So can you tell us a little bit more in your own words? um cause i Because if I understand, you're kind of like the instigator behind the one that was like, hey, I know all these people online. We should just do a podcast together with me ah not necessarily having done a podcast ah before. So what what what was the inspiration for starting the StoryCrafters and what is it that you do? 00:03:25.82 jeff_rogers_gaming Yeah, so I'll get my stuff out of the way because no one wants to hear what I do and stuff like that. I'm an audio engineer by day. i work for a university and I am one of their audio engineers, so I run all of their concerts, studio recordings, things like that. 00:03:43.77 jeff_rogers_gaming And I also am the dad to an amazing five-year-old. But yeah, so that's a little bit about me in Virginia Beach area. So grew up like so surfing and skateboarding and all that stuff, but lover of fantasy, Lord of the Rings. I remember being one of my first like loves as a kid. 00:04:15.13 jeff_rogers_gaming um so that was that just kind of stuck with me all throughout the years i'm a major like a major star wars fan um if you if you do follow my instagram you've probably seen a lot of star wars minis that i paint um but uh yeah so it's just like i've always just loved fantasy themes um so inevitably dungeons and dragons was in my future at some point and covid was when it all just kind of fell into place for playing dungeons and dragons um But for the story crafters... 00:04:47.93 jeff_rogers_gaming we it was it was kind of like I had started to take my Instagram a little bit more seriously um I like deleted a lot of my like personal posts and things like that and kind of just started to make it more of a painting and D&D style page um and this was this was kind of like at this if if you guys remember probably about two and two years ago or so there was like a big up and coming for like new Instagram people especially in like the D&D world um like 00:04:58.29 Kurt Crenwelge Mm-hmm. And that's kind of where I wanted the podcast to go, which is kind of why it feels the way that it does. I got nothing else to do. you know um And then eventually we started moving out over to his house. And then I'll bring out a physical thing that took me far too long to build for what it was. And yeah, we had a ah little crossroads. 00:19:27.54 jeff_rogers_gaming like, bandit attack type thing um that was just supposed to be a one-shot, and then my friend who, I think he played once or twice, he goes and he um heals, because I didn't know you could do this, because I'm thinking, oh, the character died, you know, cure wounds won't do anything, but no, he was just really unconscious, and I didn't know the difference at the time. 00:19:49.83 Kurt Crenwelge Mm-hmm. And that just kind of broke something in my brain that was like holding me back from understanding what a campaign meant. 00:20:03.29 jeff_rogers_gaming Because I was like, wait, you just changed my ending to this one shot. And now I want Flick to be in another episode. So then i like on the fly, like changed the ending that I had from this like very solidified ending to this very open ended like dragon roar like you see in the distance type thing. um Which then I ended up keeping three of those guys in my campaign for the first one. And so then we obviously kind of roughly not, and we don't have to, we're not going to plan an entire side quest, but when the players get this mission and they go off and do it and they come back successful to Danvers Stargazer, how is Danvers Stargazer going to reward the party? 01:00:53.78 jeff_rogers_gaming but Lots of merch. And she very keen in her keen mind and with her keen ways was able to match the a loyal, the loyalist, goodest boy for life spell the necromancer who is certainly most certainly on his way to his ultimate life goal of getting his own army of skeleton bros. 01:15:09.43 Kurt Crenwelge Um, he now has bones B who is a Clifford sized undead dog. So he has been triumphantly riding on the back of Bonesby. 01:15:22.55 Kurt Crenwelge And, of course, in tow with him, he has his faithful manservant, Octavius, ah the manservant. He has Get Over Here, who is the big minotaur skeleton, who's like the pack mule with a big chest on his back. 01:15:35.80 Kurt Crenwelge We, of course, have Slippin' Jimmy, who is a bugbear skeleton with an arcane arm for one of the skeletal arms instead of a skeleton arm. 01:15:44.25 jeff_rogers_gaming Yeah. dope 01:15:45.05 Kurt Crenwelge And then there also happens to be a ah dwarven skeleton in tow with them as well, um which I believe, if I'm not mistaken, was Bonebreaker. 01:15:56.60 Kurt Crenwelge I think was what the name he came up with for that skeleton. He's of course acquired a lot of skeletons at this point. um So, you know, he has to try and name them to keep them straight ah because even as an old man, he'll, his mind will wander and he'll, he'll forget the the names of his good pros. But, 01:16:15.85 Kurt Crenwelge Suffice it to say, he's been having a wild time on his adventures, writing Bonesby majestically ah like the never-ending story, just fist constantly in the air going, yeah, while Bonesby is charging across the countryside, sniffing with his undead nose for more skeletons. But of course, it's late in the day. 01:16:38.17 Kurt Crenwelge They are tired. And the last two taverns they've stopped at have refused service because of the size of Bonesby, much to their chagrin. 01:16:51.35 Kurt Crenwelge But they come across the ivories. Bones, skeleton, ivories. That seems to strike life spell pretty well the right way. So he's like, yes, I think this will be the place. This is the place for us. 01:17:05.27 Kurt Crenwelge So they dismount off of Bonesby and he tells Bonesby to sit. And Bonesby sits down on the ground and he's a very good boy. And so then they all walk in inside the tavern, the ivories. 01:17:17.08 Kurt Crenwelge And as they enter inside, what is it that they see? Describe the inside of this tavern to me. 01:17:25.62 jeff_rogers_gaming So as they walk in, they they see directly in front of them. It's kind of like a... ah ah a dark wood brown wood tavern got a little bit of that red crimson in the the wood a little bit there on there there's um torches on about every other panel lining kind of illuminating and in between those torches um are various artifacts that uh the town that the tavern um 01:17:56.95 jeff_rogers_gaming owner has collected over time um he's particularly on the the to the left of the tavern as you walk in is the the hearth that the flames it's just huge roaring fire and on the top of it is a ah larger than average um uh beholder tooth um on the ground for on the wood floor there's uh ornate carpets but they're kind of like eclectic looking like they look really nice but kind of like seventy s style but like purples and blues and it's a little bit weird it's a little funky because then just to remind you that you're in the fae rel the fae wild you know so things are a little bit weird um 01:18:30.07 Kurt Crenwelge Mm. 01:18:40.05 jeff_rogers_gaming There's some paintings that look really beautiful from afar, but as you get closer to them, you realize that they're all like paint-by-numbers, starry night-style paintings that they just get weirder the closer you get to them. 01:18:57.53 jeff_rogers_gaming and ah But there's just this smell of wonderful honeymead and lavender, different types of drinks and beverages, or beverages are drinks, foods and ah breads, all sorts of just great smells around the air. Yeah. 01:19:15.70 jeff_rogers_gaming Yeah. 01:19:17.52 Kurt Crenwelge And where is it that we see, Danver currently? 01:19:22.96 jeff_rogers_gaming Danver at the moment is, he's just behind the bar, just, it's kind of a quieter night, nothing, he's just kind of cleaning a glass, doing the the classic bartender, you know, waiting for you to tell me your problems type deal. 01:19:41.46 Kurt Crenwelge And is it pretty packed or is it sparsely populated in there today? Mm-hmm. 01:19:45.68 jeff_rogers_gaming Uh... 01:19:46.46 Kurt Crenwelge and there today 01:19:48.41 jeff_rogers_gaming As I'd say, it's a ah decent enough crowd to keep things comfortable, but not too quiet to where it's a little concerning. You know, it's just that nice, comfortable, you got a couple locals, maybe some new people, but you know that you're going to be all right for the day. 01:20:04.44 Kurt Crenwelge Yeah, Lifespell is taking a look around. Of course, even though he's rolling deep with skeletons, thanks to some help and advice from people along the way, he's done a fairly decent job of like covering up all his companions. 01:20:19.96 Kurt Crenwelge So they have like cloaks and robes and masks and obscuring items to really hide the fact that there are skeletons walking with him. ah You know, aside from like maybe a jerky movement or a clattering noise as they shuffle about. 01:20:35.89 Kurt Crenwelge um But yeah, I think he's currently get over here. The Minotaur skeleton is currently holding him up right now, so he's not having to walk as hard. Yes. sir Ah, this seemed. Oh, teeth. Oh, teeth up of skeletons. He, shoots out his little gnome hand and shake it because that's the method upon which you agree upon doing a side quest and he's like all right well um yes so uh bonesby needs to be lodged he's a good boy and he starts going through like a whole very super detailed laundry list of like every single thing that you need to do to take care of this dog 01:27:41.66 Kurt Crenwelge ah and then he's And then he's just like, right, well, now that you've got all those instructions down, he looks at his his crew. We've been, we tried two other taverns before we found this one. So I'm i'm quite tired.
