Day 6 - Luke 1:46-56 - God Notices the Humble Today is January 6, I’m Nick and it is awesome to be here with you today. Each day, we follow a simple rhythm:
Slow down…
Read…
Notice…
Reread…
Meditate…
Respond…
and Exercise, take a small step to live out what we’ve heard. It’s a moment to pause, breathe, and meet Jesus in His Word — so He can shape our hearts and guide our day. Let’s begin. Slow Down Jesus is glad that you are here. He longs to spend time with you. He wants to be in your presence. He loves you! Take a moment to pause, quiet your mind, and turn your attention toward Jesus. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it. Repeat this three times. As you inhale, whisper in your heart: “Oh my soul.” As you exhale, pray: “Praise the Lord.” Do this three times, Ask God to speak, then sit in silence for a few moments. Read Mary responded, “Oh, how my soul praises the Lord. How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior! For he took notice of his lowly servant girl, and from now on all generations will call me blessed. For the Mighty One is holy, and he has done great things for me. He shows mercy from generation to generation to all who fear him. His mighty arm has done tremendous things! He has scattered the proud and haughty ones. He has brought down princes from their thrones and exalted the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things and sent the rich away with empty hands. He has helped his servant Israel and remembered to be merciful. For he made this promise to our ancestors, to Abraham and his children forever.” Mary stayed with Elizabeth about three months and then went back to her own home.   (Luke 1:46–56, NLT) Notice What are you hearing from God? What stands out to you in this passage? Is there a word or phrase that catches your attention? Write it down in your journal or here. Reread Now read the passage again slowly, being mindful of what God is wanting you to hear from Him. Meditate Have you ever thought that God was too busy to think about little ole you? Have you ever wondered if God noticed you? Have you ever wished that God would come through and give you a break? God took note of Mary and invited her into what He was about to do for all people. He brought little ole Mary from nowhere into His story, and we speak of her still today. He did a tremendous thing in her life, and…she sang. God sees you too! He has remembered to be merciful to you and is inviting you into His story. No matter how insignificant you feel, God is at work and He wants to do great things for little ole you. Take a few moments to reflect on this truth: God shows mercy to those who fear Him. Respond God, I praise you for making your home in this world with a little ole poor family in the middle of nowhere… Exercise The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits. Habit: Chew on God’s Word Have you ever wished that chewing gum would keep its flavor longer? When the gum loses its flavor, you keep chewing and hoping that it gets better, but it doesn’t. However, God’s Word never loses its flavor when you chew on it. The more you chew, the more flavorful it becomes. Take time today to chew on this phrase: He has done great things for me. Examples: Instead of scrolling on your phone, think about what great things God has done for you. While your sitting at a stoplight, ponder something that God has done in your life. The goal is to think about God throughout the day. That’s your two minutes with Jesus for today.
Now, take what you’ve heard… and live it. Whether it’s a prayer in the moment, a smile to light someone’s world, or a helping hand —
let God’s Word shape your steps. Remember, discipleship isn’t just something we learn…
it’s something we live. Until next time,
keep slowing down,
keep listening,
and keep walking with Jesus.
