Daniel [GM] (00:30): Welcome to Explorers Wanted. We are a weekly Numenera Actual Play podcast. I will be your humble GM, Daniel Andrlik. With me today is Stace Babcock. Stace [Nix] (00:42): Damn straight I'm with you today. Daniel [GM] (00:44): Alex Finn. Alex [ChaCha] (00:45): But is anybody truly with you? Like metaphorically speaking, are we- Stace [Nix] (00:51): I mean, technically I guess we are hundreds of miles apart. Daniel [GM] (00:55): Yeah. We actually don't have real proof that Alex physically exists yet. Sampson Davis. Sampson [Dili] (01:00): Yeah. I'm curious. I have a theory that she might be two children stacked on top of each other. Alex [ChaCha] (01:06): I've told you before I am John Cena, who's hired the child down the street to record these messages for you. Sampson [Dili] (01:13): I haven't seen John Cena either. Alex [ChaCha] (01:15): Exactly. You can't prove we're not the same person if you haven't seen us in a room together. Daniel [GM] (01:20): And Marietta Jones. Marietta [Atalia] (01:22): Well, the good news is that regardless if Alex is real or not, we are all connected by the one true thing that connects us all, the internet. Alex [ChaCha] (01:31): I thought you were going to say Jeff Bezos. Stace [Nix] (01:33): Or love. Marietta [Atalia] (01:34): Also that, honestly. Daniel [GM] (01:37): The internet is connecting us and I want to say, I love you guys. Stace [Nix] (01:42): Love you too, Daniel. Alex [ChaCha] (01:42): I love you too. Sampson [Dili] (01:44): Aw, sappy. How dare you? Daniel [GM] (01:46): Normalize telling your friends you love them. Alex [ChaCha] (01:48): Yes. Stace [Nix] (01:49): I saw that tweet and I'm trying to do it. Daniel [GM] (01:55): So, who remembers what happened last time? I think I'm going to pick up on Alex. Alex [ChaCha] (01:57): Okay. So the last time, garlic bread is super distracting and then watching your dog eat garlic bread, super also distracting. Stace [Nix] (02:09): And that was the episode. Marietta [Atalia] (02:10): That's what happened for Alex on the last episode. Alex [ChaCha] (02:12): Yeah. That's pretty much my last episode. I watched my dog eat a piece of garlic bread. Not a whole piece, I'm not a monster. What are we- Sampson [Dili] (02:21): You didn't give him a whole piece? You monster. Garlic bread is delicious. Alex [ChaCha] (02:25): Hey, I have to sleep with the garlic farts, so. Okay. What really happened last week on Explorers Wanted in this mind-scape hell? Alex [ChaCha] (02:40): So we ended the episode before that episode with ChaCha talking to the whore, the buddy cop whore, and he was all like, "Oh my God you have to open the door there ChaCha." And ChaCha was like, "Is it a physical door or it is a metaphorical door?" And he was just like, "You'll know the door sweetie. Don't worry about the door." And then we find out that Atalia almost got flesh pups, don't you know. She's just missed that flesh pup little adventure which made Nix's sad. Marietta [Atalia] (03:15): I am okay with that. Alex [ChaCha] (03:17): Nix really loves Turco the Flesh Pup and his adventures. But the rest of us, not so much. So step two to our adventure was, we were going to go find the platform to get into the mystery ship. But first we had to find out that the hueriks they get angry when they're mad and they will eat your hand. So don't you put your hand near their face. But Dili, he made the oh so much clever little sieve to feed the hueriks. So then we realized, "Oh shoot! We don't want to be throwing into the winds when the ship tosses us off because it tossed off Stannis and she was all like, "Ow. My bones. Oh nice bee ma'am. Please help me." She really didn't want the Bee-Man to help her, but he did. Healed her right up there. And so we decided that we, after much debate, decided not to roll ourselves up in the huerik poo. There was a vote. The nos won. Alex [ChaCha] (04:27): So then, after a night and Dili putting on some fancy lids and some fancy handles to the cart, we all got in secret [inaudible 00:04:36] and drove the hueriks up onto a little landing there. And when they came up into the ship, unfortunately the hueriks are no longer with us. Rest in peace hueriks. But Atalia being all sneaky stuff, looked out and decided, "Maybe we won't all die if we get out of this here cart." And we did. No one died, bonus Jonas. And then we get Stannis's little crystals, for her little crystals. And we ended the episode with Nix's mom appearing out of nowhere in her nightgown, just showing the whole neighborhood her nighties saying, "Oh no, they're at the door sweetie." Then we ended. Alex [ChaCha] (05:25): I got caught in this accent and I don't know how to get out. Someone please help me. Sampson [Dili] (05:30): Bravo, holy shit Marietta [Atalia] (05:31): Damn. Sampson [Dili] (05:31): Well done. Well done. It was a bold choice. Alex [ChaCha] (05:35): It was a bold choice. Sampson [Dili] (05:35): But I love that you committed to it. Marietta [Atalia] (05:39): It was really executed to. Man, I was there for it for every moment. I felt very invested. I was also, "Bonus Jonas," man? So many of your little quips. Aw, so good. Here for it. Anyways... Sampson [Dili] (05:51): Instead of doing Christmas episodes or Halloween episodes, we should do one where no explanation we just do Midwestern accents the whole time. Stace [Nix] (05:59): Aren't we talking in Midwestern? Marietta [Atalia] (06:00): Oh so I just talk like I already do? Sampson [Dili] (06:02): Yeah. Marietta [Atalia] (06:04): Perfect. Sampson [Dili] (06:05): Just bring out that motherland voice, you know? Marietta [Atalia] (06:07): I'd like some milk please. Alex [ChaCha] (06:10): Oh, don't you know there that's a boat, that Stacey down the street has. It's a lovely boat to go on the lake. Marietta [Atalia] (06:16): Oh, let me just sneak around you. Alex [ChaCha] (06:20): Oh, let me just sneak on right by. Sampson [Dili] (06:21): Atalia just sneaks right past them, don't you know? Alex [ChaCha] (06:26): Oh, don't you know? They just sneak on right past there. Marietta [Atalia] (06:30): Just going to sneak on by you there. Sampson [Dili] (06:33): [inaudible 00:06:33] and then just take off, eh? Marietta [Atalia] (06:35): Just crack a pop over here. I need a cool one. Alex [ChaCha] (06:38): Just going to pop a squat right here and chew the cud with you. Sampson [Dili] (06:43): Oh no, black pepper is too spicy for me. Alex [ChaCha] (06:46): Oh, is this too spicy there? Marietta [Atalia] (06:47): Okay, anyways. Nix's mom, what are you doing here? Sampson [Dili] (06:52): Yeah. This is a podcast now. Daniel [GM] (06:55): Yes. So Nix, you have just seen your mother appear, and look confused, and then in her nightgown look at you and say, "Nix, they're at the door." And then she vanished again. She flickered out. Stace [Nix] (07:07): Nix will run over to where her Mom was and be like, "Mom! Atalia scan it." Marietta [Atalia] (07:11): I'll scan it. Daniel [GM] (07:13): Okay. So Atalia, there is nothing in that corner of particular note but there are traces of a Numenera energy. Marietta [Atalia] (07:25): Is it that energy I detected before? Daniel [GM] (07:30): It's the energy you detected before in Nix's mom. Marietta [Atalia] (07:31): Right. Daniel [GM] (07:32): The one that reminded you of Nix, even though Nix's is slightly different now. Marietta [Atalia] (07:38): I don't sense her but it's that same energy, you remember I explained it to you. It's similar to yours but it's different. It's this weird thing, so I think it's, I don't know but I feel like it's some sort of Numenera energy inside of her that is causing this. But I don't know what that means or if it was a Cypher that did it or what but it's what ever that I told you that I sense before. And it's in you too, but it's just different. It's like a different flavor, it's like she's raspberry and you're strawberry or something, or whatever the Ninth World equivalent is of those fruits. Dang it. Stace [Nix] (08:16): Nix is trying to pay attention and she's just overwhelmed half way in. Marietta [Atalia] (08:22): Atalia is desperately trying to make sense of this and wanting to justify and explain it for Nix so badly. Stace [Nix] (08:29): Thanks dude. I think she's up there at the door and so let's figure out how to fly this thing. And Nix is going to recklessly search for some sort of cockpit or... Marietta [Atalia] (08:43): Yeah can we find wherever the controls might be? Alex [ChaCha] (08:46): Yeah, ChaCha would like to help. Daniel [GM] (08:48): So there is a room in front of you with a door that leads forward and to the left. Stace [Nix] (08:54): That's where Nix goes. Daniel [GM] (08:55): Okay. So from that room, this is the room with the ice sculptures, where are you going from there, the door that goes forwards or to the left? Stace [Nix] (09:02): Are they hueriks? You said there's six legs and insectoid? Daniel [GM] (09:05): Yeah. Stace [Nix] (09:06): They are hueriks? Daniel [GM] (09:08): Those are huerik, well no the sculptures are not hueriks. Stace [Nix] (09:11): Okay. Are you saying "hueriks" like there is a vowel there? Marietta [Atalia] (09:14): Yeah, how is it spelled? Can you spell it for everyone? Daniel [GM] (09:17): Yeah. It is H-U-E-R-I-K. Stace [Nix] (09:22): Oh, shoot. I thought it was like her. Sampson [Dili] (09:25): So I've been writing down herc. Marietta [Atalia] (09:27): Wow that's... Yeah it was just H-E-R-K in my notes. Herk. That's the Midwestern pronunciation. Stace [Nix] (09:37): Boy do I really know how to leech the tension out of a scene. So Nix is going to go, I guess she really doesn't have a clue so, onward. Straight ahead. Daniel [GM] (09:46): Okay. Going straight ahead. You see a room. There are three different doors leading out in the same direction on the far side. And in the middle of the room you see a wide metallic urn where blue crystals seem to bubble, emerge, and waft into the air before they burst. Marietta [Atalia] (10:11): Can I Understand Numenera? Daniel [GM] (10:13): Sure. Give me an... Marietta [Atalia] (10:13): Ooh! Can I scan it? Daniel [GM] (10:13): You can. Marietta [Atalia] (10:16): I'm going to scan it. Daniel [GM] (10:21): Okay. Sampson [Dili] (10:21): Make jokes but scan is fucking OP. Marietta [Atalia] (10:24): I'm just scanning everything these days, sorry guys. Daniel [GM] (10:28): Yeah tier two with scan is very dangerous. You can tell this is a Numenera device. It is not that complex. These blue crystals seem to be, that it's expelling and then bursting, seem to temporarily be something that might be either a power source or a source of sustenance. You're not 100% sure. Marietta [Atalia] (10:51): Okay, power source or food. Can I Understand Numenera for what I've seen in the ship to have any sense of where I might go to theoretically find controls? Daniel [GM] (11:06): Well the problem is that you do think you should go forward, but there are now three doors leading forward. Marietta [Atalia] (11:11): So which one has the air smell better for [inaudible 00:11:17] waiting? Alex [ChaCha] (11:18): Wait, what? Sampson [Dili] (11:18): I'm going to high-five you through the Zoom call. Marietta [Atalia] (11:20): You know what I mean? Daniel [GM] (11:21): You would not know that. Stace [Nix] (11:23): Dang it. Marietta [Atalia] (11:24): The wind's going that way. I'll just look around desperately while I let Nix decide. Stace [Nix] (11:33): We always go right, dude. Marietta [Atalia] (11:33): Okay. Sampson [Dili] (11:33): Oh boy. Marietta [Atalia] (11:33): Let's go right. Daniel [GM] (11:37): So you go into the right most front door. Marietta [Atalia] (11:40): Yeah. Daniel [GM] (11:40): Okay? Stace [Nix] (11:40): ChaCha, shouldn't you be opening these doors, dude? Oh wait, no. Did you never tell us? Alex [ChaCha] (11:45): No I forgot. I'm so sorry. Stace [Nix] (11:48): Nevermind. Nix doesn't know that. Alex [ChaCha] (11:52): ChaCha is, though, flinging open every door. Daniel [GM] (11:56): So if you are following Nix's direction and opening the right hand door, you see a chamber that again has one door forward. And there is a cylinder in the middle of the room that looks deep green, almost emerald in color. One of the walls appears a little bit shinier than the others. Marietta [Atalia] (12:15): All right I'm going to scan the cylinder. This is so much better than just going for it. Daniel [GM] (12:24): This cylinder appears to be generating some sort of field that affects with gravitational force. Marietta [Atalia] (12:31): Ooh. Okay this is the gravity controls. Or maybe we're in space-space. Sampson [Dili] (12:37): What? Alex [ChaCha] (12:38): Legit. Legit. Marietta [Atalia] (12:39): This is the gravity control cylinder. Sampson [Dili] (12:42): And you think we're in space? Marietta [Atalia] (12:44): Well I mean, I feel like... Maybe Atalia wouldn't know that but maybe she would? In space that there is no gravity so having some sort of control would be necessary to keep you from floating. Alex [ChaCha] (12:58): I thought you were going to say, "No one can hear you scream," and I was just like, damn. Marietta [Atalia] (13:02): Or maybe also just because of speed, like centripetal force? Like the... Alex [ChaCha] (13:07): Legit. Marietta [Atalia] (13:08): Wouldn't Nanos understand science too, sort of? Or is that just like a bad extrapolation. Is that... I don't know. Nevermind. Okay, moving on. Alex [ChaCha] (13:18): We're all just staring at you like, "Ooh!" Daniel [GM] (13:22): So what are you doing? You've got this room in front of you. Marietta [Atalia] (13:25): So this isn't the control room, is what I'm saying. So we should keep going I think. Alex [ChaCha] (13:30): Daniel, if you give an XP, ChaCha will turn off the gravity. For an XP ChaCha will do that. Daniel [GM] (13:38): Okay I'll remember that. Marietta [Atalia] (13:40): What's up with the shiny wall? Daniel [GM] (13:43): You probably have to look closer. Stace [Nix] (13:44): Nix is actually kind of on a mission, so once Atalia said it wasn't the controls she would've gone through the door. There's only one door, right? One more door? Daniel [GM] (13:52): Yeah there's one door forward here. Stace [Nix] (13:54): More-door. Daniel [GM] (13:55): One door forward. Marietta [Atalia] (13:56): As Nix is leaving I probably will scan the shiny wall, or Understand Numenera it, whichever. Daniel [GM] (14:03): So as Nix moves into the room, you'll notice that it reflects everything in the room except upside down. Marietta [Atalia] (14:12): Oh that's fucking, ooh! Maybe it changes the gravity from, maybe it would put us on the ceiling. Look at the reflections, know their your upside... Can I do an understanding Numenera so that I can see how this connects? Daniel [GM] (14:25): Sure. It'll be 12 to start and I think you have just training, right? So it's nine? Marietta [Atalia] (14:31): Yes. Okay and I'll spend a level of effort. Daniel [GM] (14:34): Okay. Marietta [Atalia] (14:34): That's 18. Daniel [GM] (14:34): Okay. So this wall, it's almost like a mirror except it's deliberately transposing space-time to be upside down. Right now you can only perceive it spatially, but you get the impression from your scan that if you were capable of perceiving time as a separate entity, you would see it skewing time as well. Its overall purpose you don't know. It just seems to be doing that. Marietta [Atalia] (15:05): Wow, that's really... Let's keep going though. That's really fascinating but I'm afraid if we activate this it would change the gravity but I think it might also change time? I know that's like a weird thing, but I think we should keep going. This isn't the control room. Let's go. That's really cool though. Daniel [GM] (15:27): Nix as you cross the room, as you approach the center, you notice that you start floating and there is absolutely no gravity where you are. Stace [Nix] (15:35): Well hell. Atalia there's no gravity in here. Marietta [Atalia] (15:40): Try to swim. Is there anything you can push off of? Towards the other end, towards the door? Maybe there's gravity on the other side. Maybe it's only close to the cylinder that there's no gravity. Stace [Nix] (15:53): What? Sampson [Dili] (15:53): Dili will try walking around the edge of the room, the opposite of the shiny. Marietta [Atalia] (15:57): Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait! Hold the end of this rope. Sampson [Dili] (16:01): Okay. Daniel [GM] (16:02): So Dili as you walk around the edge of the room, as you get to the walls as you go on the far side, you definitely feel lighter in your step but you don't necessarily go completely zero-G. You have some control over how you move. Sampson [Dili] (16:15): Then Dili's going to get to the other side of the room and then kind of drag the rope that me and Atalia have on both sides, so that Nix can grab it. Daniel [GM] (16:23): Okay. Stace [Nix] (16:23): All right, Nix grabs the rope and pulls herself along it. Daniel [GM] (16:27): Okay. As you approach where Dili is, gravity starts to come into effect and you easily slowly bring yourself back down to your feet. Marietta [Atalia] (16:35): Hey ChaCha, you ready? We need to walk around the edge so you don't float, okay. Alex [ChaCha] (16:41): ChaCha runs into the room. Sampson [Dili] (16:43): Hell yeah. Marietta [Atalia] (16:44): Atalia continues holding the rope. Daniel [GM] (16:47): In the center? So ChaCha you are now floating in the room but since you ran in, you have a bit more inertia and so you get very close to the end of this zero-G area. Just roll a d20 for me and tell me if you get even or odd. Stace [Nix] (17:05): Heck yeah. Alex [ChaCha] (17:07): Also ChaCha is trained in swimming, if that helps? Daniel [GM] (17:11): It wouldn't in this case. Alex [ChaCha] (17:13): Even. Daniel [GM] (17:14): Okay so you just barely make it beyond zero-G. You're not able to land on your feet but you do slowly come to a rest laying down on your front. Alex [ChaCha] (17:25): She gives Atalia a thumbs up. Like, yeah! Marietta [Atalia] (17:27): Ah man, guys. Daniel [GM] (17:29): Stannis charges forwards and then leaps through the center and she floats to the other side and she manages to flip herself as she goes and lands on her feet on the other side of the gravity. Marietta [Atalia] (17:46): Oh man, so... Alex [ChaCha] (17:46): Dammit Stannis. Sampson [Dili] (17:46): Dili gives polite applause like, "Oh wow." Marietta [Atalia] (17:50): Okay Atalia has to do it now, like must, she'll take several steps back and she'll keep a hold of the rope though. She doesn't want to leave a rope. So she'll step back as far as she can and she'll take a running leap. She'll motion for Jeskii to come along with her. Daniel [GM] (18:11): Okay. So this will be some sort of might based roll. If you have a skill that you can argue for. Marietta [Atalia] (18:17): I do. I have jumping and balancing. Alex [ChaCha] (18:21): And running free? Daniel [GM] (18:23): So you got jumping? So that brings it down from a 12 down to a nine. Marietta [Atalia] (18:27): I also have Jeskii with me. Daniel [GM] (18:29): Jeskii can't help you with this one. Marietta [Atalia] (18:31): Okay, okay. I'll spend a level of effort. Daniel [GM] (18:33): So that brings it down to a six. Marietta [Atalia] (18:35): Okay, cool. And that's a six. Daniel [GM] (18:38): Okay. Tell us how Atalia jumps through this gravity field and lands. Marietta [Atalia] (18:45): I think she literally runs and jump and dives. I think because it was only a six, I don't think she lands great. I think her hands come down first so she comes down on all fours and stands up and she's not quite as cool but really fun. Daniel [GM] (19:04): I don't know, I mean it wasn't... Your skill that made it less difficult so even though you only rolled a six, maybe you landed on all fours but in like a... Marietta [Atalia] (19:14): Like in a superhero crouch. Daniel [GM] (19:18): You landed in a Spider Gwen crouch. Marietta [Atalia] (19:20): Yes. And then Jeskii lands next to me and I'm like... Sampson [Dili] (19:23): On her toes. Marietta [Atalia] (19:24): ... Let's do a peace sign. Okay anyway, and then Atalia will get her rope back together. Daniel [GM] (19:34): Okay. You guys have solved my gravity room puzzle. Sampson [Dili] (19:39): Yes! How many XP is that? Marietta [Atalia] (19:40): Atalia is super into this. She's so excited, oh my gosh. Alex [ChaCha] (19:43): We all get 50 XP. Marietta [Atalia] (19:45): She's literally just grinning from ear to ear like, "Oh my gosh. All my dreams are coming true right now. Just wait until the next room, when they're all destroyed." Daniel [GM] (19:55): You enter another room. There is one door to the left and this room is relatively empty except for a sapphire wall which seems to, as you're walking through it, reflect your figures but only as silhouettes. Stace [Nix] (20:10): It is controlled, Atalia? Marietta [Atalia] (20:12): Wait, what is this? Stace [Nix] (20:14): A blue wall. Daniel [GM] (20:15): It's reflections of you guys as silhouettes on a sapphire wall. There is a door to the left but nothing else in this room. Marietta [Atalia] (20:23): I guess I'll do a scan but it's not feeling like a control is it? Stace [Nix] (20:30): No. Sampson [Dili] (20:30): Nope. Daniel [GM] (20:31): It is definitely not. Marietta [Atalia] (20:32): Okay, I'll just scan it to make sure we don't trigger something dumb. Daniel [GM] (20:36): It does not appear to be a trap. The mirror seems to be... It's not just reflecting a silhouette. It is taking in your image, doing some post-processing, and turning it into a silhouette and displaying it. Marietta [Atalia] (20:47): Oh, wow. That's cool. So it's like capturing our images and processing it, and then producing the silhouettes. Daniel [GM] (20:54): Mm-hmm (affirmative). Stace [Nix] (20:56): Nix opens the door. Daniel [GM] (21:01): So to the left you find a chamber that appears to be some sort of electrical equipment chamber. If you were taking a right as if you were going the same direction, there's a going door going that way. But in the middle of this room there is a rack of devices that seem to be just blinking there quietly. They seem to be powered by some sort of energy. Their color shifts a little bit from yellow to green to blue. Stace [Nix] (21:31): Atalia, are these the controls? Marietta [Atalia] (21:35): I'll do a scan, are they the controls? Daniel [GM] (21:38): You're going to scan? Marietta [Atalia] (21:38): Yeah. Sorry, I just didn't want to say it again. Daniel [GM] (21:44): These appear to be, in some way, some sort of important system. It's not 100% clear to you. It exerts some control over the ship but it's not a central control over the ship. There are very clear buttons to interact with them, but it's not clear if you control a lot of the ship through here or it's just control over certain systems, like thrust or something like that. Marietta [Atalia] (22:12): Okay. Can I do an understanding Numenera roll to see what it does more specifically? Daniel [GM] (22:18): Sure. So with your training that will be a nine to figure out how to activate the buttons to start working with it. Marietta [Atalia] (22:28): Okay and I'll spend a level of effort. Sampson [Dili] (22:30): Can Dili assist her on this one? Marietta [Atalia] (22:32): Can I use my book about Numenera, too? Daniel [GM] (22:34): You can use your book about Numenera if you're willing to spend 30 minutes reviewing it. Marietta [Atalia] (22:39): Oh, I feel like Nix doesn't have that. So, no. Daniel [GM] (22:42): Okay. Marietta [Atalia] (22:43): Okay, so yeah. That's a 12. Daniel [GM] (22:46): Okay. You were able to activate it and you notice the lights are blinking faster and faster. And all of a sudden there is yellow electricity filling the air there, and I need everyone... Sampson [Dili] (23:00): Shit. Daniel [GM] (23:01): ... To make a might defense roll of 12. Sampson [Dili] (23:05): Dili will spend a level of effort to lower that. Stace [Nix] (23:08): Yeah Nix will spend too. Sampson [Dili] (23:08): Dili gets an 11. Daniel [GM] (23:08): Okay, so Dili is good. Stace [Nix] (23:13): Nix got a four. Daniel [GM] (23:14): So she's affected. Marietta [Atalia] (23:17): Atalia got a seven. Daniel [GM] (23:17): And no effort spent? Marietta [Atalia] (23:20): No. I mean, I only can do one there anyway. Daniel [GM] (23:23): Okay. And what about ChaCha? Alex [ChaCha] (23:27): 19. Daniel [GM] (23:27): Okay ChaCha has got a minor effect. What would you propose as a minor effect? Would it help if I told you what's happening to the other people who failed? Alex [ChaCha] (23:34): Yes. Daniel [GM] (23:35): So, this yellow electricity runs through your bodies and for the next hour those of you who are affected by this get plus one to speed edge. Stace [Nix] (23:48): Damn straight. Marietta [Atalia] (23:52): Oh! Daniel [GM] (23:52): But... Marietta [Atalia] (23:52): Oh. Daniel [GM] (23:53): ... Until you pass another might defense task, you lose three points of speed damage every round. Marietta [Atalia] (23:59): Okay so we have to pass another might check. Sampson [Dili] (24:01): Oh shit. Marietta [Atalia] (24:02): Okay, and can we do that now? Daniel [GM] (24:04): I would recommend you do that now, yes. Marietta [Atalia] (24:06): Okay. Daniel [GM] (24:07): You're going to take three points of speed damage regardless. So take three points of speed damage to start, and then give me another might defense check. Stace [Nix] (24:15): It is armor? Daniel [GM] (24:15): Yeah I would ignore armor in this case because it's this lightening stuff. Stace [Nix] (24:18): All right. Marietta [Atalia] (24:19): I'm going to spend... Can I still do two levels of effort for might if I have zero in edge? Daniel [GM] (24:25): Yeah that's fine. As long as you've got two levels to effort, it would just cost you five points of might to do that. Marietta [Atalia] (24:36): Cool. So what is that then? Daniel [GM] (24:36): Brings it down to a six for you. Marietta [Atalia] (24:36): It's a seven. Daniel [GM] (24:36): Okay. Marietta [Atalia] (24:36): Dear god. Daniel [GM] (24:41): Okay. How about Nix? Stace [Nix] (24:43): 13. Daniel [GM] (24:43): Okay. So Nix is better as well. ChaCha, what would you like to do with your minor effect of a 19? Alex [ChaCha] (24:49): I think ChaCha wants to kind of determine where the lightening is coming from so she can later figure out how to stop it? Daniel [GM] (24:58): So I will give you an asset on understanding the engines of this ship going forward. Alex [ChaCha] (25:04): Okay. Daniel [GM] (25:05): Mm-hmm (affirmative). Nix make sure you mark the three speed damage that you did take though, prior to your defense roll. But, you guys, even though you have escaped the damage part, you still have plus one to speed edge for the next hour. Okay. So I assume you guys are going to take that door forward? Marietta [Atalia] (25:23): Wait, do I understand what happened or what I did wrong? Daniel [GM] (25:29): You can try to make a roll. ChaCha already knows. ChaCha has an asset on understanding engines. Basically, ChaCha what you know is that you guys essentially ended up essentially trying to ask the engines to go into overdrive without actually providing direction as to where that energy should go. Alex [ChaCha] (25:48): Mm-hmm (affirmative). So we accidentally hot wired it wrong? Daniel [GM] (25:55): Right. Marietta [Atalia] (25:56): Oh, okay. Can that be enough for Atalia to understand that then, from ChaCha's analysis? Daniel [GM] (26:01): ChaCha's analysis would lead you to the same conclusion. I don't know if you can figure out more. Marietta [Atalia] (26:07): Okay, cool. I just wanted to make sure that I would also have that information and not just have it be like, question, question, I don't know. Whoops. Daniel [GM] (26:18): So are you guys going to that door to the front? Alex [ChaCha] (26:19): Yep. Sampson [Dili] (26:20): Yes. Alex [ChaCha] (26:20): ChaCha busts through. Daniel [GM] (26:22): You see a room, again, it is a relatively large room. One of the walls is sort of a almost eggshell color but it's still sort of mirroring what it sees. There is a crystal in the center of the room that seems to be relatively complex. And there is one door that seems to be leading forward at the same level, and one door that seems to be connected to a passage leading up. Sampson [Dili] (26:51): Both going forward? Daniel [GM] (26:52): Still going forward, but just going up to another level. Marietta [Atalia] (26:56): And one going down? Stace [Nix] (26:57): Nix will go up. Alex [ChaCha] (27:00): Can ChaCha investigate the crystal? Daniel [GM] (27:02): Yeah. ChaCha as you study the crystal, one of that things that you notice is it produces a compulsive desire to laugh with unexpected pleasure. Alex [ChaCha] (27:12): At ChaCha or generally? Daniel [GM] (27:15): In general, you think it would happen to anybody, but you are definitely laughing right now. Alex [ChaCha] (27:21): Cool. Cool, cool, cool. Marietta [Atalia] (27:22): Having a good time? Alex [ChaCha] (27:24): Don't touch the crystal. Marietta [Atalia] (27:33): So the crystal makes you laugh? Alex [ChaCha] (27:35): Yeah. This sucks. Marietta [Atalia] (27:43): Okay. Atalia will walk around the edge and examine the eggshell wall. Daniel [GM] (27:49): As you're walking you notice that the eggshell wall seems to shift, and all of a sudden it spits out an automaton that looks like ChaCha. And the automaton walks up to the crystal and makes some sort of very distorted version of ChaCha's laughter. RoboChaCha (28:03): This sucks. Sampson [Dili] (28:04): What. Oh. Alex [ChaCha] (28:06): And then the listeners shit themselves. Marietta [Atalia] (28:10): Oh my gosh. What? Daniel [GM] (28:15): I believe Nix was going to the upper door, you said? Stace [Nix] (28:18): Yes. Daniel [GM] (28:19): Okay. So while Nix is going up to the upper door, there is an automaton that is birthed from the wall and it looks like Nix, and it is going to go up the stairs following Nix. Nix, when you open that door, you see a long hallway. And there is still a strange glowing cube that takes up most of the entryway here between you and it. It doesn't look like it's dangerous or anything, but it's there. And this hallway seems to go a good 40 feet forward before it reaches another door. Stace [Nix] (28:55): Is there room to go around the cube? Daniel [GM] (28:57): Yes, it would take some doing but you can do it probably. Stace [Nix] (29:00): I think Nix would examine the cube more closely. Daniel [GM] (29:05): Okay. The cube appears to be made of light, green light. Marietta [Atalia] (29:10): Atalia will go chase after Nix if she realizes that she's just totally not in the room anymore. Daniel [GM] (29:17): Mm-hmm (affirmative). Well Nix is sort of in the threshold. Marietta [Atalia] (29:20): Ah. I thought she had gone up the stairs. Daniel [GM] (29:20): With her automaton a little bit behind her. And as you're running up there, the rest of you see an Atalia shaped automaton get birthed from the wall and then start following Atalia's steps. Sampson [Dili] (29:32): Dili will follow. Marietta [Atalia] (29:33): Is there a Jeskii one too? Daniel [GM] (29:35): There is. Marietta [Atalia] (29:37): Okay, I think Atalia is going to stop and can she understand Numenera or scan this automaton? Daniel [GM] (29:44): You sure can. Marietta [Atalia] (29:45): Okay, I'm going to do that. Daniel [GM] (29:46): It's very unstable but it seems to be deliberately mimicking you and following your motions. But you don't think it will last more than an hour or two. Marietta [Atalia] (29:59): Okay, but it's not malicious? Daniel [GM] (30:02): As far as you know, it's just trying to reflect your movements. Marietta [Atalia] (30:05): Okay. Daniel [GM] (30:05): And in fact, as you're scanning it and staring at it, after a while it kind of moves off and then turns around as if it's staring at the same space. Marietta [Atalia] (30:12): Okay that's cool. As soon as she realizes it's going to immediately kill them or something, she's continue going up and we'll see what Nix is looking at. Stace [Nix] (30:24): The damn cube Atalia. Marietta [Atalia] (30:28): I'll scan it. Daniel [GM] (30:29): Okay, this cube is some sort of Numenera energy. It's part of the ship's systems. Marietta [Atalia] (30:36): Ooh. Daniel [GM] (30:36): But if you had to suspect, it's not deliberately part of the ship's systems. You think it might be something that is stowed away. Marietta [Atalia] (30:44): Oh, so it's like a virus thing. Daniel [GM] (30:48): It just not part of the natural part of the ship. Marietta [Atalia] (30:50): Okay. Daniel [GM] (30:51): It's not getting throw out, it's not doing anything. It just seems to be sitting there right now. Marietta [Atalia] (30:55): Hey ChaCha. Alex [ChaCha] (30:56): Mm-hmm (affirmative). Marietta [Atalia] (30:58): Will you look at this with me and see if we can figure out what it does? Because it's weird, it's not an original part of the ship, but it's connected with the ship. Alex [ChaCha] (31:13): ChaCha takes her mirror buddy by the hand and goes investi-ma-gates it. Daniel [GM] (31:17): Okay. So you come and you look at it with her. Who is leading this Numenera roll? Marietta [Atalia] (31:22): ChaCha already had that asset. Alex [ChaCha] (31:25): Oh yeah. Daniel [GM] (31:25): Yeah, well she has an asset towards the engines. This is definitely not part of the ship. Marietta [Atalia] (31:29): Oh. [inaudible 00:31:30] I can do it. Alex [ChaCha] (31:31): I'm up for anything. Whatever. Daniel [GM] (31:33): So ChaCha is providing you an asset so that brings it down to a nine, and then you have training so that brings it down to a six, and you have the results of the scan which brings it down to a three. Marietta [Atalia] (31:46): Okay. Can I just spend a level of effort? Daniel [GM] (31:49): You absolutely can. If you don't want to have to roll for it, you can. Marietta [Atalia] (31:51): I think I'm just going to do that. Let's do that. That seems great. Daniel [GM] (31:55): This is definitely a stowaway entity. It appears to be just trying to catch a ride, from what you can tell. It has its own sense of consciousness, but you don't think it practically has any needs or wants. It's almost like it's some sort of sentient data sphere program that is relying on physical nanites to move around, and it's just sort of catching whatever ride it can. Marietta [Atalia] (32:25): So is it like a parasite then? Daniel [GM] (32:27): Yeah, except that it really seems to only be gathering, from what you can tell it's hitching a ride. It doesn't necessarily get nutrients or anything like that or take anything from its host. Marietta [Atalia] (32:41): Okay, so it's a hitchhiker though, it's not a parasite. Okay. Daniel [GM] (32:47): As far as you can tell from... Marietta [Atalia] (32:49): Okay. So it's not causing harm to the system. Daniel [GM] (32:52): No. Marietta [Atalia] (32:52): Okay. Stace [Nix] (32:52): Can we walk through it, Atalia, or is it dangerous to us? Daniel [GM] (33:00): Atalia, you think if somebody comes in contact with it there's a chance it may try to hitch a ride with them. Marietta [Atalia] (33:03): Ah. Daniel [GM] (33:04): But it may not. It's impossible to tell its motivation because it appears to have some level of sentience on its own. Alex [ChaCha] (33:11): ChaCha walks through it. Daniel [GM] (33:12): Ooh, boy. Sampson [Dili] (33:14): Oh shit. Daniel [GM] (33:15): ChaCha, the green cube disappears immediately. And ChaCha, you hear little voice in your head and it says, "Ooh, you're new. You've been around." Alex [ChaCha] (33:29): That sounds like you're shaming me for something. Daniel [GM] (33:32): "No, no. I like the fact that you've had a chance to explore more. I've been trapped on this ship for a while. No, I think there's many potentials here. I like to explore. You like to wander, or maybe you just wander, and maybe we can help each other out?" Daniel [GM] (33:53): Alex, behind the scenes what's happening here, ChaCha doesn't necessarily intrinsically understand this. You now have this voice in your head. It may occasionally help you with certain things. It could also hinder you on certain things, it depends what's going on. It has its own sentience but you have now accepted somebody who is going to be riding along in the backseat of your consciousness. Sampson [Dili] (34:21): Holy shit. Alex [ChaCha] (34:22): We just made the unstable character more unstable. Sampson [Dili] (34:26): God. Stace [Nix] (34:26): I was literally just thinking that. Daniel [GM] (34:29): Yep. Alex [ChaCha] (34:29): Yay. Marietta [Atalia] (34:30): Atalia is just staring at ChaCha in horror. She's like, "ChaCha are you okay?" Alex [ChaCha] (34:36): Yeah, just new friends. Every day, new friends. Marietta [Atalia] (34:40): Is it in you? Alex [ChaCha] (34:45): Phrasing. Boom. Anyway, ChaCha keeps going through the hallway. Daniel [GM] (34:53): Okay, because there is that one door on the far side of this hallway. I assume Nix was heading that way too? Stace [Nix] (34:58): Nix would be following ChaCha because she didn't want to walk through the cube. Daniel [GM] (35:04): Okay. So you reach the door and you open it up and you see a large chamber with many consoles here. There is a wall there that kind of glows, and for a moment all you can see is the glow. But then as you focus on it you can suddenly see landscape below you, moving at almost impossible speed from what you're used to. And there are all these, like I said, consoles in front of you, almost like different stations. And I would say Atalia, ChaCha, Dili, it's probably obvious to you guys that you are on the bridge of whatever this ship is. Sampson [Dili] (35:47): All right! Marietta [Atalia] (35:48): My gosh. This is amazing. Sampson [Dili] (35:55): Wow. Marietta [Atalia] (35:55): Atalia thinks, "Okay, I'm going to scan the first console in front of me and see if I can figure out where the controls are, and how this works, and if we can make it work, and all of that." Alex [ChaCha] (36:06): ChaCha goes and starts pushing buttons. Sampson [Dili] (36:08): No, ChaCha! Dili will stop that one. Stace [Nix] (36:11): ChaCha, ChaCha, ChaCha. Alex [ChaCha] (36:13): But she understands the engines. It's fine. Daniel [GM] (36:18): Okay, so Nix and Dili are going to try to stop ChaCha. Okay, so ChaCha please continue to move forward. Make a speed defense roll. Alex [ChaCha] (36:31): Mkay. I'm going to make this a good one, I don't know why. I probably don't want it to be a good one, do I? Okay, let's see. We got us an 18. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Daniel [GM] (36:45): Okay so Dili is helping Nix, so you have a plus three, and it's a might based roll to try to stop her and grab her. Stace [Nix] (36:54): I'll spend two levels of effort. Daniel [GM] (36:56): Okay. So with Dili's help that brings it from, well, that means that you've got a plus nine to whatever you roll. Stace [Nix] (37:04): Trained in unarmed attacks. Daniel [GM] (37:06): Okay. So that's a plus 12 to whatever you roll. Alex [ChaCha] (37:09): God, if you roll under a five... Marietta [Atalia] (37:11): Yeah, please. Stace [Nix] (37:13): 15. Alex [ChaCha] (37:13): Oh thank god. I was just like, what? Is that a face of a one? Daniel [GM] (37:18): That's before your plus, right? Stace [Nix] (37:20): Correct. Alex [ChaCha] (37:21): Good, good, good, good. Daniel [GM] (37:21): Okay, yeah so you guys mange to grab ChaCha before she presses any buttons. Stace [Nix] (37:26): Nix wouldn't so much grab, as insert herself. Marietta [Atalia] (37:29): Just like a hug? Just like a side hug like, "Oh ChaCha, I just wanted to..." Alex [ChaCha] (37:34): Or is it like the parent corral where you just step in front of them like, "Oh, where are you going?" Stace [Nix] (37:38): Yes. Daniel [GM] (37:40): Okay. So because you are doing that and Atalia is doing scan and scan is free for Atalia, I think it doesn't take long for you guys to figure out which parts are engineering monitoring, which parts are helm monitoring, which parts are weaponry. Alex [ChaCha] (38:01): What was ChaCha going to push? Daniel [GM] (38:03): ChaCha was about to push weaponry. Alex [ChaCha] (38:06): Sounds about ChaCha. Marietta [Atalia] (38:08): So as Atalia scans each of the consoles, she'll start describing what they are and explaining it all. And she's also checking to make sure that there is no safety protocol. She's not trying to trigger anything again, a little gun shy after the electric shock. I don't know if I can do an understanding Numenera roll or something for that? Daniel [GM] (38:30): Oh, yeah. At this point you're just figuring out which consoles are responsible for which. Marietta [Atalia] (38:36): Okay. Daniel [GM] (38:37): I wouldn't press any buttons unless you're doing understanding Numenera first. Marietta [Atalia] (38:43): Okay. Yeah, no button pressing. "Yeah, so a little afraid though of you touching the other ones." Atalia will be saying that to them. "I don't know what else to do. Do we just..." Alex [ChaCha] (38:59): I mean you just tell me what to push and I'll push it. Marietta [Atalia] (39:02): Well, instead of immediately pushing, would you maybe come over here to navigation and look at it with me? Stace [Nix] (39:10): Oh. I'm trained in navigation Atalia. Marietta [Atalia] (39:12): Would you come look with me too then? Stace [Nix] (39:14): Yeah. Marietta [Atalia] (39:14): To see if we can understand how this works and not set it off like the other one. Stace [Nix] (39:21): Nix is going to choose to be trained in piloting, with confident outlook. Daniel [GM] (39:24): Interesting. Okay. So Atalia, you're getting ChaCha and Nix to help you with this, right? Marietta [Atalia] (39:32): Yes. Daniel [GM] (39:33): Okay, so that is going to bring it down to a nine. Stannis is coming over and she is looking with a trained eye. This is a special GM benefit, because Stannis is helping you, it's going to come down to a three. Marietta [Atalia] (39:52): Okay. Okay. That's a 17. Daniel [GM] (39:54): You think it's pretty clear how to redirect this towards Charmonde. The problem that you foresee is it's utterly unclear from the helm how this ship is intended to be landed or if it is intended to ever be landed. Alex [ChaCha] (40:12): Plot twist, we still have that parachute backpack. Marietta [Atalia] (40:15): We'll just parachute Nix in. Nix [inaudible 00:40:20] operation, let's execute. I can get us back to Charmonde. I don't know how the landing situation works but maybe we can start heading that way, and I can see if we can figure it out while we're going? Stace [Nix] (40:33): Yeah, that sounds good Atalia. I can get us going in the right direction. Marietta [Atalia] (40:38): Okay. So I'll explain it in detail to Nix, how the controls work and such. Daniel [GM] (40:45): Okay. So Nix, because you took your training in piloting, confident outlook in piloting, because Atalia is helping you, this is going to be a nine. Stace [Nix] (40:56): Okay, 19. Daniel [GM] (40:58): Okay. So you're definitely going to be able to direct it in the direction of Charmonde. What would you propose as a minor effect? Stace [Nix] (41:06): Figure out how to stop it. Daniel [GM] (41:10): Okay, cool. I would say with a 19 you can definitely figure out. You figured out how to stop it. It's not clear how to land it. You can stop it in the air so that it's floating nearby Charmonde, or over Charmonde, but you're not sure how to land it. Stace [Nix] (41:28): Okay. That's fair. Daniel [GM] (41:30): Okay. So you guys being seeing the imagery of the land in front through these views shift and it starts moving incredibly fast. You see Shallamas pass you in almost like a blink. And within an hour and a half you can see Charmonde in the distance. Alex [ChaCha] (41:48): Ooh. Dang. Marietta [Atalia] (41:50): So in that hour and a half, can I be trying to figure out if there's a way to land it? Daniel [GM] (41:56): You sure can. Marietta [Atalia] (41:57): Okay. Daniel [GM] (41:57): So this is going to- Marietta [Atalia] (41:59): Hey, Stannis and ChaCha. And Dili! Dili you know how technology works, right? Sampson [Dili] (42:09): Uh, yes? That's a little vague so I don't want to commit to that one. Marietta [Atalia] (42:14): Okay. Daniel [GM] (42:14): So Atalia, factoring in everything you've got, give me a six. This ship was never meant to land. If you want it to get to the ground, you're probably going to have to crash it. Or jump from it, somehow. Marietta [Atalia] (42:35): Okay. Daniel [GM] (42:37): Will all the stuff that you've got. Marietta [Atalia] (42:39): So there was the teleportation platform. Sampson [Dili] (42:42): That's on the ground, and very far away. Marietta [Atalia] (42:45): Yes, but is there a teleportation mechanism? Daniel [GM] (42:54): Not one that is accessible from the bridge. There is possibly one of the other chambers you haven't explored that might have something like that, but you have no way of knowing one way or the other. Marietta [Atalia] (43:02): Okay and I can't use the databases here to figure that out? Daniel [GM] (43:04): I don't think you would reasonably be able to figure that out in an hour and a half. Marietta [Atalia] (43:08): An hour and a half, okay. Sampson [Dili] (43:10): Hey this is a ship, right? So do they have a cargo manifest? Maybe there's an item in there that we can pilfer and help us out? Marietta [Atalia] (43:18): Yeah, I just need more time to figure it out. The ship is not meant to land on the ground. I think there could be maybe be a way to get ourselves from here to the ground, because there was the platform that teleported us up here to begin with. So I think there must be a reverse mechanism but it's not in this room, I don't think, and I need more time to research that to see if it's a possibility. Otherwise, it's a crash landing and I would rather really not. There's so much here. Sampson [Dili] (43:48): Yeah, that would be bad. But- Marietta [Atalia] (43:50): Also, how big is this ship? I don't know. Daniel [GM] (43:53): ChaCha, you hear a voice in your head and it says, "Well, this is a pickle." Alex [ChaCha] (44:00): We can just jump out, it'll be fine. Daniel [GM] (44:03): "Well, you're pretty high up. It's pretty dangerous to just jump from here, but sure I'm willing to help you. I'd be more worried about the containment breach at the aft." Daniel [GM] (44:17): And that's where we'll end this episode. Sampson [Dili] (44:18): Uh-oh. Uh-oh. Uh-oh. Marietta [Atalia] (44:24): Cool. Cool. Sorry guys, if that was too much. I really enjoyed that so much though. Daniel [GM] (44:30): Yeah. Nix, anything that came out for Nix? If not for Nix, then ChaCha. One of the two, one of you volunteer for me. Alex [ChaCha] (44:37): I just enjoy embracing ChaCha's inability. Because she's passionate, she has an inability to controlling her temper and she has an inability in tasks that are requiring strength or subtlety. Daniel [GM] (44:54): Mm-hmm (affirmative). Awesome. Okay, yeah. She definitely went for the impulsive response there. I was for sure, sure that it was going to be Nix. I kind of love that it's ChaCha, in the end, that got this voice in her head. Stace [Nix] (45:11): Oh yeah. Daniel [GM] (45:13): How is Nix doing, Stace, in all of this? Stace [Nix] (45:17): Usually Nix likes to explore. Ruins are cool, I mean I guess it's not ruins, but Numenera stuff is cool and all that. But she was feeling pretty urgent about her mom appearing because it means her mom has had an attack. She's already worried about the automaton showing up. Daniel [GM] (45:38): I think it's telling. I think it was quite clear from how quiet Nix was during all of this that things were different. Daniel [GM] (45:46): So we have a segment that we do each week called Player Intrusions, where we offer you the listeners an XP to check out something you would absolutely dig. This week it is my turn to do the intrusion and I will offer you all and XP if you check out Ten Candles, the RPG. Ten Candles is a role-playing game of tragic horror, which means that from the very beginning you know that every character that's being played will die by the end of the game. Because it's not about surviving, it's about how do you face the horror. And every game is different as far as the scenario, but they all start the same, and that is 10 days ago the light went out. There was no sun in the sky, no moon, no stars. It was completely dark. We did okay. Our generators lasted us for a while. But then, five days ago, They arrived. And that's when people started dying. Daniel [GM] (46:52): And Ten Candles is a game that is particularly significant because you little light 10 tea candles for the game. So there is a built-in time limit. Whenever there is a failure on a test or a candle goes out naturally, either way when a candle goes out that is the end of the round. There are only 10 rounds in the game. When there is only one candle left, it's the last scene, and that's where every character will die facing off against Them. The nature of Them changes every time, but it's a really fun game of improvisation. The characters creation consists of a couple index card, where you define some things that may help or hurt you. And there's this nothing of a collective dice pool that you're working through. And that dice pool slowly gets eaten away over the corse of the game, and more of those dice go to the GM. And success for the players means that they control the narrative for a bit. Successes on the GM means the GM controls the narrative for a bit. Daniel [GM] (47:55): But it is just a brilliant horror game that can be super creepy and super fun, and it's very flexible. I know that a least Stace has played Ten Candles with me. I don't know what your feedback was as a player. Stace [Nix] (48:10): Oh yeah, it was fucking terrifying and only lit by the light of 10 tea candles. It was really creepy because you get to say a truth every now and then. Daniel [GM] (48:21): Yes. So every time a round ends, for as many candles as are lit, every one at the table can go around and state one thing that is true. So it starts off, "These things are true, and the world is dark." And each person can name one truth until you run out of candles, and then the next scene begins. Stace [Nix] (48:39): Last episode you were like, "You can pick one detail about the ship." That's what it reminded me of. I'm like, "All right, he'll speak one truth." But yeah, using the 10 candles and the slowly dwindling pool of dice adds just some automatic atmosphere to the game. And then, of course, Daniel you are a terrifying GM so you do well. And I had fun both times. And I remember the airport one. Daniel [GM] (49:09): Yeah. That was a fun one. Marietta [Atalia] (49:10): I want to play. Daniel [GM] (49:12): It's one that works really well in person. I've done it online but it's a little iffy. Because it's better if you're all in a dark room together waiting for the candles to go out. Stace [Nix] (49:22): See if we all get together in person, we could play as a group. Daniel [GM] (49:26): Yeah. It would be wild. Ten Candles is a lot of fun, I love it. It's my favorite horror RPG. So it's great. It's a very simple game to set up. Like I said, it's not great online. I did it once online where everybody had their own tea candles and then we just had an agreement that if anybody's tea candle went out, everybody else had to put out the tea candle for that number and we would move the scene from there. It's a little tricky, it's not quite the same, but it's a lot of fun. And it can get super, super creepy. Daniel [GM] (49:58): I'll also include a link in the show notes to one of my favorite actual play plays of it that I think is quite good. So I'll include that in the show notes, because it gives you an idea of how the game works in practice. It's very, very good. Stace [Nix] (50:13): You know, I don't think I played two with you, Daniel. I think I've just heard a lot about the cruise ship one. Daniel [GM] (50:18): Yeah, you heard a lot about the cruise ship one. You only played in the airport one. Stace [Nix] (50:21): Okay. Daniel [GM] (50:22): There's a lot of pre-written scenarios that are really great and you can still improvise on them. At GeeklyCon I ran two of them. I ran one that was people on a cruise ship when that happened, and then I ran another one that was people in an airport when that happened. So, good times. Fun times. It's super spooky. And so, especially with Halloween coming up this month, it's a good one to whip out and play. Daniel [GM] (50:49): If people wanted to reach out to us to tell us when they think about the podcast or to tell us what they think of 10 Candles, how would they do that Marietta? Marietta [Atalia] (50:59): Well, if they were smart they would head to our website, explorerswanted.fm, where there are links to all of these things. So we are on twitter @ExplorersWanted. We're on Instagram @explorerswantedpodcast. We're on Facebook as well, and that's Explorers Wanted Podcast on there. And then, if you really want to come hang out and interact with us, the best way to do that is to join our Discord server which is explorers-wanted. And there are links to the Discord on all of our social media and on our website. Marietta [Atalia] (51:31): And the other big thing we have is our Patreon which is the best way that you can concretely support us. If you have the means, it'll be really helpfully for us. It's gives us the opportunity to expand context in the future and to eventually acquire better equipment. And to provide more content for all of you is really what we would really love to do. So if it's within your means, we'd really appreciate that. Daniel [GM] (51:54): Absolutely. Absolutely. And even if you can't support us financially, the best thing that you could do for us right now is to tell a friend. And tell them why you like the show, why they should listen to it. The second best thing you could do for us is to leave us a five-star rating or review on a podcast directory, particularly Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, or Podchaser. That makes a big different to how people find us and how we build an audience. The five-star ratings are awesome, but it's even better if you can leave a review explaining why you like it. There are so many actual plays out there, and so when people are browsing looking for an actual play to try, the [inaudible 00:52:32] reviews make a huge difference. Daniel [GM] (52:34): And we actually have a new one from Apple Podcasts that I just texted Stace. What's that, Stace? Stace [Nix] (52:41): Sean D / Scidion from United States said on iTunes, "Very enjoyable. This is a great Numenera podcast, in fact it's a great Actual Play podcast in general. The cast has a great chemistry, they've made great characters, and the way they present the rules makes it easy to follow even if you aren't familiar with them. The story is very intriguing and the quality is pretty great. I recommend anyone who likes TTRPG podcasts to give it a listen." Daniel [GM] (53:07): Awesome. Awesome. Thank you so much, Sean. If you didn't like the podcast, if you just though it was "meh" or even if you hated it, then there's some important things that I'd like to provide you in terms of guidance. When the world goes dark, and you hear those sounds outside your house, don't run. Move stealthily to your loved ones and hold them close. You'll still hear that scratching at your windows, the rattling of your door knob, and maybe even the distant sound of breaking glass. But don't run, because there is nowhere to run to. Simply wait in the dark and let your love drape over you. And when finally you see the things bursting through your front door, smile at them with your every growing teeth, because they will be familiar to you and it's time to join the pack. Daniel [GM] (53:58): If you want to reach out to us individually on social media, you can. You can reach me on Twitter @andrlik, A-N-D-R-L-I-K. Stace [Nix] (54:07): Oh, shoot. You can remind me to pay attention @StaceWindu on Twitter. Sampson [Dili] (54:14): Ask me what episode of One Piece I'm on @SlamPotato. Alex [ChaCha] (54:19): Help me petition that Daniel sell picture of his feet to get us more funding @realteaunicorn. Marietta [Atalia] (54:25): Count how many times I scanned things in this episode and let me know @imonahike. Please. Also, file any complaints that way too. Daniel [GM] (54:41): Okay, that's it for us. We'll be back next week, as we will for every week in the foreseeable future. Have a good night or day or morning or whenever you're listening to this. And bye! Marietta [Atalia] (54:52): Bye! Stace [Nix] (54:52): Bye! Alex [ChaCha] (54:52): Bye! Sampson [Dili] (54:52): Bye!
