Episode 20 — Mark 1:7–8 — Pointing People to Jesus Hey everybody, welcome to the Podcast, I’m Nick and it’s a pleasure to be with you today. Today is January 20. Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin. Slow Down Jesus is glad that you are here. He longs to spend time with you. He wants to be in your presence. He loves you! Take a moment to pause, quiet your mind, and turn your attention toward Jesus. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it. Repeat this three times. As you inhale, whisper in your heart: “Oh my soul.” As you exhale, pray: “Praise the Lord.” Do this three times, Ask God to speak, then sit in silence for a few moments. Read John announced: “Someone is coming soon who is greater than I am—so much greater that I’m not even worthy to stoop down like a slave and untie the straps of his sandals. I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit!”  (Mark 1:7–8, NLT) Notice What are you hearing from God? What stands out to you in this passage? Is there a word or phrase that catches your attention? Write it down in your journal or here. Reread Let’s read the passage again slowly, being mindful of what God is wanting you to hear from Him. Meditate My heart is stirred by this passage — I have to point people to Jesus.
There is no one greater, no one more powerful.
He alone can save us.
He alone can give us the gift and power of the Holy Spirit.
Only Jesus offers life in abundance. John’s humility reminds me that my role is not to draw attention to myself, but to direct every gaze toward Him. Take a few moments to reflect on these questions:
Who is my life pointing toward?
Is it pointing to Jesus, or to something else? Respond Jesus, help me to point people to you. Exercise The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred space — but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits. Habit: Seeing Through God’s Eyes
Today, ask God to help you see His image in every person you meet.
Look beyond appearances, beyond differences, and see them as someone deeply loved by Him.
Let this perspective shape your words, your actions, and even your thoughts. The goal is to let God’s love guide the way you interact with others — seeing them as He sees them. That’s your two minutes with Jesus for today.
Now, take what you’ve heard… and live it.
Until next time, keep slowing down, keep listening, and keep walking with Jesus.
