Episode 29 — John 2:1–11 — A Peek at His Glory Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast, I’m Nick and I’m glad to be here with you today. Today is January 29.
Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin. Slow Down You are stepping into a sacred space with the intent of meeting Jesus.
He wants to meet with you and spend time with you. Take this moment to slow down, quiet your mind, and prepare your heart to connect with Him. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it. As you inhale, whisper in your heart: “Jesus, reveal.”
As you exhale, pray: “Your glory.” Do this three times, then sit in silence for a few moments. Read The next day there was a wedding celebration in the village of Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the celebration. The wine supply ran out during the festivities, so Jesus’ mother told him, “They have no more wine.” “Dear woman, that’s not our problem,” Jesus replied. “My time has not yet come.” But his mother told the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” Standing nearby were six stone water jars, used for Jewish ceremonial washing. Each could hold twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus told the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” When the jars had been filled, he said, “Now dip some out, and take it to the master of ceremonies.” So the servants followed his instructions. When the master of ceremonies tasted the water that was now wine, not knowing where it had come from (though, of course, the servants knew), he called the bridegroom over. “A host always serves the best wine first,” he said. “Then, when everyone has had a lot to drink, he brings out the less expensive wine. But you have kept the best until now!” This miraculous sign at Cana in Galilee was the first time Jesus revealed his glory. And his disciples believed in him. (John 2:1–11, NLT) Notice What stands out to you in this passage?
Is there a word or phrase that catches your attention?
Hold it in your heart for a moment. Reread Hear the passage again slowly, being mindful of what God is wanting you to hear from Him. Meditate The phrase that grabs my attention is: “Jesus revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him.” At this wedding in Cana, Jesus pulls back the curtain of Heaven just enough for His disciples to catch a glimpse of His glory.
It wasn’t a grand display in a palace or a dramatic showdown — it was an ordinary moment in everyday life. Jesus met a practical need — providing wine when the celebration had run out.
In doing so, He showed His ability to care for us and provide exactly what we need, exactly when we need it. God often reveals His glory in the same way for us — through His provision in our daily lives.
When He comes through for us, it’s a peek behind the curtain of Heaven, showing us just how glorious He is. The question is: when He provides, do we respond with belief?
Do we let that glimpse of His glory deepen our trust in Him? Take a few moments to reflect on this truth:
God shows His glory by providing for us. Respond Thank You, Lord, for providing for me and revealing Your glory. Help me to respond with faith and trust. Exercise The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits. Habit: Coloring
Coloring is a simple, creative way to relax and connect with God.
It slows your mind, focuses your attention, and opens space for prayer and reflection. I’ve provided a Scripture verse coloring sheet you can download from the podcast page for this episode. The verse is 1 Corinthians 16:14: “Do everything in love.” As you color, think about how this verse applies to your life today.
Let each stroke of color be a prayer — asking God to fill your actions, words, and thoughts with His love. The goal is to create something beautiful that helps you meditate on God’s Word and carry it into your day. Now, take what you’ve heard… and live it.
Until next time, keep slowing down, keep listening, and keep walking with Jesus.
