But here's the good news your students, they do. And they live in that world. Like we just had some students create a bar stool of our student ministry account. 00:02:40:19 - 00:02:59:21 Nick Clason | Hybrid Ministry It's like a satire account. It's like a it's like a spam account, but it gets incredible traction and they have incredibly creative ideas. And so my seasonal social media pack is not done by Gen Z or Gen Alpha, right? But it is done with them in mind. And I will help coach you how to start creating a structure and a framework of content. 00:02:59:23 - 00:03:22:01 Nick Clason | Hybrid Ministry Maybe you're not the content creator. That's fine. Hand it over to a student and watch what they can do when you let their creativity be unleashed. And so I will keep you consistent. I'll keep you when when things get difficult. Idea number two is called the Great White Gingerbread Swap. It's a white elephant based get game paired with decorating gingerbread houses. And we actually did this last summer on a national Give Something Away day in July. We did a kind of Christmas in July white elephant thing in my mega guide. 00:04:11:18 - 00:04:30:17 Nick Clason | Hybrid Ministry This entire resource, which is set to be released on D. We put this thing together and so you can use the theme The White elephant and all those things. 00:04:30:17 - 00:04:49:01 Nick Clason | Hybrid Ministry But for food for this one, I would recommend just doing like a cookie bar, right? You already got gingerbread houses, you already got white elephant, you already got this game. Just do something easy. Cookie bar in the back half. Maybe even some of your volunteers or students sign up to bring some. It's a great way to save money, especially if you have donors, volunteers, or students. 00:04:49:01 - 00:05:10:02 Nick Clason | Hybrid Ministry Bring some. You could even judge some of the best desserts, some of the best cookies. And then you want to do this, I will say you will want to do this for the decor side around tables. Because students are going to be swapping their gift as they're decorating the gingerbread house. So it's kind of a mashup of White elephant paired with gingerbread. 00:05:10:03 - 00:05:37:26 Nick Clason | Hybrid Ministry There are links to gingerbread kits. There are ideas for how to do white elephant gifts, especially if students forget, which is very important. Again, all down below in my mega Christmas guide. But idea number three is very simply an ugly sweater competition. And what my programing pro tip for this one is go grab my Mega guide and then use 2 or 3 of the games from section one to kind of build out your programing. 00:05:37:26 - 00:05:57:16 Nick Clason | Hybrid Ministry And then in the meanwhile, just let kids bring and wear ugly sweaters, give away a prize, let them vote via sidekick, maybe for like get 3 or 3, 4 or 5 contestants up there with the ugliest sweaters and then let the students scan the QR code and vote. And then you can give away maybe like a trophy or a prize for them. 00:05:57:19 - 00:06:16:17 Nick Clason | Hybrid Ministry The exact opposite of that is the classy Christmas. And I had done this before at a church. And to just be completely honest with you, I had no desire to do this right. Like the the bonus tip in my little framework for this one, is that I did not want to do this. I'm much more of an ugly sweater kind of guy. 00:06:16:20 - 00:06:34:27 Nick Clason | Hybrid Ministry But begrudgingly, the students asked for it. The leaders asked for it. And so we did it. It was dress up, dressed to the nines like you're going to prom. I wore a suit and a tie. I hated it, it was always our highest attended event. So you need to know your students. You need to know your context, your culture, all those types of things. 00:06:34:29 - 00:06:59:28 Nick Clason | Hybrid Ministry But our students look crazy for. And they invited their friends. And so I really couldn't argue with it if, like, I didn't want to do it, but they would actually bring their friends. That's ultimately the goal. And so do a big Christmas gala, a big, classy Christmas, a Christmas dinner, and just make it happen, man. And then number five is tie in to one of the games, in part one of the Mega Guide do Christmas bingo night. 00:06:59:28 - 00:07:22:27 Nick Clason | Hybrid Ministry So, you play Christmas bingo again? Whatever. And then play this Christmas bingo thing.
