Episode 55 — Matthew 8:2–4 — If You Are Willing Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast, I’m Nick and it’s awesome to be here with you today. Today is February 24, my sister’s birthday. Keep her in your prayers as she is going through Chemo treatments for breast cancer.
Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin. Slow Down Jesus is here.
He’s sitting in your favorite spot, waiting for you to join Him. You have a million things on your mind that need your attention, but right now it’s time to be with Jesus. Set those things aside, relax, and calm your body. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it. As you inhale, whisper in your heart: “Lord, if You are willing…”
As you exhale, pray: “…make me clean.” Do this three times, then sit in silence for a few moments.
Read Suddenly, a man with leprosy approached him and knelt before him. “Lord,” the man said, “if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.”
Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!”
And instantly the leprosy disappeared.
Then Jesus said to him, “Don’t tell anyone about this. Instead, go to the priest and let him examine you. Take along the offering required in the law of Moses for those who have been healed of leprosy. This will be a public testimony that you have been cleansed.”
(Matthew 8:2–4, NLT) Notice What stands out to you in this passage?
Is there a word or phrase that catches your attention?
Hold it in your heart for a moment. Reread Hear the passage again slowly, picturing the man kneeling before Jesus and the moment of healing.   Meditate This man’s life had been defined by his disease. Leprosy didn’t just attack the body — it cut people off from their families, communities, and worship. To be a leper was to live in constant isolation. When he kneels before Jesus, his words are vulnerable and filled with hope: “If You are willing…” He knows Jesus has the power — but does He have the heart? Jesus’ answer is immediate and tender: “I am willing.” With those words, He not only heals the man’s body but restores his dignity and belonging. The touch of Jesus says, You are not forgotten. You are not untouchable. You are Mine. Take a few moments to reflect on this question:
Where in my life do I need to hear Jesus say, “I am willing”? And who around me needs to hear that through my actions? Respond Lord, thank You that You are willing to meet me in my brokenness and make me whole. Exercise The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits. Habit: I Am Willing Today, look for someone who feels overlooked or excluded.
Offer them a simple act of kindness — a conversation, a helping hand, or just your presence.
As you do, silently pray: “Lord, let them feel Your willingness through me.” If this daily devotional is helping you slow down and meet Jesus, would you do one quick thing for me? Your rating and review might be what helps someone else start meeting with Jesus every day. That’s your two minutes with Jesus for today.
Now, take what you’ve heard… and live it.
Until next time, keep slowing down, keep listening, and keep walking with Jesus.
