Episode 209 — Luke 10:21–24 — Divine Reveal

Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast, I’m Nick and it’s so cool to be here with you today.

Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin.

Slow Down
Jesus is glad you’re here. He longs to spend time with you. He loves you deeply and wants to be in your presence.
Take a moment to pause, quiet your mind, and turn your attention toward Him.
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it.
As you inhale, whisper: “Father, thank you for revealing Yourself.” 
As you exhale, pray: “Thank you for letting my eyes see You.”
Do this three times, then rest in silence.

Read
At that same time Jesus was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit, and he said, “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way. 
“My Father has entrusted everything to me. No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” 
Then when they were alone, he turned to the disciples and said, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you have seen. I tell you, many prophets and kings longed to see what you see, but they didn’t see it. And they longed to hear what you hear, but they didn’t hear it.”

Reread
Hear this passage again — and pay attention to what prompted Jesus to pray.

Meditate
Jesus was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit — and He prayed.
That detail stops me every time. Not filled with urgency. Not filled with burden. Filled with joy. And out of that joy, He turns to His Father in prayer.
What prompted this joy? The seventy-two had just returned from their mission. The Kingdom was advancing. And Jesus sees something in all of it that fills Him with delight.
He prays: "Thank you, Father, for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike."
This is how God works. Not through the impressive. Not through the powerful. Through the humble. Through those who come like children — without pretense, without agenda, without the need to already know.
And then Jesus turns to His disciples and says something extraordinary: "Blessed are the eyes that see what you have seen. Many prophets and kings longed to see what you see — but they didn't see it."
Think about that. Abraham. Moses. David. Isaiah. They longed for what you have. They caught glimpses. They saw shadows. But you have the full revelation. You have the cross and the empty tomb. You have the Holy Spirit living inside you.
You have what kings longed for.
Take a few moments to sit with this question:
Am I living with a sense of wonder and gratitude for what I have been given — or have I grown so familiar with the revelation of Jesus that I've stopped being amazed by it?

Respond
Father, thank You for revealing Yourself to me. Thank You for letting my eyes see what kings and prophets longed to see. Help me never to take this for granted. Fill me with the same joy that filled Jesus — the joy of knowing You and being known by You.

Exercise
The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits.
Habit: Counting Your Blessings
Today's habit is an act of deliberate wonder: write down three specific things you can see, know, or experience because Jesus chose to reveal the Father to you.
Not general blessings — specific ones. Things that kings and prophets longed for but never had.
Maybe it's the assurance that your sins are forgiven. Maybe it's the knowledge that death has been conquered. Maybe it's the presence of the Holy Spirit inside you. Maybe it's a specific moment when God showed up in your life in a way you can't explain.
Write them down. Be specific. Let the weight of each one settle over you.
Then sit with this truth: Abraham didn't have this. David didn't have this. Isaiah didn't have this. But you do.
Then pray: "Father, I see it now. I have been given what kings longed for. I have the full revelation of who You are in Jesus. I have the cross. I have the empty tomb. I have Your Spirit. Thank You. Fill me with the same joy that filled Jesus — the joy of knowing You and being known by You. Don't let me grow familiar with what is extraordinary."
Wonder is the natural response to revelation. Let it rise in you today.
