Day 4 - John 1:14-18 Today is January 4, I’m Nick and it is a pleasure to be here with you today. Each day, we follow a simple rhythm:
Slow down…
Read…
Notice…
Reread…
Meditate…
Respond…
and Exercise, take a small step to live out what we’ve heard. It’s a moment to pause, breathe, and meet Jesus in His Word — so He can shape our hearts and guide our day. Let’s begin. Slow Down We carry so much around every day: financial worries, relational stress, anxiety about the future, pressure to succeed. Now is the time to set those things down for a few minutes and enjoy some time with Jesus. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it. Repeat this three times. As you inhale, whisper in your heart: “God is near.” As you exhale, pray: “Near to me.” Do this three times, ask God to speak to you, then sit in silence for a few moments. When you are ready, begin to read. Read So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son. John testified about him when he shouted to the crowds, “This is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘Someone is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.’ ” From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another. For the law was given through Moses, but God’s unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us.   (John 1:14–18, NLT) Notice What are you hearing from God? What stands out to you in this passage? Is there a word or phrase that catches your attention? Write it down in your journal or here. Reread Let’s read the passage again slowly, being mindful of what God is wanting you to hear from Him. Meditate I once thought of God as far off and distant from us. I thought that He stood at a distance and watched for me to mess up, and when I did—zap! However, the more I get to know the God of the Bible, I see a good God who came near to us and, from His abundant love, gives us one gracious blessing after another. Take a few moments to reflect on this truth:
God came near to us and revealed Himself to us. Respond Thank you God for revealing yourself to me… Exercise The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits. Habit: Carpool Karaoke Worship
Listening to music while you are driving somewhere is a time-honored tradition, as is singing along to a favorite song. Today, make your commute a time for worship. Pick out a worship playlist and sing along in worship to God. Don’t worry if you can’t sing—God doesn’t care what you sound like; He just wants your worship. The goal is to worship God while you make your commute to wherever you go. That’s your two minutes with Jesus for today.
Now, take what you’ve heard… and live it. Whether it’s a prayer in the moment, a smile to light someone’s world, or a helping hand —
let God’s Word shape your steps. Remember, discipleship isn’t just something we learn…
it’s something we live. Until next time,
keep slowing down,
keep listening,
and keep walking with Jesus.
